The Bering Yachts B145 Explorer Is Launched

  • By Yachting Staff
  • May 18, 2022

Bering B145 Explorer

Bering Yachts in Turkey has launched Hull No. 1 of the B145 Explorer, a 145-foot yacht that is being christened Heeus .

The yacht has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. It’s a semi-custom design with a volume of 499 gross tons.

“This will be the beginning of a new chapter for the Bering Yachts company,” Bering Yachts founder Alexei Mikhailov stated in a press release.

Onboard accommodations are for 12 guests in six staterooms, with quarters for 10 crew. The master stateroom is on the main deck toward the bow, with glass windows that measure more than 100 square feet. There’s dining on the main deck and on the upper deck in the sky lounge.

Twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines are expected to allow a maximum speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. The yacht has a hybrid propulsion system, with the propeller driven by electric motors that get their juice from a battery bank. DC generators recharge the battery bank.

Those are some big tanks: Fuel capacity is more than 25,000 gallons, a quantity that Bering Yachts calls “enormous.” The yacht has a projected range of 5,000 nautical miles.

Bering Yachts B145 Explorer Yacht "Heeus"

Bering Yachts has delivered a number of pocket explorer yachts in recent years, but now it’s moving on to bigger and better things.

The firm launched its largest explorer to date last week at the shipyard in Antalya, Turkey. The 145-footer, which has been christened Heeus , marks the first hull in the B145 line .

Built by an in-house team of engineers and naval architects, the semi-custom expedition vessel features a sleek, steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Designed for global adventures, Heeus features a reinforced “ice belt” midship that allows her to cut through icy waters with ease.

The explorer left the Bering shipyard in Turkey last Thursday.

The hybrid propulsion system, meanwhile, enables long-distance cruising. Essentially, the electric motors are powered by a bank of batteries that are recharged by high-efficiency, variable-speed DC generators. As for performance, the vessel’s twin Caterpillar C32 Acert motors give her a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. She also has an enormous fuel capacity of nearly 26,000 gallons and an autonomous range in excess of 5,000 nautical miles. In short, no destination is off-limits.

With a volume of 499 GT, the spacious interior can sleep up to 12 guests across six cabins, as well as 11 crew within four cabins and a captain’s cabin. Located on the main deck toward the bow, the owner’s stateroom comes complete with giant glass windows spanning more than 100 square feet for unmatched sea views. Elsewhere, the three-decker features a huge saloon, a dining room with a 12-seat table and a plush lounge.

The vessel spans 145 feet from tip to tail.

Outside, the scenic sky lounge on the upper deck sports another large table for alfresco dining, while the flybridge comes with a Jacuzzi and bar. To the aft, meanwhile, there’s a sizable beach club that gives seafarers direct access to the ocean and a garage filled with water toys.

“We are very proud to have this first hull in the model range to be launched on the water,” Bering’s founder Alexei Mikhailov said in a statement. “This will be the beginning of a new chapter for the Bering Yachts company.”

For context, Bering’s current offering comprises seven yacht models measuring up to 85 feet and four larger superyacht models spanning up to 180 feet. In addition to the launch of Heeus , the Monaco office recently sold two more new builds (the B80 and B125) to European customers.

Bigger and better, indeed.

Bering Yachts announces sale of second B145 explorer yacht

Currently in build at bering's facility in antalya, turkey, the project is scheduled to be delivered in 2023….

Image for article Bering Yachts announces sale of second B145 explorer yacht

Six months after the sale of the first unit, Bering Yachts has sold a second hull in its flagship 44m series. Designed by Bering’s in-house team of naval architects and engineers, together with Sabdes Design for the exterior lines, the tri-deck B145 is designed for an owner who wants to cruise the world, including the high latitudes. “The sale of the first B145 was a milestone for the company, but a second hull so soon after is a remarkable achievement,” says Alexey Mikhailov, president of Bering Yachts. “Not only is it testament to our growing construction capacity, but also to our ability to satisfy customer requests for ocean-going yachts that are capable, reliable and comfortable.”

The 9.7m beam means the Bering 145 can accommodate five functional yet extremely comfortable guest suites on the lower deck, a master stateroom on the main deck forward and a second master suite behind the wheelhouse on the bridge deck. The full-beam main deck stateroom is divided into three separate zones with a private bar, lounge area and night area, as well as fold-down balcony. The transom beach club features a sauna and spa. The client is an avid scuba diver and, between the beach club and the engine room, is a fully-equipped diving room complete with its own fold-down door and decompression chamber. There is plenty of space on the open upper deck aft to carry tenders (of up to 8.5m) and additional toys.  Also important for the owner is comfort in terms of reduced noise and vibration. To meet this aspect of the brief the shipyard will significantly increase sound-proofing to make the yacht as silent as possible, both at anchor and underway.  With a full-displacement steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the B145 is rated at 499gt and will have a conventional diesel drive train for a top speed of 15 knots with a range at cruising speed in excess of 4,000nm.

The yacht will be delivered in 2023.

Bering Yachts introduces new 24m catamaran model BC80 with two configurations

Bering Yachts introduces new 24m catamaran model BC80 with two configurations

Turkish shipyard Bering Yachts has announced a new 24-metre catamaran model known as BC80 at this year's Cannes Yachting Festival.

The yacht is the largest in its class at 24 metres and is joined by the 18.9-metre BC60 and the BC70, which measures 21.3 metres. Owners can choose between two layouts: the flybridge version and the solar-powered version.

The first has been billed as a "more classic yachting experience", featuring an expansive 82-square-metre flybridge and 1,000 square feet of solar panels which can generate over 20kW of energy on a sunny day. The yacht can then remain at anchor for extended periods without relying on generators.

Meanwhile, the solar-powered version is suited to "the environmentally conscious adventurer", with a massive solar panel array, high-capacity lithium-ion battery bank and a state-of-the-art "kick-saving" system. This system significantly reduces generator dependence and allows guests to enjoy silent cruising for up to 24 hours without running the generators.

The BC80's impressive interior volume is aided by an expansive 10.8-metre beam, giving guests the "ultimate three-decker experience" with a spacious main deck with 2.4 metres of headroom, a dedicated upper deck with flybridge option, and a comfortable lower deck. In terms of accommodation, owners can choose between four, five or six cabins with the option of a master suite on the main deck.

The standard layout features a galley positioned forward on the main deck, while all guest accommodations are located in the sponsons (hull extensions) for extra privacy and reduced noise.

Powered by a pair of Volvo Penta engines, the yacht will reach top speeds of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots.

This follows the news that the steel hull of its 39.5-metre B125 model had been transported from Istanbul to Antalya ahead of outfitting . Delivery is anticipated for September 2024.

Vladivostok cruise port

Region Asia

Local Time 2024-09-19 08:08

Vladivostok is a port city located in Russia (northeastern Asia), and on Golden Horn Bay (Sea of Japan). The city covers a total area of approx 331 km2 (128 mi2) and has population around 0,6 million.

The port city is the terminus of Russia's largest Pacific railway system (Trans-Siberian Railroad) and also the main naval base of Russia's Pacific fleet. The harbor is being kept open by icebreakers during winter months and serves as base for whaling and fishing vessels. Far Eastern State University is also here. The city is a major center of scientific research.

After the port city is named the 2015-built icebreaker Vladivostok .

The town was founded in 1860 as a military outpost and grew rapidly after 1903 when the Trans-Siberian railway was completed. During 1918-1922, Vladivostok was occupied by Japanese and Allied forces.

Port Vladivostok is ice-free the whole year-round. In 2002, the port had a foreign shipping trade turnover worth USD 275 million. In 2015, a special economic zone was established within the free port.

The city's main industries/employers are the Russian naval base, cargo shipping, commercial fishing. Fishing accounts for about 4/5 of the commercial production. A major source of revenue is the Japanese cars import.

In 2012, the city hosted the 24th Summit of APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) forum on Russky Island. In preparation for the event, the city's infrastructure was improved and two giant cable-stayed bridges were built - Zolotoy Rog Bridge (over Golden Horn Bay, city center) and Russky Bridge (connecting with Russky Island).

The 4-lane Russky Bridge (across Eastern Bosphorus strait) is the world's longest cable-stayed bridge ever constructed -(length 3,1 km / 10,200 ft). Its longest span is 1,1 km (3622 ft). The bridge's clearance above is 70 m (230 ft). The construction cost around USD 1,1 billion.

In August 2016, the Chinese ship Chinese Taishan (former Costa Voyager) made a maiden port call. Liner's operator (Bohai Cruises) soon announced the company's decision to include Vladivostok in its regularly scheduled roundtrip itineraries.

On July 31, 2017, the Peace Boat-chartered cruise ship Ocean Dream made a maiden port call in Vladivostok, with around 1200 tourists from Japan and South Korea. The voyage departed Port Kobe (Japan) on July 27th and visited Yeosu (Korea) , Vladivostok, Hakodate (Japan) , Sakaiminato-Matsue (Japan) and Busan (Korea) .

In 2017, cruise ships managed by Costa Asia ( Carnival Corporation 's subsidiary) visited Port Vladivostok 6 times. The first vessel ( Costa Victoria - max capacity 2314 passengers) docked here in May 2016. In 2017, the cruise port handled 13 ship calls. In 2016, their number was 6.

In 2018, the area near the cruise berth was dredged to allow docking of bigger vessels. On February 26 was opened port's season 2018 with Amadea ( Phoenix Reisen ) carrying over 500 passengers. Among 2018's highlights were the maiden calls by the large liners MSC Splendida (3900 pax), Costa Serena (3600 pax) and Costa Fortuna (3250 pax). On May 12, 2018, Costa Serena became the ever-largest cruise ship docking in Vladivostok. The liner carried over 3000 passengers and crew. It arrived from South Korea (roundtrip Busan itinerary) being chartered by Lotte Tours. Tourists were greeted with a live performance by Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University students (drummers, singers, dancers). The seaport and Vladivostok tour operators arranged a total of 79 buses each with a Korean-speaking tour guide.

In 2019 (March through October) were booked for berthing a total of 16 ships, among which the RCI-Royal Caribbean 's Quantum and Spectrum . Other large-sized liners were Costa Serena (5 times), Costa neoRomantica (3 times), Diamond Princess , Holland America 's Maasdam and Westerdam , Ocean Dream .

Season 2019 started on March 20 with MS Albatros (Phoenix Reisen), with estimated nearly 30,000 cruise passengers (plus ~70,000 ferry passengers) to be handled at Vladivostok Sea Terminal. In 2019, Vladivostok also restarted its homeport operations with locals and tourists able to book cruises leaving from Vladivostok (mainly to ports in Korea and Japan) and fly-cruise deals (via air/sea programs). There are plans for establishing a local (Russian) cruise line to operate itineraries to other Russian Far East destinations.

On Sept 9, 2019, Spectrum OTS became the ever-largest passenger ship to visit a Russian Federation port. The vessel docked in Vladivostok and was boarded by 200+ Russian VIP guests. Next is listed the 8-day "Russia and Japan Cruise" itinerary roundtrip from China.

Via Vladivostok, the Russian cargo shipping company FESCO serves three express routes connecting Russia with South Korea, China and Japan - Busan to Moscow (15-days transit launched June 2018), Shanghai to Moscow (20-days transit launched January 2017) and Toyama to Moscow (15-days transit launched April 2018). The new services allow delivery time reduction achieved by implementing new pass-through technology (port-railway). Busan to Vladivostok transit time is 2 days.

In January 2021, FESCO for the first time exported containerized grain delivered from Khabarovsk. The TEU-containers were shipped to China's Qingdao and Chiwan ports. FESCO's Russia-China service is 2-week (transit time 14 days). FESCO started bulk shipping of gran (from Krasnoyarsk) to China in 2018 with the new Siberia-to-Far East (Kamchatka and Magadan) service via FESCO-owned trains.

In December 2021, FESCO acquired JSC Port Gaydamak (FEMSTA containership terminal) which was planned for modernization and expansion in 2024. The facility is used mainly for transshipment (400,000+ tons of grain annually) and general cargoes. Also in December was inaugurated the "FESCO West Gate Bridge" (2-4-times a month intermodal containership service on the route Vladivostok- Kaliningrad/Baltiysk ) linking the Asia-Pacific countries with Europe. With an estimated transit time of 36 days, the Vladivostok-Kaliningrad service is nearly 1,5 times faster than the Suez Canal alternative.

Vladivostok cruise terminal

Cruise ships dock at Vladivostok Sea Terminal where their passengers are welcomed with a ceremony that includes live performances of traditional Russian dances, folklore songs and drummers. The event is organized by the company Vladivostok Sea Terminal, LLC.

To all passengers are given free city maps and tour guides, provided by Primorsky Region's Tourist Information Center. Traditionally, an outdoor market with Russian souvenirs is also organized for the disembarking tourists.
