Eco Galaxy II Galápagos Cruise

Seldom has sustainability delivered such style and comfort, a galápagos cruise on board the eco galaxy ii.

ecogalaxy8

  • Environmentally sensitive luxury;
  • First class experience;
  • Generous communal areas;
  • Finest locally sourced produce a speciality.

Responsible luxury Eco Galaxy II is one of the latest generation of super-stable, purpose-built luxury cruise catamarans. However, what sets her apart from many in her class is her absolute commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. Launched in 2015, Eco Galaxy II was designed from the ground-up to set new standards in ecotourism. Boasting the lowest fuel consumption of any equivalent boat cruising the Islands today, Eco Galaxy II’s sustainability goes far beyond fuel efficiency as she also contributes directly to local schools, foundations and projects.

First Class accommodation Strictly limited to 16 passengers on board, her 8 staterooms are nothing short of magnificent. Crisp white walls and high-gloss ceiling finishes are tastefully softened by fabrics and furnishings in neutral shades, inspired by the habitats you will see through the magnificent panoramic windows. Beautiful furniture and wildlife-inspired artworks are brought to life by the light that spills into the spaces. All rooms feature 110V and 220V outlets for your convenience.

Charming en suite bathrooms feature powerful hot water showers, and are stocked with luxury biodegradable shampoos, body washes and soaps. All faucets on board are of water-saving design. Hair dryers are provided for your convenience.

Stunning ambiance Communal spaces throughout the boat are just as stunning as the staterooms. Outside, the ample sundeck offers elegant sofas in the shade, or modern recliners for worshipping the sun. Inside, effortlessly stylish modern finishes reflect light everywhere, whilst sumptuous fabrics and furnishings soften the crisp lines with pastel shades reflecting colors of land, sea and sky. The overall effect is one of cool, calm, luxurious comfort.

Amenities include a wonderfully stocked bar, TV and DVD system, guest library, and more of those wonderful panoramic windows. The dining room next door is no less delightful, and with only 16 guests dinners take on a welcoming and relaxed “family” feel - a chance to share wonderful food and remarkable experiences with new friends.

High cuisine with high ethics A particular feature of Eco Galaxy II’s sustainable ethos is her kitchen’s insistence on only using the finest locally sourced ingredients, ensuring a direct support for the Island population. This wonderful produce is turned into a mouthwatering array of Ecuadorian and international fine dining experiences, with the freshest seafood and organic fruits and vegetables a speciality

Finally, the owners and crew of Eco Galaxy II don’t stop their environmental efforts where you can’t see them - this is a truly ecologically sound operation. The boat reuses almost all of its water: once it has been treated it’s used to wash the decks and hull. All light fittings are energy saving LED throughout. All housekeeping products are biodegradable, and there are no toxic refrigerants used on board. Finally, every 3 months all crew and staff receive refresher training on customer service, conservation of the islands and habitats and awareness of the risks of exotic species invasion.

Our Comments Eco Galaxy II is the proof that luxury tourism can be sustainable and ecologically sound. We love the fact that the eco-credentials of Eco Galaxy II are much more than skin deep - and whilst enjoying the fact that we are supporting these endeavours we can’t help but be wowed by the stunning interiors of Eco Galaxy II. Of course style is a matter of personal taste, but we think this might be the most stunning decor in the whole Galápagos…

Food & Drinks on board the Eco Galaxy II

The food on our Galapágos Cruises is among the very best you will find in South America. Most of the on-board chefs are internationally trained and have prior experience working in the best hotels and restaurants in Ecuador and indeed around the world.

You can expect a first-class selection of food, including a good variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, locally sourced poultry and fish/seafood, rice and pasta dishes. Most boats will always include some typical Ecuadorian dishes on the menu during your cruise. If you have specific dietary requirements then these can usually be accommodated by the chef providing you have given advance notice. Please make sure you tell us about any allergies or dietary requirements you have at the time you book with us. If you leave it until you arrive at the dockside, then it may well be impossible to accommodate your needs.

Most boats serve a range of options at meal times in a relaxed buffet-style. At the first class and luxury end of the market, some boats have more formal dining where you will be served at your seat. However the atmosphere is always relaxed on board our cruises, and never stuffy or formal.

This trip exceeded all expectations. The boat, crew, and destination were all spectacular. Each day the meals were exceptional, the attention was individualized, and the activities were varied and planned perfectly. We snorkeled with sea lions, sharks, turtles, and beautiful fish. Each day we also had opportunities on land to explore the wildlife unique to each island. We sailed at night and had a different experience everyday.

We had a fabulous time and the catamaran exceeded our expections Our family of 16, ages 10-77, has just returned from a week aboard the Galaxy II. We had a fabulous time and the catamaran exceeded our expections. All of us were sad when the visit was over. The entire crew worked very hard to care for us, their guests. The food was abundant and delicious. Our rooms were refreshed and clean. Our naturalist guide, Carlos Palma, was superb. He was relaxed, fun, kept us moving without rushing us and took every opportunity to make sure we saw the animals and geography of the western islands. Any person or group would be fortunate to have him as a guide. There were many special moments on the cruise. Two whales, a sperm and a fin. A visit from Neptune, compliments of the crew when we crossed the equator. Delicious juices and treats after each snorkel or land visit. A game of charades with some of the crew participating. Swimming with turtles, penguins, rays. Having the frigate birds catch the draft of Galaxy II. Watching pelicans and boobies dive for dinner. Beautiful beaches and stark lava fields. And, when not watching all of this there were wonderful moments to read or watch spectacular sunsets. The crew of the Galaxy II was excellent. I wish I could name and compliment them each. They deserve it. We would love to return, aboard the Galaxy II with the same crew and the same naturalist to tour the rest of the islands in the future. May it be ! Galaxy II cruise was an incredible experience Galaxy II (also, called Eco Galaxy) is a new boat and we were on it for 7 days in February. This is a review of the boat and some helpful tips. I won't review the islands and wildlife as it has been covered well in other reviews (magical and wondrous sums it up). We did the western islands (itinerary D). We booked through Galapagos Natural Life and price included airfare from Quito or Guayaquil. Very happy with the agency. We spent two night in Guayaquil before flying to Baltra. Not one of our favorite cities. Tip #1- get to the airport early. It took us1-3/4 hours to go through the three lines, Transit Control, Agriculture Inspection, and airline check-in. These three lines are all side by side. First is Transit Control. We were told we could save time by registering on-line ahead of time and we did this and printed out bar codes to present, but they just threw these away and typed in the info. Not sure if the computers were down. Maybe it sometimes works. We were in line for this for 45 minutes. When we reached the front of the line two guys asked if they could jump ahead of us as their flight was boarding. We agreed and then saw them in the cafe an hour later. (Not sure what the moral is here. Don't be nice? Ask to see boarding pass?). Anyway, this is where you pay the $10 fee. Then you get in the Agricultural line and have bags x-rayed. Although we didn't figure it put until it was too late, one person can get in the agriculture line while the other takes the passports and money and goes through Transit Control. This speeds things up. After Agriculture you can check in for the flight. We flew from Guayaquil, but the plane originated in Quito and everyone from our boat was on the same flight. We were met at the airport by our guide, Raphael. Tip #2- From the airport you have a 10-minute bus ride, short ferry ride, 45-minute bus ride, and panga rode before you get to the boat. While in the airport, run to the bathroom and grab a bottle of water. The boat is beautiful. There are 4 cabins on the main level and 4 on the upper level. Main floor cabin advantages might be less motion, not having to walk up stairs when it is rocky. Disadvantages may be more noise when anchor goes up and down and the kitchen staff below deck starts banging things early. Our cabin was huge. King bed, more dresser and closet space than you can possibly use, 20-foot wall of windows, big bathroom. There was plenty of hot water and a big shower. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, and hair dryer provided. The bed is very comfortable. Good reading lights. All cabin lights can be controlled by switches near the bed. AC works great and is on a remote. Big mirror in the cabin. Cabins were cleaned 2-3 times daily. We were very comfortable in the cabin, so my negatives are pretty minor. I wish there were more places to hang wet towels, bathing suits, swim t-shirts, etc. There is one hook in the bathroom and one small towel bar. The closet doors have cut-outs of leaves and everyone was using these to stuff things in to dry and using hangers in the cut-outs. This will eventually damage the doors, but there were no other options. The drawers are poorly designed with no knobs or lips and hard to open. There are no rims on the bureau and night stand and during a particularly rocky night all of our stuff from the top was thrown to the floor and rolled under the bed. There is a large living room/dining room area with two tables that seat 8, two couches, and a bar with 4 bar stools. There is a large-screen tv which I think could be for watching DVDs but no one tried it. There is a cabinet with board games and we did play cribbage and backgammon. A shelf with some good books, mostly about the Galapagos. Tip #3- There was not a lot of drinking done as no one stayed up very late, but the bar was used. Check the price list. We did not. Beer is $3.50. Wine and drinks are $10. We did drink wine and should have been buying it by the bottle and not the glass but did not know that was an option. Our mistake as the drink menu was on the bar and we never looked. They ran out of beer on Wednesday (which was a little odd as no one had been drinking much). Several people complained to the guide. He called the captain and they sent a panga to get beer from a nearby boat. The front of the first floor is a meeting room with two TVs that were used nightly for our discussion of the next day trips, what to wear/bring, etc. Some of the crew played video, games and watched movies here in the afternoon. Tip #4- if you go out the door in the meeting room to the front of the boat on the main floor there is a stairway to the bridge. This is a great place to sit on the steps, watch the scenery, and get a little alone time. The top deck has a lounge area with astroturf-like grass, lounge chairs and benches with tables. There is a canopy over the center if you want to avoid the sun. Great place to go after dinner to see the stars and to watch birds diving during the day. Bars on the back of chairs are good for drying clothes and we just put things on the 'grass' and they dried quickly. If I were going to be nit-picky, i would have to say that this area is somewhat poorly designed. The lounge chairs are not adjustable and work for lounging but are not comfortable for napping or reading. The bench seats are not particularly comfortable and the tables don't have rims so you need to make sure your drinks don't slide off. One of the first days when we were all in the dining room at lunch the cushions from the top deck blew off and had to be pulled from the water. If one of the crew had not happened to see that, we would have had very uncomfortable benches for the rest of the week. There is coffee, tea,and water available 24/7. We were given Galaxy II water bottles on board, but they were leaky. One of our passengers liked iced coffee and taught Eduardo, the bartender, how she liked it and he delivered it to her daily. Tip #5- Use the Galaxy water bottle for water in the bathroom for brushing teeth and bring your own water bottle. I had one with a loop on the cap that clipped to my pants so I could have my hands free for camera/balance on the islands. The food is good. Breakfast and lunch are buffet, dinner is served. There are always plenty of options. Heavy on the fruits and vegetables. Breakfast always has some type of egg and another option (pancakes, etc.), bacon or sausage, cheeses, cereal, yogurt, toast. Lunch is their biggest meal of the day, also with two main dishes and plenty of sides. Lunch and dinner always include soup and dessert. After the first night we were given a menu at lunch to choose our evening meal with three options, always a chicken, beef or fish plus a vegetarian option. The beef was never very good. Fish and chicken were always good. On Friday they served Ecuadoran specialties and the chef showed us how he made ceviche with fish, squid, and shrimp and that was our first course. The first two meals are unlimited buffet, dinner is served. A teenaged boy and some of the men on board felt like dinner wasn't big enough (especially the night everyone got one chicken leg), but it was fine for us. The crew were great. Helpful, friendly, attentive. Could not have been better. Our guide, Raphael, was good. He told us the guides are mostly freelancers and skip around a lot. The snorkeling was at least once a day and often twice a day, both off the beach and off the back of the boat. The gear did not look new and some people had problems with masks leaking, but I think by the end everyone got fitted correctly. We brought our own masks and snorkels. They had wetsuits to rent, but no one used them. Our first two snorkel spots the water was quite cool bit all the other stops it was fine. (On the other hand, those of us snorkeling were from the Northeast US and Switzerland, so maybe we are more tolerant of cold water.... ). The snorkeling is great- we snorkeled with sea lions, turtles, and penguins. Bring a lot of sunscreen. One of our fellow passengers was very burned in Quito before he arrived. I found my lips very dry and tingly and had SPF lip balm and applied often. A decent pair of sneakers is fine for the walks and dry landings. There is a lot of walking on lava on the Western Islands. There are walking sticks on board to borrow but no one did. They were all one size and quite tall. A couple of people had folding walking sticks which were great for two of the walks. The important thing is to just watch your footing and stop when you want to look around. Don't walk and gaze at the same time. We had 1-2 activities on the morning, back on boat 11:30-2:30 while we sailed to a new location (and avoided mid-day sun) and 1-2 activities after lunch. It was a great schedule as we were busy but also had time to rest. Tip #6- There are two shower hoses on the back of the boat. If you swim/snorkel in the morning and are going again in the afternoon just use the outdoor shower to get the salt off and save the real shower for night. After the first day you realize the whole trip is a bad hair day and don't care. You really don't need to bring many clothes. I saved one 'clean' sundress and wore it every night after I showered. I try to avoid sun and had a pair of trekker pants from LLBean with multiple pockets and clip for water bottle and wore these daily with a quick-dry t-shirt and an SPF lightweight long sleeved shirt. Cotton T-shirts never really get dry. I wore a Lands End SPF swim T-shirt over my bathing suit and liked that. You need something on your feet on the ship as the decks and 'grass' on top deck get really hot. They provide those hotel slippers but no one really wore them. Flip flops or light sandals are great. Hats are a must. Wide brim. Mine had a flap in the back to cover my neck (yeah, with the long pants, long-sleeved shirt, and hat with flap I looked crazy bit came home with no sunburn after a week on the equator!) Tip #7- If you are going to buy a hat for the trip, Galaxy sells them on board (navy or beige, with or without flap), so you could get it on board and have a souvenir hat. The people aboard our ship were a varied bunch, 4 from England, 3 from Switzerland, a family with two teens from New York, 1 from Massachusetts, and us (Maine). A very well- traveled group with very interesting stories of past adventures. We all got along very well and we will stay in touch with some of them. I saved the negative for last. There are some safety issues with the boat. It has only been operating for 3 trips and hopefully some of these were left unfinished and will be completed soon. We have not been on other similar trips, so it could be that the safety standards are not as strict as we might expect in the US. One couple aboard was quite vocal about the issues and I am sure the owners will be aware of the problems soon. There is no hand rail to the second deck. The stairway is steep, curving, and often wet. After complaints the crew did hang a rope to grab onto, but it was difficult to go up and down. Also, if you happened to fall down the steps at night you could roll right off the boat as there was no gate or webbing on the two stairways down to the platforms on the back of the boat. There is no ladder off the back platforms (or even a ladder that can be lowered), so after swimming or snorkeling off the back of the boat it is very difficult to get back up to the deck. All in all, we loved this boat and had an amazing vacation. Very highly recommended. We have been back a few days now and it just seems like a dream.

Had a wonderful time This review came super late but better late than never! My husband and I went on the 8-day itinerary in June 2015 and had a wonderful time. At the time it was still the cruise's initial operation but we thought everything ran smoothly. Itinerary - I loved the itinerary and was able to see all the things I had on my wish list! One thing I didn't realize till I got there was that that the itinerary were all heavily regulated and if the weather sucked on one day and landing is cancelled, there would be no easy substitution. With that said, we were able to do everything as planned except for one snorkel because of water condition, which didn't bother me at all. Equipment - My husband and I brought our own mask, snorkel and fins (which we always do as we are divers). You use this so extensively during the trip that I'd recommend everyone to get their own. Our group's equipment looked like they were in decent shape, You get your own numbered mesh bag from day 1 and are supposed to store your gear in there to avoid mixing up with others. Food - I had worries about the food before, but I was totally over thinking. Food was excellent. Breakfast and lunch are buffets and dinner is served. Lunch and dinner always come with dessert. I can't recall any repetition in food served (if you count bacon and eggs in breakfast then yes). What I love the most was the fresh iced juices and snacks ready on the deck whenever we got back from excursions (usually afternoon)! A nice treat after walking/snorkeling under the sun. I loved hanging out on the deck reading and bird watching. I was lucky enough to spot a rare find - Mola Mola while enjoying the view from the deck! I only found out it was a mola mola because a crew member yelled that when I was puzzled at what that shark/fish looking thing swimming by our boat was. All the staff including our naturalist Freddy were fantastic. Not a single thing I can complain about. Always smiling and happy to help. Feedback from: https://goo.gl/JCj57u

Superb comfort: As you'd expect from a modern ship, Tiburon Explorer is a world away from older, often converted vessels that offer cramped accommodation with portholes and bunks. Here you'll enjoy beautiful staterooms with twin beds that convert to a single queen size bed, climate control, and en suite bathrooms. Wonderful picture windows let the light and stunning views come flooding in, while chic and modern decor with recessed accent lighting gives your room a real boutique hotel feel. If you'd like even more space, why not book one of three suites on board? Featuring a private lounge area and extra space, these offer you a level of comfort you simply can't find on other Galápagos diving liveaboards. Designed for diving: Tiburon Explorer features a state-of-the-art dive deck with everything you need to make the start and finish of your dives hassle free. With only 16 passengers on board at any one time there's plenty of space to get ready. A recessed stairway leads to the waterline for easy zodiac embarkation. The large camera table with charging points, separate rinsing stations for gear and cameras, personal storage lockers and a dedicated bathroom are all testament to the thought that went into her design. But as well as being a superb Galápagos diving platform, M/V Tiburon Explorer is also a luxurious home from home. Her saloon features comfortable sofas and side tables in a sociable layout. Dining is equally sociable, with a large table accommodating all guests and your dive guides. This bonds everyone over the day's dive adventures as well as making it easy to quiz your expert guides about everything you have seen. When it comes to relaxing between dives there aren't many places better than the Tiburon Explorer's sun deck. This amazing space has loungers for sun-worshippers, shaded sofas for cooler relaxing, a fantastic alfresco bar, and even a whirlpool jacuzzi. This is the perfect place to watch the equatorial stars appear as the sun sets over the horizon. Our comments: This is a fabulous luxury dive vessel. Calling it a liveaboard doesn't really do it justice compared to others. If you are after a Galápagos diving experience that marries remarkable dive sites with luxurious accommodation then this is the vessel to book. Her dive guides are among the most experienced in Galápagos, and you will dive at the iconic Wolf and Darwin sites. This package really has it all!.

Galapagos Sky Diving Cruise

- 3 Days at Wolf and Darwin Islands - Purpose-built dive boat with luxury feel - 2 dive masters, 4 dives a day - Complementary wine/beer with meals The Galápagos Sky is a 100ft, purpose-built luxury dive boat. Her current owner helped to design her to his exact requirements and she was launched in 2001. Traditionally in Galápagos, those looking for luxury didn't go on a dive boat, and those looking for great diving had to avoid the luxury boats. Galápagos Sky has rewritten that rule by providing those who are looking for the ultimate diving experience with stunning accommodation and fine dining. Built for Divers Galápagos Sky prides herself on taking you to the best dive sites the Galápagos has to offer. Her crew includes two dive guides who are expertly trained and certified by the Galápagos National Park. Her dive platform is exceptionally well equipped, with freshwater showers and warm towels available after each dive, as well as a warming drink and tasty post-dive snacks! Rinse tanks for cameras and gear are available, and you can also rent cameras and other dive gear if you wish. Your tariff includes air or nitrox filled tanks, weights, weight belt and up to 4 dives per day (including at least one night dive). Built for luxury Accommodation is based on 8 private twin/double cabins. Each is fitted with beautiful wood finishes and features plenty of storage for your gear - important on dive expeditions! En suite bathrooms feature luxurious biodegradable cosmetics and sumptuous bathrobes. Each cabin features individual air conditioning for your complete comfort. Galápagos Sky's public areas are no less impressive. A wonderful salon area decorated with stunning teak deck and dark wood fittings features a comfortable communal sofa lounge and plenty of natural light. The main salon features comfortable seating for relaxing and for dining, and the sundeck is the perfect place to soak up some equatorial rays or to see the stars in the stunning Galápagos night sky. It features loungers and hammocks and both shaded and open areas, all with stunning views of the islands around you. There is a delightful bar that is well-stocked with a range of local and premium wines, beers and spirits, and Galápagos Sky is one of the only boats in the fleet that offers you complimentary alcoholic beverages with your meals - choose form wine or beer with the captain's compliments! Food on board is a particular highlight, especially when compared to some other dive boats. The Galápagos Sky's chef prides himself on providing you with a stunning range of local Ecuadorian and international dishes, all served in fine dining style plated at your table. Guests consistently tell us that the quality and variety of the food on Galápagos Sky is among the best they've had on any boat in this class. Despite this high quality, the ambiance on board is distinctly relaxed and casual. Galápagos Sky is a very friendly boat, and the evenings are filled with laughter and animated conversation as guests relive the many wonderful sights they will have seen during the day's dives. Our comments We think that Galápagos Sky is the perfect "dive of a lifetime" option. She manages to mix absolutely stunning diving and expert guidance with luxury accommodation and food that you'd expect from a first class tourist cruise boat. Because she was designed by her current owner to do these jobs and do them well, she delivers unrivaled levels of guest satisfaction. If you want to dive at least 4 times every day and see the highlights of what's in season, then spend the evening sharing your experiences in luxury you need to contact us now and book Galápagos Sky!

San Cristobal Island: Airport – Board Catamaran – Lobos Island

AM: In the morning you will fly from either Quito or Guayaquil (on the Ecuadorian mainland) to the Galapagos Islands. At the airport on San Cristobal Island, after you will pay your entrance fee to the national park, a member of the ship's crew will welcome you and accompany you to your vessel: The Eco-Galaxy Catamaran.

PM: In the afternoon, we will visit Lobos Island, located across from San Cristobal Island. This is a seasonal nesting spot for Blue-footed boobies and Frigate birds. You also can enjoy swimming and snorkeling with sea lions in the island’s calm bay.

Santa Fe Island // South Plazas Island

AM: Today we will visit Santa Fe Island, a tiny rocky island covered in small Palo Santo trees and six-meter-high opuntia cactuses. The island is inhabited mainly by large yellow land iguanas, Galapagos buzzards, Blue-footed boobies, and pelicans. While snorkeling in the wonderful blue-green bay in which the ship anchors, you can observe the many inhabitants of this underwater world, including countless tropical fish, rays, sea turtles and playful sea lions.

PM: Today we will explore South Plaza Island, located just east of Santa Cruz Island. After a dry landing on the northern part of this life-filled islet, you will encounter colonies of sea lions and land iguanas. While on the steep banks, you can see numbers of birds – like nesting Tropicbirds and Fork-tailed seagulls – but most of all, you will enjoy the beautiful views from either atop the steep banks or while strolling along the base of the cliff. Opuntia cactuses grow on this island and the vegetation changes color throughout the year.

North Seymour Island // Mosquera Island

AM: After a dry landing on North Seymour Island, we will take a short walk along its coast, where you will encounter Swallow-tailed gulls, sea lions, and Cliff crabs. This part of Seymour Island is also known for being a major nesting site for Blue-footed boobies and one of the largest colonies of Magnificent frigate birds (a species different from the Great frigate bird) As you enjoy this relaxing hike around various nesting sites, you can also spot both of the endemic species of iguanas: marine iguanas and land iguanas.

PM: Today we will anchor off Mosquera Island, which is located near Itabaca Channel and in between the Baltra and Seymour islands. The island consists of a long narrow stretch of white sand, rocks, and small lagoons with large populations of sea lions (in fact, this is one of the best places to take photos of these aquatic mammals). After a wet landing, a stroll down the beach will also permit views of Brown pelicans and Blue-footed boobies.

Genovesa Island: Darwin Bay – El Barranco

AM: Our destination for today is Genovesa Island, considered to be one of the wildest and most pristine islands in Galapagos National Park. Known as “Bird Island,” Genovesa is one of the few places in the islands where you can see Red-footed boobies. After a wet landing in Genovesa Island’s Darwin Bay, we will walk along a short path that leads through the nesting sites of booby and frigate bird colonies. On the beach, you can observe the interesting spectacle of how frigate birds try to rob the prey of different species of boobies. You will snorkel here.

PM: This afternoon we are off to the El Barranco cliffs. Located on Genovesa Island, along the southern part of Darwin Bay, a one-mile (1.5 km) trail stretches out over volcanic rock that leads to this cliff (this hike takes about two hours to cover). The second half of the trail is very delicate, so please stay on the path. It can get very hot so make sure to bring water. Because of the natural erosion, this is the ideal place for the nesting of Storm petrels. Two other species of petrels that can be seen here are the Galapagos petrel and the wooden petrel. Red-footed boobies and Nazca boobies can be seen here as well as fur seals and several species of seabirds.

Santa Cruz Island: Highlands // Baltra Island: Airport

AM: Either if you do this visit starting from Baltra or from Puerto Ayora, a bus will take you to the highlands stopping along the way at one of the reserves to visit the lush highland forests where you will look for Galapagos Giant tortoises in their natural environment. This is the best place in the Galapagos to see these gentle giants (reaching over 300 kg / 600 pounds!) casually grazing and resting in freshwater ponds. This is also home for a great diversity of birds rarely found at the lowlands, including finches (tree, woodpecker and vegetarian finches), flycatchers and several species of water birds. You will visit a lava tunnel (depend on the itinerary) and learn how these extraordinary formations where created by ancient volcanic eruptions. Concluding this amazing experience in the Galapagos Islands, you will be transferred to the Baltra Island airport for your return flight to the Ecuadorian mainland. Enjoy your last look back at the “enchanted islands,” a unique paradise with inspiring natural wonders.

Baltra Island: Airport // Santa Cruz Island: Charles Darwin Station

AM: In the morning, you will fly from Quito or Guayaquil (on the Ecuadorian mainland) to Baltra Island, in the heart of the Galapagos archipelago and the main point of entrance to this natural paradise. Upon your arrival at the airport, you will need to pay the national park entry fee, which goes to protecting both the Galapagos National Park and Marine Reserve. A member of the ship's crew will welcome you and accompany you to your vessel.

PM: This afternoon we will head for one of the most visited spots in the islands. Located on Santa Cruz Island, the Charles Darwin Research Station is primarily an international scientific research station situated on the outskirts of Puerto Ayora. You will be taken to its visitor center to learn about the geology, climate, natural history and the conservation of the Galapagos Islands. However, the highlight of your visit here will undoubtedly be the research facility’s Fausto Llerena Tortoise Breeding Center, which breeds giant tortoises. These enormous and slow-moving reptiles can live up to 150 years and weigh between 250 and 300 kg. Approaching them in their humid and forested spaces is always an inspiring adventure. For decades, the Fausto Center was home to “Lonesome George,” who finally died in 2012 as the last of his particular species. The tortoises you will see here are accustomed to humans, so it’s an excellent spot for visitors to take photographs with them. Remember that looking at the animals is allowed, but touching is not, and it’s absolutely forbidden to jump over the walls or open the pen doors at any time.

Isabela Island: Tintoreras – Moreno Point

AM: In the morning we will take a short boat trip across the harbor of Isabela Island. After passing sea lions and pelicans that bathe in the sun on the fishing boats there, we will reach the small island of Tintoreras, where we will take an easy walk through the bizarre lava landscape with its huge colonies of marine iguanas. A colony of sea lions is also located here, and it’s common to see Whitetip reef sharks resting in the water near the shore. These sharks are called “tintoreras” in Spanish, giving the island its name. Later this same morning, we will hike through the wetlands of the island to a breeding station for giant tortoises. On the way, we will pass brackish water lagoons where flamingos can sometimes be seen. At the breeding station, you can get up “close and personal” to some of the giant tortoise species from Isabela Island.

PM: After lunch, we will explore Moreno Point, a young volcanic landscape with numerous fresh-water pools and lagoons. You will be able to see flamingos, Bahama ducks and other birds.

Isabela Island: Elizabeth Bay – Urbina Bay

AM: Today we will head to the mangrove area of Elizabeth Bay and visit the small islands offshore. You are likely to see dwarf penguins as well as schools of manta rays, turtles and other giants of the ocean – possibly even surfacing whale sharks. The mangrove woods are also home to various species of seabirds and herons.

PM: After lunch, we will make a wet landing in Urbina Bay. Coral reefs are visible here as a result of an especially violent eruption of the Alcedo Volcano in 1954, when large sections of Isabela Island’s coast were suddenly raised about four meters. These reefs are now covered with poison apple and muyuyo trees. You can also observe land iguanas and the rare Mangrove finch up close here. From January to June, land turtles occasionally visit the bay, descending from their higher mountain living environments. After a short walk inland, we will have some time for snorkeling, giving you yet another chance to swim with sea turtles, sea lions, and countless tropical fish.

Fernandina Island: Espinoza Point / Isabela Island: Vicente Roca Point

AM: Fernandina Island is not only the westernmost island, but also the youngest and most pristine island in the Galapagos. Huge fields of lava were created here by the La Cumbre Volcano’s 2005 eruption, which was followed on April 11, 2009 when the volcano flared up again, forming a cloud of ash and steam as hot lava flowed down the slopes of the volcano into the ocean. Nonetheless, an abundance of wildlife call this island home, including the famous Flightless cormorants, penguins, pelicans, marine iguanas and sea lions. You can also find mangroves on Fernandina Island, in addition to a great diversity of wildlife – such as orcas and whale sharks. This morning we will make a dry landing on Espinoza Point, one of Fernandina Island’s visitor points. It is filled with fascinating scenery, such as cactuses growing on the surface of lava. One gets a sense of how life fought to begin when seeing these plants emerging from crevices in this barren landscape. Within this unique scenery, you will encounter numerous animals – the highlights being sea lions, Galapagos penguins, Flightless cormorants, and one of the largest iguana colonies in the Galapagos Islands. In fact, on this small strip of land that constitutes Espinoza Point, you can find literally thousands of marine iguanas, which gather in large groups.

PM: Located at the “mouth” of the head of the seahorse that forms the northern part of Isabela Island is Punta Vicente Roca, an interesting rock formation. Here, the remnants of an ancient volcano form two turquoise coves, with a bay that’s well-protected from the ocean swells. With a bit of luck, you can see Galapagos penguins, while Masked- and Blue-footed boobies, as well as pelicans, sit perched along the point and its sheer cliffs, while flightless cormorants inhabit the shoreline. The upwelling of currents of cool water in this part of the Galapagos gives rise to an abundance of marine life, which makes Punta Vicente Roca a great area for deep-water snorkeling.

Santiago Island: Puerto Egas Beach // Rabida Island

AM: In the morning we will land on the fourth largest island in the Galapagos: Santiago Island, also known as “James Island” or “San Salvador Island.” The old rusted machines and run-down buildings of former salt mine workers are still apparent on the island, though the last attempts to populate Santiago Island were given up on forty years ago. We will make a wet landing onto Puerto Egas’s beach of black volcanic sand, visited by Darwin in 1835 and still maintaining an abundance of marine iguanas. After a short walk of about 2 km along the coast, we will reach the rugged lava coastline of James Bay. The unique, truly striking layered terrain of Santiago’s shores is home to a variety of resident and migrant birds, including the bizarre Yellow-crowned night heron and an astounding array of marine wildlife – including lobsters, starfish and marine iguanas grazing on algae beds alongside Sally Lightfoot Crabs. Colonies of endemic fur seals swimming in cool water pools formed by volcanic rocks are another highlight.

PM: In the afternoon we will take a trip to the dark-rust-colored beach of the small, volcanic Rabida Island. A short path leads to a small lagoon that is popular among flamingos. This beach is one of the most beautiful snorkeling places in the Galapagos Islands and it has a great abundance of tropical fish and sea lions. Rábida Island is also the only site where Batfish live.

Santa Cruz Island: Black Turtle Cove – Bachas Beach

AM: This morning, we will visit Santa Cruz Island’s Black Turtle Cove, a nesting site for sea turtles, which peak their heads above the surface of the water while fish and other forms of marine life circle below. With luck, the calm water will allow you to see different types of sharks (like the Whitetip reef shark) and schools of golden-colored Mustard rays. There are a number of mangrove forests here as well. Concluding this amazing experience in the Galapagos Islands, you will be transferred to the Baltra Island airport for your return flight to the Ecuadorian mainland. Enjoy your last look back at the “enchanted islands,” a unique paradise with inspiring natural wonders.

Baltra Island: Airport – Board Catamaran // Santa Cruz: Bachas Beach

AM: In the morning you will fly from either Quito or Guayaquil (on the Ecuadorian mainland) to the Galapagos Islands. At the airport on Baltra Island, after you will pay your entrance fee to the national park, a member of the ship's crew will welcome you and accompany you to your vessel: The Eco-Galaxy Catamaran.

PM: We will arrive on the northern coast of Santa Cruz Island, where we will visit the long and sandy Las Bachas Beach, one of the most important nesting beaches for sea turtles. Here you can also find flamingos, Black-winged stilts, sea lions, herons, marine iguanas, and — with a little bit of luck — tiny Galapagos penguins. In addition, this beach is one of the main nesting sites of sea turtles in the Galapagos. A female can lay eggs 3 or 4 times with an average of 70 eggs each, but they then spend 3 to 5 years without breeding. At this paradisiacal site, we will also find the remains of barges that sank long ago; these were once the property of the United States Navy when they operated an airbase on Baltra Island during World War II. In fact, the beach got its name because the English word “barges” was hard to pronounce for the local people – hence “Bachas” Beach. You will also have the opportunity to swim on this soft white sand beach or explore the fascinating underwater by snorkeling.

Santiago Island: Sullivan Bay // Bartolome Island

AM: In the morning we will land on the fourth largest island in the Galapagos: Santiago Island. The old rusted machines and run-down buildings of former salt mine workers are still apparent on the island, though the last attempts to populate Santiago Island were given up on forty years ago. On Santiago Island, we will head to Sullivan Bay, located on the eastern coast of Santiago Island. Its lava field, covered with lava cactuses, has a variety of interesting patterns of important geologic interest, as you will be able to observe the contrasting lava landscapes from an older eruption and a newer one formed during the last quarter of the 19th century. After exploring these lava flows, you can swim or snorkel with playful sea lions.

PM: Upon arriving on Bartolome Island, you will discover a fascinating moonscape formed by various volcanic formations — including lava bombs, spatter, cinder cones — as we hike to the island’s summit for striking views of the surrounding islands, Sullivan Bay and the towering Pinnacle Rock. As the beaches at the foot of the Pinnacle Rock boast some of the finest snorkeling in the islands, you can discover a marvelous underwater world here and have a good chance of finding sea turtles gliding gently alongside you. On the rocks beneath Pinnacle Rock, it’s quite possible to spot some of the quick-as-an-arrow Galapagos penguins; at around 25 centimeters tall, these are members of the second smallest species of penguin in the world. Likewise, you’re likely to see harmless Whitetip reef sharks sunning in these waters. For many visitors, this may turn out to be the best of snorkeling experiences, as the water here is generally clear, without too much surf and full of marine life.

Santa Cruz Island: Highlands // Charles Darwin Research Station

AM: This morning we will visit the Highlands of Santa Cruz Island, where the lush landscape is a welcome contrast to the arid scenery of the smaller, lower islands. On the way, we will cross through different vegetation zones – from the dry lower region full of cactuses to the scalesia woods in the Highlands. There one can find two small agricultural communities that grow the famous organic Galapagos coffee. Later, while in the Santa Cruz Highlands, we will visit the twin “Los Gemelos” craters, which will be explained by your naturalist guide. These craters are surrounded by scalesia forest, where also live Ruby tyrants and small and large Tree finches.

PM: After lunch we will head for one of the most visited spots in the islands. These enormous and slow-moving reptiles can live up to 150- 200 years and weigh between 250 and 300 kg. Remember that looking at the animals is allowed, but touching is not; and it’s absolutely forbidden to jump over the walls or open the pen doors at any time.

Floreana Island: Cormorant Point/Devil’s Crown // Post Office Bay

AM: Today we will visit Floreana Island, considered to be one of the most exotic in the Galapagos archipelago. Countless legends are part of the history of this island, as pirates and buccaneers were drawn to here in search of for food and water. Later the island was colonized by Norwegians, Brits, Germans and others who were in search of ways to make money from what they hoped to discover here. The name Floreana is in honor of Juan Jose Flores, Ecuador’s first president. This morning’s excursion is to the Cormorant Point visitor site. After a wet landing on the beach, we will go down a 100-meter-long path to a mangrove lagoon that is home to Galapagos ducks, black herons, oystercatchers and plovers. With a little bit of luck, you might also see flamingos. Another path leads to a small beach that is an important nesting site for sea turtles. In the shallow water there, one can often find stingrays and Whitetip reef sharks. Later, you will be able to take advantage of the great snorkeling opportunities at “Devil’s Crown” (Corona del Diablo), a broken volcanic cone that is one of the most beautiful places for snorkeling in the Galapagos Islands. The underwater world here includes reef sharks, starfish, sea turtles, sea lions and a host of tropical fish species.

PM: Later we will visit Post Office Bay, where the legendary post barrel that whalers historically used to put their mail in is still kept. After a wet landing, you can walk just off the beach to leave a letter here in hopes that it will make to its destination via another tourist. So, don’t forget to bring postcards along. Snorkelers can take a dip on the main beach among the playful sea lions and green sea turtles.

Española Island: Suarez Point //Gardner Bay

AM: Española Island is the southernmost, oldest and one of the most bio-diverse islands of the Galapagos archipelago. Its English name is “Hood Island,” in honor of the British admiral Samuel Hood. Because of its isolated position, there is much endemic wildlife to be explored here – in addition to great snorkeling from Española’s remarkably beautiful beaches. After breakfast, we will go on an excursion to Suárez Point. One of the archipelago’s most outstanding wildlife areas, this site boasts a long list of species along its cliffs and its sand and pebble beaches. In addition to five species of nesting seabirds, the curious and bold Española Island mockingbirds are found here, as are other birding favorites that include Galapagos doves, Galapagos hawks, Swallow-tailed gulls and the world’s largest colony of Waved albatross – an unequivocal highlight during mating season (May-December). Several types of reptiles are unique to this island, including the marine iguana and the oversized lava lizard. In fact, this is also the only site where you will be able to see “red” sea iguanas. In addition, when heavy swells are running, Suárez Point is the site of a spectacular blowhole whose thundering spray shoots 30 yards up into the air. The trek here is on a stony path about a mile long, though the duration of this excursion is about 3 hours.

PM: Located on Española Island’s eastern shore, Gardner Bay is noted for its turquoise-colored waters and its magnificent beach, which we will visit in the afternoon. Around the bay’s small nearby islets, snorkelers will find an abundance of fish, as well as the occasional sea turtle and benign sharks. The bay is also frequented by a transient colony of Galapagos sea lions who love to swim with people. Birds, like the endemic Española mockingbird and different species of Darwin finches, are omnipresent.

San Cristobal Island: Interpretation Center - Airport

AM: In the morning -- at the port of Baquerizo Moreno, the capital of Ecuador’s Galapagos Province -- we will visit San Cristobal Island’s Interpretation Center, an excellent place to learn about the natural and settlement history of the archipelago. Here you will discover displays that provide information about the volcanic origins of the islands, the ocean’s currents, the archipelago’s climate, and facts concerning the arrival of different species. The islands’ human history is also showcased, chronologically narrating the most significant events related to the discovery and settlements of the Galapagos.

Day 1: Baltra Island – Santa Cruz Island: Bachas Beach

  • Arrive at Baltra airport
  • Reception at the airport.
  • Transfer IN.
  • Welcome on board EcoGalaxy Cruise.
  • Welcome drink and lunch.

Bachas Beach:  This beautiful beach is located in the north of Santa Cruz Island; the beach is one km long.

The site was named during WWII (World War II) when the American army left two barges on the beach.  The early colonists couldn’t pronounce barges correctly, so they called the area “Bachas”.

Day 2: Santiago Island & Bartolome Islands

Sullivan Bay:  wet landing and hiking. Description of the place: all the roads and the island are composed of lava flows that have not eroded and cover an extensive area, lava pahoehoe or of cords, hornitos, Mollugo, this plant grows in the lava. Lava Colonizers. Snacks and refreshing beverages expect for you. Lunch

Bartolome Island:  Dry landing, wet landing for the beach. Activities on this island include walking, swimming, snorkeling, and photography.  We will follow a path to the top (114m) where we can see pioneering plants such as tiquilia, chamaesyce, and scalesia.  The island has been formed by cones, lava pipes where lava once flowed. Following the wet landing at the beach, we will follow a path through mangrove swamps and sand dune vegetation, to the south beach. At the north beach, guests can enjoy swimming and snorkeling.  From the top of Bartolome, we will be able to see the islands of Santiago, Rabida, and Isabela.  We will see penguins in the Rock Pinnacle.  Dinner

Day 3: Santa Cruz Island: Highlands & Charles Darwin Station

Highlands of Santa Cruz:  Our first visit is Highlands of Santa Cruz, where we have a trekking and we will find the giant tortoises in their natural habitat, this is a natural spectacular. For this visit, we recommend using sport shoes, long pants, raincoats, a hat, and sunblock. Lunch.

Charles Darwin Station:  is located in the main port on Santa Cruz Island; we will take a private bus to the entrance of the breeding center where we will see tortoises and land iguanas in captivity. This center is the main breeding site on the islands. Animals that were in danger of extinction on the various islands are maintained in captivity.  Thanks to the dedicated work of several institutions, some species are being saved. Here lived Lonesome George, the famous last survivor of the giant tortoise species found on Pinta Island. Dinner.

Day 4: Floreana Island

Punta Cormorant:  wet landing, snorkeling, and short trekking. This point is located west of Floreana Island and it is famous for its dark green beach (due to the great number of olivine crystals). You can see many marine invertebrates, as well as sea lions, sea iguanas, the frigates, and pelicans.

Second visit: Devil’s Crown:  Activities in this place: panga ride and optional swimming. Enjoy a panga ride around a small island, a satellite islet of Floreana Island. Here, we will find a group of rocks that resemble a Crown due to the constant erosion caused by the sea. It is one of the better places to snorkel (shallow diving) in the interior and around the crown. Excellent visibility allows guests to admire a great variety of fish and sea animals. Lunch.

Post Office (Mail Bay):  Wet landing. Activities: short walk, swimming, snorkeling, explanation of the mail system. Description:  Mail Bay is located on the north side of Floreana Island. Captain James Colnett installed an empty barrel to be used as a post office for the whaling fleets that stopped at the Galapagos Islands. You can leave postcards to your friends and relatives here and/or pick up mail to deliver. Back at the ship, Delicious snacks and beverages are waiting for you.

Day 5: Española Island

Suarez Point:  Dry landing.  Activities:  Walking, sight-seeing. We recommend sports shoes, a hat or cap, and sunscreen. There is no color more amazing and outstanding in this tropical desert island than that of the blue-foot boobies. These birds have an impressive form of “greeting” and it is a real thrill to see their mating dance. The blue-footed booby can be seen on several of the islands as nesting grounds and feed is located in several coastal locations.

The albatross, an aristocratic bird weighing up to four kilograms, can be observed here. One of the largest birds of the islands, approximately 12,000 couples nest on Espanola Island, and a smaller number nest on Silver Island, near mainland Ecuador. This species is considered endemic to this island; during our walk, we will observe these fantastic birds while taking in the beautiful landscapes offered by this island.  It is important to note that albatrosses will not be seen between January and March (non-breeding) season.

We will also see colonies of marine iguanas, zayapas, masked boobies, finches, Espanola cucuves, and seagulls unique to the islands. Our walk will be on lava rock where we will be able to see lava tubes. Red mangroves are found here. Delicious snacks and fresh beverages are waiting for you on the ship. Lunch.

Gardner Bay:  wet landing, activities for this visit: short walk, swimming, snorkeling, and observation of seal colony. The sea lion is one of the animals in Galapagos which gets the total attention of the visitors in the Galapagos: they are curious and playful, but at times aggressive; they are nice and loving, but also lazy. In Gardner Bay, we are going to find many of them relaxing on the beach enjoying the sun. In addition to observing these fascinating animals, while snorkeling, we will be able to swim with sea lions, sea turtles, a diversity of tropical fish, marine iguanas, etc. We will return to the ship and sail to Gardner and Osborn Islets. Dinner.

Day 6: San Cristobal Island: Interpretation Center – Transfer out

Interpretation Center:  Dry landing. This center is a location in the main port. After breakfast, our first visit is to the Interpretation Center of San Cristobal. This modern and sophisticated architectural space was designed for the natural interpretation of the Galapagos. You will learn about the volcanic formation of the islands, the evolution of the species, the history of human settlement, and complex systems and management models. Transfer out.

** This itinerary is subject to change without notice; due to seasonal changes, weather conditions or Galapagos National Park regulations. **

Onboard this comfortable and new catamaran, we will present you with a wonderful and unforgettable lifetime! Itinerary is subject to change

Day 1: San Cristobal Island: Lobos Island

  • San Cristobal airport.
  • Transfer In.
  • Welcome onboard Galaxy II Cruise.

Lobos Island:  Panga Riding, swimming and snorkeling. Here, we can walk, swim and snorkel among the seals, frigates, marine iguanas, lava lizards, and the small endemic Galapagos snake. Here, we can swim and snorkel in the same place. Dinner.

Day 2: Santa Fe Island & South Plazas Island

Sante Fe:  Wet landing, activities for this day: hiking, swimming, and snorkeling. With 24 km2 and 60 m of height above sea level, this central island is a unique place to visit.  It has an incredible bay of turquoise water, protected by a natural barrier of rocks. You will see colonies of seals as hawks fly overhead. This island is home to one of the two species of land iguanas found in the Galapagos. Their main food source is the leaves and fruit of the large, thick cactus found here.

Crabs, nocturnal herons, marine iguanas, cucuves and land doves are seen frequently. The Bay is an excellent place to swim and to do snorkel. Marine tortoises, rays, sea lions and tropical fish are an amazing attraction! Snacks and refreshing beverages are waiting for you on board. Lunch.

South Plazas:  are two small islands, created by an uplifting of the land. The land iguanas are smaller here; they nest during the warm season. The hike goes along an extraordinary cliff where sea birds nest. There are approximately 1000 sea lions (Zalophus Wollebaeki) located on the south side of the Plazas.

Day 3: North Seymour Island – Mosquera Islet

North Seymour:  dry landing. Seymour was formed by the lifting of volcanic marine lava. Marine fossils dating back to the Pleistocene period were found on this island.

In 1932, Captain Alan Hancock and his crew took 72 malnourished land iguanas from Baltra Island to North Seymour Island so that the iguanas could live in better conditions. In 1934, colonists verified that the iguanas were in good condition.

The vegetation of North Seymour is bushy and is host to nesting Real Frigates of the Galapagos. Return to EcoGalaxy. Lunch.

Mosquera Islet:  This islet is located between Baltra Island and North Seymour. Here, we find the biggest sea lion colony; it is also possible to observe several species of birds.

Day 4: Genovesa Island: Darwin Bay & Barranco

Darwin Bay:  wet landing, coral beach, activities for this day: short walks, photography, swimming, snorkeling. Genovesa is a small island in the north of the Galapagos. Our unloading in Darwin Bay will be wet. Near the beach is a mangrove swamp where we will find a colony of frigates, marine iguanas, red-footed boobies and mask boobies, the great terrestrial finch, seagulls, herons, and cactus finch. Following the land visit, our passengers can enjoy a swim in the bay. Snacks and refreshments are available. Lunch.

Barranco:  dry landing, activities: hiking. Also known as Prince Felipe’s stairs.  Here, we will have a walk for the Barranco path. In our journey, we will observe tropical birds, petrels, common frigate, red-foot boobies, mask boobies, dove, and finches. Dinner.

Day 5: Santa Cruz: Highlands

Where we have a trekking and we will find the giant tortoises in their natural habitat, this is a natural spectacular. For this visit, we recommend using sport shoes, long pants, raincoats, hut, and sunblock.

Gardner Bay & Suarez Point

AM:  Breakfast early in the morning. Our first visit starts with a wet landing at Gardner Bay. Activities during this visit: short walk, swimming, snorkeling, and observation of seal colony. The sea lion is one of the animals that receive a lot of attention from visitors in the Galapagos: they are curious and playful, but at times aggressive; they are nice and loving, but also lazy. Galaxy’s 5-Day Itinerary Day Two - Blue-Footed Booby Sighting.

Post Office Bay, Cormorant Point & Devil's Crown

AM:  Breakfast early in the morning. Our first visit will be a wet landing at Post Office Bay. Activities: short walk, swimming, snorkeling, explanation of the mail system. Mail Bay is located on the north side of Floreana Island. Captain James Colnett installed an empty barrel to be used as a post office for the whaling fleets that stopped at the Galapagos Islands. You can leave postcards to your friends and relatives here and/or pick up mail to deliver. Back at the ship, delicious snacks and beverages await.

PM:  Wet landing, snorkeling, and short trek at Cormorant Point. This point is located on western Floreana Island, and it is famous for its dark green beach (due to a large number of olivine crystals). You can see many marine invertebrates here, as well as sea lions, sea iguanas, frigate birds, and pelicans.

Activities at Devil's Crown include a panga ride and optional swimming. Enjoy a panga ride around a small island, a satellite islet of Floreana Island. Here, we will find a group of rocks that resemble a crown due to the constant erosion caused by the sea. It is one of the better places to snorkel (shallow diving) in and around the crown. Excellent visibility allows guests to admire a great variety of fish and sea animals. Dinner.

Galaxy’s 5-Day Itinerary Day Three - Panga Ride.

Santa Fe & South Plaza Islands

AM:  Wet landing at Santa Fe this morning, as we enjoy hiking, swimming, and snorkeling. At 60m above sea level, this central island is a unique place to visit. It has an incredible bay with turquoise water, protected by a natural barrier of rocks. You will see colonies of seals, while hawks fly overhead. This island is home to one of two species of land iguanas found in the Galapagos. Their main food source is the leaves and fruit of the large, thick cacti found here. Marine tortoises, rays, sea lions, and tropical fish are an amazing attraction! Snacks and refreshing beverages are waiting for you aboard the ship. Lunch. Navigate to South Plazas Island.

PM:  South Plaza is made up of two small islands created by the uplifting of the land. The land iguanas are smaller here; nesting during the warm season. The hike runs along an extraordinary cliff where seabirds nest. There are approximately 1,000 sea lions located on the south side of Plazas Island. Dinner.

Galaxy’s 5-Day Itinerary Day Four - Swimming with Sea Lions.

Disembarkation

AM:  Breakfast is very early in the morning. Luggage and belongings should be ready for checkout, our last visit, the Charles Darwin Research Station. The Charles Darwin Station is located in the main port on Santa Cruz Island; we will take a private bus to the entrance of the breeding center where we will see tortoises and land iguanas in captivity. This center is the main breeding site on the islands. Animals that were in danger of extinction on various islands are maintained here in captivity. Thanks to the dedicated work of several institutions, some species are being saved. This is where Lonesome George lived, the famous last survivor of the species of giant tortoise found on Pinta Island.

After your morning excursion, you will be transferred to Baltra Airport for your departure flight.

Galaxy’s 5-Day Itinerary Day Five - Disembarkation.
