Renowned for their high-quality craftsmanship, their builds are amongst some of the most highly sought-after superyachts for sale and charter. Specializing in premium craftsmanship of some of the largest superyacht builds in the world, Oceanco’s continuous evolution in the design, engineering and construction of their vessels has made them one of the most successful builders in the large superyacht sector.

The famed brand is a relatively new-comer to the yachting industry having been founded in 1987. However, in their short existence, they have delivered a number of award-winning superyachts, including their largest to date – the 360-foot (110m) JUBILEE, and have a number of even larger vessels in build. Their huge success can be, in part, be attributed to their uncompromising Dutch engineering, meticulous attention to detail and collaborations with some of the world’s leading superyacht designers.

Oceanco Heritage

Specializing in luxury yacht builds in steel and aluminum ranging from 260-feet (80m) up to 460-feet (140m), the Oceanco shipyard is located in Alblasserdam, in the western part of the Netherlands, with a design and sales office in Monaco. Oceanco originated in South Africa in 1987, when a number of South African investors joined forces to build the hulls and superstructures of Oceanco yachts in Durban which were then finished at various facilities in the Netherlands. In 2002 Greek shipping and steel magnate Theodore Aneglopoulos joined the group and building and changed their outlook to focus solely on building megayachts.

To date, Oceanco has delivered a fleet of more than 35 vessels, thirteen of which rank in the top 100 of the world’s largest motor yachts.  Predominantly specializing in large motor yachts, Oceanco delivered the three-masted sailing yacht BLACK PEARL in 2018. At 350-feet (106.7m) in length, she is the largest sailing yacht in the world. Instantly recognizable with her large black sails, she is the result of a five-year collaboration between the yard and designers Ken Freivokh Design, Nuvolari Lenard and Villate Design, along with Dykstra Naval Architects who designed her three 230-foot (70m) DynaRig carbon masts.

Oceanco is known for its BOLD styling and contemporary design

The 360-foot (110m) JUBILEE, which was delivered in 2017, is Oceanco’s largest superyacht project to date. Built in collaboration with naval architect Igor Lobanov with interior design by Sam Sorgiovanni,  she is also the largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands.

The 300-foot (91.5m) EQUANIMTY won “Best Yacht of the Year over 82m” from World Yacht Trophies and “The Finest New Yacht of the 2014 Monaco Yacht Show.” The 290-foot (88.5m) NIRVANA won “2013 Best of the Best Megayachts” from Robb Report, as well as the ShowBoats Design Award for Exterior Design and Styling Award for Displacement Motor Yachts 60m+, and the 360-foot (110m) JUBILEE won an International Superyacht Award in 2018, “Best Exterior Design Award” and “Finest New Superyacht Award” at the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show Superyacht Awards  and  “Best Exterior Styling – Motor Yachts 45m and Above” and “Best Exterior Styling – Motor Yachts 45m and Above” at Boat International’s 2018 Design & Innovation Awards.

In addition to utilizing its in-house design team, Oceanco continues to collaborate with notable designers including Terence Disdale, Nuvolari Lenard, Espen Øino, Sam Sorgiovanni, Tim Heywood and Andrew Winch, amongst others.

As a member of the Seakeeper’s Society, Oceanco recognizes the environmental impact of building and operating large yachts. Mindful of respecting the environment the builder has taken measures to address this. Oceanco regularly assesses their methods and processes to stay ahead of legislation and surpass environmental standards, leading the way where environmental aspects of yacht build are concerned.

The award winning 85.5m/280'6" motor yacht 'Sunrays' by the Dutch shipyard Oceanco offers flexible accommodation for up to 12 guests in 9 cabins and features interior styling by English designer Terence Disdale.

With an abundance of space and superlative amenities across her luxurious decks, you'll be spoilt for choice on a luxury yacht charter aboard Sunrays. She has sensational features such as a dancefloor, beauty salon, spa, elevator, underwater lights, beach club and gym.

Exterior Design

Her sleek and elegant style lines, with the distinctive "dagger" motif, were drawn to create an overall impression of power and strength, inspired by Bjorn's earlier award winning "Mirage" concept design.

Interior Design

The clients wanted a very modern and unusual interior and Terence Disdale Design were commissioned to undertake this challenging design commission. The interior features a collection of rare finishes including hand carved doors, mother of pearl, cow horn veneers, crushed shell, shagreen, parchment and various suedes and leathers. The main stair lobby features a glass and stainless steel cylindrical elevator surrounded by carved wood walls stretch covered with mushroom leather.

Guest Accommodation

Built in 2010, Sunrays offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests in 9 suites comprising a master suite, three VIP cabins, two double cabins and two twin cabins. The bed configuration includes 1 convertible. There are up to twenty-seven crew members on board to provide outstanding service on your charter.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

You and your guests can enjoy a variety of experiences on Sunrays such as a dancefloor where you and your guests can celebrate in style. A piano is also present to create a fantastic atmosphere or elsewhere, if you're in need of indulgence, the beauty salon offers a range of treatments to pamper and restore. Relieve aches from a busy day on the water in the steam room or kick back and relax in the well-appointed spa. Take a plunge in the pool under the sun plus head to the beach club and take advantage of indoor-outdoor living and entertaining. A gym with all the latest equipment is available for a good work out and in addition retreat to the deck jacuzzi and soak up the scenery.

Sunrays benefits from some excellent features to improve your charter such as an elevator, making any part of the yacht quickly and easily accessible. Make your evenings more memorable with stunning underwater lights or elsewhere, with Wi-Fi connectivity you don't have to lose contact with the outside world, unless you want to. Guests will experience complete comfort while chartering thanks to air conditioning.

Performance & Range

Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she offers greater on-board space and is more stable when at anchor thanks to her full-displacement hull. Powered by twin MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 20 knots with a range of up to 7,850 nautical miles from her 287,600 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Sunrays features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels.

Sunrays knows a thing or two about fun on the water, with an extensive selection of action packed water toys and accessories for you and your guests to enjoy whilst on charter. Principle among these is a waterslide letting guests speed from the sun deck to the water in seconds. You'll be loving the huge adrenaline rush as you zip over the water on one of the four Yamaha FX SHO CR WaveRunners. In addition there are towable toys offering fun and adventure. If that isn't enough Sunrays also features waterskis, scuba diving equipment, a seabob, wakeboards, kayaks and much more. When it comes to Tenders, Sunrays has you covered - with three tenders, including a 14.9m/48'11" Blackbird Tender.

Sunrays and her crew are available for charter this summer for cruising within the Mediterranean. She is already accepting bookings this winter for cruising in the Indian Ocean.

The newcomer features sprawling outdoor spaces, with the large aft decks free of any clunky structural elements that might spoil the view or interrupt the flow. Similarly, the pool on the main deck sits flush with a glass bulwark to ensure a clear view of the ocean. Gobbi says it “feels like swimming in the sea.” The lower deck offers more glitzy amenities still, with the beach club offering a panoramic Jacuzzi, a central lounge, and a gym.

As for the interior, Simply Custom yachts range in volume from approximately 2,500 to 2,700 GT. The vessels typically have an owner’s suite on the upper deck and six guest cabins on the main deck. (The layout can be further customized to the owner, of course.) Gobbi says the owner’s suite on Silver Ocean has a private terrace with a pool and a fluid stairway leading to a helipad on the bow.

In terms of performance, Simply Customs sport highly efficient hulls by Lateral Naval Architects and hybrid diesel-electric propulsion systems that are capable of running on low-carbon biofuels. Silver Ocean is expected to have a top speed of 16.5 knots and cruising speed of between 14 and 15 knots. She will also be capable of covering 5,000 nautical miles when traveling at 12 to 14 knots.
