Adrenaline junkies, Key West locals, and curious visitors all come together once a year with the “Need for Speed!” After a one year hiatus, The 2021 Offshore Racing World Championships will return and reunite fans from around the world that want to see boats GO FAST! Barefoot Billy’s will put you right in the action, but you must reserve your spot in advance before seats sell out.

Much like their Moonshining counterparts on land, “Go Fast” boat history began with smuggling. These slender crafts with minimalist cockpits were dubbed tobacco smuggling “Cigarette Boats” or “Rum Runners” when carrying alcohol during prohibition. Eventually, mammoth horsepower on lightweight speed boats carried illegal drugs through Caribbean waters. Prior to global satellite tech, US Coast Guard gauntlets were no match for these Speed Demons of the sea. Similar to its infamous Shipwrecking past, the Island of Key West converted dubious smuggling legend into modern day race fantasy. Manned fiberglass torpedos chase international glory at 90 mph right in front of your eyes. Watching these mechanical thoroughbreds compete up close will surely be the highlight of your visit to Key West.

The 42-foot Corinthian Powercat “Seabreeze” is coast guard-rated for 49 passengers with a bar and marine head (bathroom) on board. On Race Day, we will take 35 people out to the perfect vantage point to watch the longest race of the day. A picnic spread of sandwiches, sides, and assorted salads (pasta, potato, and more) are all included in your tickets. Drinks include domestic beer, select wines, Prosecco, hard seltzers, soft drinks, and bottled water. You’ll never forget the time you felt the salt spray of a world champion race past your very own eyes.
