One of the best ways to experience the USVIs is by sailboat and Blue Dream Charters did not disappoint. We booked a private charter for two days of our vacation where Tommy + Erin showed us some of the most beautiful spots in St. Thomas + St. John. The views were stunning and the snorkeling was so fun. We stopped by a few popular spots and visited hidden gems, learning history + fun facts along the way. Tacos + pizza for lunch were perfect after afternoons spent swimming. We had such an amazing time celebrating my brothers 30th birthday! Tommy and Luke were the absolute best, we could not have asked for better service. Six of us had a wonderful private charter out of Cruz Bay last week. Captain Will was knowledgable and accommodating of our diverse snorkel group, providing close supervision to those who needed it. Jarred (sp?), his first mate, was a wealth of information about the history, landscape, marine life and local culture peppering information into informal conversation throughout. We sailed, visited a couple of beautiful reefs we could not have accessed via Jeep on St. John, and enjoyed a very relaxing day on the water together. We got some great photos and will remember this experience as one of the highlights of our visit. Thanks Tommy and company for the memories made!

Captain Tommy and his crew catered to our every whim as they dodged the rainstorms and found the perfect, quiet, beautiful anchorage where they produced a delicious meal of fresh mahi or chicken tacos with all the fixings. The boat was extremely comfortable and spacious and a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy a special birthday. The margaritas were excellent, and they kept them coming. It was truly a perfect evening. Tap & Still is a local brewery that serves burgers, booze, breakfast and beer. The brewery was started as an attraction for cruise ship passengers but has become so much more.

Hooman Pedram is the owner of three Tap & Still restaurants and Chicken & Bowling. He wanted to start a distillery as an attraction for cruise ship passengers but found his business ventures took much of his time. Meanwhile, the Brugos brothers, Joe and John, were operating Virgin Islands Craft Distillers, a small-batch distillery in the Gregorie East Marina on St. Thomas, handcrafting vodka, rum and gin. They brought in a fourth partner, Mario Austin, a local rental car franchise owner, to form Rock City Brewing Company within the Tap & Still site in Havensight Mall.

The Old Stone Farm House Restaurant is an award-winning, fine dining restaurant set in a 200-year old, restored plantation field house overlooking the lush countryside of St. Thomas.

The once 300-acre plantation stretched from Magen’s bay to Mandahl. More than two centuries ago the Old Stone Farmhouse was the core of a Danish sugar plantation at Estate Lovendahl. The graceful arches, two- foot-thick walls, and majestic rafters are reminiscent of St. Thomas during the days of the flourishing Clipper Ship trade, sugar plantations on lush rolling hills, and the aristocratic mansions of prosperous merchants. ​

Today this magnificently converted farm building is considered one of the best examples of classic West Indian architecture on the island.

Magens Bay Beach consists of 68 pristine acreages: one mile of white sand beach, a six-acre arboretum consisting of large trees from four tropical continents, two-acre camping ground with parking, 5 acres of coconut groves, and 15 acres of mangroves and wetlands. The park has three bathhouses strategically located along the beach and four sheds for rentals for private parties, weddings, or other activities. There are many benches along the beach for your convenience.

Island Transportation

One of the best ways to get around in the U.S. Virgin Islands is by water! In fact, St. Thomas is one of the busiest cruise ports in the Caribbean. Another popular form of transportation is in a car–either renting your own or taking a taxi. In fact, because U.S. Virgin Islands are part of the United States, you don’t need a special driving permit, just a valid U.S. driver’s license. Keep in mind the roads are often narrow, winding, and steep.

If you prefer another form of transportation, you can always take public transportation to popular tourist spots, or go for an adventure with helicopter transportation or a seaplane ride to travel between islands!

The History of St. Thomas

Saint Thomas is the territorial capital of the Virgin Islands, located in the Caribbean Sea. It is an unincorporated territory of the United States and within its 32 square miles holds almost 50 percent of the U.S. Virgin Islands population.

The Virgin Islands became part of the United States in 1917 when it was purchased for $25 million in gold. The purchase was made as a strategic move during World War I to maintain control over the Caribbean and Panama Canal. One of the farthest British Virgin Islands, Virgin Gorda is home to the world-famous Baths – a series of giant smooth, granite boulders strewn across magnificent white sandy beaches. These boulders lean against each other making cathedral style “rooms” below filled with warm lapping water that surrounds your body and small tunnels to explore. The Baths is truly a unique destination for adventure seekers who enjoy boulder jumping or being off the beaten path.

A tour along the North side of St. John makes for a great start to your day on Take It Easy Custom Charters. As we journey along the coast, we can stop at what’s considered to be some of the best snorkeling on the island such as Waterlemon Cay, Maho Bay or Whistling Key.

The Caribbean is known for its clear waters and beautiful beaches. The snorkeling here is amazing, and Norman Island has two such spots.

The Indians are pinnacle rock formations jutting out of 60 feet deep water. Exposed to the currents, a constant source of food nourishes the coral and sea life making this one of the best snorkel destinations in the BVI.

The Caves are the legendary resting place of buried treasure that was the inspiration for the book Treasure Island. Three caves await to be explored teeming with marine life and mystery.

Buck Island is home to dozens of green sea turtles which are as close to tame as a wild turtle can get. Swim with the sea turtles and see other amazing marine life. Around the corner is an old navy barge ship wreck in 30′ of water, a snorkeler’s dream. Water Island is the Jost Van Dyke of the USVI with two awesome beach bars on honeymoon beach that serve amazing food and drinks.

Home to a super, upscale resort, Peter Island is a great place to spoil yourself. This resort has a pool bar, upscale gift shop and day spa. Dead Man’s Beach is the only beach in the islands with sugar sand, the softest sand on planet earth!

If you have ventured all the way out to Virgin Gorda, then Cooper Island is a great place for lunch. This tiny island used to be a must stop for pirates and merchants back in the day to get their water and rum barrels repaired. Now it has a great little restaurant and fully-stocked rum bar that serves every rum made in the Caribbean!

So, you want to visit stunning white sandy beaches, crystal clear blue waters and have loads of beach bars to choose from? Then, Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgins Islands is the destination for you!

Home to only 280 people and over 30 beach bars, Jost is the ultimate fun in the sun destination.

You will need your passport and go through customs to visit Jost Van Dyke since it is in British territory. We go through customs on a regular basis so contact us if you have any questions.

While almost every boat going to the BVI will stop in Tortola for customs, this island is straight up neglected by the day boat community. Tortola has the only beaches left in the Virgin Islands where it will be just you on it!

An Hour Late is a great breakfast and lunch spot and they open quite early, so feel free to grab some breakfast prior to your morning briefings.  They also make some awesome "create your own" sandwiches if you're looking for something easy to take along for day one.

Captain Kyle and Henry were fabulous! This activity made an incredible vacation fabulous! Kyle and Henry made everyone comfortable and make the trip fun. Kyle even gave us some history of the landmarks we saw. I would recommend Kyle and Henry and this boat ride as a must do!

This day was great and so was the boat and the captain. We had our family of 4 and we went out with Brian for a full day around St John. We had such a great time and he was the nicest person and so easy to talk to. He also knew alot about the island and its history. He also made the best rum punch. (best we had while on the island for a week) BEST DAY WE HAD ON VACAY. Highly recommend this company for your boat day needs and ask for Brian.

What a great time we had. Wedding went well, and the snorkeling at water island. They took us where we saw sea turtles and stingrays. The captain and Rachel we such great hosts, so attentive and just so nice. We all enjoyed our half day tour. Can’t say enough good things about them!

We spent half day celebrating our friends one-year Wedding Anniversary on Pisces catamaran! It was such an amazing time; Captain Connor and his first mate Chelsea were excellent! It was tranquil and quite relaxing; I will certainly use them again when ever my family and friends visit us in St. Thomas! I will also recommend Seas the Day Charters and Tours to my Airbnb guests!

What an incredible day!! Captan Bryan is amazing and probably the best captain we’ve ever had! He listened to basically what we wanted to do and then crafted the itinerary to perfection. We circumnavigated St. John and he took us to some of the most beautiful spots for snorkeling and just relaxing in the water. His superb timing got us to Lime Out for lunch at JUST the right time to secure us the best Lilly pad in the house! He was personal and informative and took the trip (which would have been great by itself) to the next level. Highly recommend!!

We had an absolutely fabulous day with Glenn! Truly, it could not have been better! Glenn is a very experienced sailor and very knowledgeable about the Caribbean. He is also a great guy and we all thoroughly enjoyed hanging with him for the day. We snorkeled at several great spots in the BVI, visited Willie T's and Soggy Dollar.

Whenever we visit St John "Boat Day" is always everyone's favorite day of the the vacation. This year was fabulous! We are a 3 generation family of 11 with six kids ages 9 and under. Captain Alex and First mate Aaron found out exactly what we like to do and they made it happen. The snorkeling was amazing, lunch from the pizza boat was delicious and fun and the time out on the water all day cannot be beat. Thank you Seas the Day and especially to Alex and Aaron. Our day really could not have been better!!!

An amazing experience to St. John! We went to snorkel at 2 different places that were both beautiful! Captain Greg and Coleman were amazing and so nice. They answered all of our many questions about the island and gave us the best information. They were so knowledgeable! We never felt rushed and we felt like they wanted to give us the best experience possible. The boat was so clean and the snorkeling gear was great. Very professional. This is the charter to book!

He learned how to drive a boat at eleven years old while fishing with his father around the waters of St. Thomas and St. John. After spending his college years in Miami, he decided to return to the island and immediately began working back on the water. Before moving on to captain Singularity, Shermon owned and ran a power boat day charter business as well as a jet ski tour agency. Shermon is a certified mechanic and engineer, and holds a 100 ton Master’s License. When he’s not running boats on the water Shermon enjoys spending time with his son and their animals. FIRST MATE, EMMA CHASIN First Mate Emma Chasin was born and raised outside of Boston, MA and spent her summers exploring the beaches of Cape Cod. After attending college in Rhode Island and graduating with a degree in Public Health, Emma moved to Washington, DC. It was only a few short years of working in health policy before she decided to pursue a life on the water. Emma spent her first boating season in the Mediterranean, sailing the waters surrounding Italy and Spain. She has lived in St. Thomas for nearly five years, where she has worked for several sailing and power boat companies. Clean, Renewable Energy The project is a collaboration between IGY and Prosolar Caribbean, a leading solar energy provider in the region.  IGY installed a rooftop photovoltaic generation array that generates clean, renewable energy for the mixed-use property. Power from panels will supply a meaningful share of Yacht Haven Grande’s energy needs, reduce the property’s reliance on fossil fuels and lower its carbon footprint.  Additionally, the project will lessen demand on the local utility grid, freeing up power for use by the surrounding community. “This solar project is a milestone for IGY’s renewable energy solutions and our ongoing commitment to sustainability initiatives across our global portfolio of industry-best marinas.  We are committed to working with our partners to find innovative ways to reduce our environmental impact and create a more sustainable future for the marina industry.” said Steven English, IGY’s President.
