Cannes Yacht Charters on the French Riviera

Below: view a selection of charter yachts in cannes | browse the full list of local yacht charters here | read about yacht charters in france | browse all the france yacht specials.

Witness some of the largest luxury superyacht charter boats jostle for position in the famous bay of Cannes, France. Cannes is certainly one of the more famous private luxury yacht destinations in France, let alone the world.

A Cannes yacht charter vacation brings you into the very heart of the French Riviera and this famous luxury destination has all the features that a glamorous seaside resort town should have. Golden sand beaches fringe the promenades and the harbour is filled with superyachts at its two main marinas. World-class hotels and restaurants further enhance the prestige of this location, which annually hosts the Cannes Film Festival among its packed calendar of events.

Each May the restaurants, bars, hotels, beaches, and promenades fill up with the rich and famous from the movie industry, making a Mediterranean luxury yacht charter in Cannes the perfect base at the heart of the action. For those looking for a quick escape from the glitz and glamour the Iles de Lerins are mostly covered in pine forests with secretive beaches to the south for tranquil relaxation or fun with the water toys.

From Cannes, sailing yachts and motor yachts have access to other impressive cultural or natural destinations such as Antibes, Nice, Monaco and St. Tropez. The 200+ beaches of Corsica lie just beyond the sea and Sardinia is also a bio-diverse wonder catering to all aspects of the luxury yachting lifestyle at Porto Cervo.

Cannes is relatively tranquil for most of the year and conveys the relaxed feel of a beach resort. Cannes is positioned quite centrally along the French Riviera with easy access to Antibes, Nice and Monaco in the north and St. Tropez in the south. A power yacht could almost explore all of these ports, in a couple of days.

The Cost to Charter a Private Boat in Cannes:

Cannes yacht charter prices begin at around 15,000 Euro, all-inclusive and go up to over 1,000,000 Euro plus expenses. There are thousands of charter yachts available in Cannes at prices between these figures. Here is the full list of yachts available in Cannes this year.

5 quick reasons to visit Cannes:

The Cannes Film Festival and other international festivals held throughout the year, sensational cuisine, fantastic shopping, world-class museums and beautiful gardens.

Cannes Yacht Charter Experiences

In the Old Quarter beside the marina, take in the artistry that was poured into the Church of Our Lady of Esperance and continue your journey through a different era with the Musée de la Castre just a short walk away. The Villa Rothschild & Gardens are now a public library and well worth a visit on a stroll through the Cannes streets, while back at the marina the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes is an unmistakable modern building that hosts not only the Cannes Film Festival but the Fireworks Festival, Dance Festival and International Games Festival throughout the year.

Shopping opportunities abound in Cannes, where big brand names such as Louis Vuitton and Burberry line the streets along with one of a kind art galleries and boutiques for that bespoke piece for the home or wardrobe.

As one of the better known yacht charter ports in France and indeed the Mediterranean, Cannes offers all the main types of yacht charters such as motor, sailing, skippered, crewed yachts, catamarans, power boats, luxury yachts and off-course the ever increasing superyacht charter.

What characterises the Mediterranean is its myriad architectural styles spanning an incredible and tumultuous history, magnificent beaches that stretch for miles or are hidden in forested coves, clear blue seas and an abundance of ports and yachting facilities for superyachts of all shapes and sizes.

The Western Mediterranean is one of the world’s premier yacht charter locations – and Cannes is positioned strategically to experience the best of what the region has to offer.

More about this part of France

The Cannes luxury yacht charter location is part of a larger region known as the South of France, the Cote d'Azur or the French Riviera. There is no fixed definition for the French Riviera, however the Calanques National Park to the west and Monaco to the east are generally considered its boundaries.

Pack your week-long holiday with vineyard tours, beaches and grottoes, with satisfying snorkelling and Scuba diving sites for all ages and abilities up and down the coast. Festivals, concerts and other events are on regularly throughout the year. This culturally rich region has been influenced by the Greeks and Romans, aristocratic Russians, poets, writers, artists and musicians throughout the centuries, leaving behind a bounty of castles, fortresses, flavoursome recipes and works of art that will characterise your holiday.

Things to Consider:

Yachting Seasons & Climate: Cannes in the summer has a comfortable average temperature of 27°C/81°F, whereas a luxury yacht charter in December and the New Year will experience temperatures around 7°C/44°F. October tends to be the wettest month with June through to August the driest period.

Clothing to Pack for Your Charter: From the sensational beaches to the centre of Cannes, your wardrobe will be varied to match the occasion: Pack smart wear for attending galas and casinos, light layers for the summer months and a jacket for the cooler evenings. If visiting religious sites, clothing should cover shoulders and thighs.

Main Ports and Marinas: Le Vieux Port, Port Pierre-Canto, Port Pointe Croisette

Famous Restaurants & Clubs: La Palme d'Or restaurant, Da Boutta - Auberge Provençale restaurant, Le Park 45 restaurant, Le Bar à Vin, Chrystie Bar, Le Bar L'Amiral, Martinez Bar

A Must See Attraction: Cannes Film Festival, Dance Festival, Fireworks Festival, International Games Festival

Best beaches to visit in your yacht:

Bijou Plage, Plage de la Croisette, Plage de la Bocca, Plage du Midi, Petite Plage Sainte Marguerite, Plage des Pierres Hautes

Local Yacht Events: Cannes Film Festival, Cannes Yachting Festival

Best time to go: From May until the end of September the Mediterranean is bursting with regattas, beach parties and music festivals. To have land-based locations and popular beaches to yourselves, avoid visiting in July and August when the school summer holidays take place. The Mediterranean is also a great winter destination, offering a warmer climate to the east and an atmospheric holiday experience among Belle Epoch architecture along the French Riviera.

Cannes Yacht Charter Enquiry

The cruise was fantastic and the "Impulse" is a truly comfortable and luxurious yacht and we all enjoyed our team there very much. Everything was perfectly prepared when we arrived and the crew was amazing --- Jolande is a fantastic and creative chef who created the most delicious food always wonderfully presented (I very much enjoyed joining her early morning in St. Tropez on her shopping tour to the fish market and other lovely butchers, bakeries and cheese shop where we found the most delicious ingredients for her magical cooking), Bernadette took care of us in the most friendly and attentive way and last but not least Tim, a very helpful and insightful skipper who showed us the most beautiful places. The "Impulse" is a wonderful yacht but the crew made us feel right away at "home" amongst friends. To make a long story short, the cruise was a wonderful and most enjoyable experience and I'm sure it was not the last time I spend time on the "Impulse". Guide to Cannes

Its beauty once an enticing muse for Picasso and Cocteau

Backed by gentle hills and flanked to the southwest by the rugged cliffs and wild rivers of the Corniche d’Esterel, the exuberant seaside town of Cannes has become a sybaritic haven for those looking to escape in unrivalled luxury. Famed for its Fifties status as a millionaires playground and the glittering annual film festival, it still retains the charm, glamour and allure of its heyday.

Synonymous with the high life, few spots better symbolise the opulence of the  South of France  than La Croissette, with its boutique studded promenade that lines the shores. Bordered by contrasting beauty, on one side the glistening sea laps enchanting narrow beaches back-dropped by towering cliffs in the distance. On the other intimate restaurants, chic café-bistros and luxurious hotels lure in the crowds departing their superyachts for evenings full of extravagant revelry.

La Croissette is best viewed from the highest point of Cannes’ Old Town, Le Suquet, where the remains of the fortified tower still stand, along with the 12th century Chapel of St Anne. The warmth of the Mediterranean sun beats down on the ever brassy and vibrant streets with a fantastic choice of restaurants along the steeply winding Rue St Antoine. Explore the leafy Quartier des Anglais, see the contemporary art set in a 19th-century mansion at La Malmaison or take a trip to the nearby island of St Honorat.

There is more to Cannes than style and glamour - seeing the magnificent red hills of the Esterel mountains rising up dramatically in the distance as you approach its dazzling coastline is a scene to behold. In calm conditions, it is the perfect place to moor, swim, dive, and soak up the sun before stepping ashore to enjoy the hedonistic atmosphere of this iconic location on the French Riviera .

Each year Cannes plays host to world-renowned events like the International Cannes Film Festival , Palais des Festivals, and esteemed antique shows which are held twice a year.

For a perfect day out, anchor in the shelter of the Lerins Islands, land near the Palm Beach Casino and walk in the Croisette beachfront towards the old harbour and sample some fresh seafood from any of the bistros for lunch. Spend the afternoon at the colourful Saturday market in the Bocca district and stock up on the local products including olive oil, Provencal herbs and lavender, honey and olive oil soaps, which you will find along the narrow Rue Meynadier.

If you want to discover any of these highlights, or explore Cannes and see what else the town has to offer, begin planning your next yacht charter vacation by viewing the entire fleet available for Cannes yacht charters .

Best broker in South of France ! Highly recommended

Once again the best service from Arthaud Yachting for the Summer of 2018. We booked several charters with them this summer and each one was managed perfectly. They provide an excellent professional service and go above and beyond the rest ! I honestly couldn’t rate them highly enough and wouldn’t think of using any other company. Thanks Hugo and see you next year !!

A wonderful cruising experience in the bay of Cannes for my US guests. Arthaud Yachting provided an exclusive MY and delivered excellent services during the day, making sure everything was ok. Thanks a million to the lovely & caring crew and its captain for making this day such a good experience!

A very professional team in the organization and realization of events. Very successful. To recommend.

Hi Caroline,

If service were an art, Arthaud Yachting would be the artist. These guys are not only swift with their responses, friendly and professional, they go above and beyond the call of duty to meet your needs. […] And they were very competitively priced. […] You need not hesitate to book with Arthaud Yachting; you won’t be anything other than 100 per cent satisfied. I will certainly look for a reason to use them again – they will have my business for many years to come. Thank you Arthaud Yachting!

We had a fantastic trip. Every aspect of it was incredible. The crew were the most professional, respectful, and kind hosts we could have wished for to take around the Riviera. Yacht Description

Motor Yacht ANTISAN is a magnificent 33m luxury yacht built by the esteemed Spertini/Alalunga shipyard in Italy and designed specifically for charter purposes. The yacht has undergone continuous upgrades to ensure she remains in excellent condition. ANTISAN is the ideal vessel for yacht charters in the Mediterranean, as well as corporate yacht charters during events like the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix. The yacht ANTISAN is based in the Port of Cannes, adjacent to the Palais des Festivals, where several famous events take place such as Cannes Lions, Cannes Film Festival, TFWA Cannes and the MIPIM property exhibition.

ANTISAN is one of the few charter yachts that can legally accommodate more than 12 guests, with a capacity of up to 40 guests cruising. This makes her the perfect yacht for large groups, corporate events, yacht weddings, and parties. ANTISAN is a preferred choice for professional footballers, athletes, and celebrities looking to have a day out on the water with friends on the French Riviera.

Luxury yacht ANTISAN has a beam of nearly 8 meters, providing ample deck space and internal volume for entertainment. Her interiors are elegant and spacious, featuring beautiful walnut cabinetry and refined, neutral fabrics. The main saloon has comfortable seating and a beautiful dining area. The yacht’s huge master cabin is located forward on the main deck and features an ensuite bathroom with a jacuzzi bathtub. The yacht also has four more guest cabins, three spacious doubles, and a twin cabin with an additional pullman berth. Every guest cabin onboard charter yacht ANTISAN is ensuite and has Satellite TV, Hifi, and full air-conditioning. The yacht undergoes regular improvements inside and out, with no expense spared by the owner to keep it looking modern and offering the highest level of amenities.

Charter yacht ANTISAN features a large dining table on the aft deck that can seat 10-12 guests for lunches and dinners. Forward, there are spacious sunpads and a deck jacuzzi for ultimate relaxation. The upper deck is fully covered and can seat up to 30 people for sit-down meals, a rare feature on yachts of this size.

This makes ANTISAN the perfect yacht for corporate yacht charters, product launches, weddings, and prestigious events such as MIPIM, Cannes Film Festival, Cannes Lions, and the Monaco GP. The yacht can host fabulous parties in port for 70+ guests, and additional space on the quay can accommodate even more. At the MIPIM property exhibition in Cannes every March, ANTISAN regularly welcomes over 2,000 guests over the four days of the event.

In addition to a prime berth in the Port of Cannes, Motor yacht ANTISAN can secure the best berths in Monaco and St Tropez for your next event on the French Riviera!

The most crucial aspect of a successful yacht charter is a great crew, and ANTISAN excels in this regard. Her highly professional crew has been together for many years and is entirely dedicated to every charter they perform. Captain Andrea Bianchi, originally from Italy, has been based on the Côte d’Azur for over 30 years, and his knowledge of all popular Mediterranean cruising grounds is unmatched. The volume of repeat clients returning to the ANTISAN yacht year after year is testament to Captain Andrea and his crew’s dedication to ensuring exceptional charters every time. Motor yacht ANTISAN is always kept in perfect condition with regular upgrades. Over the winter of 2022/2023, the yacht underwent a mini-refit with lots of interior enhancements, new furniture on the flybridge, a new forward seating area, and new jet skis and toys.

frette columbus yachts debut at the cannes yachting festival 2024

The new yachts you can’t miss at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024

Running from 10 to 15 September, the Cannes Yachting Festival consistently delivers one of the finest displays of yachts in the world. The lineup also tends to include several world-class premieres from shipyards eager to present their latest designs across Port Vieux and Port Canto. BOAT takes a closer look at some of the hottest debuts of 2024...

Builder : Tankoa Yachts Length : 45m

The largest debut so far, Go is the first unit in Tankoa's T450 series and was handed over to her "young" North American owner in July 2024. Several customisations were requested for the model, including larger windows on the main deck and a longer upper deck saloon. These alterations increased the interior volume from 435GT to 450GT. Other highlights include a hydromassage tub on the sundeck, an upper deck gym and firepit and a sliding sunpad that closes the swimming pool during navigation. Exterior design is by Giorgio M. Cassetta .

Builder : Cantiere delle Marche Length : 44.3m

Sold to an experienced German owner, Maverick is the inaugural vessel among a trio of Flexplorer 146 yachts. She has been described as a "true explorer vessel", featuring a robust exterior by Hydro Tec , a custom-built A-frame crane and a 22-millimetre ice-belt above and below the waterline to ensure safe navigation at the highest latitudes. On the leisure side, a large infinity pool is included on the aft deck, which can be covered and used as storage for deck furniture when underway. Other features include a gym, a sauna and a diving centre.

Builder : Ocean King Length : 40.4m

This unit has been pledged to an "esteemed" Italian owner and was last seen publicly ahead of her sea trials . Her rugged, explorer-style exterior is by Design ALot Studio, while naval architecture is owed to inNave . All social spaces are well connected, including a formal dining room on the upper deck which leads into the sun deck with its bar and swimming pool. Meanwhile, a large beach club with two fold-out balconies will allow guests easy access to the sea. Accommodation is for 10 guests, including a master cabin forward on the main deck arranged with an en suite bathroom and private study.

Builder: AB Yachts Length: 39m

With a beam of 7.5 metres, the AB125's sporty profile belies an impressive internal volume which the Italians shipyard claims will be “even more generous” than its 220GT predecessor, the AB120. Key to this unit's design is convertible on board space. The sliding doors of the salon, once open, connect the interiors and exteriors and integrate the salon, aft cockpit and beach area into one 140-square-metre area. Like her predecessor, she will be able to reach an eye-watering top speed of 40 knots and navigate incredibly shallow ports and anchorages, as seen in the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

Builder : Custom Line Length : 38.8m

Telli was launched in February 2024 as the first unit in the Navetta 38 series. The new model was created from a desire to temper the nautical tradition of the Navetta series with a young, sporty style, according to design studio Citterio Viel . There is also a focus on indoor-outdoor connection seen best in the 70-square-metre beach area and the glazing that circles the sundeck, which measures an impressive 15 metres long. Accommodation is split across five cabins, including a main deck owner's cabin of over 40 square metres.

Builder : Pendennis Length : 34.9m

This highly-anticipated compact explorer yacht was delivered from Pendennis ' yard in Falmouth this May. Her name, Fox , is owed to Falmouth's famous inventor Robert Were Fox the Younger, a 19th-century scientist who invented a special type of compass which ultimately allowed exploration (and the discovery of) the South Pole. The newly built explorer yacht 's interior and exterior styling is by Q London, with highlights including a 103.5-square-metre open aft deck, as well as a DJ station, a glass-walled sky lounge and a dedicated wine fridge. Accommodation encompasses a full-beam main deck master cabin and a further four en suite cabins.

Builder : Van der Valk Length : 34.1m

One was commissioned by experienced owners who have spent more than three decades on the water. Their brief was to "blend their own design with a proven hull form" and they initially wanted a larger yacht, but a compromise was reached to hit "Van der Valk’s sweet spot for a slightly smaller size". Her functional exterior is owed to Guido de Groot , while the interior is the work of Carla Guilhem . With its skylounge, main deck saloon and multifunctional beach club-cum-sports-garage, the configuration revolves around entertaining large groups of people. Accommodation is across five staterooms, including a full-beam master on the main deck.

Builder : AB Yachts Length : 33.5m

Characterised by a sporty exterior and eye-watering maximum speed of 45 knots, this model is the first in a new range designed entirely by Archea Associati . According to the shipyard, the AB110 remains unchanged from previous models in terms of performances, noiselessness and the absence of any vibration while further increasing on board liveability and comfort. Imagery is undisclosed but her interiors have been described as loft-like, "charming" and defined by an "all-pervading brightness" as a result of generous glazing on the main deck.

Builder : Numarine Length : 30.7m

The first hull in Turkish yard Numarine 's 30XP series will make her world debut at Cannes. The first Numarine yacht to be fitted with hybrid propulsion, Minella has been designed inside and out by Can Yalman , although an alternative version of the interiors has been created in collaboration with Istanbul-based Ofist Design Studio. The design philosophy is "inspired by a sustainable, Scandinavian design aesthetic". Accommodation is for up to 10 guests across five en suite cabins, comprising four guest cabins on the lower deck and a master cabin on the main deck forward.

DreamCatcher

Builder : Nautor Swan Length : 28.3m

First revealed in 2021 at a virtual press conference, DreamCatcher was delivered to her owner in July this year. She is the Finnish shipyard's first hybrid sailing yacht with "feminine exterior lines" penned by veteran Swan designer German Frers . Described as a "no-compromise cruiser with a racer soul", she has a draught of four metres, with options for a shallow-draught, telescopic and performance keel. Her warm, classic interiors are the work of Misa Poggi , with accommodation for 10 guests, comprising an owner’s cabin located forward and four guest en suite cabins.

Builder : Wider Yachts Length : 28m

Italian shipyard Wider Yachts ' first multihull offering, Acali , was designed in collaboration with Luca Dini and built to RINA class. Offering large interior volumes, highlights come in the form of a dedicated owner's deck, an expansive beach club and a hybrid propulsion system. The owner's suite has a private foredeck lounge, while the tender garage can transform into a spacious swim platform. The 67-square-metre beach club benefits from fold-down bulwarks, direct access to the VIP cabin and discreet water toy storage. Accommodation on the 28-metre composite catamaran is for eight guests across four cabins with further provision for a crew of four.

Builder : Sanlorenzo Length : 27.9m

This sporty model is the second in the Italian shipyard’s new smart performance (SP) line, following in the footsteps of the 33-metre SP110 which BOAT International visited last year . Initial renderings reveal a split-level saloon, floor-to-ceiling glazing and a spacious owner's suite arranged with a separate lounge and glass wardrobe. Accommodation is for up to eight guests and four crew, while other key numbers include 7.1-metre beam, a draught of 1.2 metres and a maximum speed of 40 knots.

Builder : Otam Length : 27.8m

As the flagship of the yard’s Fast and Iconic series, Sexy Me is said to have a "big-boat mentality" in spite of its compact footprint and loadline measuring under 24 metres. In close collaboration with Otam, Giuseppe Bagnardi of BG Design Firm is responsible for exterior styling, resulting in custom details including a helm console inspired by the world of F1 racing cars. The Otam 90 GTS series is fully customisable at the engineering level and Sexy Me is the semi-open version, devised to accommodate a large number of guests on board with a full-beam master suite, VIP cabin and guest cabin.

Builder : Pearl Yachts Length : 25.3m

The first unit in the Pearl 82 series will also be making her world premiere in Cannes this year. The model sits between the shipyard's Pearl 95 and Pearl 72 offerings and features a raised pilothouse design with two aft deck configurations and a semi-walkaround deck with a forward master suite and private forepeak terrace. The company claims this model is the only yacht in its class to offer this type of configuration, and Pearl Yachts managing director, Iain Smallridge, called the 82 "the most compact superyacht on the market." Naval architecture and exterior design is owed to Dixon Yacht Design .

Riva 82 Diva

Builder : Riva Length : 25m

The Riva 82 Diva technically debuted at a private preview event last year, but the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival is the first time the new flybridge model will be available to the public. According to the Italian shipyard, the yacht aims to "open a new chapter" for the Sarnico-based builder and offers a "revolutionary approach to the use of space" by maximising outdoor areas and ensuring indoor spaces are thoughtfully designed according to their function. For example, the beach club features a Riva first in the use of fold-down bulwarks which expand the yacht's six-metre beam by an additional three metres. A sunpad stretching over 2.5 metres adds to the set-up.

Builder : Pershing Length : 23.9m

Designed by Rome-based studio Vallicelli Yacht Design , the GTX80 is characterised by open spaces and "maximum onboard livability". In a first for a Pershing model, the stern can be converted into lateral terraces to promote direct contact with the sea. Other innovative developments include an optional carbon-fabric hardtop for the sundeck and the layout of the open galley-bar, which is fully integrated into the lounge setting and opens out onto the cockpit to create a "main hub". Accommodation is across four cabins, plus a cabin for two crew.

INFYNITO 80

Builder : Ferretti Yachts Length : 23.7m

The INFYNITO 80 builds on the "environmental friendliness, unprecedented flexibility and innovative layout" of its slightly larger sister, the INFYNITO 90 . This includes the return of the popular all-season terrace, sheltered by an extension to the superstructure for "total privacy and protection in all weather conditions". However, the new model does herald several major changes, including the upper deck which was closed on the INFYNITO 90 but "totally open" on this unit. The INFYNITO 80 also has sustainability in mind with outfitting in lamellar teak, regenerated leather and other recyclable interiors. Exterior design is by Filippo Salvetti with interiors owed to IdeaeITALIA .

Famous Sportfishing Boat Owned By Jimmy Buffett Listed For Sale

jimmy buffet sportfishing boat last mango for sale

Once known as " LAST MANGO II " and owned by Jimmy Buffett, this classic 42-foot Rybovich Spencer is now listed for sale in Montauk , New York with SI Yachts broker Steve Messenger. No longer donning the name bestowed upon it by the famous Margaritaville singer, this sportfishing yacht built in 2003 has been called " BLUE EYES II " since the current owner purchased it from Buffett.

"The owner of the boat was personal friends with Jimmy and bought it from him directly," said Steve . "It was custom built for Jimmy Buffett by Rybovich Spencer and when it was completed, he had the shipyard completely destroy the mold, so it could never again be copied."

Buffett made countless trips throughout the Florida Keys, Bahamas, and up to the Hudson Canyon fishing with friends, putting nearly 5,000 hours on the twin 670-hp Cummins QSM11 diesel inboards. The engines have since been re-manufactured and the top end speed is now 35 knots, with a cruise speed of 24 knots. The asking price is listed at $999,000.

"This is the ultimate opportunity for Jimmy Buffett fans to own something that was a big part of him and his life," continued Steve. "Everyone knows about his love for the ocean, boating, fishing, and the whole lifestyle through his music. I can't imagine how awesome the feeling would be to crank up 'Volcano', with a cold drink in my hand, slow trolling in the Bahamas!"

Book Report Templates

30 book report templates & reading worksheets.

Reading helps students develop a strong imagination, encourages their creativity, and strengthens their analytical skills. Teachers assign a lot of book reports to ensure that students read lots of books, especially at that critical early age when they are still trying to master the written word. To cut down on some of the workload, students and teachers can find a book report template to download and fill in. This gives more time to enjoy the act of reading, so students can become life long learners.

What Is A Book Report

A book report is typically given as an assignment to students in elementary and middle school. Students fill out a form answering basic questions about the book they were assigned to read. Turning in the report serves as proof to the teacher that the student read the book and, hopefully, got something out of it.

These reports may ask students to detail what the book was about, the names of the main characters, what the theme of the book is, and where the events are set. Some reports may ask specific questions about events or characters to ensure that the students read the book all the way through. The report can also help students understand the book better by asking them to think about its meaning and the plot.

Reading Worksheets

Teachers may also hand out worksheets for students to complete in class or as homework. These are usually limited to the earlier grades when students are still learning to read. Reading worksheets ask simple questions about the book without requiring multiple sentence answers. These questions may ask students to name a favorite character, or mention the main conflict in a few words.

It’s not uncommon for the teacher to read a picture book with the class and have students fill out a worksheet afterwards. If the classroom has a bookshelf, there may also be a ‘Reading Time’ when students pick out a book to read. When they finish, the students fill out the worksheet and submit it to their teacher.

Why Provide A Book Report Form

Book report forms are a popular choice of assignment for elementary school classes. These forms make it simple for students to complete the report by filling out the worksheet. These sheets can be generic with standard questions, or teachers may create a unique sheet with questions specific to each different book that is assigned.

These forms also help introduce students to the idea of a book report format and show them what kind of information may be expected on longer, multi-page reports that they are expected to complete in the higher grades. A form is also easier to grade , especially for teachers who have a large classroom and more assignments to go over than usual.

Sections Of A Simple Book Report

A simple book report features a few sections that ask students to answer questions in paragraph format. These each ask students to detail a different element of the book. All book report forms will ask for the title, author name, and the illustrator’s name, if it is a picture book. The other elements on a simple form include:

  • Setting – This is where the book’s events took place, i.e. New York.
  • Characters – A list of who the main characters are and their names.
  • Plot – A basic overview of the major events in the book.
  • Your impressions – Whether you like the book or not, and why.

A simple form may also just ask the students to describe the beginning, middle, and end events of the book in three questions. Students may also be expected to identify the climax, which is the most intense point of the book where the main character’s problems are resolved or made worse. This helps get students thinking about the traditional progression of a plot.

Sections Of A Multi-Page Report

Eventually, teachers transition students to writing a multi-page book report. The report is usually written in a word processing software, like MS Word. Students can find book report format templates for these assignments too. These longer reports are written out in paragraph form. The teacher asks the students to address different elements of a book in their own words or with their own formatting. A simple way to organize these reports is to divide them into three basic sections, the introduction, main body, and conclusion. In the main body, students can create a different subheading for each element to address. For instance,

  • Introduction – The first paragraph; includes book title, author, genre, and why you chose the book.
  • Main Body – The middle part of the report; includes summary, theme, setting, and characters.
  • Conclusion – A short summary of the book report and opinion of the book.

Difference Between The Book Report Types

The short book report form is handed out by the teacher and can be completed in one night like a homework assignment. A multi-page report is created by the student and may take more than one night to finish.

Short templates are available in lots of fun book report ideas suitable for young children. They have questions with a few lines to hand write the answers in a few short sentences. Some templates may include activities to make them more interesting to students, such as having them draw out a scene from the book or re-write the ending.

Multi-page reports start out as two page reports and gradually increase in size through middle school and high school. Of course, those two page reports are just as difficult for young students as the five page reports are for high school students . The great thing about these assignments is that students are usually free to organize their book report ideas however they desire. They can create bold sub-headers for the main body of the report. Students can write about the theme, characters, and setting separately. Or they can leave out the headers and devote their report to a specific element, such as the book theme. This allows students to weave information about characters and setting into the report where they are most relevant to the theme. The former works well for short chapter books, and the latter is better for books that may feature multiple themes.

Ideas for Different Kinds of Book Reports

There is more than one way to complete a book report. Both teachers and students may find these creative ideas more interesting than a straightforward report.

Write a review of the book. Create the report in the form of a newspaper or blog review. Summarize the book without giving away the plot or the ending. Talk about what made you like it or, if you hated it. Feel free to give the book a thumbs up or down rating at the end.

Do a diary. Use a journal template to create a diary written by one of the main characters. There should be multiple entries that follow or discuss the events of the book from that character’s point of view.

Interview one of the characters. Create an imaginary interview with one of the characters in the book. Ask them questions about where they come from, why the character did something important to the plot, and what the character thinks about the outcome of the events in the book.

Write a newspaper article. Create an imaginary newspaper article detailing one of the major events in the book, such as a theft or an important discovery. Make sure to answer the who, what, where, when, and why of these events in your article.

What To Do Once You’ve Written The Report

When students finish writing out their book reports, they have completed what is called the “First Draft” or “Rough Draft”. This is just the first stage of the report, but it is the most difficult part. Finishing up that report in the following steps is a lot easier.

Read and mark the report. Read through the book report from beginning to end to get a feel for it overall. Get a brightly colored pen to mark any spelling or punctuation errors you find in the report. Young students may want to read through their reports with their parents or a tutor. Sometimes, teachers actually make students submit a rough draft of their reports for points before the final report is due. The teacher reviews the draft, makes edits, and suggestions for changing the report before final submission.

Make edits to the report. Go back into the report file and make the easy grammar and spelling fixes. Take a look at your teacher’s suggestions or the ideas you wrote down for things to change in the report. Create a plan to make those additions or changes. Make the changes to the report. Don’t forget to save your file as a separate document. For instance, save your rough draft as, Report1.doc, and this updated version as, Report2.doc.

Review the report. Print out a fresh copy of the report. Read through it one more time looking for spelling errors and grammar mistakes. Keep an eye out for spots where the text doesn’t make sense. This can sometimes happen when you add new content to a report. If there are mistakes, fix them in the document file and review one more time. Your final draft is ready to print out when you can no longer find any mistakes.

Tips for Teachers

Book reports are a big part of the curriculum. That doesn’t mean they have to be a lot of work for the students or the teacher. Make assigning these reports less of a hassle with these tips.

  • Assign one book for the entire class to read. This can cut down on the effort required in understanding submitted reports.
  • Pick out a short book report template to use. There is no need to use valuable time in creating one from scratch.
  • Print out more copies of the form than are needed. Some students may lose theirs and need an extra form.
  • Make reminder announcements when a due date approaches. Remind students at least twice before a book report due date.
  • Keep the word count requirement low. Teachers also have to spend more time reviewing longer reports.
  • Consider creative alternatives to some written reports. When your curriculum includes a lot of book reports, give students the option of turning in a drawing, diorama, or another project as a break.

Tips for Students

Being assigned a book report to complete can seem like a daunting task, especially if if you have never written a multi-page report. Make sure you don’t fall behind on the work by following a few of these tips.

  • Make up a reading schedule to complete the book well in advance of the report being due. Use a calendar to remind yourself.
  • Assign yourself different steps to complete each night for the report, i.e. make an outline, write 200 words, or revising
  • Ask the teacher for help with ideas if you can’t figure out how to get started.
  • Look for examples of completed reports to see how they are structured.

Book reports vary in their length and complexity. Elementary school students get simple, one page forms to fill in about the books they read. Those in middle school and high school usually have to write multiple page reports. Nearly all reports require students to talk about the plot, theme, characters, and how they liked the book. Both students and teachers can find a lot of templates to use. Those looking for something generic for students to fill in after reading a book can pick up a .pdf or .jpg form. Those who want more control over the look and wording of the template should download a .doc file.

22 Printable Book Report Templates (Worksheets) – Word | PDF

Writing a book report is something that many of us have been tasked with before, particularly as students. A book review works as a succinct summary of the story of a book, and its characters, its plot, its core themes, message, and much more, and is a convenient yet effective way in which readers may convey what they took away from a particular piece of literature. Additionally, it allows readers to be critical of the works they read, giving it an added degree of depth and importance.

Writing a book report is an important part of academia, and also has a ton of application within the professional world. For these reasons, we’re going to take you through a comprehensive guide with which you can easily write a book report on just about any literary work.

What is a Book Report?

As the name suggests, a book report is pretty much that – a report on the experience a reader had with a particular piece of literature. Most often, a book report contains basic details on the book and author – information on the author’s upbringing, inspiration, education, and professional background are all very relevant to a book report. Generally, a solid and comprehensive book report contains the following elements:

  • A succinct and brief summary of the plot or the core philosophies that are outlined in the book.
  • A personal, individual analysis of the various themes and topics covered in the book.
  • A personal and deep analysis of the numerous characters and/or personalities explored in the book.
  • Background information that went into the publication of the book, such as information about the author, historical context, political movements, and the like.
  • A final statement on why the writer of the report found the book interesting or uninteresting, complete with critical viewpoints backed up by excerpts from the book.

These elements are necessary for writing a comprehensive book report. In the next section, we’ll guide you through the process of writing the book report.

How Do I Write a Book Report?

Before you get started on the book report itself, it is a good idea to compile all your thoughts on the book into a brief set of notes that you can easily refer to. Additionally, you can list any ideas and/or critical viewpoints you may have, allowing you to easily reference different sections of the book in the report.

Once you have your summary and your notes on hand, you can get started with writing the book report. Follow these tips and format in the specified order to write an effective book report;

  • Introduction – The introductory paragraph should declare the name of the author, date and year of publication, publisher, country of publication, and any other relevant historical information. Typically, this includes a small background on the author, the historical context of the time it was written, and the situation of the country in which the book was written. Once that’s done, you’re ready to move onto the next section.
  • Next, you should present an overarching summary of the book. For fictional works, this means that you should write down an in-depth synopsis of the story, whereas non-fiction works generally merit a break down of the theories, philosophies, accounts, and general themes explored in the book.
  • The next section accounts for the report writer’s personal opinions and experience with the book – In this section, you should outline what you thought about the book and why. Then why is particularly important in writing an effective book report – Your opinions, claims, criticism, and praises should all be backed by references taken from the book, such as excerpts or quotations. Tie this into the historical background of the author and the work itself to write an even more effective book report.
  • Bibliography – While this may not particularly hold true for all fiction works, it is very common when dealing with non-fiction works. Often, multiple sources are cited in non-fiction works, which may encourage the reader to do some literary exploration and delve into other authors. When this happens, some of these discoveries are bound to tie into the book review. When these sources are used, make sure to cite them categorically and add a bibliography page.

These are the steps you need to follow to write an effective book review. Once you’ve finished writing it, make sure to do a thorough proofread, while also checking for logical follow from start to finish.

This infographic is about the must have sections while writing a book report.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the format of a book report.

Typically, a book report is formatted academically. This includes an introduction, a summary of the work itself, the author of the report’s opinions, findings, criticisms, and praises, and finally, a review and summary of the author’s arguments. It is typically formatted with a 1 or 2-pt margin, with double-spaced fonts like Times New Roman or Arial.

How do you write a book report?

A book report is a comprehensive summary of both the book itself, as well as the reader’s thoughts, opinions, and experience reading the book. As a result, it should contain information on the book itself, including the background of the author, a summary of the key aspects of the book, and well-reasoned, logically sound arguments made by the writer of the report. Check out our guide to find a step-by-step guide to writing a book report.

How many pages should a book report be?

Most commonly, a book report falls between 800-1,000 words. If the font is Times New Roman, 1-pt margins, and double-spaced, which is the academic standard, this comes up to a page count of 3-4 pages.

book report worksheet

Book reports often ask students to summarize, reflect, and share their ideas. We’ve created a series of book report templates that you can use or adapt based on a variety of learning needs. While this task may reflect individual preferences and insights, it can be collaborative. Students can share in gallery walks, small groups, or large groups. Displaying book reports near your classroom library can allow you to curate a more meaningful classroom book collection and allow peers to interact in an unexpected way. Some of the earliest work with longer writing tasks is cultivated through the experience of crafting a book report. No matter how young your learners may be, fostering a love of reading and providing opportunities for children to write about what they read is critical.

Book Report Templates (Printable PDFs)

One of the most important steps of helping students understand how to craft a book report lies in their ability to choose the books they read and how they want to report on what they’ve learned. It is always useful to review book report options together in class in order to create a firm foundation that students can return to again and again. Since book reports can be a staple task in many elementary school classrooms, offering choice in how students craft and create reports will make the experience more engaging.

We’ve created a variety of printable book report templates below for different learners. For instance, we have an English language and Spanish language book report template that students can use to document character names, setting, and reflect on their favorite parts of a text! Additionally, we’ve crafted book report organizers for fiction and nonfiction texts, so you can appeal to learners who love different genres and make your curriculum more inclusive. Finally, we’ve also created a few options for those students who need more challenge. In these book reports, students extract quotes of significance, analyze them, and offer their insights on what the text teaches readers.

All of our book report templates encourage students to reflect on their interest in the text. This is critical for their reflection and ability to connect with their reading experiences.

Book Report Worksheets

Book reports have been around for just about ever. They are a literary way of summarizing and evaluating a work of fiction or nonfiction. Teachers have used these for years to gauge an understanding as to whether or not students have read; as well as if they understood the book that they were assigned or chose on their own. They explore the main idea, conflict, and arguments that are raised by the author. This are often used to gauge the work for a potential audience. The worksheets that you will see below will help you focus your thoughts or bring to closer the summation of a book report. These are done frequently in most middle school English classes. The typical length that is expected usually ranges anywhere from 200 to 600 words.

Fiction Book Report - A two-page worksheet to help you sum up all your thoughts on a work of fiction.

All Boxed Up - These are great to do in class with kids. We explore all the main aspects of a body of work.

Write a Book Review - Your standard boiler plate format that all teachers assign. Many readers decide what books to buy and read based on book reviews.

Names To Remember - Who were the characters that made the story move? Examine all the key pivots in the work.

Who's That? Report - Time to look deep into the thoughts of the characters of the story.

Standard Book Report - If you had to choose a slightly different format than the standard boiler plate, this is your guy.

Fictional Book Roundup - I really like this one. It helps you adjust to the flow of the story. It makes the work look like a moving part.

Sum It Up - If you could tell everyone all about the work in 3 sentences, this will help you get there.

What's Up With It? - This helps you identify key moments and movements in the story. Can you sum up the work in one sentence?

Book Report Package - This diagrams for you how to do a full on in-depth book story. On the last page, draw conclusions and express an opinion about the book.

Plot - What are the events and sequences that truly sum up the story? We focus on how it starts and leads to a conclusion.

Setting - Where does in take place? How does that contribute to develop the theme?

Characters - Who are the main and supporting characters of the story? We examine their level of importance to the story.

Theme - Most students often get this confused with plot. We look at the relationships that are formed.

Your Opinion - Did the story move you? This one gives you the floor to speak your mind.

About This Book - Identify the internal and external conflicts of the characters. A nice way to look at the root causes for the story.

Book Report Organizer - Yes, a graphic organizer with purpose. Use the organizer below to jot notes about the different things you will need to include in your body of work.

Beginning - Middle - End - This is like an outline of story of events. We stream out the main portions of the work.

My Book Report - Not YOURS, MY Report! Craft one very fantastic sentence that says it all.

Super Story Report - If you enjoyed the story, convey it with this worksheet. A nice way to highlight all the main people and points.

How Do You Write A Book Report?

There are several steps that are fundamental to preparing a solid report on any work. Always remember to take notes as you are reading the work. Pay special attention to all of the characters and their actions. Make note of the setting of the work and any key events or confrontations with in the scene itself. Always look for symbols that are often used in works of fiction. I always try to identify several aspects of any work. My focus is always on assessing the conflict and the outcome and also note which characters are on which side of the conflict. If you can find any direct quotes, from the work, that provide some evidence of these, it gets easier.

After you have all your notes set, begin actually piecing your book report together. Start by writing a solid introduction paragraph. You should be sure to include any relevant information (title, author, date) that would help the reader locate the book at the library or at a store.

In the body paragraph you should start by providing a three set summation. I like to review the beginning, middle (conflict identification), and ending (conflict resolution). I usually end off the body of my book reports by talking about the morale (if any) the author was trying to get through to his/her readers.

In the final statement (conclusion) I always provide my opinion of the work. Was it worth the time you spent reading it. One thing to remember, for sure, is that you are never obligated to recommend a book. Like all forms of art, some things click for some people and not others. Teachers appreciate your honest opinion, as long as you can support your argument.

What is the difference between a report and a review? You can often get away with writing a review without the complete work in hand. This often leads to a review missing some aspect of the work that the writer was attempting to portray. This why I see a review as loose held account of the work. They often miss themes and definitely miss a ton of contextual information. They can be helpful for understanding the genre of a work and find commonalities to other works. You will never get the true essence of a work through a review. They often include the opinions and biases of the reviewer. If you are reviewing an activity that you do not enjoy, your review will reflect that opinion.

Growing up going to school, I always remember the dreaded book report days. They always stressed me out so much. I would rush to scramble to finish the book, which is never one I was ever interested in reading in the first place. Then I would have to sit down and grudgingly write a report about it. Now that I am a teacher myself, I truly see the value in book reports. I think adding book reports to your homeschool reading curriculum is a great way to help with reading comprehension, writing and even public speaking skills.

FREE Book Report Worksheets and Printables

If something isn’t included in our curriculum, I always have a hard time remembering to add it to what we are learning. Book Reports are one of those things, that probably get forgotten in homeschool, yet they are still important. We are thankful that we homeschool and aren’t required to force our children to read certain books. If you have a child that struggles with enjoying reading, it would be a good idea to let them choose a book on a topic that is of interest to them. This will make the task a little easier, and they may be excited to share about a book they love.

There are so many ways that you can add book reports to your homeschool. You can schedule them out in a planner to be done once a month, or once a quarter. You could have a family book report challenge, where each child does a book report and reports it to the family. It would be fun to do a book report day in a homeschool group or co-op as well.

If you have been wanting to incorporate book reports into your homeschool, you are going to love all these book report worksheets and printables we have gathered up for you!

Completed Worksheet Example - Book Report Planner

It is a written summary and analysis of a book's content, intended to provide an overview of its key elements, themes, characters, and plot. It is often used as an educational tool to assess a reader's understanding of a book and their ability to critically analyze its various aspects. They can vary in structure and complexity depending on the grade level and educational objectives.

What are Book Report Planning Worksheets?

They are effective tools that teachers assign to students to organize ideas before beginning a larger, more in-depth report. This simple form is meant to highlight the main idea, plot, setting, and main characters of a book, while also showing that students understand what they read, and that they are able to present information about the pages they've read. Planning an outline ahead of time with a Storyboard That template is an essential step towards an incredible and unique project. This planning can be done in class or as homework in note form.

Why are they Important and How are they Best Used?

They are important because they help students create a plan before executing a large project. Students are able to take what they know from the book, and write it all down in one place. They are also able to decide what they want to include, or not include, in their reports by having all of the information laid out in front of them.

In the world of education, fostering reading comprehension and critical thinking skills is a vital mission. These worksheets provide a structured framework that guides the class through a journey of analyzing, understanding, and reflecting on the books they read.

Types of Projects

  • The Traditional Report: The traditional approach involves key elements such as the title and author, summarizing the plot, character analysis, setting description, and personal opinions. These worksheets serve as book report forms that students can use to structure a specific idea, as well as their thoughts and insights. Kids are prompted to identify the main ideas, describe the book's aspects, and offer their opinions on their favorite parts.
  • Character Analysis: Delving into characters is a fantastic way to enhance reading comprehension. Students can identify character traits, motivations, and changes throughout the story. By using a book report template for kids, teachers guide elementary-age children to critically think about the characters' development and role in the narrative.
  • Setting Exploration: Settings often play a significant role in shaping the story's atmosphere and events. Our worksheets offer a structured platform for students to identify and describe the settings, as well as analyze how they impact the plot and characters. This free printable tool engages middle school students and elementary age kids in a deeper understanding of the story's context.
  • Comparative Analysis: Comparing and contrasting two books with similar themes or genres is an enriching exercise. Students can analyze characters, plots, themes, and writing styles side by side. This activity encourages critical thinking as students identify similarities and differences between the two works, honing their ability to critically assess literature.
  • Book-to-Movie Comparison: In an age where many books find themselves on the silver screen, comparing a book to its movie adaptation can be captivating. With our worksheets, students can highlight the differences and evaluate how successfully the adaptation captures the essence of the novel. This engaging activity invites children to express their opinion on how well the story transitioned from page to screen.
  • Critical Book Review: Encouraging critical thinking is a cornerstone of education. Our handouts can be transformed into platforms for students to review what they've read with a discerning eye. By using a book report generator, students can evaluate plot development, character depth, and writing style, strengthening their analytical skills.
  • Alternate Conclusion, Ending, or Sequel: Nurturing creativity is equally important. Our templates can serve as springboards for students to imagine alternate endings or sequels to the book. By completing a book report planning form, grade school children create new narrative possibilities, fostering their imaginative thinking.
  • Letter to the Author: What better way to engage students than allowing them to interact with the author? Worksheets can include sections for students to write letters to authors, sharing their thoughts, questions, and reactions. This activity bridges the gap between the author's creation and the student's interpretation.
  • Book Advertisement: These worksheets can take the form of designing advertisements or promotional posters for the book. By focusing on key aspects, students not only comprehend the book but also learn to present their understanding in a visually appealing manner.
  • Timeline of Events: Understanding the chronological sequence of events is crucial in comprehending stories. Templates can be adapted to create timelines of important events from the book. Students fill in the report form with short summaries of events, identifying their significance, and arranging them chronologically.

Tips for Making a Template

  • Understand the Purpose: Begin by understanding the purpose. It's a tool designed to guide students through the process of analyzing and summarizing a book's content.
  • Identify Your Audience: Determine whether the worksheet is intended for elementary-grade students or middle-school students.
  • Choose a Format: Decide on the format of your worksheet. You can use a no prep printable book report template, or create a custom design.
  • Incorporate Structured Sections: Include sections for various aspects of the book such as a short summary, character analysis, and personal reflections.
  • Utilize Free Resources: Search for free book report templates online to gather ideas and inspiration for your worksheet's layout and content.
  • Consider Grade-Level Appropriate Language: Tailor the language used in the worksheet to suit the reading comprehension level of the students for whom it's intended.
  • Add Visual Elements: Enhance engagement by incorporating visuals, like images or icons, to make the worksheet visually appealing.
  • Provide Prompts for Analysis: Offer prompts and questions that encourage critical thinking. Include questions like "What is a book report?" and "What are some ideas to make your project unique?"
  • Offer Space for Personalization: Include sections that allow students to share their personal opinions, a favorite part of the book, and creative insights.
  • Include Organizational Tools: Utilize a book report maker or book report generator to create a professional-looking worksheet. A book report graphic organizer can also help students structure their thoughts effectively in their own words.

By incorporating elements like templates, book report planning forms for grade school, and relevant book report examples, you can design a worksheet that guides students through a comprehensive exploration of the book's content while fostering their creativity and critical thinking skills.

7 Printable Book Reports

7 Printable Book Reports

There are numerous ways to present a book report. Over the years, my kids have created bookmobiles, book posters, and even a book shoe box. Yes, there is such a thing. Book reports encourage reading comprehension, the skill of summarizing, sequencing, and even reflection. However, sometimes we don’t want a book report to become a week-long project. That’s where printable book reports become beneficial. There are 7 FREE Printable Book Reports below! Take a look at which one would work for you and yours!

Why Printable Book Reports

7 printable book reports

For starters, Printable Book Reports are flexible. They can be used once a year, month, quarter, or for every book your student reads. For us, we use them multiple times in a year. Printable Book Reports are also versatile and easily accessible. There are 7 different versions of our Printable Book Reports to choose from. Some versions are more appropriate for younger students while others are geared toward an older student. My 4th grader chooses a different one than my 6th grader, but both book reports offer the same benefits.

How to use Printable Book Reports

7 Printable Book Reports

Any time you add an activity to your homeschool, make sure it is worth your time and your student’s effort. For us, these book reports allow my student the opportunity to summarize and work on their writing skills. Specifically, my kids practice developing concise sentences, editing, sequencing, and writing with a flow.  That can be difficult for even experienced writers.

7 Printable Book Reports

Before assigning your student the book report, engage in open dialogue with your child about the book. Ask them questions about their book. Get them talking about the characters, plot, setting, and dynamics of the story. This alone will assist your budding writer greatly. It is almost like verbal brainstorming. Once you have gotten a grasp on your student’s take of the book, assign them one of the 7 book reports.

7 printable book reports

From my experience, print two copies of the book report. The first copy will be their rough draft. After they complete it, address any grammar or sentence structure errors. This is also the appropriate time for them to clarify details or add sentences to connect ideas. Once this has been done, your student is ready to write their final draft. For those of you looking to expand this into a full book report project, encourage your student to illustrate a book cover on a separate sheet of paper. Then, have your student attach the illustration and written book report onto a small poster board side-by-side. It makes an impressive display!

So, no matter what book report template you choose, these can be a valuable language arts teaching tool!

Another reading comprehension option for younger students.

4-Square Graphic Organizers

Your student may not be ready for the Printable Book Reports above. However, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t an appropriate teaching tool to use after they have finished reading a book. We use a very simple 4-square graphic organizer for our younger students when wanting to work on reading comprehension. It is something that you can work on together and can be used for a mere storybook rather than a novel. Check out our 4-Square Graphic Organizers here.

When your kids finish a book, do you talk about what they read? We're trying to get better at following up with reading comprehension and using this free printable book report sheet is definitely helping!

Make sure the kids are understanding what they read with our FREE Book Report worksheet.

These are great for readers in 2nd-4th grade because it's simple and to the point.

This book report form works great for our younger kids and those that may not love writing because they have limited space. It does not seem overwhelming and it's just one sheet.

The book report sheet includes space to record the book's title and author, a summary, a favorite character, a lesson learned, and a rating.

We wanted to create a book report form that could be used with all books and not created with a certain theme in mind.

Some of our favorites right now include the Junie B. Jones series and the Who Was series .

TRY KINDLE UNLIMITED AND GET YOUR FIRST MONTH FREE.

You can save these in a folder or use a 3-hole punch and put them in a binder to create a booklet of all the books your child has read this year. It's a great way to help you and your child keep track of what they read and what their favorite books were.

Want to make it an art activity? Go for it! Kids can draw and color their favorite scene from the book on the back of their book report sheet.

We want to stress to our children our love of reading and show how important that is and create those daily habits. If you're a book lover, I'm sure you can agree with how special it is to revisit our favorite stories and characters from each book we read.

Whether you're homeschooling or just looking to create a reading log at home, this book report form is a great way to connect with your child over their reading.

These do not have to be books that your child reads independently. If you're reading books aloud to your child (which I highly recommend no matter how old they are), use this book report form for those too!
