Watch: 90m Lürssen superyacht Ice collides into 31m Numarine yacht in Turkey
The 90.1-metre Lürssen superyacht Ice has collided with the 31.1-metre Numarine yacht A.Mey in Yalıkavak, Turkey.
Dramatic footage taken of the incident shows Ice 's bow strike A.Mey with enough force to turn the yacht. The extent of damage is unknown but A.Mey 's aft section appears to be badly damaged. The yacht was anchored when the collision took place, with 12 people on board at the time. No injuries have been reported.

Ice was delivered by the German shipyard in 2005 to a design by Tim Heywood . According to BOATPro , she was most recently listed for sale in 2023. Her last known asking price of €100,000,000 made her one of the most expensive yachts for sale at the time, with highlights that include a large helipad and five bathtubs carved from solid limestone. She won Motor Yacht of the Year at the 2006 World Superyacht Awards .
Delivered in 2007, A.Mey belongs to Numarine's 102 RPH series with exterior design owed to Tommaso Spadolini .

Footage being circulated online shows the moment that the 90.1m Lürssen superyacht Ice collided with the Numarine yacht A.Mey , in the Turkish holiday hotspot Yalıkavak.
The footage shows the Lürssen yacht approaching the rear of A.Mey at speed, before making contact with a loud bang and causing the smaller vessel to spin. The 31-metre Numarine — itself a superyacht, albeit dwarfed by Ice — is dragged along for several seconds as Ice moves past. The cause of the crash is unknown but it’s understood the yacht was being anchored when the collision took place.
The full extent of the damage to either vessel is unknown, but images posted online show the collision had enough force to significantly damage A.Mey ‘s aft section , and cause damage to Ice ‘s bow.

Ice was constructed by German shipyard Lürssen in 2005 and designed by Tim Heywood. It was most recently put on the market in 2023, with an asking price of €100m (£84.2m). Ice boasts a helipad and five solid limestone bathtubs. It can accommodate up to 14 guests and 27 crew members.
Delivered in 2007, A.Mey is part of Numarine’s 102 RPH series and has an exterior designed by Tommaso Spadolini.
There has been a spate of incidents involving large yachts this summer. In August, Venus , the superyacht designed by the late Apple founder Steve Jobs, was involved in a collision in Naples with the 105-metre yacht Lady Moura , owned by Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego. Later that month, the Bayesian tragically sank off Italy , leading to the loss of six people and leading to a large-scale investigation that is still ongoing.
And. in July, a blaze broke out in a shipbuilding hall at Lürssen’s shipyard , burning for around 20 hours and causing the firm to halt shipyard operations temporarily.

On a bright sunny day, the 295-foot Lürssen superyacht Ice slammed into an anchored motoryacht in Turkey’s Bodrum Bay. Commissioned by a Russian oligarch, the $125 million mammoth, due to a locked rudder, collided with a pleasure vessel just a third of its size.

Just four days after backing out of buying the abandoned Alfa Nero superyacht for $67.5 million, billionaire Eric Schmidt acquired the astounding 312-foot Lurssen-built Kismet superyacht, receiving an unheard discount of $60 million off its original price.
This $175 million superyacht belonging to one of Mexico’s richest families rushed to the rescue of migrants and saved around 100 of them who had fallen off of a fishing boat in the Mediterranean. The 305 feet long vessel sheltered and safely bought the migrants to the Greek coast.

This is the shocking moment a £95 million superyacht crashed into a smaller boat with at least six people on board.
Footage shows the 232 ft boat named Ice gliding through the water as it heads towards another boat off the coast of Yalıkavak, Turkey on Saturday.
Passengers on the smaller boat can be heard screaming as the superyacht sails towards them.
The vessel’s bow then crashed into the stern of a 101ft motor yacht carrying at least half a dozen people.
It is unclear why the collision occurred, but has been reported that at least half a dozen people were on the smaller boat at the time.
The boat suffered major damage at the stern but no onboard was injured.
The superyacht is part of the Lürssen shipbuilding company and can hold 14 guests and 27 crew members.
Features include a large helipad, beauty salon and bathtubs carved out of solid limestone.
There is also a state-of-the-art gym, jacuzzi and countless lounge and relaxation areas, both in- and outdoors.
The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.
In June two boats were involved in a devastating crash and a sailor was thrown overboard during a yacht race.
A man was flung from a boat as competitors battled rough seas during the Round the Island Race in the Isle of Wight today.
He then desperately clung onto his life jacket before being rescued.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) rushed to his aid to pull him from the water despite the extreme conditions.

Das dürfte teuer werden – Zwei Superyachten crashen vor Bodrum
Am letzten Freitag, 30. August, kam es vor der Küste von Yalıkavak auf der türkischen Halbinsel Bodrum zu einem Unfall, der ziemlich ins Geld gehen dürfte: Die 90 Meter lange «Ice» – die 115. grösste Superyacht der Welt – rammte das 31 Meter lange Luxusboot «A.Mey». Augenzeugen hielten den Vorfall auf Video fest:
Es ist zu sehen, wie die gut dreimal grössere «Ice» scheinbar in Zeitlupe auf die «A.Mey» zusteuert. Obwohl genug Platz zum Ausweichen wäre, rammt die grössere Yacht die kleinere am Heck. Die «A.Mey» wird vom Aufprall herumgedreht, etwas mitgerissen und schrammt an der Backbord-Breitseite (links des Bugs) der «Ice» entlang. An beiden Luxusbooten entstanden grosse Schäden.
Keine Verletzten
Medienberichten zufolge sollen sich rund ein Dutzend Personen an Bord der gerammten «A.Mey» befunden haben, verletzt geworden sei beim Vorfall jedoch niemand. Fotos zeigen, dass die Yacht mittlerweile zur Reparatur in ein Trockendock gebracht wurde.
Die Onlineplattform «Superyacht Times» schreibt , Quellen zufolge seien die Schäden immens. So sei das Oberdeck «komplett abgerissen» ist und das Boot «ernsthaft beschädigt».
Vorfall wird untersucht
Wie es zu dem Unfall kommen konnte, ist weiterhin unklar. Laut «Superyacht Times» soll auf Videos zu erkennen sein, dass die ausfahrbaren Plattformen am Heck der «Ice» offen gewesen seien. Dies könnte darauf hindeuten, dass die Superyacht ein technisches Problem oder Defekt hatte. (lzo)

Once you confirm your reservation, your broker will process your payment.
- If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
- If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
- If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.
Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.
