The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. MOSCOW, Idaho ( CBS2 ) — In response to a court-ordered deadline, Bryan Kohberger's lawyers submitted more details on his alibi of "out driving" during the early morning hours of November 13, 2022, the night four University of Idaho students were murdered in a Moscow home.

In the document, his lawyers said, that after his June '22 move to Pullman, Washington, as an avid runner and hiker, he liked to explore the Palouse and grew partial to Wawawai County Park in Whitman County .

They said as classes at Washington State University demanded more of his time, he ran and hiked less but added in the hobby of driving at nighttime, and that's why his phone showed him in the countryside during overnight hours on several occasions as according to state evidence. They said he took a picture during the hours in question.

Mr. Kohberger was out driving in the early morning hours of November 13, 2022; as he often did to hike and run and/or see the moon and stars. He drove throughout the area south of Pullman, Washington, west of Moscow, Idaho including Wawawai Park.

The court documents show Kohberger's lawyers plan to present an expert on cellphone information to testify that his cell's position does not line up with the state's evidence of video showing his car in the early morning hours.

Kohberger's lawyers said they have more details regarding his alibi, but if the state doesn't share more discovery about it as requested, the expert's "testimony will also reveal that critical exculpatory evidence, further corroborating Mr. Kohberger’s alibi, was either not preserved or has been withheld."

The next motion hearing is May 14th, during which the judge will consider the change of venue motion from the defense and their motion to compel the discovery.
