Business Description

The Bellerive Yacht Club was established in 1926 to promote and encourage yachting, and to provide facilities for its members, which it continues to do. The club has grown to over 1000 members, with assets of over $3.5 million and an annual turnover of nearly $2 million. With two bars, Anchors Restaurant, a marina, slipyard and ample parking the club provides superb facilities for members and guests. Improvements are continually being made to club facilities and the club prides itself on providing great facilities at competitive rates. Our marina holds 170 vessels and we are in the process of lodging a Development Application to increase the marina size to 270.

The club runs twilight sailing on Wednesday evenings during summer, Saturday racing throughout the summer season, and Sunday racing over winter. The club also runs the annual Banjos Shoreline Crown Series Regatta, in February, one of the largest regattas in Tasmania.

As well as sailing, the club provides an active social calendar.

The Bellerive Yacht Club is a family club, and partners and children are encouraged to participate in club events and activities.

Functions are a speciality of the Bellerive Yacht Club, providing facilities for weddings, dinners, cocktail parties, meetings and all special occasions. With a north westerly aspect the clubhouse not only provides fantastic views over the marina and bay, but is also positioned to benefit from the afternoon sun in both summer and winter.

Oak Ridge Lions Club awards scholarships to four 2024 ORHS graduates

The Oak Ridge Lions Club recently awarded $500 scholarships to four Oak Ridge High School graduates from the Class of 2024.

John Adams Jr., Dayanara Ayala, Abbygail Gormley and Blayne Quilty were guests with their families and friends at a dinner with Lions Club Members.

“This process started with 120 applicants for the scholarships,” said Lion Bob Smallridge, chairman of the scholarship committee. “We interviewed six students and decided on these four deserving and outstanding students.

“All four of these students had a GPA of 4.0 or above. They are very talented academically and have a variety of interests.”

Adams will study physics and mechanical engineering. He plans to start at Pellissippi State and then transfer to Tennessee Tech. At ORHS, Adams volunteered as a tutor and was in the National Honors Society. Memorable classes included calculus and physics. As an underclassman, he was involved in varsity football and track and field. His interests include guitar and visiting state and national parks.

Ayala will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and study graphic design. At ORHS, she was the design editor of the yearbook. In addition, she was assistant chief editor of the Oak Ridge Sports Media Club. Ayala was also the student leader of the Wildcat Pride Club. She enjoys photography, digital arts, and design.

Gormley will study at Pellissippi State for the first two years and transfer to Auburn University. Although undecided, she plans to study marketing and sales. At ORHS, she was on the Prom Board, Honors Orchestra, Work Based Learning, and made blankets for homeless shelters. She also was a training assistant teaching children at the Concord Yacht Club Sail Camp. Gormley is certified in CPR and first aid.

Quilty will study computer science, first at Roane State Community College and then at Tennessee Tech. At ORHS, he was a member of Masquers, Robotics electrical team, TSA, and Wildcat Manufacturing. At TSA State, Blayne was part of the team that won 1 st place in CAD Engineering and 1 st place on the Drone Challenge. At TSA Nationals, he was part of the team that won the 9 th place Drone Challenge.

Along with Smallridge, the scholarship selection committee comprised Lions Ron Bugos, Gaylan Good, Ann Rigell, George Smith, Bill Truex, and Ron Wilson.

The Oak Ridge Lions Club meets via Zoom at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month. The club meets at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month at Shoney’s, with a Zoom option available.
