Charter yacht of the week: the 77m behemoth Boadicea fresh from the shipyard
Each week, we place a spotlight on one of the world’s finest yachts for charter. This week, BOAT steps on board Amels ' 76.6-metre Boadicea in Barcelona, to take in her vast volume and understand why she is a top contender in the luxury yacht charter for larger groups.
One thing is for certain when chartering 76.6-metre Boadicea: you won’t be short of space. With a gross tonnage of 2191GT, the five-deck yacht boasts colossal volumes for entertaining. The yacht will need the areas to keep everyone entertained with a full complement of 18 guests, and with so much on offer, she’s something of a charter Swiss Army knife.
Built in 1999 by Amels, Boadicea is no stranger to the charter circuit and since 2015, when the yacht first changed hands (and was temporarily renamed Reborn ), she has been carrying families in opulent comfort around the world. She was originally built for extended world cruising and consequently has a special emphasis on the large owner’s suite and crew accommodation. There was even a darkroom on board for the owner’s photographic hobby.
Boadicea was soon transformed into a charter yacht, with a broad scope of changes that were laid down by the new owners. But care was taken to retain her blissful character and design by Terence Disdale. New charter-friendly features were added in what was a complex job (carried out by Amico ), such as a lift connecting the four accommodation decks, a spa/open-air water sports centre (which meant extending the hull several metres), and a larger pool on the sun deck.

Stepping on board for the first time, it’s her size that immediately catches one’s attention. While she looks large from the quay, the main saloon of Boadicea unfolds into a vast space, which is flooded with natural light. Styling is classical throughout with warm tones of walnut and leather, yet contemporary artwork and sculptures keep the interiors fresh.
All the soft furnishings have been replaced and now, following her most recent refit in 2024, she feels fresh and ready to take on another charter season. Other work included new hull wrapping and the inclusion of a new cinema room with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology for cosy nights on board. The upper saloon has also just been completely refurbished with Roche Bobois furnishings.
With accommodation on board for 18 guests, the cabins on board are impressive and split across four decks connected with the elevator. The main master cabin is placed at the front of the upper deck with panoramic views across the bow, substituting what used to be an observation deck that was changed during a previous refit. Also on the upper deck is the VIP cabin, which directly adjoins the master cabin and is completed in light woods with large windows.
Interestingly Boadicea has two master cabins, the second being on the deck below. This arrangement has been done to create a private family unit as each of the two masters and VIP cabins are linked with a private staircase and hallway. The six guest cabins on the lower deck, each with queen double beds in five and one twin single.
Life on board Boadicea
Awakening to breakfast laid out on the main deck aft, the possibilities of activities for the day ahead are endless. Bright yellow sun loungers await on the sun deck, while Boadicea ’s inflatables are laid out behind the swim platform. Her toy box is brimming with adrenaline-fuelled fun including a swimming pool with jellyfish net, cabana and parking for the jet skis and E-foils.
Hopping to shore is no problem thanks to her tender collection including a 13-metre Pirelli rib with an interior cabin to keep guests dry, a seven-metre Castoldi jet tender and a 6.7-metre Yachtwerft.
For those looking for something more relaxing, Boadicea has a spa overlooking the stern of the vessel with a large marble steam room and hydro bath. The onboard therapist offers an array of treatments and massages to rejuvenate and restore as well as technological treatments for detoxifying and toning.
More space for relaxation can be found on the sundeck, which has been set up for basking in the rays and frolicking in the pool. Gym equipment lies outside on the upper deck with free weights machines and a trainer in the crew.

Over the years, a great many changes have been made to Boadicea: from big changes such as the addition of the enormous swim platform (perfect for watersports, sunbathing or even a couples massage!) to the replacement of all the soft furnishings throughout the vessel. Most recently, the hull and superstructure has been wrapped to change her colour to the crisp white and black you see here. A cinema room with state of the art audio visual equipment has been added – a true movie experience! The upper salon has also been completely refurbished with Roche Bobois furnishings and a cinema style screen & projector.
BOADICEA is able to accommodate eighteen passengers in comfort and style: the main master cabin is ideally placed at the front of the upper deck with panoramic views across the bow – this area was originally an observation deck that was changed during a refit. The VIP cabin directly adjoins the master cabin and is beautifully light and airy.

The second Master Cabin is situated on the deck below and is every bit as palatial and opulent as the one above. An added feature is that the main Master, second Master and VIP cabins are all linked by private staircase and hallway, making for a perfect, self-contained private family unit. The six guest cabins on the lower deck are extremely spacious with queen double beds in five and twin singles in one. The lower deck cabins also have direct access out to the swim platform – you can jump out of bed and into the ocean in just a few short steps!

‘Boadicea’ is a 249.34ft /76m motor yacht was built in 1999 by Amels and last refitted in 2016. Terence Disdale has created both the exterior and interior design, and this yacht was previously named Reborn.
Boadicea’s interior layout sleeps up to 12 guests in 8 rooms, including a master suite, 6 double cabins and 1 twin cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 24 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Each cabin is well appointed and offers the ideal place to rest after a long day of exploration. This impressive yacht comes complete with a modern stabilization system to reduce roll motion even during rough seas, and the yacht also has ‘at anchor stabilizers’ to keep things smooth even at anchor/zero speed.
