Obviously we fell in love with the lines first and then the spaciousness next.

The Westwind 42 is a 41.99ft staysail ketch designed by George H. Stadel III and built in fiberglass by Blue Water Yacht Builders Ltd. (TAIWAN) since 1981. It accomodates 6 people in 3 cabins plus salon. The Westwind 42 is a heavy sailboat which is under powered. It is reasonably stable / stiff and has an excellent righting capability if capsized.

This is a very solidly built boat with a thick hull, modified full keel, 9200 pounds of encapsulated iron ballast, and lots of teak. Our girl weighs in at 32,000 lb empty (according to the crane operator). Gypsy will be my 3rd, and favorite, boat restoration.
