How Much Do Superyachts Cost?

touch the sun yacht owner

When it comes to superyachts, the sky is the limit when it comes to cost.

These luxury vessels come with hefty price tags that can range from anywhere between $30 million to over $400 million.

So, if youre in the market for a superyacht, youre looking at an investment that could easily break the bank.

The cost of a superyacht is driven by a variety of factors, including size, amenities, and customization.

Generally, the larger the yacht, the more expensive it will be.

Superyachts typically range in size from 100 feet to over 200 feet, and they can be as wide as 40 feet.

The bigger the yacht, the more luxurious features and amenities it will have.

Amenities also play a significant role in the cost of a superyacht.

While some owners prefer to keep their yachts out of the public eye, others have made headlines with their extensive amenities.

From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, the sky is the limit when it comes to customizing a superyacht.

The more amenities a superyacht has, the more expensive it will be.

Finally, customization is another major factor that will drive up the cost of a superyacht.

Many luxury vessels have custom-designed interiors that are tailored to the owners tastes.

From custom furniture and artwork to lighting and audio systems, the cost of a superyacht can quickly escalate depending on the level of customization.

In short, the cost of a superyacht can vary widely depending on its size, amenities, and customization.

While some may be able to get away with spending a few million dollars, others may end up spending hundreds of millions of dollars on their dream yacht.

No matter what your budget is, its important to do your research and find out exactly what youre getting for your money before signing on the dotted line.

Keeping Superyachts Out of the Public Eye

When it comes to owning a superyacht, some owners prefer to keep their vessels out of the public eye.

Understandably, these individuals are concerned with privacy and discretion, and therefore tend to take measures to ensure their yachts are not visible to outsiders.

For instance, some superyacht owners opt to keep their vessels in private marinas, away from the public areas of larger ports.

Additionally, some yacht owners may choose to hire security guards to patrol and protect their vessels while they are moored or sailing.

In addition to physical security, some superyacht owners also use technology to keep their vessels out of the public eye.

For example, a yacht owner may choose to install a satellite-based communications system that allows them to keep their vessel completely off-radar.

This system works by bouncing signals off satellites rather than transmitting them, making it virtually impossible for anyone to track the yachts movements.

Finally, some superyacht owners also choose to limit the number of people who have access to their vessels.

For instance, the owner may only allow family members and close friends to board the yacht.

Additionally, the owner may choose to employ a limited number of staff to help maintain the vessel and keep it running smoothly.

These individuals may be required to sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure they do not disclose any information about the yacht or its owner.

Overall, while some superyacht owners may choose to keep their vessels out of the public eye, there are still plenty of other ways to show off the opulence associated with owning a superyacht.

From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, there are many luxurious amenities that can make a superyacht the envy of any jet setter.

Final Thoughts

Superyachts are a symbol of luxury and status, and the list of yacht owners reads like a who’s who of billionaires.

From the Emir of Qatar’s world-record breaking $400 million yacht to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s vessel with a helicopter pad and on-board spa, the amenities of these luxury vessels are truly stunning.

With prices ranging from $30 million to over $400 million, owning a superyacht is an expensive endeavor.

Whether you’re looking to purchase one or just curious to learn more about the owners and their amenities, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to stay up to date with the superyacht scene.

89m Amels superyacht Here Comes the Sun sold

89m Amels superyacht Here Comes the Sun rejoins market

The 89-metre Amels superyacht Here Comes the Sun has rejoined the market with Ian Sherwood and Stéphanie Bosi of Burgess .

The custom superyacht was delivered in 2017 as the flagship of the Amels fleet – a title that she has held for the past six years. She was commissioned by a repeat client with a penchant for The Beatles, who was looking to upgrade from a Limited Editions 212 model Ventum Maris (formerly Imagine) .

Here Comes the Sun underwent a full rebuild completed at her home shipyard in 2021. Core work included a six-metre stern extension courtesy of Azure Naval Architects , the addition of a second helipad, an interior revamp and a repaint. She emerged from the shipyard with a new look, sporting a navy blue hull and ice-white superstructure, and was later awarded a Neptune for Best Rebuilt Yacht at the World Superyacht Awards 2022.

The 2,955GT flagship was built as custom to Lloyd's Class with an exterior and interior from the boards of design royalty Tim Heywood and Andrew Winch . The pair had worked together on a number of Limited Editions projects and it seemed only natural for two Brits to reunite for the flagship build. Though a truly custom vessel, she borrows design cues from the successful Amels series.

Here Comes the Sun is vast, with over 1,000 square metres of exterior space and two touch-and-go helipads – one on the bow and one on the sundeck – that can land a Bell 429 or EC 145.

A two-metre-deep and semi-shaded swimming pool takes centre stage on the main deck and is surrounded by sun loungers and sofas, with windbreak glass to protect guests from inclement weather. The pool was upgraded during the refit thanks to the extension of the hull and is fitted with contraflow jets.

Below is a beach club and bar that now benefits from shell door platforms and an extended swim platform with hydraulic sea stairs. From here, guests can access the yacht's fully-fledged wellness centre complete with a sauna, steam room, plunge pool, massage room and beauty salon.

Other notable work completed during the refit included the extension of the sundeck by 3.4 metres, now home to a forward-facing whirlpool and a gym, and a full interior revamp that saw her original orange tones replaced with shades of marine blue.

Her interior offers over 800 square metres of guest spaces and 2.2 metres of headroom throughout.

Accommodation is for up to 20 guests across 10 cabins with provision for a crew of 27. An owner's apartment occupies the entire upper deck with a forward-facing owner's suite that benefits from a private lounge, office and balcony. Two "extra-large" VIP suites also have access to their own private balconies, while the remaining seven guest cabins are located on the main deck, two of which convert to suites. An extra double cabin on the bridge deck can sleep additional staff as required.

Here Comes the Sun currently houses three large tenders including a nine-metre RIB, a 10.5-metre limousine and a seven-metre Nautique ski boat stored in a central garage. Other features worthy of mention include a glass elevator serving all decks and a dedicated cinema.

Power comes from two Caterpillar 3516 engines delivering a maximum speed of 17.5 knots and a range of over 10,000 nautical miles at 10.5 knots. Quantum zero-speed stabilisers keep her steady at anchor and underway. Her recent refit also included the overhaul of all four Caterpillar C18 generators.

In August 2023, Here Comes the Sun was sold after just four months on the market, with Stuart Larsen of Fraser representing the seller and Antoine Larriq of Fraser introducing the buyer.

Here Comes The Sun is now asking €199,000,000.

Already the largest Amels ever delivered, with exteriors by Tim Heywood and Winch Design interiors, she was rebuilt at the Amels yard in 2020-21 with a 6m (19.7ft) extension. She emerged to universal acclaim as an 89m (291.9ft) yacht with a full repaint and a host of enhancements, winning Best Rebuilt Yacht at the World Superyacht Award 2022.

There are two new bridge deck VIP suites with 12m-long (39.4ft) balconies. She has a new 7x4m (23x13.1ft) counter-current pool on the main deck aft, flush with the deck to preserve the views, with the bulwarks lowered and handrails added for the same reason. The sun deck was extended aft to create a helipad for a Bell 429 or H145, and she also has a foredeck touch-and-go helipad.

Her restyled beach club measures 15x8m (49.2x26.3ft) and has fold-down sea terraces either side and an extended swim platform with hydraulic bathing steps aft. Forward of the beach club is a wellness centre with sauna, steam room, plunge pool, shower and dayhead to starboard and a massage room and beauty salon to port.

Other features include a glass elevator serving lower to sun decks, and there is step-free access from the lower deck lobby to the beach club. A private owner’s deck has a bedroom forward with wraparound views and access to walkaround sidedecks and the foredeck. There are his-and-hers bathrooms and dressing rooms and both the lounge and study have access to balconies. The saloon also has a bar and a dining room and access to the aft terrace.

Up on the sun deck there is a raised jacuzzi flanked by sunpads and beneath the hardtop there is a sit-up wet bar, dayhead and a good selection of gym equipment. The main deck is home to the yacht’s dedicated cinema and seven of the yacht’s guest suites, four of which can combine to create two VIP sites. All of the aft deck spaces on main to bridge decks have glass windbreak panels for guest comfort.

Twin 3,000hp Caterpillar diesel engines give her a top speed of 16 knots, she cruises at 13.5 knots and has a remarkable range of 10,000nm at her economical speed. Quantum zero speed stabilisers ensure comfort on arrival.

The lower deck garage, with shell doors either side, is home to two custom Yachtwerft Meyer tenders, a 10.5m (34.5ft) limo and a 9.2m (30.2ft) D-Rib, and a 7m (23ft) Super Air Nautique G23. There’s also a selection of watertoys including SeaDoos, SeaBobs and an inflatable marina and waterslide.

Incredible plan for $500million 500ft superyacht dubbed Shaddai with towering 125ft ‘sky cabin’ for ultra-rich owner

  • Aiya Zhussupova , Foreign News Reporter
  • Published : 5:07 ET, May 1 2024
  • Published : Invalid Date,

INCREDIBLE designs for a new 500ft superyacht shows the beauty has an elevated viewing platform sat 125ft above the water complete with a bar and infinity pool.

The vision of Italian designer Gabriel Teruzzi would take guests from the sea to the sky if the ambitious $500million project is ever bought into reality.

Incredible concept images for a new Italian $500million superyacht have been released

Dubbed Shaddai, the superyacht offers breathtaking views from its "sky cabin" to the high perch houses that sit alongside an infinity pool, dining area and bar on the 1,130 square foot terrace.

The name of the yacht, Shaddai, translates from Hebrew into "almighty" as the boat was intended to give the owner a sense of power.

The future owner could feel like royalty as they enjoy a picturesque sunset from the privacy of their own cabin.

Terruzi said: "From there he can reach the feeling of a higher power, surrounded by the immensity of the sea and sky, reaching the clouds where everything reflects his place in the world: at the top.

"Furthermore, the infinity pool produces a visual effect of water with no boundary, merging with the sky."

The estimated price for the grandiose idea is one for the royalty too - coming in at a whopping $500million.

As well as the never-seen-before viewing tower, the yacht also has plenty to boast on its lower levels.

Terruzi said the boat would be bestrewed with textiles from top designer houses and decorated with the finest furniture.

A brand new video released by Amels showcases the levels of luxury to be enjoyed on board their largest superyacht to date, the stunning 83m/272ft motor yacht ‘Here Comes The Sun’ .

Delivered to her owner in January and becoming available for private charter in March, Here Comes The Sun has already earned a reputation for being amongst the most prestigious and entertaining motor yachts on the water.

Indeed, as the latest video from the Dutch shipyard reveals, there is plenty for guests to enjoy whilst away on charter, with the sophistication of her design only serving to heighten the glamour of the experience.

Taking the viewer on a journey which begins at the moment guests step on board, to the moment they enjoy their first ocean sunset, there can be no doubt that the video reveals exactly what a charter vacation is all about.

Charter guests cruise along in the tender belonging to superyacht HERE COMES THE SUN

Showcasing how suited Here Comes The Sun is to the Mediterranean, the video goes on to show how the various on board facilities can be made use of by guests spanning all ages.

More specifically, it shows the pure wonder inspired in children when away on the water, whilst also going inside the private office to reveal the calm environment available to those needing to attend to business.

Complete with every conceivable luxury, superyacht ‘Here Comes The Sun’ could not be better equipped to deliver a uniquely memorable private charter experience

Taking the viewer across the exterior of the superyacht, the viewer is treated to views of the sundeck Jacuzzi, the large swim platform, and, most impressively, the generously sized swimming pool.

All made the more tempting by the guests on board, it’s easy to see why the superyacht commands such a powerful reputation.

Likewise, shots of the interior create a strong impression of the sophistication which runs throughout the communal and guest spaces.

The swimming pool featured on board superyacht Here Comes The Sun

Ultimately, by showing guests utilising the various features available on board the yacht, the video gives an inside glimpse of what makes a yacht charter vacation so special and unlike any other kind of escape.

Sure to tempt viewers into making plans this summer, the flexible cabin configuration makes the superyacht ideal for parties of friends and families.

Besides her marvellously appointed master stateroom, Here Comes The Sun also offers accommodation across 3 VIP cabins, and 6 doubles, 4 of which can be converted into twins. Altogether, this allows her to sleep up to 12 guests whilst away on a private yacht charter.
