Inside the Incredible Superyacht REV

The eco-conscious research yacht will offer guests a different kind of charter experience.

A few years ago, the thought of a floating eco-metropolis powered by hybrid energy, filled with the best scientific minds and equipment that could journey to the most secluded corners of Earth would have been dismissed as science fiction. Now it could be just around the corner. Meet the incredible yacht , REV Ocean.

Measuring 600 ft in length, she has one mission: to make the ocean healthy again.  Funded by Norwegian billionaire businessman and philanthropist Kjell Inge Røkke, who has vowed to give away half of his fortune to environmental causes, REV Ocean is set to be the world’s largest superyacht taking the title from its current holder, the 590.6- ft Azzam.  

The super-sized ship shares its name with the not-for-profit foundation that Røkke established together with marine biologist and former WWF Norway CEO Nina Jensen. The vessel itself forms a major part of the organization’s strategy to spearhead the next generation of ocean solutions and raise awareness of the global impacts of pollution, climate change and overfishing. 

REV Ocean will be kitted out with the latest sampling, observation, mapping and communication equipment for carrying out research that encompasses the whole marine ecosystem, from the icy abyss of the polar regions to the equatorial waters of the Indian Ocean.

Built by Norwegian shipyard VARD and designed by renowned naval Architect Espen Øino, REV Ocean will be powered by ultra-quiet hybrid propulsion and will have a max speed of 17.8 knots . She will also feature a lithium-ion battery pack that can be used to power the propulsion motors for silent running, limiting underwater acoustic pollution during biomass sampling on research missions.

Determined to limit her environmental footprint, the multidisciplinary team behind her design and build has installed an endless list of eco-focused gadgets that include a ‘Green Pilot’ to monitor emissions as well as a water treatment system to prevent species cross-contamination across ocean zones. However, the most innovative of all has to be REV Ocean’s incinerator which gobbles up plastics in an environmentally positive way without producing noxious gases. This means the vessel does not have to off-load plastic waste to shoreside facilities in locations with little ability to dispose of plastics.

After a delayed launch thanks to the global pandemic, REV Ocean is finally set to hit the water in 2026. She will be available to charter for one-third of the year, enabling guests to join scientific experts in an immersive, once-in-a-lifetime expedition. What’s more, any profit generated through the use of the vessel is reinvested into the charity’s vital ocean-saving work.

Although REV Ocean is a superyacht, a floating palace she is not. Those looking for the glamour and grandeur found on the likes of her superyacht predecessors Azzam or Eclipse might want to look elsewhere. REV Ocean is unashamedly a different type of vessel; one that confidently stands out from the crowd to offer an alternative adventure.

As a charter vessel, REV Ocean will be able to comfortably accommodate 28 guests in 18 cabins. Her interiors have been imagined by the London Studio H2 Design who are responsible for, amongst others, the contemporary designs onboard the famed explorer yacht Ulysees as well as the luxurious and modern style found within the new 262.5 ft superyacht Tatiana . 

Speaking to Yacht Charter Fleet in 2019, H2’s founder J onny Horsfield explained that designing the interiors for a vessel like REV Ocean required a fresh approach: “ It is now my challenge to deliver a new kind of interior that is fit for the demands of its purpose, one that is holistic in its requirement to connect to the environment around it, and establish a new way of thinking to a project that has no precedent,” he said.

Indeed Horsfield admitted that despite REV Ocean’s unparalleled size (she measures 17,440 GT), the vessel crams in so many technological advancements that a major challenge has been fitting everything in. However, judging by the incredible list of exciting marine research equipmen t   she is set t o house on board, it appears to be a challenge that H2 has risen to.

Although much of her interiors are yet to be revealed, it’s safe to say she may not be quite as opulent as some of her superyacht predecessors; but this feels very much like a choice made in keeping with the vessel’s purpose. “She has been designed towards a more industrial look but with a Scandinavian minimalist approach to the [details]. All the materials are simple, basic materials like concrete, wood, metal and stone,” said Horsfield.

REV Ocean may not exude the glamour of some of the world’s other largest superyachts but despite this, charter guests will still be able to enjoy many of the luxuries found onboard her more lavish counterparts.

She is set to offer guests the choice of three swimming pools, a jacuzzi, a gym and a spa. There will be multiple dining rooms and recreational spaces onboard ideal for relaxing or entertaining, as well as several observation platforms to spot marine life or take in the unforgettable polar sunrises.

Her adventure-loving guests will have the opportunity to leave the jacuzzi behind and immerse themselves in the groundbreaking marine research taking place on board. With over 43,000 sq ft of the vessel dedicated to scientific research facilities, including laboratories and a dive center, there will be plenty of scope to join scientists in their mission-critical work. 

As is to be expected, this futuristic mega-vessel also holds an incredible collection of tenders and submersibles . This includes a three-person Triton 7500/3 series submersible capable of diving to 7,500 ft which is lowered into the ocean’s depths via the ship’s 25-ft moon pool in the hull. Adventures via air are made possible by REV Ocean’s Airbus ACH145 helicopter which is served by two helipads. 

From remote polar regions to the tropics, REV Ocean is designed to cope with the planet’s most extreme conditions thanks to her ice-class hull. Possessing a range of 21,120 nautical miles,  she will be able to pretty much circumnavigate the globe without refueling meaning no location is off-limits. 

Originally planned for 2021, REV Ocean’s maiden voyage was set to be a scientific mission to the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, home to a diverse population of wildlife including seals, polar bears, whales and walruses. This has been put on hold as she awaits completion, with expect ed delivery in early 2025 and be fully operational from 2026. Other expeditions in the pipeline are rumored to include the Caribbean and the Galapagos.

REV OCEAN, a 194.9 m Motor Yacht currently being built in Norway and recently launched (soon to be delivered in 2025), is going to be the flagship of Vard .

Her top speed is 17.0 kn and she boasts a maximum range of 21120.0 nm when navigating at cruising speed, with power coming from a diesel electric engine. She can accommodate up to 36 guests in 18 staterooms, with 54 crew members. She has a gross tonnage of 16854.0 GT and a 22.0 m beam.

She was designed by Espen Oeino International , who has designed 69 other superyachts in the BOAT Pro database.

Her interior was designed by H2 Yacht Design , who has 51 other superyacht interiors designed in the BOAT Pro database - she is built with , a Steel hull, and Aluminium superstructure.

When delivered, REV OCEAN will join a fleet of 70 motor yachts longer than 100m. Compared to similarly sized motor yachts, her volume will be 9716.92 GT above the average.

Elin Signe Askvik has always been connected to the sea: Her first job
 was on a cargo carrier, then came Arctic exploration and finally a decade of salvaging wrecks in pirate-infested waters. A personal favorite: a 2013 expedition, financed by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, to recover Apollo 11’s F-1 rocket engine, which had been jettisoned into the sea 44 years earlier. Skippering REV Ocean , the world’s largest yacht, will be a sea change. But Askvik will be using familiar technology to scan and map the oceans down to 20,000 feet, in a bid to save them.

Norway is known for its explorers. Did you grow up around boats?

I grew up by a fjord named Osterfjorden north of Bergen Norway’s west coast. My Dad owned a small bulk carrier that he made a living from, and my brother and I spent all the time we could onboard during our youth. Dad taught us the value of working and not just dreaming. A good balance.

Did you attend a marine academy in Norway?

I went to maritime school on the west coast of Norway, focusing the first year on fisheries. Then I transferred to the standard merchant maritime school. I chose the second school because it was a year shorter than the alternative. That meant I could go to sea sooner.

At 600 feet , Rev Ocean  is considered the world’s largest superyacht , but much of the interior will consist of labs, underwater exploration equipment and conference rooms for scientists who undertake research missions.  Oceanco

Can you talk a little bit about your experience at Swire Seabed AS and your ultra-deepwater marine work?

In Swire Seabed, we made history by not only exploring, but also working at ultra-deepwater, down to 20,000 feet. Swire started as a one-person company with a passion for shipwrecks and salvaging of cargo. Over the years, we gained a reputation for deep-water work. In the latter years, years we had a close cooperation with Ocean Infinity, which specializes in both unmanned surface vehicles and autonomous underwater vehicle operations.

You specialized in remote underwater vehicles. Was that for oil or natural gas exploration or salvaging?

It was all kinds of work, including commercial oil, gas and mineral industry. We even recovered the Apollo 11 F-1 engine. Still, as we developed a certain track record in both searching for lost vessels and more so salvaging cargo, we did quite a few of these kinds of projects. That’s where I found my passion for sub-sea exploration in general, and archaeology/wrecks in particular.

There’s some controversy about some of these recoveries on historic wrecks, correct?

History is a treasure in itself, and what is at the bottom of the sea should be documented first of all, but also recovered before it deteriorates. It’s great diving in to sub-sea museums at thousands of feet, but not everybody can do that. Respecting history can also be about making it available to the world before it’s gone. We also took part in searches where not only the vessel was missing, but also its crew. That may sound distressing, but I found it rewarding. We potentially helped find answers for people who had lost loved ones at sea. That was the greatest honor of the job.

The vessel will be capable of spending long periods at sea without refueling and can store enough food to feed 90 people for 114 days. Rev Ocean also has some of the most advanced water-waste and recycling systems of any superyacht.  Rev Ocean

All that is very different from being captain of the world’s largest superyacht.

The earlier years made me aware of the changing state of the oceans and why I’m at REV Ocean . I saw the bottom of the Mediterranean last year, some 6,500 feet below the surface. There was not a fish in sight, but an enormous amount of garbage. The coast of Africa, the middle of the Indian Ocean, everywhere it’s the same. The results of the stress we put on the ocean is downright scary. We still don’t understand the ultimate consequences.

I’m assuming your duties will include underwater exploration?

My background fits for doing sub-sea exploration in undiscovered areas, and gain knowledge about what we don’t know. To gain understanding that can be shared with the world. We can ultimately contribute to the solutions to challenges of the blue environment and humanity face. Grand words, but we need to be grand to get the attention the ocean needs.

The hull and decks were completed earlier this year and now the interior will take two years to complete. It will be delivered to its owner in 2022.  GUILLAUME PLISSON

What kinds of vehicles will you have?

We will have a range of sensors on the mothership, basically to do a health check on the oceans. We will also have an advanced system for research trawling and coring equipment for samples. An ROV to inspect, and take samples. The autonomous underwater vehicle to survey larger areas. We will also have a manned submarine to see the magic of the undersea world–for research and joy. It’s a mesmerizing place.

What do you like most about the job?

The fact that I get to take part in something that matters for the future, something that can make a difference for the ocean, for the environment, and thereby for human beings – not just for the economy or one company. That excites me. It’s like owner Kjell Inge Røkke has said: He wants to give back to the ocean that he has made a living from. I can identify with that philosophy.

What are you most hopeful about?

By asking the questions, we are on our way to finding answers. Answers that will increase the global understanding for the ocean’s state and our impact on it. I honestly believe that understanding is what will start the real change that’s needed. Locally and globally.

Are there any planned missions that you’re excited about? 

Before starting in REV Ocean, one of the things I found really interesting was that any researcher can get the chance to come onboard the vessel and use all our equipment for free for research they think is important. No  big money needed – just curiosity, enthusiasm, and a purpose. I look forward to meeting all those dedicated, compassionate researchers. And then sharing this with the world. Every mission will be a good one.

The construction of REV marks a leap in innovation of yacht building in a number of ways.

Apart from the yacht’s size, which will see her top the LOA of the world’s current largest superyacht Azzam by 2 metres, REV’s onboard systems are expected to be those of ‘one of the best equipped if not the best equipped scientific ships around’, as Espen told us. World's biggest yacht: 8 of the best features on board expedition superyacht REV Ocean

With a core focus on marine research and conservation, the 183m/600ft motor yacht REV will have the ability to collect and generate energy from ocean plastics. She will become the world's largest yacht upon completion, and will be available for private yacht charters in some of the most remote regions on earth.

Currently in the final stages of construction, research expedition vessel REV (or REVOcean) is pioneering the latest in technological innovation to create a new generation of superyacht.  

She will be equipped with some of the most impressive on-board features ever seen on a yacht, including the ability to collect and generate energy from 5 tonnes of ocean plastics per day.

She will be used primarily as a research platform for studying the world’s oceans and finding solutions to problems including climate change, overfishing and plastic pollution.

REV has a gross tonnage of 17,440 tonnes and a length of 182.9m, or 600ft.

Currently the longest ever superyacht is 180.65m (592ft) superyacht AZZAM , while the largest yacht in terms of gross tonnage is 156m (511ft) superyacht DILBAR, with a volume of 15,917 gross tonnes.

REV knocks both of them out of the water, and will become both the largest and longest yacht in the world when she is delivered.

She has been commissioned by ocean research company Rosselinis Four-10, which is owned by Norwegian billionaire Kjell Inge Roekke.

Income for crewed yacht charters will go towards funding the yacht's future research operations.

State-of-the-art research facilities

REV will play host to six laboratories with multi-functional usage which includes dry, wet and chilled facilities for a range of different research purposes. 

She will also have a huge 7.7m x 5m Moon pool in her hull. This wide opening will provide direct access to the water below, allowing underwater vehicles to be lowered and raised with increased ease and flexibility. 

In total, around 4,000 square metres (the equivalent of 15 tennis courts) of on-board space is dedicated to research, which makes up around 40% of REV’s interior.

Live species harvesting

REV will use highly sophisticated technology to safely collect and winch live species of fish from around 3,000 metres below the sea’s surface.

The winches can maintain position and depth whatever the weather and sea conditions, making them reliable under any circumstances.

A live visual feed helps to identify the species, and the system can be adjusted to target a particular size of fish and release those that don’t match. They are transported on board REV through a pipe, and can then be released unharmed after being studied or tagged. 

REV will also feature drop keels fitted with sensitive hydrophones which will listen out for marine mammals.

She also has a dive centre with a decompression chamber, air and nitrox systems.

Underwater discovery

The yacht's hangar will house an impressive range of vehicles and accessories. These include remotely-operated water vehicles capable of descending to depths of 6,000m (almost 4 miles) with the help of a cord connected to REV. 

REV will also have a fully autonomous underwater vehicles, which use sonar to scan the seafloor and pinpoint a predefined mark. These can be extremely helpful when finding shipwrecks or other irregularities on the seabed.

She will have a submarine and dedicated equipment to measure CTD (conductivity, temperature, and depth).

Two helipads

REV has two helipads for drones and helicopter surveys. One is located on the aft deck and the second is on the foredeck. 

They will make it even easier to access and disembark the yacht, particularly when it comes to stepping on shore in high-latitude regions.

Dual helipads and helicopters are also essential for exploring Polar regions, creating a back-up should there be any kind of mechanical failure, giving REV full global access.

Superyacht styling

The yacht's exterior style is the work of world-renowned designer Espen Oeino. Designed to balance the functionality of a research vessel with the elegance of a superyacht, her profile is streamlined and well-proportioned

H2 Design is responsible for the yacht's interiors. Jonny Horsfield, head designer, has said that he is embracing the unique challenges associated with a project like this, and hopes to create a holistic and calming interior. 

In total, the yacht provides accommodation for 28 guests in 18 cabins with a complete crew of 54.

Auditorium and media editing suite

REV will boast an enormous auditorium with tiered seating to host up to 36 people. Fitted with an advanced sound system, the space will be perfect for lectures and knowledge-sharing events.

The yacht will also have a conference centre with two meeting rooms and a hot-swap desk arrangement which is designed to facilitate social interactions between research teams and other charter guests.

Environmentally-friendly credentials

Environmental performance was a crucial component throughout the building of REV. She features the SeaQ Green Pilot, a fuel-optimising system that will allow the crew to reduce REV’s carbon footprint as much as possible.

She will also make use of a high-technology incinerator, which allows on-board waste and ocean plastics to be burnt in an environmentally-positive way with limited emissions.

 Every 10 kilograms of waste burned will generate 110kWh of thermal power, which is used to supply REV with hot water. She will also have a heat recovery system which will generate fresh water through an evaporation plant. 

Other key elements include an energy recovery rudder system, medium-speed engines, a direct drive diesel-electric propulsion system with batteries and an exhaust cleaning system.

Ocean-going capabilities

REV will be capable of complete autonomy at sea for up to 114 days, meaning she can be completely self-sufficient in terms of stock and fuel. 

VARD estimates that she will have a range of 21,120 nautical miles while cruising at 11 knots.

For any research-related charters, she can accommodate 30 crew and 60 research personnel.

This World’s Largest Superyacht Was Designed to Save the Oceans

Azzam ’s six-year reign as the world’s largest superyacht is coming to an end. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates 590-foot boat will soon be displaced at the top of that very exclusive list by a just-launched 600-foot expedition yacht from Norway.

The massive REV Ocean superyacht was launched the VARD Tulcea shipyard in Romania on Saturday, the company announced in a press release over the weekend. The yacht’s first taste of ocean water follows an extensive 18-month construction process. There’s still work to be done, though, as the boat won’t be fully complete in 2020.

REV Ocean is the brainchild of billionaire businessman Kjell Inge Røkke. He has called the yacht cornerstone of his goal of improving ocean health worldwide. The Espen Oeino-designed boat, which the Norwegian considers equal parts research vessel and charter yacht, will take scientists around the world, allowing them to gather vital information about the impact of carbon dioxide emissions, plastic pollution and unsustainable fishing, all of which Røkke hopes will aid aid efforts to preserve the sea.

“Today is an especially exciting day, our state-of-the-art research vessel has achieved a major milestone and we are now one step closer to realizing our vision of safeguarding the ocean,” CEO Nina Jensen said. “We look forward with great anticipation to REV Ocean ’s journey to Norway and seeing the next stage of progress towards our ambitions of developing ocean solutions.”

The boat will now travel from Romania to Norway, where the finishing touches will be applied over the coming months, according to Forbes . During this stage, the boat will be outfitted with all manner of scientific gear and equipment, including research labs, sonar systems, a moon pool, classrooms, an auditorium and a remote operated robot capable of diving to depths of up to 20,000 feet (or about 3.7 miles below the surface). Once complete, the boat will be able to carry 55 scientists, along with a crew of 35.

But the superyacht won’t just be for scientists. The boat’s website makes clear that REV Ocean will also be available for charter by groups or individuals “seeking to improve their awareness of the ocean.” During charters, the ship will be able to accommodate up to 28 guests, with room for 54 crew members. Pricing information isn’t yet available, but proceeds from charters will be used to help fund the boat’s research operations. Check out more photos of the ship’s launch below:

Cisco's second layoff of 2024 affects thousands of employees

Intel provided Wall Street with some good news after a slew of negative headlines in recent months.

Sanctioned Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich tried to offload his vast assets amid clampdowns on the country's oligarchs. Take a look at his luxury empire, including the 3rd-largest yacht in the world.

• Before being sanctioned, Abramovich scrambled to sell his assets, including his $3 billion soccer club Chelsea FC.

Roman Abramovich was once the richest known man in Russia. Bloomberg pegs his net worth at $13.5 billion, a $4.1 billion slump since the beginning of the year.

His net worth peaked in 2008 at $23.5 billion.

Ambramovich, 55, is known for his collection of superyachts, luxury cars, private planes, and homes around the world. The Wall Street Journal once nicknamed his global collection of extravagant possessions " The Roman Empire. "

The billionaire is the  largest shareholder of Evraz , one of the world's top producers of steel . He also owns stakes in the world's largest producer of refined nickel, according to Bloomberg.

Most of Abramovich's vast fortune comes from proceeds from selling Russian state-owned assets after the fall of the Soviet Union. He owned stakes in industries like airlines, oil, and aluminum .

In 2003, he sold a 26% stake of Russian airline company Aeroflot to the National Reserve Bank. In 2005, he sold his 70% stake in Russian oil company Sibneft for almost $10 billion. He also offloaded his aluminum assets for more than $2 billion.

Abramovich did not respond to Insider's request for comment for this story.

From 2003 to 2008, Abramovich was the governor of Chukotka, a remote Arctic province.

During his tenure, he spent $1.3 billion of his own money on the region.

Sibneft, the oil company of which he owned nearly 70%, was registered in the region until Abramovich sold his shares to the state-run energy company in 2015.

Abramovich has been married three times and has seven children.

His most recent marriage was to Dasha Zhukova, with whom he has two children . The couple cofounded the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow and the New Holland Island cultural center in Saint Petersburg. In 2017, the couple announced they would be separating after 10 years together.

Abramovich was previously married to Irina Malandina for 16 years. They have four daughters and one son. At the time of their 2007 split, he was worth $18.7 billion. Although Russian courts usually award a wife half of the wealth built up during a marriage, Malandina settled for $300 million  — 1.6% of Abramovich's fortune.

Little is known about Abramovich's first marriage to Olga Yurevna Lysova, except that it lasted for three years, from 1987 to 1990.

Now, with the West's sanctions on Russia's oligarchs, Abramovich has reportedly been scrambling to sell his assets.

In the aftermath of Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny's organization named Abramovich one of 35 Russian individuals who should be considered for sanctions, The Guardian reported.  

Abramovich bought London-based Chelsea FC in 2003 from long-time chairman Ken Bates for $233 million. Abramovich is "a keen follower of sport and international football," a statement said at the time.

In a statement in March, Abramovich announced that he would be selling the club. "This has never been about business nor money for me, but pure passion for the game and Club," Abramovich said.

He also said all the net proceeds from the sale would go to those affected by the war in Ukraine. Bloomberg reported that he is seeking a bid of 3 billion pounds ($4 billion).

Abramovich is understood to have turned down a £2.5 billion ($3.3 billion) offer in late February or early March, per SkyNews.

Abramovich was among seven Russian oligarchs who were sanctioned by the UK on March 10.

Despite the billionaire rushing to offload some of his assets — including Chelsea Football Club — the sanctions now bar him from making deals to sell the club, banning all transactions between Abramovich and UK citizens and businesses . 

Chelsea FC is the seventh-most valuable soccer club in the world, per Forbes.

It was worth about $3.2 billion in 2021, per Forbes . While the club has amassed millions of fans around the world, not all are happy with its stance on Ukraine.

Chelsea FC posted a controversial statement in February, where it failed to mention Russia or Abramovich's ownership.

"The situation in Ukraine is horrific and devastating. Chelsea FC's thoughts are with everyone in Ukraine. Everyone at the club is praying for peace," the club said in a statement on its website at the time.

However, Chelsea's financial future is now in doubt because of sanctions against Abramovich. Sanctions on him mean that the club's finances are frozen , and that Chelsea can now only spend around $26,000 per game on travel.

In 2018, Abramovich was granted Israeli citizenship and flew to Tel Aviv after facing delays in renewing his UK visa.

Upon moving to Tel Aviv, Abramovich became the richest man living in Israel. In 2020, local media reported that the billionaire had dropped $57 million on a seafront hotel in Tel Aviv.

In the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, several high-profile Israelis — including the chairman of the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum and a chief rabbi — urged the US not to impose sanctions on Abramovich, according to The Times of Israel.

The representatives wrote a letter to the US ambassador in February commending Abramovich's investments, philanthropy, and contributions to Israel, the outlet reported. 

The museum's chairman told the Washington Post that Abramovich was the museum's second-largest private donor.

Reports indicate Abramovich is also rushing to offload his London real estate holdings.

The billionaire has homes all over the world, including a $118.4 million home in Kensington Palace Gardens in London, an area nicknamed "Billionaires' Row," according to The Guardian .

"He's terrified of being sanctioned, which is why he's already going to sell his home tomorrow and sell another flat as well," Labour MP Chris Bryant told the UK Parliament in March, per Bloomberg .

Abramovich is also among the billionaires who own homes at Eaton Square — an exclusive garden estate in London that is nicknamed "Red Square" because of the number of Russian billionaires who own properties there. 

Abramovich has spent tens of millions of dollars on prime New York City real estate.

Abramovich paid $96 million for four townhouses on New York City's Upper East Side with plans to turn them into one megamansion. He also bought another property two blocks away.

In September 2018, Abramovich transferred four of the five properties, all in a row on East 75th Street, to his third ex-wife, Zhukova, for about $92 million as part of their divorce proceedings, the New York Post reported, citing city property records.

Abramovich reportedly owns a home in Antibes on the French Riviera.

Abramovich bought the Chateau de la Croe , a mansion that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, in 2001, per Bloomberg.

In 2018, A French court found that Abramovich had undervalued the holiday home and had not paid enough wealth tax in 2006 and 2007.

In 2009, Abramovich dropped $90 million on an estate on the Caribbean island of St. Bart's, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a person close to the deal.

The 70-acre estate is replete with Balinese bungalows with ocean views, tennis courts, swimming pools, and music pavilions, per the Journal's 2009 report .

Homes aren't the only things Abramovich likes to collect: The billionaire has reportedly spent hundreds of millions of dollars on yachts on his lifetime.

Abramovich bought the superyacht Pelorus in 2004. At the time, it was the 11th-largest yacht in the world, per Yacht Harbour .

But Abramovich's second ex-wife, Malandina, got the yacht in their divorce settlement .

Before sanctions were imposed on Abramovich on March 10, a 460-foot superyacht Solaris that was linked to Abramovich   departed a Barcelona shipyard after being docked there for repairs since 2021. The $600 million vessel left Spain on March 8, and was tracked moving eastward after leaving the shipyard.

Solaris was spotted on March 12 , anchored in Montenegro. 

Abramovich later spent nearly $500 million on a superyacht called Eclipse.

At 533 feet long, Eclipse was once the world's largest yacht, though it's since been overtaken by the 590-foot Azzam , which launched in 2013, and later too by REV Ocean , a sleek, 600-foot yacht that launched in 2019.

Among Eclipse's amenities are two helicopter pads, cabins to host 36 guests and space for 70 crew, a 52-foot swimming pool — and a missile detection system.

The yacht was in a Barcelona shipyard last year for renovations, The Guardian reported in February.

However, the superyacht this week appeared to be headed in the direction of the Solaris yacht . According to data from MarineTraffic , the two superyachts could eventually meet in the Ionian sea if the Eclipse were to keep its course sailing east across the Mediterranean Sea. 

Abramovich has reportedly owned at least three other yachts in his lifetime, including Le Grand Bleu .

His car collection is nothing to scoff at either.

Abramovich reportedly has dropped more than $11 million on luxury vehicles , including the above limited edition Ferrari FXX. Only 29 were made.

Abramovich also bought a Pagani Zonda Roadster, one of only 15 ever to be made, according to The Telegraph. He has also reportedly bought  a Bugatti Veyron, a Mercedes AMG GT3, and an Aston Martin Vulcan.

Abramovich has a number of airplanes in his personal fleet, including a Boeing 767-33AER.

The customized interior of the aircraft includes a banquet hall that seats 30 people, a kitchen, an office, and a bedroom.

Abramovich previously owned a Dassault Falcon 900, which his ex-wife  Irina Malandina got in their 2007 divorce settlement, per Boss Hunting.

Meanwhile, a $65 million Gulfstream private jet linked to Abramovich was seen flying from Israel to Istanbul on March 14. Abramovich himself was spotted at a VIP lounge in Israel  before the Gulfstream jet made its journey to Turkey. 

Abramovich's personal art collection comprises works by Pablo Picasso, Lucian Freud, and Francis Bacon.

In 2008, he spent $34 million on a piece entitled "Benefits Supervisor Sleeping" by Freud.

The very next night at Sotheby's, Abramovich paid $86.3 million for Francis Bacon's "Triptych, 1976," according to The Wall Street Journal .

But Abramovich's art collection could soon be under scrutiny. Several countries are looking to freeze Russian billionaires' foreign-owned assets, which could include some of the most valuable pieces in the world, reported The Art Newspaper.

Timmerman Yachts completed the building motor yacht OLSTEN in 2004. Accordingly, she has the distinction of being built country of Russia. OLSTEN is a yacht which had design completed by Moscow Shipyard and Moscow Shipyard. The 3406E engine installed in the motor yacht is produced by CATERPILLAR. Connected to her Caterpillar engine(s) are twin screw propellers. The engine of the yacht creates 600 horse power (or 442 kilowatts). She is fitted with 2 engines. The total thrust for the yacht is accordingly 1200 HP or 884 KW.
