Northwest Motor Yachts from 52' to 58'

Northwest Motor Yachts are not "cookie cutter" models. Each Steve Seaton designed boat Northwest Yachts builds is tailored to the individual requirements of its' owner. The size, layout, styling, hull configuration and construction materials are carefully considered in the creation of your new boat; one built just for you.

For open ocean, coastal, near coastal and inside passage cruising, our semi-displacement, FRP constructed Trawler series are the perfect configuration. This gives the owner the option of cruising at displacement speeds for economy or, for when it is needed, cruise at speeds up to 12 knots (depending upon engine selection). Northwest Motor Yachts are built standard as a twin engine configuration optionally as a single. Northwest Motor Yachts are available with engine sizes that will allow for faster cruising speeds or to achieve top speeds of 18 to 20 knots. For the 52 and 55, Northwest offers the John Deere 6068 (330hp) engine(s) as standard. For the larger models, the John Deere 6090, (500hp) or 6135 (750hp)  engines are available.

History of Nord West

Nord West was founded in 1985 by Benny Martinsson in Orust, an island on the west coast of Sweden. The company quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality motor yachts known for their exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and innovative design. Nord West's commitment to quality and performance earned them numerous awards and a loyal customer base, making their yachts highly sought after in the marine market.Throughout the years, Nord West expanded its product range, offering various models that catered to different preferences and needs of boat enthusiasts. The company's emphasis on combining luxury with functionality allowed them to stand out in a competitive market. However, during the late 2000s, the company faced financial struggles, which ultimately led to its closure in 2013. Despite the company's closure, Nord West's legacy continues to be celebrated among boating enthusiasts who appreciate their unmatched quality and design.In 2013, the premises and some of the assets of Nord West were acquired by another prominent Swedish yacht manufacturer, Nimbus Boats. This acquisition was part of Nimbus's strategy to consolidate its position in the yachting industry. Today, Nimbus Boats operates from the former Nord West facilities, continuing the tradition of producing high-end motor yachts with the same attention to craftsmanship and innovation that Nord West was renowned for. The Nord West name, while no longer in active production, remains a symbol of exceptional Swedish boatbuilding.

Nord West 370 Coupé - a hardtop coupé sportscruiser

What is it?: A first for Nord West – a hardtop coupé sportscruiser, a no-flybridge alternative to their new five-berth, IPS or sterndrive-powered 370 flybridge cruiser.

Worth seeing because: You should never miss any boat that Nord West build as they construct some of the most finely crafted and intelligently detailed craft in the world.

This 370 Coupé is a first for them (Nord West’s staple has previously been flybridge boats) and it will provide an interesting, albeit more expensive and hopefully even higher quality, alternative to the excellent Scandinavian hardtop coupés from the likes of Nimbus and Aquador. The galley is up in the saloon, conveniently sited opposite the dinette.

Down below, Nord West have managed to squeeze in a fifth berth – this is curtained off from the lobby area that serves the other two twin cabins and the single heads compartment. Owners can opt for sterndrives or IPS. It’s worth bearing in mind that Nord West’s 420 is one of the best-handling IPS boats we’ve ever driven.

Like a lot of Scandinavian craft, at first sight Nord West’s boats appear expensive. However, a close examination of the outstanding build quality, plus the 370’s impressive detailing that’s evident from the photos on their excellent website, and it’s clear that Nord West’s price for the 370 is more than justified. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIKkeDOASdE&hl=en&fs=1

We both grew up on the island Orust where we live today. The sea has always been a part of our life and we love sailing. Of course the Nord West boats will be close to our hearts because it is the brand that we have developed for over more than 20 years – our life’s work. Together, we have always been a good team.

Benny has spent a lifetime of working with boats. As the fisherman’s son, he grew up practically at sea, and when he was little his uncle transferred an interest to build boats. Having first worked as a boat builder for 10 years at Hallberg-Rassy, Benny founded his own company in 1985 with just a toolbox. In addition to boats, he has always had a passion for production systems and production efficiency.

Jessica began working with Benny in 1994 and over time has evolved relationship. After studying for a master degree in Computer Science with a focus on system development, computers are like part of Jessica. Interests that have emerged over the years , photography , layout and marketing.

Battle of Smolensk (1812)

The Battle of Smolensk, the first major battle of the French invasion of Russia took place on August 16–18, 1812, between 175,000 men of the Grande Armée under Napoleon Bonaparte and 130,000 Russians under Barclay de Tolly, though only about 50,000 and 60,000 respectively were actually engaged. Napoleon attacked Smolensk occupied by Russian General Bagration's corps and captured two of the suburbs. During the night the Russians evacuated the burning city .

Battle of Smolensk (1943)

The second Battle of Smolensk (7 August–2 October 1943) was a Soviet strategic offensive operation conducted by the Red Army as part of the Summer-Autumn Campaign of 1943. Staged almost simultaneously with the Lower Dnieper Offensive (13 August–22 September), the offensive lasted two months and was led by Generals Andrei Yeremenko commanding the Kalinin Front and Vasily Sokolovsky commanding the Western Front. Its goal was to clear the German presence from the Smolensk and Bryansk regions.

Siege of Smolensk (1632–33)

The Siege of Smolensk lasted almost a year between 1632 and 1633, when the Muscovite army besieged the Polish-Lithuanian city of Smolensk during the war named after that siege. Muscovite forces of over 25,000 under Mikhail Borisovich Shein begun the siege of Smolensk on 28 October. Polish garrison under Samuel Drucki-Sokoliński numbered about 3,000. The fortress held for nearly a year, and in 1633 the newly elected Polish king Władysław IV organised a relief force.

Siege of Smolensk (1654)

The Siege of Smolensk was one of the first great events of the Russo-Polish War (1654–1667). Smolensk, which had been under the rule of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during 1404–1514 and since 1611, was besieged by a Russian army in June 1654. The Polish garrison of the city hoped to get reinforcements from the army of Janusz Radziwiłł (1612–1655), stationed in Orsha. Its situation worsened when Radziwiłł suffered a defeat from Prince Yakov Cherkassky in the Battle of Shklow.
