I am a life-long yachtsman who grew up boating on the lakes and coast of Maine and now reside with my wife and family in Marblehead, MA, where we boat on our Back Cove 37, Arete, out of the Corinthian Yacht Club.

An accomplished mariner, I hold a U.S.C.G 50 Ton Master's License and I am a former U.S. Sailing Certified Powerboat Instructor. I am an avid power boater and sailor, having raced in the Etchells, Rhodes 19, J-105, and International One Design fleets.

Ted grew up in Marblehead, MA, and found himself on the water from the day he was born. His father, Ted – a man of many talents, to say the least – routinely recruited Ted and his two brothers to race offshore at a very young age – creating certain maternal concerns, but providing a wonderful experience and opportunity for father/son “bonding.” Summer jobs while at school included sanding boat bottoms, sailmaking and apprentice draftsmanship. Ted also designed and built his own sailboard and ocean rowing shell, recalling how he once found Airex foam and fir strapping under the Christmas tree. This sparked a passion for furniture making and carpentry that he continues to enjoy today.

Following graduation from Brown University with an engineering degree, Ted began work at the Little Harbor design office as a draftsman for two years before moving on to marketing and business management responsibilities for the sale and construction of new Little Harbor yachts. After completing an MBA program in 1996, Ted decided on a career change of sorts by becoming a full-time yacht broker.

During the last twenty-four years, Ted has been involved in the sale of a wide variety of yachts, ranging in size from small express boats to several sailing yachts over 100′. He has also become involved in the conception and sale of several new construction projects with many reputable builders, including a 92’ and 108’ sailing yacht. Says Ted, “I thoroughly enjoy the direct contact I have with clients – listening to their needs, offering advice and following their adventures around the world. I personally feel that as a true “yacht consultant,” it is vital to preview boats for sale and to inspect potential builders whenever possible, requiring frequent travel throughout the U.S., Caribbean, Europe and New Zealand.”

His diverse sailing experience includes two trans-Atlantic races, numerous other offshore races in Europe and the U.S. and One-Design racing. He has also enjoyed countless cruises with family and friends throughout New England and the Caribbean and remains active racing today on large mega-yachts, cruiser/racers and one-designs (including Lasers during the winter in Newport). Ted is the Managing Director of Wellington Yacht Partners and lives in Newport, RI, with his wife Anne, while his two children are fully ensconced in their new careers. Other distractions for Ted include skiing, hiking, swimming, biking and carpentry.

Chris Hood, founder of C.W. Hood yachts, oversees all aspects of the business from new construction to restoration and design. A native of Marblehead and married with three children, Chris is a waterman from a very early age, he has is ABYC electrical certifications and is a sailor and power-boater.

Chris Stirling, friend since childhood to Chris Hood,  manages all new boat construction, refit, repair, and all other boatyard operations. He has his ABYC electrical certification, is a native of Marblehead and a lifelong sailor.

DAVID ROBISON

David Robison is our Naval Architect and Designer. David has worked for nearly 25 years with various yacht designers and boatbuilders throughout New England with a few years spent in Wisconsin.  As a lifelong sailor who grew up around the water, David brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to C.W. Hood. His passion for designing great boats compliments that of Chris Hood, making them a perfect design team.

When not racing his Laser or on his classic Bertram, with his family and dog, Gilligan, David is out enjoying winter on the slopes.

KIMBERLEE MCDONALD

Kimberlee is our office Administrator. She helps with different aspects of customer service and our logistics behind storage, and other projects. Kimberlee is a Notary Public and has been part of our team since 2007. ​

DESMOND BINGER

Mechanic - Desmond Binger started in 2001. He is in our new boat construction division and is a dedicated boat builder with a "can do" attitude. Originally from the Caribbean, he enjoys cooking, martial arts,  and coaching ​.

Marbleheader Nick Nowak is a talented mechanic and avid hydroplane racer. Nick lives in Marblehead with his family.

WILL PARKER

Will Parker - mechanic and Marblehead native, has a passion for the marine industry founded in a lifetime around boats. Graduate of the Landing School's marine systems program, Will studied small vessel operations at Maine Maritime and  ​holds a USCG 100 Ton Captain's License as well as being a certified Yanmar Mechanic and ABYC certified.

LOGAN HOOD  JACK McGRATH

Logan has 6+ years doing various jobs, from engine maintenance to fiberglass fabrication. He is studying at Mass Maritime as an engineer. Logan enjoys boating and working on classic cars. 

Jack is Logan's best friend. Growing up along the harbor and getting into mischief. Jack has a great "can do" attitude. He is a very competent worker and a "jack-of-all-trades" in the marine industry.

QUIN VAILLANCOURT

Quin is a lifelong friend of Chris and has been messing around boats since learning how to walk. Quin attended the Landing School in the 80's and is an accomplished boatbuilder. He built from scratch, a 28' L.F.H. which he frequently sails in Marblehead Harbor, spring through fall. He has two sons both in the marine industry as well.
