Welcome to AFAR Approved: a deep dive into the travel items that we’re totally obsessed with, never leave behind, and can’t stop telling our friends about.

Let’s face it: This is not the summer we’d hoped to have. Countless canceled trips, parties, events . . . we can’t go anywhere! We can’t do anything! What a downer! But it’s time to take what’s left of summer into our own hands.

I live on Long Island, about an hour from New York City, and I’m never more than 20 minutes from the shore. My typical summer followed a simple equation: towels, sunscreen, beach—every chance I could get. Though local beaches have been open (with restrictions) since Memorial Day, there are still complications brought on by COVID-19. Did you know Long Island beaches reach capacity (which has been cut in half) by roughly 9 a.m. every weekend day? And once you’re there, social distancing becomes a challenge. What do you do when someone’s football lands on your beach blanket ? Can you really make your kids keep a mask on? I’ve since discovered that the best way to spend a socially distant day on the water is to actually spend it on the water—you’ve got to get on a boat.

Luckily, there’s a website for that. With Boatsetter , an eight-year-old peer-to-peer boat rental platform based in South Florida, you can book a private boat—everything from fishing boats to sailboats to fully crewed yachts—for the day (or a half day, or even a full week). Think of it like Airbnb, but for boats. My Boatsetter experience was a two-hour sunset cruise, which left from Sag Harbor and meandered around the Peconic Bay (between Long Island’s forks) . Our ride? A 43-foot Azimut Atlantis—someone’s brand-new yacht—that was large enough to accommodate me and nine guests. My brother and his girlfriend came, as did my parents, and even my grandparents—it was their biggest day out since the pandemic started in March.

This large, fancy boat came with a fancy crew: Captain Kent was behind the wheel along with his first mate, Annika. Of course, my first thought was the same as yours— you’re not supposed to be socializing with Captain Kent! It’s coronavirus! Well, on a 43-foot boat there’s plenty of space for social distancing. Kent made it clear that when we were up near the helm, or walking through the cabin, we had to keep our masks on. We could remove our masks outdoors around the people we came with, as long as we were more than six feet from him and his crew. They kept their masks on the whole time, even as Kent entertained a running list of boat questions from my grandfather (an ex-cruise ship navigator).

We were encouraged to bring food and drinks onboard, with water and ice provided, which meant we brought a typical over-the-top antipasto platter—breads, meats, cheeses, olives, the whole thing—as well as our own wine and cocktails. Yes, we shared with Captain Kent (not the alcohol, of course). After cruising around for a little while, we anchored and were able to jump off the boat for a swim before heading slowly back to the marina.

After the boat ride I felt refreshed and, dare I say it, normal for the first time this summer. It was especially nice to be able to safely bring my grandparents; I know they have been suffering from cabin fever during the pandemic.

Boatsetter is available in 600+ locations worldwide with more than 6,000 vessels to choose from. Prices range from $200–$10,000. Our yacht was a $2,000 excursion—but the experience felt invaluable.

The Flying Carpet in Cullman, Alabama

a house with a deck and trees around it

We never thought we'd find such great Moroccan-inspired decor in Alabama, yet here we are. This romantic getaway in the northern part of the state is surrounded by enchanting trees and a charming creek, and the space itself is filled with lush furnishings and fabrics to make your stay as glamorous and comfortable as ever. Plus, there's a private hot tub you can use year-round.

Wilderness Yurt in Seward, Alaska

a couple of cabins in the woods

This Airbnb is proof that what's on the inside counts. Though this forest lodging may look a bit bare on the outside, the interior is warm and inviting, perfect to escape the cold. This secluded spot is only accessible by boat with guarantees of seeing some wildlife.

Earthen Home in Jerome, Arizona

a small building with a stone patio

Built in 1977 by late architect Paul Nonnast, the House on the Edge of Time is partially carved into the earth and uses natural materials. It comprises bumpy paths and steep edges, but if you stay in a place like this, you'll have a truly unique experience. There is a hot tub and the bedroom has air conditioning, but the space is more suited for those who love to be outdoors. Just note that it is not ADA-compliant.

Stoneflower Cottage in Heber Springs, Arkansas

a room with a bed and a table

The star of this Airbnb is the architecture both inside and out. Located on a little almost-island off of Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas, this serene home was designed by architect E. Fay Jones. The different levels of the home feel like two separate destinations: On the lower level, you're surrounded by natural stone and boulders, and on the main level, you get to admire redwood beams and floors throughout. The architectural details on the main and upper levels are something you will want to write home about.

Pinecone Treehouse in Bonny Doon, California

a lantern from a tree

You're not seeing things—this really is a treehouse shaped like a pinecone. California is full of interesting places to stay, but this one in the western part of the state wins the title of the coolest Airbnb. It definitely isn't the most spacious place to stay, but you'll be suspended in a forest surrounded by redwood trees. It provides one bedroom and one bathroom—but the toilet is a compostable one, so just be aware of that.

Dome Home in Centennial, Colorado

a house with a large glass window

Have you ever wondered what having an indoor pool in your office would be like? Well, turn that dream into a reality by staying at this Airbnb with a heated saltwater pool and three WFH stations. The property host makes it very clear that children under the age of 12 are not allowed on this property, so if that doesn't affect you, prepare to be blown away by the interesting design of this dome home. It has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as an indoor hot tub, a private outdoor space, wall waterfalls, and plenty of natural light.

Artist's Loft in Stonington, Connecticut

a living room with a fireplace

This guesthouse provides the backdrop for a dreamy weekend getaway in Connecticut: Lots of warmth, a wood-burning fireplace, mismatched furniture, a vaulted ceiling, and a charming outdoor space. Known as the Dacha, this home was built in 1945 originally as an artist's studio, and it does share the outdoor space with the host family in the main house. However, the description promises only a wave from them if you do see each other—your privacy is of the utmost importance.

Beachfront Home in Milton, Delaware

a group of houses in a wooded area

If you want a top Airbnb directly on the beach, you can't get much closer than this one without being in the ocean. This private beachfront property removes the crowds from the sand and allows you and your guests to fully relax by the water. It's fairly secluded but only a 15- to 20-minute drive from the nearest town for when you need some social interaction.

The Grand Tiki in Key West, Florida

a house on a dock in the water

The price of this top Airbnb is not for the faint of heart, but how much cooler can you get than a luxury, two-person boat? Besides, you won't just be paying for a place to sleep—when you rent this Airbnb, you're also given access to two inflatable paddle boards, two sets of snorkel gear, a double hammock, and some of the most amazing sunsets you could dream of. The interior is also extremely on theme with straw accents and warm wood tones.

The Lens Lodge in Ellijay, Georgia

a small house with a slide

Can you guess why it's called the Lens Lodge? This picture-perfect Airbnb in Georgia lets you sleep inside the lens of the camera, which is 15 feet above the ground. The inside of this home is sleek, modern, and mostly white, making it a stark contrast to the nature surrounding the property. Though it may feel like you're staying in the middle of nowhere in the Blue Ridge Mountains, there are plenty of attractions nearby that you can get to via car, including four wineries.

Volcano Dome in Mountain View, Hawaii

a tent in the woods

Made from cindercrete, staying in this top Airbnb is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With a 25-foot ceiling and a skylight at the top, let the sun shine down on you in your livable volcano, complete with a circle bed, “lava” floor, and limestone bathtub. Plus, the property is powered by solar energy. Located on the Big Island about a 10-minute drive from the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, you can't get much more in touch with nature than this.

a building with a large arched doorway

Experience what life would be like as a garden elf when you stay at this cool Airbnb in Idaho. Top Secret Silo in Wilson, Kansas

a room with a staircase and chairs

After you stay at this top Airbnb, you'll be able to say you've spent the night in an underground missile silo. Thankfully, as the description points out, this one was never used to deliver a weapon of mass destruction, but it was the launch control center for an Atlas F Missile Base. It has two bedrooms and one bathroom with a shared living space that will have to accommodate tour guests during specific hours—but it'll be a truly educational trip.

Vrbo Keeps Taking Jabs at Airbnb With New Ad Campaign to Recruit Hosts

James Farrell, Skift

August 21st, 2024 at 2:41 PM EDT

While Vrbo's new ad campaign to attract hosts doesn't mention its competitor Airbnb by name, Expedia’s smaller short-term rental platform keeps poking at what makes it different from the industry juggernaut.

James Farrell

Expedia’s short-term rental platform Vrbo is trying to attract hosts with a new line of ads that offer the same promise it advertises to renters: a stress-free alternative to competitors like Airbnb.

The short-term rental platform has expanded its “Relax, you booked a Vrbo” branding campaign into a new line of ads appealing to hosts, centered around the slogan: “Relax, you host on Vrbo.”

And while none of the new spots explicitly mention industry titan Airbnb, Vrbo continues to take veiled shots at its biggest competitor, poking at key differences between the two platforms – like Vrbo’s stated tendency to attract longer-term guests and its fledgling OneKey rewards program.

One ad features a man and a boy relaxing in a fishing boat on a lake and invites hosts to “sit back and attract repeat guests” at their properties, thanks to Vrbo’s rewards program for travelers, OneKey , “a rewards program you won’t find on any other platform.”

The program allows users to collect OneKey cash by booking through Expedia and its subsidiaries Hotels.com and Vrbo. That cash can be used to pay for future bookings across all three platforms.

Indeed, Expedia sees its OneKey program as a potential boon to Vrbo’s growth. In an earnings call earlier this month, Expedia CEO Ariane Gorin said Vrbo had seen improvements in growth in the second quarter, and cited OneKey as part of the reason why. She noted that 30% of Expedia or Hotels.com travelers who earned OneKey cash went on to try Vrbo for the first time.

Expedia didn’t respond to emailed questions from Skift on whether OneKey has been shown to bring in more repeat guests, as the new ad claims.

Meanwhile, Airbnb has long been considered an outlier in the hospitality industry for its lack of a loyalty program, but the company has shown little urgency in launching one. CEO Brian Chesky told Skift earlier this year the company could “probably” start up some sort of rewards program in the future, but he ruled out using a traditional points- or subsidy-based system. Chesky has said that building a more personalized platform is more effective at building loyalty than a rewards program.

Another new ad builds on Vrbo’s attempts to define itself as a platform for longer-term stays – appealing to hosts searching for steadier, lower-maintenance guests.

The ad script notes how “other vacation platforms offer a flurry of guests coming and going,” as the camera pans over spilled popcorn and orange peels scattered in the grass. But the narrator promises Vrbo guests stay at properties “significantly longer,” so hosts “can take your mind off it and relax.”

The camera zooms out to reveal the litter isn’t surrounding a trashed and busy vacation rental property, but is scattered around a picnic blanket, where a lounging woman gets a message from a guest thanking her for a two-week stay at her Vrbo property.

Vrbo’s focus on whole-home listings with higher-end amenities has helped it carve out a niche as a vacation rental platform that emphasizes the “vacation” aspect, attractive to families and larger groups looking to hunker down. The company has reported longer stays in recent years, and here tries to differentiate itself from platforms like Airbnb, whose wider range of listings could attract a broader range of guests – including more transient travelers looking for quick, budget-friendly lodgings.

For Vrbo, owning that niche might be key to building a brand that can compete with Airbnb – still the Goliath in this David and Goliath story. A May report from AirDNA found Airbnb had roughly 1.4 million listings in 2024 compared to Vrbo’s 630,000, thanks to Airbnb’s brand recognition and global reach. Vrbo operates mostly in the U.S.

Vrbo has sought to expand its advertising to target Airbnb in recent years. Former Expedia CEO Peter Kern praised recent ad work “designed to punch our main competitor squarely in the nose” at a conference earlier this year. These ads are no exception.

In two other new ads appealing to guests, Vrbo doubles down on prior shots against Airbnb by again highlighting its commitment to host-free stays, which are not always guaranteed on Airbnb.

One of those ads, for instance, leans into the “Relax, you booked a Vrbo” theme, with two side-by-side videos: one half of the screen shows a man timidly walking around a vacation rental with a host lingering on site, and the other features a man dancing in his underwear around a host-free rental.

Airbnb didn’t respond to Skift’s emailed request for comment.

21 Unique Things You Can Rent for Money

A re you looking for ways to make extra money from home? One unexpected way to generate cash and passive income is to rent things you already own! Stuff that you have and that somebody else needs. Stuff that you're not always using. Wondering what sorts of items you can rent for money? You'd be surprised!

Here are 21 things you can rent for money.

1. Rent Your Land to Campers

Gamping or garden camping is a new and ingenious way to earn money from your land. You don’t necessarily need tons of acreage to do it, either. Part of the appeal of garden camping is the easy access to amenities like water, electricity, and bathrooms, so you can rent your backyard just as easily as your farm or forest property.

How it works: List your space and decide if you want to let campers ‘bare pitch’ (bring their own tents, trailers, and motorhomes) or if you’re going to provide a fully accommodated, ready-to-camp experience.

  • HomeCamper  is by far the most popular website to list your gamping rental. It features thousands of campsites across the US, South America, Europe, Australia, and even remote islands!
  • Campspace  is a popular website in Europe but has listings all over the world. (Don’t let the price in Euros throw you off!)

2. List Your Home or Spare Room

People rent homes worldwide, and chances are, someone wants to visit where you live, too. With sites like  Airbnb , you can list your whole house or even a private room or basement area.

There are also several other sites available for you to list your home:

  • Tripadvisor  owns a few different vacation rental websites. Each website is marketed to a different audience, with different destination and language offerings. Sign up in a single location, and Trip Advisor will distribute your listing globally in different languages on  Tripadvisor Rentals ,  Flip Key ,  HolidayLettings , or  Niumba —or all of the above!
  • VRBO  features vacation rentals all over the world. Like Tripadvisor, VRBO owns several sites, which it will cross-list on, depending on the renter’s location:  Stayz ,  Abritel ,  FeWo-direkt , and  bookabach .
  • Homestay  is geared toward travelers who want a local experience. Listings are generally for single rooms, and hosts are expected to be present during their guest’s stay.
  • Rent Like a Champion  initially started as a site for college students to find housing near football games, but now it hosts rooms near all sorts of sporting events.

A relatively recent service is rentals for senior citizens and empty nesters.  Silvernest  and  Nesterly  are two websites that match older homeowners with safe and reliable long-term renters. Both sites perform background checks and screening for safety.

3. Rent Your Kitchen

Have a magazine-worthy kitchen? You can sign up to host cooking classes and private dinners in your home on  Cozymeal . Cozymeal is a platform that features all sorts of exciting foodie experiences, from cooking classes to coffee tastings. While many of the Chefs choose to travel to the customer’s location to teach their classes, Cozymeal will also allow third parties to list their property as a venue.

4. Rent Your Driveway

Renting your parking space is quite popular in bigger cities, especially if you live in an area where parking is an issue or close to downtown, an event center, or a popular tourist destination.

Parquex ,  Spot Hero , and  CurbFlip  are all sites for renting your parking spot in the US. You can list your driveway or garage by the hour, day, week, or month. If you live in the UK, try  Just Park  or  Park on My Drive .

5. Rent Your Garden

If you love the idea of a beautiful garden but weren’t blessed with a green thumb,  Shared Earth  is just the site for you! Shared Earth is a nonprofit garden-share program run by Sustainable America. You can list your land or just a plot in your yard. The site is free to use, and the rental terms are handled privately between the renter and the landowner.

Note:  Most rental agreements do not include financial payment on Shared Earth, so don’t set out expecting to get rich. Instead, landowners are paid via a portion of the food that is produced by their gardens. However, there are times when a rental fee may be appropriate, for instance, when someone wants to do commercial farming.

6. Turn Your Backyard Into a Dog Park

If you like the idea of backyard Airbnb rentals, consider renting your backyard as a play space for pet owners on  Sniffspot . Private, fenced yards in cities are popular listings, as well as remote acreage where dogs are welcome to explore off-leash. Hosts can earn $3,000 a month and, in some cases, more!

7. Rent Your Property for Movie Sets

Don’t own a home or romantic getaway? No worries! There’s demand for all sorts of properties as film sets. Old barn? Abandoned warehouse? Say no more!

SetScouter  and  LocationsHub  are two websites where you can list your property as a film location. While, yes, abandoned buildings can be found on the site, homes, hotels, schools, churches, bars, restaurants, office buildings, undeveloped land, and more can all be potential film sites.

Both  Giggster  and  Splacer  have slightly broader offerings. You can use these sites to list your property for rent as a film location, workspace, or event space. Again, just about anything goes!

8. Rent Your Extra Storage Space

If you have spare space in your garage, workshop, driveway, or backyard, consider renting it out as storage space on  Neighbor  or  Stow It . Cars, boats, and RVs are common large items people often seek affordable, long-term storage for, but you can also rent out your attic for Christmas decorations or a backyard for someone’s large arts and crafts project.

9. Rent Your Boat

If you’re a boat owner, why let your boat sit in the dock (or in your driveway) while you’re not using it? With these websites and apps, it doesn’t have to!

Boatsetter  lets you build a profile that includes listing your amenities and setting your price … you can even choose a captain! Motorized fishing and sports boats, party boats, yachts, and sailboats are the main draw on this site, but you can also list your jet ski. Boatsetter is available throughout the US, Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and Asia. Boatsetter is the only platform that provides insurance—through GEICO or BoatUS.

GetMyBoat  is an app for renting all types of watercraft – from sailboats, fishing boats, and yachts to paddleboards and kayaks. The app features listings worldwide but is the most popular in the US, Europe, West Asia, and the Caribbean.

You can use  Click&Boat  to rent your motorized boat, sailboat, yacht, RIB boat, or jet ski. Click&Boat offers the largest range of locations where you can list your boat—you can find listings just about anywhere!

10. Rent Your Bike

Have a bike that spends more time sitting in the garage? Rent it for money when you’re not using it, and watch the passive income roll in! Spinlister  is the global bike share that helps active people connect with trusted bike owners around the world. Renting your bike is easy! Create your listing, confirm your bookings, and let renters pick up their rides.

11. Rent Your Surfboard

The Quiver  is a surfboard rental site that has seen considerable success and is still growing. And it’s not just for travelers and vacations. Surfers use the service to try out new boards before buying their own, so if you live near a popular surfing destination, give it a try! Listings can be found on every continent, and you can choose to rent your board by the day, week, or even month.

12. Rent Your Car for Money

Why not earn money from your car when you’re not using it?

Getaround is an app that connects potential renters and car owners. Getaround is available throughout the US and offers 24/7 roadside assistance and insurance with every rental.

Turo is another popular app that you can use to rent your car for cash! Just download the app, create your account, and manage when your car is available for rental. According to their website, you can an average of $10,516 annually by renting one car out.

Another platform you can use is HyreCar . What this app does, is rent out your car to people who would like to drive for rideshare companies like Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash . With this platform, you'll sign up for an account, list your vehicle, and set your rates and times it's available.

If you own a truck, you’re probably already used to helping friends move (probably frequently). Others in your city could also use your help! If you own a truck or another moving vehicle, you can list it on  Fluid Truck —no lifting required.

13. Rent Your RV

RVshare  and  RVesy  are both on-demand platforms that connect RV owners with renters. Booked rentals include 24/7 roadside assistance (so you know your RV is in good hands) and RV rental insurance.

While RVshare and RVesy exclusively list newer campers and motorhomes (less than 20 years old),  Outdoorsy  welcomes the less conventional. In addition to traditional RVs, you can find VW camper vans, vintage trailers, converted vehicles, custom paint jobs, and more! Even if you don’t list your vehicle, you’ll enjoy browsing Outdoorsy’s Insta-worthy collection. Outdoorsy offers insurance and roadside assistance on all rentals at no additional cost to you.

RVshare and Outdoorsy are available in the US only, while RVesy is in the US and Canada. If you live abroad, check out  Campanda , which is based in Germany and features listings throughout Europe.

14. Rent Your Closet

If you’re a fashionista with a designer wardrobe, you could be earning cash! If it’s in your closet, you can probably rent it—clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories are all hot rental items.

Rent My Wardrobe  is a place where you can borrow designer items and lend your own for cash. Just create an account with items you're willing to rent out. Then when someone expresses interest in renting an item, meet them in person to exchange the item. They then return the item to a dry cleaner of your choice, and you pick it up from the dry cleaner. Your items are leased out for a four-day period, and Rent My Wardorde takes an 18% fee from your total rental price. Payouts are made on the second rental day via the platform.

15. Be a Friend

Have you ever found yourself in need of some company, whether it’s to go to dinner and a movie, to a special event or party, or even just out for coffee? Well, you’re not alone, so if you’re willing to be a friend to others, consider renting out yourself!

RentAFriend  is a site that allows you to rent local friends from all over the world. People in your area can search and find you if you’re willing and eager to make new friends. You can generally earn about $10 an hour, but that’s also negotiable, depending on the activity planned. There could even be perks like free tickets, meals, and trips! You can join for free and upload your photos and create a profile so possible friends can find you. Contact is made through an anonymous messaging system to negotiate plans, price, time, etc.

16. Rent Your Photography Equipment

Maybe you’re a photographer who already owns the latest and greatest gear, but your schedule is a little empty, and your stuff is just sitting there. Why not rent it out for money?

ShareGrid  and  KitSplit  are both sites that allow you to do just that. List your items, respond to requests, and then collect your cash when the rental is complete. Both companies offer insurance on your equipment, but always do your research to determine if additional coverage is necessary.

17. Rent Your Baby Gear for Cash

Have a spare high chair, stroller, toys, or crib you no longer use? Instead of selling it for pennies on the dollar at a garage sale, consider renting it out on  BabyQuip . All types of baby products are available for rent in almost every major city across the US, and the platform is gaining traction internationally. BabyQuip maintains high levels of sanitation and safety standards and is fully insured, so you can rent your gear stress-free. Check out this post for more information on starting a baby equipment rental business .

18. Rent Your Swimming Pool

With everyone stuck at home during the pandemic, swimming pool rentals became a popular way for people to get out of the house while remaining quarantined within their family group. If you have a pool and would like to make extra income renting out your pool, check out Swimply ! Just create an account listing your pool's details, price per hour, and location. Swimply provides $1,000,000 in insurance coverage, so you can rent with peace of mind. According to their website, you can earn $5,000 a month renting your pool out by the hour! Payments come through Stripe, and Swimply takes a 15% service fee.

19. Advertising Space

If you live near a busy road, drive in a highly populated area, or have a website or YouTube channel that gets a lot of web visitors, you can earn rental income by selling advertising space online and in person.

With Carertise , you can earn extra cash, up to $500 a month, for placing an advertising wrap on your car. When using this method, you'll need to drive a certain number of miles each month to ensure that the advertiser gets adequate exposure.

With billboard advertising, the billboard company will place the billboard o your property and negotiate a contract for terms of use and pay. According to Capitol Outdoor , the average rental income is around $1,500-$2,000 per month.

If you have a high-traffic website, YouTube Channel , newsletter , or podcast , you can rent ad space on those channels. How much you can earn will all depend on how many followers you have, your niche, and your engagement rates. Even smaller bloggers can make money by renting advertising space on their blogs.

20. Birthday Parties

Parents love creating memorable events for their children's birthdays; however, they don't want to have to buy and store all the necessary tools to create an over-the-top event. This is where you come in! You can start your own rental business with the company Elite Teepees and create dream sleepover parties for children.

With this business opportunity, you'll set up the adorable teepees and decor and then come and take them down after the party is over. Business owners can earn $26,000-$54,000 annually by putting on two parties a week with an average of four guests per party. You can earn more depending on the number of guests and the number of parties per week.

21. General Goodies

You can actually rent out almost anything: pickup trucks, apparel, snowboards, jet skis, motorcycles, electronics, car seats, appliances … you name it; it’s probably for rent somewhere.

On sites the sites below, you can list pretty much whatever you own that you think others might have an interest in.

  • While you can list anything for rent on  FriendWithA , electric scooters, bikes, musical equipment, and camera equipment seem to be the top items on this site. FriendWithA requires ID verification on goods worth more than $1,000 and offers property and liability insurance with each listing.
  • Fat Llama  is primarily available in the UK but has recently started featuring listings in New York. You can use Fat Llama to rent your camera gear, DJ equipment,  drones , musical instruments, electric scooters, electronics, sewing machines, RV, tools, and more.
  • Speaking of  Craigslist , it’s still one of the best sites to go to for all things classifieds. If you can sell it on Craigslist, you can probably rent it there too!

Final Thoughts: How to Safely Rent For Money

The peer-to-peer rental marketplace has exploded in popularity in the years since it first came out. There’s now a market and rental site for just about anything you can dream up! For maximum visibility, cross-post your goods with more than one company above or places like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Then, you can narrow in on the platforms that work best!

As with all sites that allow you to rent for money, you’ll get the best results when you thoroughly research the platform’s terms, fees, and insurance policies. There may be times when you need to purchase additional coverage or have your own rental agreement in place. Many disputes can be avoided by taking the time to vet your renters, and most platforms allow you the opportunity to do so before booking. Ask where they will be taking your rental, its intended use, their experience using it, and other relevant questions.
