The Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania is located at the entrance to the Lindisfarne Bay offering sheltered anchorage, many boating facilities including slipping, refuelling and launching facilities. Our club house offers spectacular views over the River Derwent, great function facilities and popular weekday meals.

What a view !! Wonderful to look across the bay and the marina filled with boats. Not a large menu but very reasonably priced. The roast was lamb, cut in thick slices and served with a selection of seasonal vegetables bother roasted and steamed leaving us very satisfied!!

All three photographs uploaded today come from Sandy Bay, a beachside suburb of Tasmania's capital city Hobart. They were taken from the 16th floor of the Wrest Point Hotel tower. The view here is looking towards the historic precinct of Battery Point. In the foreground is the spectacular Sandy Bay Marina and the home of two prestigious yacht clubs.
On the left is the Derwent Sailing Squadron ( dssinc.org.au/ ) and on the right you can see the headquarters of the famous Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania ( www.ryct.org.au/ ). The RYCT is best known as one of the two host clubs for perhaps the greatest annual open water sailing race, the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
Rumours abound, and with some controversy, that this race (which always starts in Sydney Harbour each Boxing Day, December 26) will be cancelled in 2020. No decision has yet been made, but if so it would be the first time in 75 years that the race has not been run.
