Outside Marketing/Sales (Downtown Tampa and Clearwater Beach)

This position will be super fun with lots of face-to-face interaction with fellow front-line hospitality workers and tourists in the Tampa Bay Area. Perfect for an entry-level to moderate-level hospitality employee. It is not for the person looking for the 'behind the scenes" office job. It IS for someone looking for action-packed interaction and mobility as a major portion of this position will be riding Yacht Starship's corporate Segway! This will be a full-time position that provides hourly compensation as well as commission. You must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel between Tampa and Clearwater. We’re looking for someone with an inviting personality who enjoys relationship building and interacting with prospective customers.

Responsibilities would include visiting with the local hotel font desk/concierge personnel in Downtown Tampa as well as Clearwater Beach to keep them informed of our cruises and upcoming events, providing them with cruise calendar and information, maintaining our local brochure rack locations as well as procuring new locations, and distributing brochures and making reservations for our dining cruises at high foot traffic events. (i.e. Amalie Arena, Convention Center, Beach Festivals, etc).   Applicants should have computer skills to be able to create simple flyers, calendars, emails, contribute to our Facebook page, create reports showing weekly marketing/activity and more. Most importantly, applicants for this position should have a friendly disposition, be able to work independently, be professional and be interested in the Hospitality industry! The objective of this position is to promote individual ticket sales for Yacht StarShip Dining Cruises.

Deck Hand/Mate – Channelside Area AND Clearwater

Yacht StarShip is now hiring experienced Mates and Deckhands to work aboard Tampa Bay's premier dining yacht. Clearwater Marina Location as well as Tampa Location are available. Some of the typical daily duties may include, but are not limited to the following: * Clean and prepare designated public areas by meeting established standards of cleanliness to assure guests satisfaction. * Responsible for security and safety at the gangway and associated passenger embarkation/disembarkation areas and inspect yacht for unsafe conditions, correcting and reporting (to the Captain) any that are found. * Responsible for washing and cleaning the entire exterior of the yacht, including windows and decks. * Responsible for painting and maintaining the exterior of the yacht, including chipping, scraping, and priming. * Responsible for mooring the vessel. * Prepare job related documentation. * Attend daily/weekly safety meetings with assigned crew. * Perform general marine preventative maintenance activities, repairs, and housekeeping tasks along with other duties as assigned. Top candidates must have great people skills and look professional since deck crew are one of the first people our guests come into contact with on their cruise experience. Top candidates should also be mechanically inclined (in general) with a basic knowledge of engines and pumps, be able to work independently on a list of projects, and also be able to work well with others on larger maintenance projects.  Top candidates will have prior deckhand experience as well as experience with managing a crew. Individual Sales Manager

Yacht StarShip Dining Cruises, America's first 3-diamond rated fine dining yacht, is now accepting applications for a Full Time Individual Sales Manager. All applicants should have at least one year of experience in some type of customer service and an interest in the hospitality industry. Position offers anywhere from 35-40 hrs/wk. Qualified applicants must be available to work weekends ie. Saturdays and Sundays. Weekdays can be flexible. 

Position consists of 2 main elements:  1. Inbound phone calls and making reservations for parties of 2-24 people.  2. Handling the boarding of dining cruises, including the distribution of boarding passes and cash transactions. 

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to welcoming clients that are arriving for site tours, working with our marine department to ensure the boarding area is safe and clean, and making sure our Starship brochure racks are stocked. 

The position requires someone that is able to and enjoys work independently with high logical/deductive reasoning skills. Also, must be computer savvy. This position requires use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel as well as instant message chat and our reservations software. Must have a professional demeanor on the phone as well as in face-to-face interactions. This is a great position for someone loves the hospitality industry, loves talking to people and loves the boating industry! (Who doesn't right?)

Yacht Starship Dining Cruises operates Tampa Bay's premier fleet of dining yachts. Yacht Starship's food and service have been rated 3-diamond by AAA which ranks in the top 28% of all restaurants (even land-based restaurants!) Our cruises consist of public 'restaurant-style' dining as well as private 'banquet-style' events. Menus range from 3 or 4-course seated meals to upscale buffets to hand-passed hors d'oeuvres and gourmet food stations.  

Line Cook Requirements:  Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience in a high volume and/or fine dining restaurant with a stable work history. Our cruises are typically 3 hours with all guests being fed usually within a 2-hour time frame, so best applicants would be able to contribute to a quality end-product while moving very quickly. It would be a plus for candidates must have a clean driving record.  This is a full-time position and qualified candidates must be available to work Saturdays. This is a mandatory pre-requisite. Yacht Starship is now hiring for a full time Cruise Director/DJ. This position's main role is to engage and entertain dinner cruise passengers as well as private charters including corporate events and weddings aboard a fine dining yacht. Good candidates must be professional in look and demeanor and engaging to guests, welcoming them aboard the Yacht, visiting tables, etc. Should be able to read a crowd and play music to keep the party going. The general genre of music that is typically played is popular and fun CLEAN music - music that would be appropriate for a group celebrating a 25th birthday and at the same time would be appropriate for a couple celebrating their 25th anniversary. In addition, this position is responsible for all audio/visual processes on the yacht, including speakers/ sound system/ tv's/ mics/ cd/dvd players/ music library, etc. Qualified applicants should have at least one year of experience in this field as well as knowledge of electronics and how different systems are integrated and work together. Good candidates must be highly organized to keep up with maintenance of elect ronic s. 

We have equipment and a music database, so you do not need to provide your own. 

This position will also play a minor role on our marine crew and may be asked to assist in docking the yacht as well as safety procedures.

We seek an experienced Director or Manager of Marine Operations to oversee all aspects of Marine Operations.  The Department consists of Port Captain, Senior Captains,  Port Engineers, Marine Technicians, Dock Crew, Paint Crew & MTC Crew.

Video posted on social media shows the moment Steve Jobs' former superyacht Venus collided with another yacht in Naples, Italy.

The video, posted by Mexican telecom billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego on X, shows the moment the 257-foot-long Venus, now owned by Steve Jobs' former wife Laurene Powell Jobs, collided with Pliego's 344 foot-long Lady Moura on July 22.

"You guys won't believe this, but our yacht was hit while we were in Naples," Pliego wrote to his followers on X. "Apple founder Steve Jobs' yacht (now owned by his wife Laurene) hit us while we were anchored off Naples."

Pliego added his boat only suffered a few large scratches, which "will cost a lot to repair."

"I would like to know what the (Venus) captain and crew were doing that they didn't see a yacht the size of mine in front of them."

In a statement to Business Insider, Emerson Collective, an organization that Powell Jobs founded and is president of, said the collision happened while both boats were anchoring off Naples, adding only the crew was onboard.

Family clings to hope of air pocket in sunken superyacht as debris hampers search

PORTICELLO, Sicily — Divers searching for six missing people from a superyacht which sank off the coast of Sicily told NBC News Wednesday that debris inside the vessel, as well as its depth, were making their job difficult.  

As hopes of finding anyone alive dwindled, the divers said that they had managed to force open one of the Bayesian’s access doors but access to the cabins where people could be trapped was being hampered by detritus. 

The divers, who were not authorized to speak publicly, added that the depth of the wreck meant they were left with only 10 minutes to search the 184-foot yacht once they reached it. Then they had to return to the surface, they said. 

On Wednesday, the dock where they set off from was swarming with vehicles, boats and rescuers. Nearby tourists, reporters and photographers have gathered, eager for news. Helicopters occasionally fly over the area.  

British tech tycoon Mike Lynch and five of the 22 other people who were aboard the yacht remain unaccounted for and are believed to be trapped in the Bayesian’s hull, nearly 170 feet underwater.

Lynch's 18-year-old daughter, Hannah; Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife, Judy; and Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife, Neda, are also missing. 

Officials confirmed Monday that at least one person, the ship’s cook, had died. 

Rescuers said Tuesday that there might be people trapped inside the cabins, especially considering the timing of the storm, but that they had so far been unable to check through the ship’s portholes.

“The operations are long and complex,” Italy’s national fire department, whose diving teams have been participating in the search, said on X . 

Italy's coast guard also said Tuesday that divers were also using a remotely-operated underwater vehicle to aid in the search.

The Bayesian is owned by a firm linked to Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, who was one of the 15 people rescued Monday after it capsized near Sicily’s main city of Palermo in what Italian officials called a “violent storm.” 

Built by Italian shipbuilder Perini Navi in 2008, the U.K.-registered Bayesian could carry 12 guests and a crew of up to 10, according to online specialist yacht sites. Its nearly 250-foot mast is the tallest aluminum sailing mast in the world, according to CharterWorld Luxury Yacht Charters.  

Lynch, who was regularly described in U.K. media as “Britain’s Bill Gates,” was acquitted by a San Francisco jury of fraud charges stemming from the 2011 sale of his software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion.

Prosecutors alleged that Lynch and Autonomy’s vice president for finance, Stephen Chamberlain, had padded the firm’s finances ahead of the sale. Lynch’s lawyers argued that HP was so eager to acquire Autonomy that it failed to adequately check the books .

The Mediterranean sailing vacation was designed to be a celebration for Lynch, who brought Morvillo, one of his U.S. lawyers and Bloomer, who testified in his defense, on the trip.

Bloomer’s twin brother, Jeremy, told the BBC on Tuesday the family was “coping the best we can” and he was hopeful there might still be air pockets inside the hull. 

Chamberlain was not aboard the Bayesian.

In what appears to be a tragic coincidence, a car struck and killed Chamberlain on Saturday as he was jogging in a village about 68 miles north of London, local police said.

Steve Jobs' former yacht Venus collided with another superyacht off the coast of Naples

• Venus, the yacht built for Steve Jobs , collided with another yacht off Italy's coast.
• It's unclear which yacht struck which or when exactly the crash occurred.
• With a minimalist design, Venus is one of the world's most iconic superyachts.

Venus, Steve Jobs' former superyacht — now owned by his wife, the philanthropist and investor Laurene Powell Jobs — has collided with another superyacht off of the Italian coast.

A spokesperson from Powell Jobs' Emerson Collective who spoke with a crewmember confirmed to Business Insider that Venus, the 78-meter yacht Steve Jobs commissioned, had collided with Lady Moura, a 105-meter yacht. The collision happened on July 22 off the coast of Naples, Italy.

The spokesperson said that only crew were onboard the yacht and that both boats were anchored when a sudden change of wind led to the collision.

Venus is cruising in the Ligurian Sea, while Lady Moura made its way to Mykonos on Wednesday, based on publicly available tracking data from Marine Traffic.

Videos posted on social media show the strikingly minimalist Venus and the Lady Moura coming into contact. It's not clear from the videos which superyacht struck which, though someone who said they were aboard the Lady Moura seemed to blame Venus' crew on social media, SuperYacht Times reported. The person said the damage was "only a scratch, albeit a significant one that will be costly to repair."

Others on social media said that the Venus appeared to be moored and that Lady Moura seemed to have swung into the boat. BI hasn't been able to independently verify either claim.

The Italian Marina Militare didn't respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. The owner of the Lady Moura couldn't be reached.

No matter how little damage may have been done, insurance will probably cover it. Yacht insurance , which can cost six figures each month, is one of the largest costs incurred by yacht owners.

Venus, built by the top yacht-builder Feadship, was delivered after Jobs died in 2011 and was worth $130 million upon completion. The Apple cofounder was heavily involved in the design process alongside the French architect and decorator Philippe Starck.

"Venus comes from the philosophy of minimum," Starck said of her design. "The elegance of the minimum, approaching dematerialization."

Jobs and Starck spent four years working on her design, the designer told Vanity Fair , holding monthly meetings to discuss her specifications. She has six identical cabins, was built to maximize absolute silence, and, upon delivery, included the most up-to-date technology.

"There will never again be a boat of that quality again. Because never again will two madmen come together to accomplish such a task," Starck told the magazine. "It was not a yacht that Steve and I were constructing, we were embarked on a philosophical action, implemented according to a quasi-religious process. We formed a single brain with four lobes."
