With all these options for getting out on the lake, you'll be coving out in no time.

There are lots of reasons to hire a captain . Bachelor and bachelorette parties love the freedom of having a driver as they have fun all day and night- with no stress about who will drive the boat. Chartered yachts are perfect for romantic getaways so you can focus on each other instead of trip logistics. Family reunions love the flexibility of hiring a captain so both adults and kids can take full advantage of their day in the sun. Even groups of friends like taking a shuttle boat from bar to bar so they can see more of the lake on their vacation. 1. Leisure Lake Charters

Leisure Lake Charters offers chartered boat rentals on one of their two boats. Choose from a 30 foot Rinker (for up to 10 people) that includes a fridge and rockin' stereo system, or a 40 foot Sea Ray (for up to 12 people) that cruises up and down the lake with ease. Either boat is perfect for your family or your party people. And with a seasoned captain at the helm, you know you'll be safe and stress-free the whole time.

2. Playin Hooky Water Taxi

Playin Hooky offers several different ways to get out on the water in a snap. For groups of 2 to 49, you can get a chartered boat to take you on the water in style. This option is great for couples, parties, and family reunions.

Daytime and Moonlight Bar Hop Cruises take you and your buddies to four bars in four hours on Friday and Saturday nights. It's the perfect way to see what different bars offer and check out the nightlife at each. Of course, there's a bar on the cruise as well, so you definitely won't go thirsty.

Playin Hooky's Aqua Shuttle charges a flat rate to be your water taxi all night. Choose from any of the waterfront bars on their list and go crazy.

3. Lake Ozark Water Taxi

Think of Lake Ozark Water Taxi as you would think of a regular taxi. They're happy to take you from waterfront location to waterfront location when you need them. No need to rent a boat or pay a captain for the day. Taxis are available anywhere from Bagnell Dam to the 14 MM. Just text them to schedule a ride. With payment options like major credit cards, Apple Pay and Android Pay, you won't be stuck looking for an ATM either.

The company also offers 4 hour charters if you want a dedicated captain or a larger travel area at your disposal. What a nice way to guarantee you can come and go to bars and restaurants as you please. Families, family reunions, bachelor and bachelorette parties all love this service!

Most of the taxis hold up to 13 people. Part of a big group? Lake Ozark Water Taxi is happy to send several taxis to your location so the whole group can travel at once. They're also dog friendly so you don't have to leave your best friend at the resort.

4. Mike Fink's Marina

At Mike Fink's Marina , you can choose any of their boats and then add on driver services. Head out on a party barge or a luxury tritoon. You can have your captain take you to an amazing fishing spot or a quiet cove to swim in the sun. They also offer parasailing if you're ready for a Lake of the Ozarks adventure!

5. Captain Bob's Boat Rental & Charter

Although you can easily rent  boats at Captain Bob's , their chartered boats come highly recommended. The Sea Ray Cruiser can pick you up at your resort and take you to the cove, restaurant, or bar of your choosing. Our off season would be before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.

• OFF SEASON HALF DAYS – Experience the Smithsonian for 4 hours (excluding holidays) starting from $1,200 plus fuel. 
• OFF SEASON FULL DAYS – Indulge in an 8 hour journey aboard the Smithsonian (excluding holidays) starting at $2,000 plus fuel.

Our regular season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

• REGULAR SEASON HALF DAYS – Experience the Smithsonian for 4 hours (excluding holidays) starting from $1,500 plus fuel. 
• REGULAR SEASON FULL DAYS – Indulge in an 8 hour journey aboard the Smithsonian (excluding holidays) starting at $3,000 plus fuel.

Please note that all booked charters are subject to an additional housekeeping charge for cleaning ($250) and 10% auto gratuity.

Fuel is calculated at the end of the charter. Your booking contract will also outline Captain selection requirements and onboard guest quantity allocations.

Take advantage of a 20% discount on charters scheduled from Monday through Thursday.

Military and service personnel are eligible for a 10% discount on their bookings!

Please be aware that these rates do not apply to holidays and do not cover fuel, the supplementary $250 housekeeping charge for cleaning, and a 10% auto gratuity.

All holidays, holiday weekends and special events (Boat Races, Aquapalooza, etc.) require an 8 hour charter. Holiday prices are a base rate of $2,900 plus a 30% surcharge.

While you’re welcome to bring your own beverages and food, we’ve also partnered with local provision companies Bleu Lemon (High-End Charcuterie Boards) and Wood’s Supermarket for full on-board provisioning!

Please mention your interest in adding on catering when you reach out, and we’ll share more details with you.

Beyond the numerous complimentary amenities we offer with each booking, we do offer some fun add-ons to enhance your onboard experience:

With 1150 miles of shoreline, this 54,000 acre lake in the middle of Missouri is one of the most popular boating hot spots in the world. At nearly 100 miles long and with an average depth of 130 feet, the lake is perfect for any type of boating, although the terrain around the lake can reduce the winds, and powerboats are the most popular type.

More than just a lake, the entire Lake of the Ozarks area is a vacation destination for boaters and landlubbers alike. However, the lake offers boaters an endless variety of beautiful beaches, natural coves, boat and home rentals, and water sports of every kind. 

What To Know

Although the weather at Lake of the Ozarks is generally mild year-round, it does cool down in the winter months. Winter lows can drop into the 40s, making Spring to Fall the best times to visit. Summer temps can reach 90 degrees or higher, making the summer weather perfect for spending a day on the water. Some of the most popular boats in the area include – 

Pontoon and deck boats are common options for general cruising and exploring, sunset cruises, snorkeling, wakeboarding, and exploring the coastline. Bass boats and small aluminum fishing boats are also very popular since the lake offers anglers some great opportunities. 

Unlike coastal destinations, boat sizes are generally limited to smaller cruisers and day boats, while ski boats, bowriders, and runabouts are also a common sight. The type of boat you choose for a day on Lake of the Ozarks really depends on the activities you have in mind. 

Safety Requirements:

The minimum age for operating any watercraft in the State Of Missouri is 14 years.

All persons born after January 1, 1984, must possess a Missouri boating safety ID card, along with a photo ID to operate a boat or PWC.

Life Jacket Requirements:  Children under the age of 7 years must WEAR a personal flotation Device (PDF) at all times unless confined in a fully enclosed area.

Weather Conditions

Located in the center of Missouri, the lake of the Ozarks area can get chilly in the winter months. Temperatures can occasionally drop down near 30 degrees, making it a little too cold for all but diehard boaters and anglers. 

Summer temps regularly reach into the 90s, although rain is more common from May to October. However, rainy days are outnumbered by sun, and humidity is generally low all summer long.

Cruise and Explore

With 1150 miles of shoreline, Lake of the Ozarks has no shortage of coves, beaches, and hideaways to explore as you cruise around the coast. The 93-mile-long waterway provides lots of places to stop and anchor up or get out and explore the area's incredible natural beauty. 

There are also restaurants, attractions, and opportunities to try almost any water sport you can imagine just by stopping in at the dock and seeing what’s available. Although most  of the activities near the shoreline are related to water sports, there are docks everywhere, and going from place to place by boat before walking a short distance to see something is completely possible 

Fish, ski, wakeboard, or just take a lazy cruise and explore the views along the coastline as you take in all of the natural beauty Lake of the Ozarks has to offer.

Visit Lake of the Ozarks State Park

For solitude and natural beauty, Lake of the Ozarks State Park is the perfect getaway from any parties, crowds, or traffic. Visitors can swim, fish, or cruise, or hit the beach and explore. The park has hiking trails, campgrounds, horseback riding, two public beaches, and 85 miles of shoreline. 

The park also offers boaters a unique attraction - the lake of the Ozarks Aquatic Trail. This interesting attraction offers boaters a booklet and a path to follow by boat, with stops at marked buoys along the way where boaters will find explanations of the significance of shoreline highlights. 

Whether you play on the water or explore the park on land, Lake of the Ozarks State Park has an incredible variety of activities to enjoy and natural resources to explore.

Fish in Lake of the Ozarks

Lake of the Ozarks holds an abundance of fish with species to catch, such as black bass, crappie, white bass, bluegill, muskellunge, and catfish. The lake offers anglers something to catch year-round since it rarely freezes over and consistently ranks in the top ten bass fishing lakes in the country. 

Lake of the Ozarks has also been the source of a variety of record fish, including a 66-pound catfish, a 41-pound muskie, and a 40-pound freshwater drum. The lake is regularly referred to as a fishing paradise, and it’s easy to see why. 

If you are new to fishing in the Lake of the Ozarks area, it might be a good idea to rent a boat with a captain or sign up for a fishing charter at least once to get the best possible experience. Both are also great ways to learn local fishing methods and possibly even some local hotspots or other secrets. 

Target species : Smallmouth bass, potted bass, black and white crappie, blue, channel, and flathead catfish, white bass, walleye, and bluegill.

Seasonality : Although there are fish to catch year-round, May through September are the most active months – and the most comfortable. The lake rarely freezes, so there is something to catch here year-round.

Boat selection : Anything you can fish from, but pontoons, runabouts, center consoles, aluminum fishing boats, and bass boats are popular.  

Where to Go Boating in Lake of the Ozarks

Cruise the Niangua Arm

Lake of the Ozarks is made up of several “arms” or offshoots from the main body of water. The Naingua Arm includes several natural attractions, including Bridal Cave and Ha Ha Tonka State Park. Located on the Niangua Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks, Ha Ha Tonka features caves, underground streams, and natural bridges.

Ha Ha Tonka also features the remains of an early 1900’s stone castle built as a private residence until it was leased for use as a hotel. When sparks from a fireplace set the rook on fire, the castle was gutted and has remained empty since. 

Also on the Niangua Arm, Bridal Cave is one of the most impressive scenic caverns in the country, with an incredible number of natural formations. Pull up to the dock and tour the cave, visitors center, rock shop, and much more. 

There is much more to see and do on the Niangua Arm of Lake of the Ozarks.

Wake Zone : Many marinas and near-shore waterways are marked as No Wake Zones throughout Lake of the Ozarks. Pay attention to signs and buoys and, above all else, be courteous to other boaters, swimmers, and the area wildlife. When in doubt, slow down. 

Hours : Although some of the state park visitor’s centers have operating hours, the lake is open at all hours. Boaters should observe nighttime speed limits throughout the lake.

Cruise the Grand Glaize Arm

Another of Lake of the Ozarks “arms,” the Grand Glaize arm is less developed than the rest of the lake and also home to the Lake of the Ozarks State Park and other natural areas. The Grand Glaize arm is a great place for tubing, skiing, and wakeboarding. Visitors will find sandy beaches, access to hiking trails, and the Ozark Cavers. 

Located at the west end of the Grand Glaize arm, the lake’s infamous Party Cove attracts a huge number of boaters who regularly raft up or anchor their boats and enjoy the sun and water. Whether you want to hang out with other boaters or keep to yourself and enjoy the natural surroundings, the Grand Glaize arm is a great place to spend the day.

Tips : Some of the less traveled sections of each arm can have shallow water areas, so it is important to pay attention to channel markers and stay in the deeper water.

Cruise the Lake of the Ozarks North Side

While the other arms of the Lake of the Ozarks are less developed, the North Side is filled with resorts and attractions. Waterfront restaurants are everywhere here, including Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Lake Resort which includes 7 restaurants and bars. Tom was great. He asked us what our goal was for the day and made sure we got to check all the boxes. When we went to the area for swimming on the lake he provided us with floaties as well which was perfect because we forgot to bring our own. He took us to see the blue cat from the ozarks and provided us with some basic information on the areas. It was a great experience for our girls day. Definitely would book with Tom again!

Chris and his boat made our trip! He was accommodating, made great recommendations, and had all the best amenities! We took our 3 young children and they loved using the lily pad, exploring the interior of the boat, and Betty Boop’s generous snack shack. Chris was so personable and made our trip extra special.

What you need to know

Boating is great fun and will create memories that will last a lifetime. It is also a large responsibility.  It is important to know the rules of the water and to take the safety of those around you seriously. Below is a video that has some tips for captaining your boat and there are many more resources available online. If you wish to have a captain to navigate the boat for you we would be happy to help you. We have the best captains around who know the lake like the back of their hand. Boating made easy!

There is a difference

We always provide the newest and best maintained fleet on the water. Our boats are rotated out EVERY year, so you will always have a new, dependable rental boat when you arrive. Our boats were specifically built for Lake of the Ozarks and feature 100 gauge reinforced aluminum toons. All of our boats are outfitted with the latest V6 200HP or V8 300HP Mercury outboards that deliver all of the power needed for a great day on the lake. Boating made easy!

Anyone born after January 1st, 1984 is required to have a Missouri Boaters Certificate to operate a boat or PWC on Missouri waterways.

First off customer service and communication were great! Dealing with Gary was a breeze. We reserved a few weeks in advance being we were coming for NC and it was a breeze. The boat was delivered to us at our AirBnB with a full tank of fuel and just a few papers to sign. Gary went over operations and regulations that he requires none of which were too much to ask for. We rented the 28” 300hp tri-toon. The boat was clean and well taken care of. Highly recommend them, prices are competitive with other rentals on the lake and it’s a no charge pickup and delivery! We rented the boat for 8 hrs with 3 separate family outings that day. The Pontoon (with Bluetooth) was clean and extremely comfortable holding at least 12 riders ages 2 to 70. I’m glad to have had the full time of 9-5pm.

They were amazing! The boat was perfect for our party of 11 people, very clean and well kept. Easy check in and returning the boat was simple. Everyone was friendly and answered all questions I had with a smile. I would definitely use them again next time!!

IMPORTANT BOAT RENTAL INFORMATION

Must present boaters certification if born after January 1, 1984. Click here for the official Missouri course for boat renters, receive your temporary certificate, and get on the water.

$500 security deposit required to rent any watercraft.

$1000 security deposit for overnight/multiple day rentals.

Cash or Major Credit Card accepted.

If you are inexperienced or uncomfortable driving a boat, you can hire a driver. The drivers are not affiliated with us and are paid separately from the boat rental. All College Fraternities are required to hire a driver. You are responsible for making sure your driver shows up. If your driver doesn't show up you are still obligated to rent the boat you reserved with us.

Make sure you know where you made your boat reservation. We have people who show up at our business that did not make their reservation with us.

* The Lake of the Ozarks is a 95 mile long lake.

We are located on the 19 mile marker in Osage Beach. We have an operating area you

are required to stay in. Make sure the boat rental company you use is in the area you want to do your boating.

We have a new covered gas dock with 14 pumps and plenty of room in our eight 10’x30’ slips or at the long pull through area for boats with plenty of lifts for the PWCs, Plus a full convenient store to help you enjoy your boating time.

We are accepting reservations for our NEW Lowe tritoons. We also have 10 passenger speedboats, new PWCs/waverunners and our non-motorized rentals. All waivers are electronic, no printing required. We will meet you at the Red Office Trailer on shore for all rentals.
