BURGER BOAT |
Manitowoc WI |
Most recent update: October 20, 2021. |
Burger Boat was founded in 1863 in Manitowoc WI, by Henry B. Burger and continues in business today. The original shipyard was sold in 1902 to what is now Manitowoc Corporation, but the next generation of the Burger family had already started a new shipyard in 1892, across from the old one. Burger Boat Co was incorporated in 1915 and operated for 70 years. Then in 1986 it was sold to John McMillan, who sold it in 1989 to Tacoma Boat, which closed in 1990. The present owners, Shipbuilders of Wisconsin, Inc., d.b.a. Burger Boat Company, bought it in 1993 and have returned to the boatbuilding business, only on a somewhat reduced scale. If anyone can fill any of the gaps in the table below, please e-mail your input to me at . Visit the shipyard at . You can see it from the air on Google . |

Famous superyacht JUBILEE that has been creating a buzz on social media since her official launch in 2017, has now been renamed “ SECRET III ” following a change of ownership.
110m mega yacht SECRET III (ex Jubilee)
She has just undergone a refit at Lurssen, although she was built by Oceanco and designed by Lobanov Yacht Design . She is still the largest yacht that has been ever built in the Netherlands, measuring 110m/361ft. With a beam of 16.40m/53.9ft, she offers massive living areas indoors and on decks.
It’s been reported that during the refit she has received some modifications at the stern and aft deck area. On decks, she features a huge swimming pool, spacious sunning and relaxing spaces, alfresco dining areas and several lounges.
The interiors were created by Sam Sorgiovanni . Accommodation is offered for up to 30 guests in 15 cabins. The crew quarters allow for up to 46 crew.
To date, it has not been confirmed whether SECRET III would join the charter world.

110m Oceanco ‘Jubilee’ sold by Burgess
Burgess has now sold 26 brokerage yachts in 2018, amounting to over $1 billion in sales….
Burgess has announced the in-house sale of the 110m gargantuan, Jubilee , which was listed for sale at €275 million shortly before her delivery by Oceanco in July 2017.
Not only is it one of the largest brokerage sales of all time, but the sale helps Burgess’ brokerage division seal a record-breaking year: in 2018 thus far, the firm has sold 26 yachts with an average LOA of 53.4m, amounting to over $1 billion in brokerage sales.
Originally built for the late Emir of Qatar, it is alleged but not confirmed that the new owner is a member of the Walton family, the founders of American multinational retail corporation, Walmart.
Jubilee had a tremendous reception upon delivery as the largest ever Dutch-built yacht – a title that she will soon share with the 110m Feadship, Anna, upon her delivery. Her striking and curvaceous lines were carefully and cleverly drawn by Lobanov Design to give the illusion of a much larger vessel.
Built to PYC, she has a fully certified helicopter operating deck forward with a concealed mooring deck below. Among bounteous other impressive features, she has a large swimming pool aft on the main deck with a built-in aquarium and beach club below. Sam Sorgiovanni designed the interior to be both spacious and rich, offering accommodation for up to 30 guests in 15 staterooms, including a private owner's deck.
In a statement issued to SuperyachtNews , Jonathan Beckett, CEO of Burgess, said, “This marks a milestone in Burgess' history. Jubilee is very close to our hearts; following the initial introduction of the client to the shipyard, Burgess New Construction saw her successful build and delivery.
“Then, 18 months later, our sales force closed the transaction, making it one of the largest deals not only in 2018 but in superyachting history. Oceanco really set the standard when producing this award-winning yacht, and I wish her new owners many happy years on board.”
With 81.8m Kibo and 70m Saint Nicholas also changing hands in November, it has been a strong month for brokerage sales in the upper size ranges.

Jubilee Boat | 49' Beneteau 2007
A VERY SPECIAL BOAT
This Boat of the Year Winner (Cruising World Magazine), has very nice lines, on deck; it’s easy to move around with the wide sidedecks, and the ergonomic cockpit will comfortably hold 8-10. Twin helms, electric winches and auto-pilot make it easy to sail single or double-handed.
Down below, she has a warm an inviting Cherry interior, plenty of light and ventilation—the owner also added heating—in a very roomy two-cabin layout (both cabins feel like “owner’s cabins”), and a large L-shaped galley. Cockpit teak and interior wood is very well kept-up and shines, she has been extremely well-cared for by her owner. A great value at her price!
This Beneteau 49 comes with these great features:
- Built-in central heater,
- Wheel and winch covers, dodger, and bimini tent, custom cushions,
- Teak in cockpit seating and companionway, recently redone,
- LED lighting,
- Water filtration system,
- Chartplotter in cockpit (Raymarine E120) and by nav station (Raymarine E80)
- 3 Lewmar Power winches in stainless steel,
- Bow thruster,
- New Furling Main with Sunbrella cover. Genoa with Sunbrella cover.
- Electric heads with fresh water flush,
Review from the Cruising World Magazine Boat of the Year (Full-Size Production Cruisers) article:
“The Beneteau sailed well, too. In 8 knots of breeze, it sailed along close-hauled at about 6 knots, and when cracked off to a reach, the speed increased to just under 7 knots. On deck, naval architects Berret Racoupeau created an appealing and modern look, giving the 49 a clean, uncluttered foredeck, a cabin top with a slight arch, and a spacious cockpit featuring twin helms and a walk-through transom.
Below, Beneteau brought in Italian megayacht designers Nauta Yachts to give the 49 an elegant air from stem to stern. Cabinetry is made from moabi hardwood, which is offset by light-colored fabrics and paneling to give the saloon and cabins a bright and airy feel, prompting one judge to remark on its warmth. From a well-equipped nav station to a pop-up flat-screen television by the forward bulkhead, it offered lots of comforts for family cruising.” – Cruising World
