ABOUT BRIX MARINE
has earned a solid reputation for pioneering and crafting the world’s most rugged aluminum catamarans and workboats since 1991.
The company was founded in Canada and moved to Port Angeles, WA in 2001. We gained new ownership under Bryton Marine Group in 2017, which fortified the company’s focus on our Core Values and strategic plan for our future.
“Our team has developed strong momentum with our boat portfolios and customers. As we look to the future, BRIX Marine will honor the legacy we have built and move beyond to deliver exceptional custom boats,” said Perry Knudson, Managing Director.
BRIX literally means the scientific measure of sweetness in liquid. This translates well to the high-performance boats the company is known for. “BRIX is more than a sweet riding hull,” said Knudson. “Our custom projects begin with the first communication and the relationship continues after the boat is delivered. BRIX is committed to an owner-centric approach.”
BRIX Marine has another important target. “We want to be the best place to work in our community,” said Knudson. BRIX employs master level craftsmen in the disciplines required to build welded aluminum boats. The company invests in defining career paths and training employees to gain the skills needed to advance in their fields.
The BRIX team will broaden and diversify its portfolio of welded aluminum boats, known as being “first in cats.” The newly redefined custom recreational portfolio is in high demand, and BRIX Marine is bringing this same innovative approach to other key markets.
“Our luxury water taxi designs are raising the standards for passenger vessels as seen with the recent launch for Liberty National Golf Club. The research vessel Bob & Betty Beyster we delivered in 2019 earned a Workboat Magazine award as a Significant Boat of the Year. That design is reshaping our research vessel line-up,” commented Perry Knudson. “We have a lot of exciting things on the horizon. This new identity represents who we are and where we’re going.”

What is an aluminium sailing boat?
As the name suggests an aluminium sailing boat is one constructed from aluminium (also know as aluminum in the United States). Aluminium is a stronger metal than the same weight of steel, so aluminium boats can be lighter in weight whilst still being strong, which is an advantage for sailing boats, especially those used for racing where lower weight equals more speed. There are a few disadvantages too though, for example, aluminium does corrode, and more so in saltwater, so aluminium boats need repainting every couple of years and you will need a sacrificial anode.

This vessel is hull #12 of only 16 they built. Constructed for the conditions of the North Sea and English Channel and ideally suited for the Pacific Northwest. Catfishers are now cruising world wide and are as admirably suitable for fast passages.

This vessel is hull #12 of only 16 they built. Constructed for the conditions of the North Sea and English Channel and ideally suited for the Pacific Northwest. Catfishers are now cruising world wide and are as admirably suitable for fast passages. They are well suited for extended living aboard or just messing about on the water. Deck Saloon: Comfortable seating for 8 persons with a table (that can be mounted in the very spacious cockpit) converts to a double berth. In addition you will find in the saloon, a steering position with instrumentation, a fridge/freezer and lots of shelves and storage. The starboard and port foreward cabins each have a double berth with a hanging locker, a seat and shelf type locker. Each forward cabin also has a foredeck hatch. The aft cabin to starboard sports a double quarter berth (no mattress) as well as lockers and shelves. Aft and to port the head facilities include a GRP module with WC, washbasin, shower with electric sump pump and locker as well as pressurized hot and cold water. There are four large draining lockers foreward, gas and general lockers aft and lots of storage portside of the cockpit. The cockpit is self-draining with helm, console and generous seating. Steps to swimming platform. There is also access to the insulated engine space.
The galley, to starboard offers a double burner propane stove with grill and oven, sink and worktop along with a ice box and Nova Kool refer. Pressurized hot and cold water and a microwave oven complete the package.

This Catfisher 32 is a British design, only seventeen of these were produced by the world-famous Blondecell of Lymington, UK. This vessel is one of those rare seventeen.
Built for the punishment of sailing the North Sea and the English Channel and ideally suited for the Pacific Northwest. Some of these boats have circumnavigated the globe and are ideal for fast passages. They make a great liveaboard or pleasure vessel.
Very few boats of this size have three separate cabins and a salon. Whether you want to relax in the harbor or travel the world, this is a great vessel to do it in.

History of Fisher
Established in 1945, Fisher, the British boat manufacturer is renowned for building boats that satisfy the desire for adventure and the allure of the sea. Based in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, in Northern England, Fisher emerged just after World War II at a time when the country was seeking new avenues of productive enterprise. The company began with the exclusive manufacture of small, modest boats, often wooden, suitable for local sailing and fishing, steadily earning a reputation for durability and reliability. Fisher's boats were known to be sea-friendly, practical and aesthetically complementary to old English sailing traditions.
In the 1970s, under the leadership of David Freeman, Fisher underwent a significant expansion. The company launched its now distinctive motor-sailor boats, revolutionising the industry and setting a new standard for seaworthiness and comfort. Freeman's designs, characterised by a deep-sea, rounded hull and a sturdy ketch rig, offered an unrivalled sailing experience. Through the years, Fisher has shifted its production base a few times.
