'Helios' , our Bavaria 44 Sailboat is for Sale By Owners Jean & Françoise Cremet

We are the original owners of the 2004 Bavaria 44 'Helios' on which we have spent happy years, but feel now that we are getting too old to handle her. 

'Helios' is in excellent condition and ready to sail and fully outfitted for extended cruising. She is a 44ft sloop, with quite new sails and a well-maintained 55 H.P. Volvo Penta engine.

'Helios' is currently in Rio Dulce, Guatemala. Delivery to Florida can be negotiated.

We bought this German boat new from Bavaria in 2004. It is one of the last of the Bavaria 44 series. We sailed in the Mediterranean for a few years and then headed to the Caribbean. Now the boat is in Rio Dulce, Guatemala and for the past three years we have been sailing in the Gulf of Honduras. Every year the boat is hauled out for the rainy season. We make sure that the boat is always kept in good condition thanks to continuing maintenance. Bottom paint has been done every year, there are no blisters. The boat has never been chartered. She is registered in Saint-Nazaire (France) under number SN E 14406

Length overall: 13.95 m (45,76 ') Length waterline: 11.45 m (37,56 ') Beam: 4,25 m (13.94 ') Draught: 1.65 m (5.41') Estimated tonnage according to builder: Gross tonnage: 11,91, Net tonnage: 3.57 Bridge clearance without antenna: 18.15 m (60') (with VHF antenna: less than 65') Fresh water tanks: 1 x 210 liters (55,4 US gallons) + 1 x 150 liters (39,6 US gallons) Fuel tank: 210 liters (55.4 US Gallons)

The two steering wheels make easy access from the swim ladder. Lazarets are located under the two benches. The folding table in the middle is made of solid exotic wood, and has some storing room beneath.

Covers of steering wheels have been remade. Instruments in the cockpit: speed and depth (Raymarine i50), wind (Raymarine ST60), autopilot controller (Raymarine P70S). 2 Plastimo Olympic 135 compasses.

Teak floor. Upholstery in good condition.

Friendly salon

Storage room under the seats. Four opening portholes and a hatch. Bookshelf on the starboard side. Numerous cabinets. Upholstery in good condition.

Navigation Station

Chart plotter is a Raymarine a65. Radar is displayed as well on this Raymarine a65. Fixed VHF is a Navicom RT750 West Marine portable VHF AC outlet operating on dock power.

Numerous cabinets on both sides, hanging locker, storage space under berth and seat. Opening porthole and hatch. Private head access.

Both aft cabins have a double berth, hanging lockers, two opening portholes, and a hatch. Aft head adjacent to port aft cabin.

Linear galley on portside. Dual burner stove, oven, 12V refrigerator, double bowl sink. Fresh water pump : Jabsco Sea water faucet.

Heads & Showers

2 head and shower compartments, each compartment has an opening porthole. One ensuite with master cabin. Aft head with holding tank Both heads have a manual Jabsco flushing system Water heater: Isotemp slim 15 Marine 4gallons AC outlet in aft head operating on dock power.

Deck & Rigging

Anchor: primary anchor Simpson Lawrence 20, with 80 meter of 10 mm chain; secondary anchor; third light anchor with leaded line. Windlass: Tigres Lofran 1200 W

Genoa furler: Furlex Mast,boom and downhaul: Selden Releasable forestay Rigging was inspected and deemed in good condition in May 2023.

Winches: Harken 2 x 2 speed 48 + 2 x 2 speed 40 Sheet tracks: Rutgerson Cleats: Spinlock

All the halyards and reef lines are led back to the cockpit.
