The History of Admiral Yachting
Admiral officially began building yachts in 1962, however, the origins of the brand can be found in the 1950s when Cantieri Navali Lavagna started producing wooden motor yachts under the moniker “Arcobaleno Super.” The first Admiral yacht to make its debut in 1966 was an 18-meter wooden flybridge yacht, which was so popular that the shipyard began to build larger versions, including a 30-meter yacht based on the same design, which launched in the mid-1970s. The 34-meter MAU MAU also followed suit and was outfitted with four engines, which provided her with a top speed of 32 knots. Yachts in the 30-meter range were rare in the 1970s and Admiral continued to stand out as it launched five more 30-meter yachts, including SAHARET, IPSUM, ERAF, KADIA and SAUDADE.
In 1982, Admiral launched its first yacht using light alloy materials, which provided both high performance and exceptional safety at sea. Admiral is now renowned for its steel and aluminum yachts that provide high speeds, top performance and the epitome of on-water safety.
In 2011, Admiral became part of The Italian Sea Group in the Technomar portfolio, which provided the brand with the ability to expand its portfolio, broaden its reach and better serve clients around the world.

Let’s take a look back to the 1950s. This was a time when Admiral took a stab at building wooden yachts under the brand name, ‘Arcobaleno Super’, which later was known as ‘President’. 1966 an 18 meter wood yacht was born. Travel forward to the mid-1970s when a 30 meter wood yacht was launched by the ‘Cantieri Navali Lavagna’ launched the first 30 meter motor yacht made of wood which catapulted the brand to new heights as the industry was quite impressed with this feat!
At this same time, Admiral received much attention for it’s classic vessel “MAU MAU”, a 34 meters, four engine racer, making top speeds of 32 knots. “SAHARET”, “IPSUM”, “ERAF”, “KADIA”, “SAUDADE” and a few others all over 30 meters were produced giving Admiral the attention of all since nothing over 18 meters was even known at this point in time.
They prided themselves in their use of light alloy - come 1982 - when the shipyard announced the first light alloy ADMIRAL clocking in at 23.50 meters. From then on, they were known to be the premier builder of steel and aluminium yachts.
As we head into a new era - November of 2011, The Italian Sea Group acquired Admiral. Giovanni Costantino, then Chairman and CEO of Tecnomar didn’t miss a beat falling most comfortably into his awesome position as Chairman and CEO of The Italian Sea Group. His goal here was to increase the presence of the Group with Admiral’s world renowned and well-esteemed brand.
With 11 different series in steel and aluminum, Admiral’s pride and joys from 37 to 145 meters, are one of three types : planing, semi-displacement and displacement. There is nothing that the team at The Group, can’t make happen based on their client’s requests —customization at it’s best! The unique building site is a massive 100.000 square meters, with 11 production bays, a huge dry dock and a 2200 ton floating barge for super yachts up to 150m. Once inside, you’ll be sure to notice nothing is left out to ensure all of their customers and visitors get a taste of the Italian Culture and Lifestyle that embodies each special Admiral produced. They’ve even partnered with several International artists to display their finest works inside the Headquarters to keep the theme consistent throughout. It won’t be a surprise at this point in discovering the passion The Italian Sea Group has for pleasing it’s guests and customers, that there is even a
fabulous lounge bar and lovely Michelin Chef-run restaurant! Going over the top, seems to be their style.
To run through the YACHT MODELS, our first introduction is to the Admiral ARGO. With 42 - 52 & 63 meter options, this semi displacement, aluminum stunner was developed by The Italian Sea Group – Admiral. With an innovative design and the latest in technology, ARGO surpasses the standard with many exciting features, such as a large, exquisitely designed, aft deck pool complete with a fantastic beach club spot complete with spa —even showcasing it’s own roomy beach balcony. The sundeck offers it’s owners a gym, jacuzzi along with an awesome touch and go helipad. The design lends itself to emulate a Monaco Nightclub feel with it’s sophisticated chill vibe. Every eye on the dock at the most exclusive marinas you’ll be mooring at, will be on this piece-of-art on the water for sure.
As we continue on, we come across the Admiral ATOS. Models include a 38, 42 & 46 meter option. Built with a semi displacement hull in aluminium alloy.
Next is what they call the Admiral C FORCE. With a range of models such as the 50, 60, 65, 75 & 85 meter, this displacement hull is built in - as the Italians would call it - Acciaio & Alluminio.
The E MOTION, in either a 55 or 60 meter choice, is an aluminum displacement hull with a forward design-appeal. Like the glamour and glitz of the French and Italian Riviera, then you’ve found the right yacht to cruise the seas of these areas as sophisticated, chic is her middle name. They’ve certainly not left out comfort, with her panoramic spaces, and sleek exterior lines that can give you the feel of a female profile resting on the water. This highly refined marina exciter, will never leave, even the most avant garde, wanting anything more. E Motion is available in a 55 and 60 meter. Admiral Quinta Essentia was launched as an E Motion and has dazzled all.
Speaking of dazzling, the next model, ENVY has a 40 or 50 meter option in this aluminum, semi displacement hulled Admiral.
GALILEO, is a steel & aluminum displacement yacht with the following models: 62 - 65 - 70 - 80 & 105.
IMPERO comes in a 40 & 40 RPH; 45 & 45 RPH; 47 & 60. Available in a Displacement or Semi-Displacement hull, she’s built in either steel & aluminum or just aluminum.
MAXIMA is Admirals: 37, 47, 55 or 750GRT, & 55 or 880GRT & even a 60 meter model. With a displacement hull, she’s built with steel & aluminum.
MITO also offers a displacement hull and is constructed with their signature steel & aluminum hull with a 55 and a 76 meter.
Up next…and what an impressive fleet at that… is the Admiral MOMENTUM with: a 40, 45, 47, 60 and a 85 meter model, built in the semi displacement or displacement style in aluminum or steel & aluminum.
Admiral Yachts, offers another stunning yacht, designed for adventure, however, not leaving out any creature comforts or safety provisions. Named the MOMENTUM EXPLORER, with a 45 - 50 - 57 & 65 meter offering, this displacement steel ship has an impressive cruising range of 5000 NM, over the top storage below and on deck to properly house the extensive array of watertoys, tenders, subs and gear. Stopping at the VETTA 40, we find a displacement, aluminum alloy built innovator of the seas, she boasts a futuristic profile yet offers generous space and unrivaled design only found on larger yachts. Her aft deck is an impressive outdoor space for relaxing with your best friends and family and enjoying spectacular views while dining. From here, you’ll step atop to the upper deck where sunning will be the popular sport with breaks an option utilizing her large sundeck Jacuzzi situated perfectly for a movie nite as she’s equipped with the ability to set her up as your very own outdoor movie theater if so desired!
The interior is stunning with the finest in materials from around the world. Tall windows support a bright and light salon area that flood the room with sunshine. Fashion designers and superyachts make a pretty pairing. Roberto Cavalli’s snakeskin-covered Freedom and Diane von Furstenberg’s 305-foot rigged schooner are two examples of what happens when haute couture meets the high seas.

Armani’s first yacht was a 164-foot Codecasa called Mariù —named after his mother—and delivered in 2003. Overseeing the exterior design, Armani chose a charcoal-gray hull and gave the yacht matte, stainless-steel fittings to differentiate it from the flashy white boats dotted in the Mediterranean ports.
Five years later, he went bigger with a second Codecasa, the 213-foot Maìn —named after his mother’s childhood nickname—which was delivered in 2008. He painted the entire exterior a dark shade of green to camouflage his presence at sea. He also focused on the onboard experience by introducing more sunbathing and dining areas to make it “feel like a house.”
Armani also requested the windows run in a continuous line along the boat to give large panoramic views, almost as though the boat had no walls.
For his third yacht, due to deliver in September 2024, Armani has gone bigger still, but has kept the build in Italy at Admiral’s Marina di Carrara facilities . “Armani is synonymous with timeless elegance and sophistication,” said Giovanni Costantino, CEO and founder of The Italian Sea Group, in a statement. “Project Metamorphosis, which combines technology and excellence in design with the distinctive features of Armani, will give us great satisfaction.”
In keeping with his previous builds, Armani mandated a wealth of hidden details to give the yacht an understated beauty, including inconspicuous cap rails, hidden lighting and a lot of glass. The light-filled interior is defined by hand-crafted finishes, earthy-toned linens and loose furniture by Armani/Casa.
“Project Metamorphosis pairs lots of exterior space with amazing interior volume, but most noteworthy is the yacht’s proximity to the sea,” Michel Chryssicopoulos, global managing partner at IYC, which has project managed the entire build, told Robb Report . “The large platform aft can be used as a bathing area for relaxation, but also accommodates large groups for outdoor dining and starlit parties.” The sea-level beach club is where guests will enjoy waterside relaxation. On the main deck aft, there are multiple lounge areas, some covered and others open to the elements. Onboard amenities include a cinema and dedicated games area on the bridge deck, a jacuzzi and firepit on the sun deck and multiple outdoor dining areas. There is a gym, a spa with sauna, steam shower and treatment rooms, and discreet meeting rooms for when Armani is conducting business at sea.
The owner’s deck is a personal sanctuary where Armani can retreat for some quiet time. It enjoys an owner’s suite, dining area, bar and lounge. It leads directly to a counter-current swimming pool for fitness workouts, a sunbathing area and intimate nooks for morning coffee or sundowner cocktails. There are six guest suites on the main deck and accommodations for a crew of 20. “An owner’s deck of this size is rarely found on private superyachts and draws on Armani’s personal experience of owning a vessel,” says Costantino. “It allows for a private escape within a floating oasis—the epitome of the yachting lifestyle.”
Armani presented the interior of Project Metamorphosis alongside his 2023 spring/summer men’s and women’s fashion collections recently at Milan Fashion Week. “The sea and design are two of my greatest passions,” he said. “With this new collaboration, I have extended my idea of furnishing and decor to the nautical world, in which—just as in fashion—aesthetics and functionality come together in a natural and elegant style.”

Inside Admiral's In-Build 66 Metre Superyacht GC Force 66
New details and renderings have been released of Admiral’s 66 metre in-build yacht GC Force 66.
Started on-spec, the yacht is due for delivery in 2023 and offered for sale with Burgess and FGI Yacht Group .
Key features include a 10.6 metre beam, three metre draft and large 1200GT interior penned by Mark Berryman , who previously penned the interior of Admiral’s 65 metre superyacht Life Saga .
The GC Force 66 features a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with exterior design and naval architecture courtesy of Nuovi Cantieri Apuania .
A huge winter garden is described as a “standout feature” on board. Located on the main deck, the garden “flows” aft through folding doors to a large sunpad and bar. Sliding doors forward lead into the main saloon.
A touch and go helipad sits on the sun deck with steps leading down to a raised Jacuzzi. Sliding doors lead to a bar, oven, BBQ and DJ station.
On the lower deck, the beach club fitness centre opens on all three sides to maximise the connection to the sea. A swimming pool, sauna, steam room, mud room, “emotional shower” and scuba diving store also sit on the lower deck.
Accommodation is for a total of 12 guests in six cabins, including a full beam owner’s suite and VIP suite on the main deck. The remaining four guest cabins sit on the lower deck, alongside accommodation quarters for 16 crew.
Power will come from two Caterpillar 2012HP 3512C engines for a top speed of 15.5 knots and range of 6,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Prosecutors 'not ruling out' manslaughter over sinking of Bayesian yacht off coast of Sicily

At a conference this morning, Italian prosecutors said it was probable that offences had been committed before the sinking of the Bayesian superyacht, killing seven people, ITV News' Charlotte Cross reports
Italian prosecutors have said they can't rule out the possibility of manslaughter after a luxury yacht sank off the coast of Sicily, killing seven people.
In a press conference on Saturday morning, prosecutor Ambrogio Cartosio confirmed that a manslaughter investigation had been opened over the sinking of the Bayesian superyacht during a storm near Porticello at about 5am local time on Monday.
British tech mogul Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah were among six people recovered from the wreckage this week.
Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judy Bloomer, Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo were also recovered from the sunken vessel.
Those six victims were found after the body of Canadian-Antiguan national Recaldo Thomas, who was working as a chef on the yacht, was recovered at the scene on Monday.
In a press briefing, Mr Cartosio said: “The Termini Imerese prosecution has opened a case hypothesising the crime of shipwreck and of manslaughter but we are only at the initial stage of the inquiry so far.
“I have to emphasise that the development of the inquiry could actually be of any sort imaginable."
Reporters heard that the two offences being considered are manslaughter and culpable shipwreck.
Mr Cartosio said prosecutors are conducting an investigation against unknown persons. Asked if the crew will remain in Sicily, he said: “There’s no obligation but they should be available for the investigation.”
Describing the incident as a "very grave tragedy", he praised the "incredible courage and skill" of firefighters, firefighting divers who "carried out a very difficult mission".
The 56-metre Bayesian, which had a crew of 10 people and 12 passengers on board when the storm struck, had sunk to a depth of 50 metres, with divers struggling to navigate the ship's narrow corridors with objects lying in their way.
Girolamo Bentivoglio, the chief of the Palermo fire service said specialised divers attempting to retrieve the bodies had to deal with “very little visibility due to the weather conditions” and were called in from across the country as part of a search-and-rescue operation which involved “some 70 people” each day.

He added: “The yacht obviously pinned to the right and obviously the (people) tried to go on the other side and then took refuge in their cabins.
“We found four or five bodies in the cabin on the left and there was another one in the third cabin on the left too, and obviously they were in the higher part of the wreck."
Maritime director of western Sicily, Rear Admiral Raffaele Macauda said the weather at the time of the yacht’s sinking was “abnormal” and there was nothing to suggest such an “extreme situation” would arise.
He told reporters: “This was an abnormal meteorological condition. And as you can see from the internet there was forecasts from midnight to 4am, winds of a strength of five from the north-west and the west and a storm alert. But there wasn’t an alert of a tornado.”
He added: “Given that the conditions were such, there wasn’t anything to suggest there could be an extreme situation arising.
“There are vessels that can monitor, after all, these events and one would have thought that the captain had taken precautions.”
Asked how it was possible for most of the crew members to survive, Raffaele Cammarano, the prosecutor of the case, said: “We have tried to find out maximum information possible from the crew members or the survivors – all I would say is that the incident happened really, really suddenly.
“The inquiry will begin with the facts of the shipwreck – that is all I can say at the moment.”
Mr Cammarano suggested that passengers may not have been able to escape from the yacht because they were asleep. Asked why they were not woken up or alerted, he said that is something investigators are trying to work out. He said several of the bodies onboard the sunken yacht were found in a single cabin which was not theirs.
Asked whether there was a black box on the ship and if the hatches were left open, he said: “We haven’t got exact information about the black box. It was extremely difficult to get inside some of the cabins and the yacht itself."
Mr Cammarano, was asked about the vessel’s crew undergoing alcohol and drug testing, and said officials were trying to conduct those tests.
A leading coastguard official said he could not confirm how long it would take to retrieve the shipwreck of the sunken yacht, adding that recovering the fuel tanks was a “priority for us because it has environmental knock-on effects”.
Asked about the timeline of recovering the wreck, maritime director of western Sicily Rear Admiral Raffaele Macauda said: “Well, you know, we’re talking about a shipwreck at 50 metres down. “Everything depends on the availability of the owners and the timeframe of the retrieval of the wreck and of course all that has to be submitted to the port authorities and in parallel of course there will be the inquiry results and it’s only really then that we will be able to authorise the operation.
“I can’t say, like some experts who have already spoken on the subject, that it will be eight weeks. “But the preliminary phase which we requested was to retrieve the wreck and after that we can proceed with the rest.
"There are specialised companies after all who can proceed with getting up the fuel tanks, for example, first, so that’s a priority for us because it has environmental knock-on effects and then we’ll work out a proper timeframe – a plan with a timeframe.”
The press conference heard that no post-mortem examinations have been carried out yet.
Of the 22 passengers and crew on board, 15, including Mr Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, were rescued after escaping on to a lifeboat.
The boat trip was a celebration of Mr Lynch’s acquittal in a fraud case in the US.
The businessman, who founded software giant Autonomy in 1996, was cleared in June of carrying out a massive fraud relating to its 11 billion dollar (£8.64 billion) sale to US company Hewlett Packard.

Mr Cammarano was asked about whether there is a black box and if the hatches were left open.
He said investigators do not have exact information about the black box and that the first phase of the inquiry will look into it.
Why were nearby vessels not similarly affected?
Another yacht, the Sir Robert BP, was about 150 to 200 metres from the Bayesian when extreme weather hit.
Its crew helped to rescue 15 people from the stricken vessel.
Italian officials said they would be looking at how the downburst could affect one vehicle and not other nearby vessels.
What weather warnings was the Bayesian alerted to?

He made clear that the owners will bear the full cost of retrieval, although he could not estimate the figure.

Marine investigator James Wilkes has been speaking to Sky News after this morning's press conference.
"Naturally, there are more questions than there are substantive answers at the moment - that's the nature of investigative work.
"Something forced that yacht to roll beyond its nominal stability limits, such that it wasn't able to right itself with the ingress of a certain amount of seawater that was coming into the yacht.
"So the investigators are going to ask themselves one initial question - what must the conditions have been for this to happen?
"Then they are going to look at the contributing factors to the yacht, sinking, and, and the unfortunate loss of life."
Prosecutors said this morning that the future of the investigation is reliant on recovering the wreck.
Mr Wilkes said the yacht is a "major piece of physical evidence in and of itself."
"It's lying at 50 metres, which is a recoverable depth.
"If it was significantly deeper, then I'm not sure they'd be considering salvage at this stage or certainly, the salvage question would be a lot more complicated to answer.
"But if there was the ability to raise that yacht in one piece safely, then it gives the investigators physically more to look at."
Mr Wilkes said he was unsure if the yacht would have a "black box" - called a voyage data recorder in shipping.
"It would record things like GPS position, heading speed, engine telemetry, whether the radars were on, what they were recording, alarms, communications from the yacht itself, any audio on the bridge.
"But more often than not, these are on merchant ships. The yacht was a commercial yacht in the sense that it could be chartered out so it's quite possible it has a voyage data recorder on, but I'm not sure that it does. I don't know that as a matter of fact," he said.
For days we have been waiting to hear from those on the frontline of this rescue mission.
And today finally, we did. Speaking for an hour and a half to the surprise of local journalists who couldn't believe what they were hearing alongside the world's press.
First-hand accounts of the gruelling, distressing and meticulous work that led to the discovery of the bodies of those missing on board the Bayesian.
Mr Cartosio said he had felt the need to conduct a press conference given the international interest in the event.
Flanking the head public prosecutor were representatives from the fire and rescue service and the members of the coastguard.
Some 11 highly specialised divers spent a total of 4,470 minutes underwater searching the vessels across five days.
By the end, there was little visibility in the water but they persevered and by lunchtime on Friday they had recovered the final missing person.
The discoveries of the bodies of all those onboard was difficult for divers despite their years of experience.
The foyer of the courthouse in Termini Imerese - a town just outside the Sicilian capital and some 10 miles from the scene of the tragedy - was packed.
Some 100 journalists on white plastic chairs scribbling away as details about the mission and the subsequent investigation were revealed for the first time.
The world's media heard the scope of the investigation was broad and that the aim of it was to find who is responsible.
Charges relating to shipwreck and manslaughter are being considered but nothing is being ruled out.
The six bodies that were recovered in the five-day rescue operation were found in the cabins on the left-hand side of the ship, prosecutors reveal.
They were trying to hide there after the ship sunk and landed on its right-hand side (see 9.24am post).

Prosecutors have confirmed that the captain of the Bayesian will undergo more questioning.
The yacht's captain James Cutfield has already been questioned for more than two hours by Italian prosecutors.
Prosecutors added that Mr Cutfield had been "extremely cooperative".
They also indicated that British and American authorities are involved in the investigation.
"Well the inquiry is Italian... [but] yes, things are underway from the foreign judicial authorities."
The passengers who died were probably asleep, prosecutors said, and this is the reason they failed to escape.
Officials suggested that "they were asleep whereas the others weren't".
We heard earlier that it was "clear people were trying to hide in cabins on the left hand side" as the ship landed on its right-hand side after it sank (see 9.24am post).
The first five bodies were found in the first cabin on left hand side and the final body was found in the third cabin.
The prosecutors' press conference is ongoing.

There was a "slight deviation of anchorage because of a piece of archaeology nearby", prosecutors added.

He told the press conference "from the information we have, it is a downburst we are talking about".

"Apart from extreme events which are being verified by the prosecutor, there was a great deal of visibility," the official said.
"And as you can see from the internet there was forecasts from midnight to 4am, winds of a strength of five from the north-west and the west and a storm alert.
"But there wasn't an alert of a tornado."

It emerges that British technology tycoon Mike Lynch and his daughter are among six tourists that remain missing.

The search continues for the six tourists missing.
It is reported that among those missing are Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer; his wife, Judy Bloomer; Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo; and his wife, Neda Morvillo.
Police divers try to reach the hull of the ship, resting at a depth of 50 metres.
Italy’s fire brigade Vigili del Fuoco say early inspections of the wreck were “unsuccessful” because of limited access to the bridge and furniture obstructing passages.
The operation is later described as “complex”, with divers limited to 12-minute underwater shifts.
The Italian Coastguard tell PA they fear the six missing tourists have died, with their bodies trapped inside the luxury yacht.
It is confirmed that the body recovered at the scene of the sinking on Monday was that of Canadian-Antiguan national Recaldo Thomas, who was working as a chef on the yacht.
Tributes pour in for the cook, with his friend Gareth Williams telling the BBC: “I can talk for everyone that knew him when I say he was a well-loved, kind human being with a calm spirit.”

The search for the six people unaccounted for enters a third day, with crews carrying out inspections of the yacht’s internal hull.
A team of four British inspectors from the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) arrive in Porticello to look at the site of the sinking.
A helicopter is drafted in to help with the search effort and remotely controlled underwater vehicles are being used, with naval units and cave divers also taking part in the search.
Five bodies are found inside the yacht on Wednesday afternoon. Only four of them are brought to shore.
Body bags are seen being taken to the port of Porticello in the afternoon where dozens of emergency services staff wait.
Searches finish for the day just before 7.30pm.

The search resumes for the remaining missing person.
The body of the fifth missing person, found but not recovered the previous day, is brought to shore.
A fire service boat with flashing blue lights returns with a blue body bag to the port of Porticello just after 8.45am local time on Thursday.
Tributes pour in for Mr Lynch and Mr and Mrs Bloomer after they are identified as having died.
The search is called off at around 8pm in Sicily, with divers expected to begin again at 6.30am on Friday.

The search continues for the final person missing from the wreck of the Bayesian, later confirmed to be 18-year-old Hannah.
Vincenzo Zagarola, of the Italian Coastguard, says the search for Hannah has not been “easy or quick”, comparing the sunken yacht to an “18-storey building full of water”.
The coastguard confirms in the late morning that her body has been found.
A green body bag is seen being brought to the port of Porticello from the site of the sinking.
A spokesperson announces on behalf of her family that they are “devastated” and “in shock” after the bodies of Hannah and her father were recovered.
Hannah’s sister Esme pays tribute to her “little angel”.

Mr Cammarano said investigators currently do not know the reason for them being discovered in the same cabin.
The chief of the Palermo fire service, Bentivoglio Fiandra, said the yacht pinned to the right and suggested people tried to go on the other side, taking refuge in cabins in the higher part of the wreck.

The vessel had been deemed “unsinkable” by its manufacturer – Italian shipyard Perini Navi.
The Bayesian was hit by a downburst, according to Mr Cammarano, which are powerful winds that descend from a thunderstorm and spread out quickly once they hit the ground.
Officials will look into the safety equipment on the sunken vessel.
Mr Cammarano was asked about whether there is a black box and if the hatches were left open.
He said investigators do not have exact information about the black box and that the first phase of the inquiry will look into it.

Another yacht, the Sir Robert BP, was about 150 to 200 metres from the Bayesian when extreme weather hit.
Its crew helped to rescue 15 people from the stricken vessel.
Italian officials said they would be looking at how the downburst could affect one vehicle and not other nearby vessels.
– What weather warnings was the Bayesian alerted to?
Maritime director of western Sicily Rear Admiral Raffaele Macauda said the weather at the time of the yacht’s sinking was abnormal and there was nothing to suggest such an extreme situation would arise.
He said there were forecasts of winds and a storm alert, but there was no warning of a tornado.
According to a translation by the BBC, he said: “Given that the conditions were such, there wasn’t anything to suggest there could be an extreme situation arising.
“There are vessels that can monitor, after all, these events and one would have thought that the captain had taken precautions.”
– How long will it take to recover the sailing vessel?
Mr Macauda could not confirm how long it would take to retrieve the shipwreck of the sunken yacht.
“Everything depends on the availability of the owners and the timeframe of the retrieval of the wreck and of course all that has to be submitted to the port authorities and in parallel of course there will be the inquiry results and it’s only really then that we will be able to authorise the operation,” he said, according to a BBC translation.
“I can’t say, like some experts who have already spoken on the subject, that it will be eight weeks.”
He made clear that the owners will bear the full cost of retrieval, although he could not estimate the figure.
