The best technologies of the past and future were combined to create 154-foot (47 meter) Asolare (ex. Scheherazade). Every detail was carefully considered and flawlessly crafted. Designed by Bruce King Yacht Design without portholes so the exterior could exist as a continuous hull form, she’s a beautiful and highly powerful sailing yacht. Hundreds of hand-crafted carvings and details were blended with state-of-the-art construction and technology.
Every detail of the Winch Designs designed interior was carefully considered and flawlessly crafted. The furniture features harlequin bookmatched fiddle back sycamore panels cored for weight reduction and structural stability. All of the exquisite interior joinery was hand crafted by Hodgdon Yachts.
124' SLOOP
Antonisa, a 124-foot (37.8 meter) sloop designed by Bruce King Yacht Design, features highly detailed black cherry interior woodwork incorporated with modern engineering, systems, and technology. Hodgdon’s passion for excellence is reflected in many details that may typically go unnoticed, including classic Bruce King designed joinery. Complex moldings sawn to shape from solid pieces of wood and various design elements are carried throughout the boat.
100' SUPER MAXI
Designed by VPLP / Verdier and constructed in the largest marine oven in the United States in just 12 months, Superyacht Comanche is intended to be the fastest monohull ever built. She is constructed of pre-preg carbon fiber, resulting in an extremely light and strong hull and features a canting keel, daggerboards, water ballast and large sail area. Comanche features a wide, shallow hull and high power-to-weight ratio.
Comanche’s accomplishments include the following:
Setting the 24-hour monohull speed record of 618.01 miles (traveling at an average speed of 25.75 kts)
Line honors at the 2015, 2017, and 2019 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

DELTA HOUSE
(ex. windcrest), 98' ketch.
Designed by Fontaine Design Group with graceful overhangs and sweeping sheerline, 98-foot (29.9 meter) Delta House (ex. Windcrest) was designed for coastal cruising and offshore passages. Her impressive performance on the water is supported by a generous sail plan and one-touch sail control that includes in-boom furling. The exquisitely laid teak deck is enhanced by custom designed stainless steel and hydraulic winches. While traditional in appearance, Delta House (ex. Windcrest) is a sophisticated 21st century vessel.
Furniture panels are made of a flame crotch veneers and bulkhead panels are a flat-sawn cherry. Leather and fabrics complement the natural woods and selected upper panels are painted off-white. The entire interior was built by Hodgdon's in-house team.

83' custom motor yacht.
Built by Hodgdon to the highest specifications of the day, Kizbel (ex. Yorel) was designed by Eldridge-McInnis with modifications by Russ Woodin. Traditionally built at her original owner’s request, this luxury motor yacht has a surprisingly simple layout. The cabin sole throughout is teak and holly and overhead beams are capped with teak beamcaps, adding to the boat’s traditional interior. Kizbel offers accommodation for up to six guests, a crew of three, and is powered by 2 Duetz diesel engines and propelled by twin screw propellers. Complete with a modern stabilization system to reduce roll motion, she comfortably cruises at over 10.5 knots.
80' COMMUTER
Reminiscent of 1920’s Wall Street commuter yachts, Liberty is constructed using Hodgdon’s proprietary cold molded wood boat building techniques and combines traditional design with state-of-the-art materials and innovative systems. This 80-foot motor yacht – designed by Bruce King Yacht Design with interior designed by the owner and Allan Walton Design – is powered by a pair of 1,100-hp MAN diesel engines and comfortably cruises at over 25 knots.
The mahogany interior features an inlaid star pattern forward of the gallery, a rosette motif aft, and book-matched panels. This structured geometric patterning and combination of elegance and boldness provide an “art deco” feel. Every piece of decorative hardware and the portlights on Liberty are custom-cast. Tapering in size as the ports run forward, the portlights are the most unique of these castings. Much of the exterior hardware emulates the “art deco” designed interior.
65' SLOOP
Ideal for racing and extended open water cruising, 65-foot (18.9 meter) custom performance sailing yacht Prevail was designed by Tripp Designs and built to CE standards in the USA. The boat is comfortable, competitive, and easily driven, thanks to the hull shape and powerful sail plan. Below deck, there are three modern and luxurious cabins.
The boat’s interior features Alaskan Yellow Cedar inner hull skin ceilings, which provide an elegant modern look. The layout includes three cabins with ensuite heads, galley, salon, and interior navigation and steering station. All joinery is cherry honeycombed veneer and white-painted composite panels to reduce weight.

With her stylish interior designed by Andrew Winch design of London and architecture done by well known Bruce King Yacht Design office, this fast cruising sailing yacht embodies all the ancient skills and integrity of a traditional boat builder, who created a super yacht with classic styling whose exterior line is low and sleek yet with a dramatic reverse transom, all upgraded with cutting edge technology both below and on deck.
She was fully refitted in 2013 and is now an excellent charter yacht for couples with children or single adults, seeking a luxury crewed yacht charter with distinguished owner requirements. ASOLARE's super yacht crew of 6 are usually offering luxury crewed charter itineraries around the East and the West Mediterranean in the summer and the East Caribbean, primarily Leeward and Windward Islands in the winter. Tip: Super yacht ASOLARE has one of the largest master suites with his and her office on top of the large sleeping area. Her furniture is made out of harlequin book-matched panels with around three hundred various relief carved seashells in walnut with burled walnut furniture tops being used. Many overhead ports and hatches combined with Andrew Winch's interior create an atrium-like atmosphere in the main saloon. The bathrooms are decorated with lavish white marble counters and well heated, modern towel racks. One of the best features of this superb charter yacht is the rock-solid glass specially designed to fit around the upper saloon, a result of which are very nice panoramic views. A yacht with a very generous deck layout accommodating 6 guests and 6 crew members, ASOLARE provides excellent space for all to move around with ease. The most used areas tend to be two cockpits, with the main one mainly being used as the formal dining area in the open and the second smaller one, just a few steps up from the vast owner’s area below, which is a perfect spot for informal gatherings or relaxed book reading. Luxury sailing yacht ASOLARE (47.2m / 155’) is a US built super yacht launched by Hodgdon shipyard back in 2003. Fully refitted during 2013, she accommodates up to 6 charter guests sleeping in 1 Master and 2 twin cabins all of which are en suite. There are always at least up to 6 super yacht crew members on board including the captain.
This charter yacht mainly cruises at speeds of around 10kn and is normally offered for luxury crewed yacht charters within the West Mediterranean, between St Tropez and Portofino in the summer or East Caribbean Leeward and Windward Islands during winter months. Her crew are happy to offer ONE WAY or TANDEM charters between other destinations too. Thanks to her DDC/MTU super yacht engine totalling 960hp, and an impressive sail area, during the right sea and wind conditions, she can reach maximum speeds of around 14-20kn. Her best features traditional styling, Andrew Winch interior design and enormous master suite.

The Luxury sailing yacht SCHEHERAZADE is a 47m (154ft) ketch built by Hodgdon Yachts in 2000. She was designed by Bruce King Yacht Design , Inc. with interior design by Andrew Winch Designs of London, England.
Superyacht SCHEHERAZADE is a fast ketch embodying the skill and integrity of the ancient boat builder’s art. This luxury sailing yacht is classic in proportion and line, totally modern in systems and controls, she is fantastic sailing yacht with a beautiful and comfortable interior.
Luxury ASOLARE
The interior of charter yacht SCHEHERAZADE designed by Andrew Winch was crafted from fiddle back sycamore and walnut woods. SCHEHERAZADE furniture features harlequin book matched panels and more than 350 relief carved seashells in walnut with burled walnut furniture tops. The numerous overhead ports and hatches combined with the lovely Andrew Winch interior create an atrium-like atmosphere in the main saloon.
The SCHEHERAZADE yacht is able to accommodate up to 6 charter guests in 3 cabins including a master suite that takes up the entire after portion of the yacht’s aft deck – it is a beautiful multi-cabin apartment. The master suite has a king-size bed, a built-in sofa, his and hers bathroom and a staircase leading directly onto the aft private deck sitting area. Two en-suite cabins are used as offices or libraries.
Moving forward from the yacht’s rotunda from the main saloon there are two identical twin staterooms with ample beds and en-suite bathrooms.
Specially formed rock-solid glass around the upper saloon offer beautiful 180-degree views. The generous deck layout provides plenty of room for crew and guests to move around with ease. Two large tables in the main cockpit are ideal for al fresco sheltered dining. A second cockpit further aft creates a private gathering spot just a few steps up from the master suite.
The yacht’s composite hull construction method used western red cedar wood, Douglas fir, divinycell, balsa core and carbon. All of these materials were epoxied and vacuum bagged to create a strong, stiff and monolithic structure.
Luxury sailing yacht SCHEHERAZADE was not available for charter during the summer of 2011 however she will be available for charter in the Caribbean this winter season, based out of Antigua .

The harbour front was busy with tourists and locals enjoying the beautiful sunny day. There was a small, yet noticeable swell in the harbour, a leftover from Hurricane Irene. Nova Scotia was fortunate to miss much of the wind and rain that the Northeastern USA received.
The waterfront had the usual “buskers” entertaining along the walkway, Nova Scotian fiddlers and other musicians. Young families, strollers and joggers hurrying by, business men and women and tourists from near and far.

The masts of the charter yacht SCHEHERAZADE were clearly a standout on the waterfront. There was a steady stream of admirers enjoying the beauty of the S/Y Scheherazade. It is a pastime of Halifax harbour watchers to imagine who might be sailing on such a sleek boat. Perhaps a famous movie star. In Halifax, it has been known to happen!

She was spotless and well-polished, thanks to her hard working crew.
The Halifax boardwalk has been expanding and improved over the past years and now travels from Pier 21, the national immigration museum (Canada’s equivalent of Ellis Island in New York City) to Purdy’s Wharf, a twin tower office complex near the naval dockyards.
For those less adventurous but would like a little sailing experience Halifax offers several harbour tours such as the “the Mar II”, “the Silva”, the two Halifax ferryboats and on occasions, the Bluenose II. Naturally, there is even a “Harbour Hopper” seen coming in to look at Scheherazade.
Halifax, a safe and exciting port for any vessel and any sailor!

Italy impounds $700 million megayacht linked to Putin
ROME — Italian financial authorities said Friday that they have impounded a $700 million megayacht that has been linked in media reports and by anti-Kremlin groups to Russian President Vladimir Putin. But an element of mystery remains: Italy, in what it called its “ freezing decree ,” did not say who the owner might be.
Italian investigators had raced to investigate the vessel and prevent it from leaving the Tuscan port of Marina di Carrara. The yacht, known as the Scheherazade, had been undergoing repairs since before Russia invaded Ukraine. But this week, it returned to the water, according to a New York Times reporter who visited the marina, prompting fears that the vessel might depart and evade sanctions.
The ship, until the measures imposed Friday evening, would have been free to leave.
In announcing its action, Italy’s Finance Ministry said the yacht’s owner had “prominent” links with Russians already under European Union sanctions. The name of the owner was not specified, and Italy said only that its government had asked the E.U. to add the person to its sanctions list.
A spokesman for the Finance Ministry described Italy’s move as “provisional.”
Italy “proposed to the Council of the European Union the inclusion of the owner of the boat in the list,” the spokesman said. “Until then, the name cannot be public.”
In March, an investigation by the Italian daily La Stampa named the boat’s owner as Eduard Khudainatov, a former Russian oil executive. But the newspaper also raised a question about how somebody not listed as a billionaire could afford to purchase one of the world’s most luxurious yachts.
So, speculation about the Scheherazade has only intensified. Investigators working for jailed Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny say the yacht’s owner is Putin himself. In March, Navalny’s team published what it said was the crew list of people who had worked on the yacht. They purportedly include members of the Russian state agency responsible for Putin’s personal protection.
“We think that this is a solid enough proof that Scheherazade belongs to Putin himself and must be immediately seized,” said Maria Pevchikh, the head of the Navalny-founded FBK investigation team.
The assets of Russia’s ruling and billionaire class are generally kept in tight secrecy, controlled on paper through opaque offshore companies. That has made it difficult in some cases for European countries to ascertain the real owners of villas, yachts and other luxury items. The Scheherazade is officially owned by an offshore company from the Marshall Islands, Pevchikh said.
Before Friday, Italy had managed to detain a $560 million megayacht connected to Andrey Melnichenko, a coal and fertilizer tycoon who is one of Russia’s 10 richest people. Italy has also blocked access to villas that oligarchs use as summer getaways.
