Damen SeaXplorer 62 Expedition Superyacht Anawa Captured in Norway
Damen 's first expedition SeaXplorer superyacht, the Seaxplorer 62 Anawa , has been captured underway in Norway.
It comes after the 62 metre custom-design yacht was delivered and embarked upon "a life of worldwide travels," according to the yard.
The yacht left the building hall on October 31 last year, showing off her striking turquoise hull for the first time.
The yacht is the first delivery from the SeaXplorer range which was first unveiled at the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show. The SeaXplorer 77 La Datcha hit the water this summer.
The 62 metre expedition yacht features naval architecture by Damen’s in-house team and exterior lines by Azure Yacht Design .
Interior design meanwhile came from Carlo Torre of Monaco Yacht Temptation, who was specifically chosen by the owners. Fraser supervised the build while EYOS Expeditions partnered with Damen throughout the design process.
Key features of the Polar Class yacht include a fully certified helideck and hangar, two tender garages, a dive store and plentiful storage facilities to ensure 30 days autonomy on the water.

‘Impressive’: 62-metre superyacht with helipad docks in Victoria

A superyacht worth millions and equipped with a helipad is docked in Victoria, and passersby have mixed reactions about the giant vessel at the Inner Harbour.
With a top speed of 16 knots, the 62-metre-long yacht called Seaxplorer 62 Anawa was built in 2020 and is worth $100 million, according to the website superyachtfan.com .
It says it can fit 12 guests and 20 crew members.
“It looks modern yet somehow mysterious. Would I spend time on it? For sure,” one passerby told CHEK News Tuesday. “I have no idea what it is. The front is quite different.”
Vessel Finder , a website that tracks boats around the world, says Anawa arrived in B.C.’s capital Monday evening after departing Sidney earlier that afternoon.
“Anawa (Ala Wai) is actually a canal in Hawaii, in Honolulu,” said one passerby. “Oh, really? It wouldn’t fit,” added another with a laugh.
The vessel from Netherlands-based Damen Yachting is owned by Jorge Paulo Lemann, an 83-year-old billionaire investment banker and businessman who co-founded the private equity firm 3G Capital that’s behind brands like Burger King and Heinz.
Forbes says Lemann’s worth $14.8 billion .
“We saw it coming in yesterday. I thought it was coming in backwards. A Brazilian billionaire, apparently? It’s impressive,” said one James Bay resident.
In August 2020, luxury lifestyle magazine Boat International raved about Anawa , calling it a custom-designed yacht that allows for “30 days autonomy on the water” with its chopper hangar, two tender garages and storage facilities.
For Victoria’s Ron Aird, it’s “amazing” to look at.
“It’s great. I think it’s a good companion for the sauna barge. They’re both on the cutting edge design-wise, which is a treat for Victoria,” he said.
Across the pier, a 44-metre barge that made waves after being transformed into a floating Nordic spa is docked and set to open soon.

“I don’t think it’s that big compared to the cruise ships, which I don’t like. It’s not intrusive at all,” added Aird, pointing to the property next door. “Over there, it’s all parking lot, so I’d like to see something to do with the ocean.”
But not everyone was a fan of the yacht, especially its exterior that’s painted turquoise.
“I really don’t like the design of it. It’s not one of the nicest boats here. It’s okay, I hope it doesn’t stay too long. It kind of obstructs the view,” said one passerby.
“It’s definitely unnecessary, for sure,” added another.
SuperYachtFan says the price of a vessel “can vary greatly depending on a number of factors, including the size, age, and level of luxury of the yacht, as well as the materials and technology used in its construction.”
It says Anawa costs about $10 million annually to operate, and a crew on board tells CHEK News the vessel will be in the Victoria area for about three months.

Massive superyacht with helicopter pad docks in Victoria
A 62-metre superyacht has made B.C.'s capital its latest port of call.
The three-year-old Anawa yacht, built by Netherlands-based Damen Yachting, arrived at the Van Isle Marina in Sidney on Sunday, before travelling down to Ship Point in Victoria on Monday.
The superyacht, estimated to be worth $100 million by website superyacht.com , could still be seen docked in Victoria's Inner Harbour on Tuesday.
"Key features of the Polar Class yacht include a fully certified helideck and hangar, two tender garages, a dive store and plentiful storage facilities to ensure 30 days autonomy on the water," said superyacht magazine Boat International in August 2020, when the vessel was first unveiled.
According to Boat International , the Anawa is just one of 190 motor yachts in the world that measures between 60 to 70 metres, and is in the top five per cent of vessels in terms of length overall.
Website superyachtfan.com reports that the Anawa is owned by Brazilian billionaire Jorge Paulo Lemann, who has an estimated net worth of 15.2 billion USD, according to Forbes Magazine's list of the world's richest billionaires in 2023 .
The 83-year-old started his career in investment banking before becoming a controlling shareholder of Anheuser-Busch InBev, a brewing company that makes more than 500 brands, including Budweiser, Stella Artois and Modelo.
Lemann also has stakes in Restaurant Brands International, which is the parent company of Tim Hortons, Burger King, Popeyes and Firehouse Subs, according to Forbes.
The Anawa has an annual operating cost of about $10 million, according to superyachtfans.com.
The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA) says it has hosted superyachts before, but this one is particularly large.
"It is most likely the largest ship we've had moored at Ship Point," said Stella Garcia, manager of communications for the GVHA.
Anyone interested in looking at the vessel should make their way down to the harbour soon.
"We can't tell you how long it's going to be here for, but we do hope to see it again," said Garcia.
"It's a rare thing and I think that's what makes living in a port city so exciting."
