| Custom built in 2009 by Wiggers Custom Yachts in Bowmanville Ontario, this masterpiece of Canadian yacht designer Mark Ellis was built to very high standards for the discriminating buyer. Top quality finishing on deck and below make this rare Canadian classic a much sought after vessel on both sides of the border. Roomy and designed for single handing, the 33 is an ideal yacht for the world’s best cruising waters. The like-new condition of the boat literally screams pride of ownership. Only a few overnight trips ever so the whole boat is like new with only 100 hours on the Yanmar engine. The navigation equipment has been replaced or updated by the current owners and Osprey is ready for many more years of enjoyable cruising. Osprey can be sailed single-handed from her deep, comfortable cockpit with only one halyard on an electric winch to raise or lower the sail, one sheet to control boom position, and a choker line to fine-tune sail shape for maximum efficiency. With a 31’ 6” waterline and huge single sail, she is extremely fast. Under power, a sail drive with fuel-efficient feathering Variprop provides great stopping power and the ability to reverse without the prop-walk typical of a traditional fixed-blade propeller. The cockpit is equipped with pedestal steering and stadium seating aft for great visibility underway, and there is a full array of updated Raymarine electronics including autopilot and radar for extended coastal cruising. Topside, wide non-skid side decks run unobstructed from bow to stern with double lifelines for added crew safety on those rare occasions where it’s necessary to go forward. Below decks, a 12’ 6” beam and 6’ 6” headroom make for a cavernous interior and a sense of roominess normally found in much larger vessels. The mast is positioned well forward so it does not encumber the saloon or master suite. Opening portlights and overhead hatches provide bright, airy cabin spaces with beautiful teak cabinetry, classic wood accents and teak and holly flooring throughout. The master suite has a double berth, plenty of storage and en-suite access to the head and shower area, while the quarter berth aft provides a second sleeping area for two. Port-side, a U-shaped dinette seats up to eight, and a starboard-side settee opposite seats two in comfort with storage below. The galley is positioned at the companionway for easy access, and is well appointed with ample storage, solid surface countertops and deep stainless steel sinks. Osprey’s cruising to date has been limited to freshwater (Great Lakes) and she is in exceptional overall condition. As one of only six custom built Nonesuch 33’s to be produced by Wiggers since Hinterhoeller ceased production in 1996, she is an extremely rare find. Quite simply, boats of this caliber rarely come on the market, and when they do, tend to get snapped up very quickly. Gordon Fisher, Past Commodore of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, and former President of Southam Press, wanted a boat which was easy to sail, offered ample accommodation, and was of manageable length. Mark Ellis was commissioned to do the design work for this formula, and Hinterhoeller Yachts became the builder. THE PRODUCT WAS THE SERIES OF LEGENDARY NONSUCH BOATS. The Nonsuch series of boats are generally considered to be very sturdily built boats. In his review, Paul Howard states that two Nonsuches, David Philpott’s “Serenity IV†and Brian Shelley’s “Saci IVâ€, were abandoned at sea, found floating months later, and were refurbished and are sailing today
Sadly, production of the Nonsuch came to a close in January 1996, when Hinterhoeller Yachts closed its doors.

From company web site: ANDY WIGGERS, born in Groenlo, Holland in 1950, was the youngest of eleven children. His father, a master of the crafts, owned and managed a local furniture and a wooden shoe factory. This is where he was first introduced to woodworking, a very special skill developed and refined with the teaching of a master. In 1960 the family moved to Canada and settled in the city of Oshawa. After his studies were finished, he sought employment at Whitby Boat Works and was a finish woodworker there. With a short diversion as a home builder in the early seventies, he returned to what he loved then and pursues to this day, ‘woodworking’, as a craftsman extraordinaire. From humble beginnings, providing a mobile service in woodworking repairs and replacements for boats of all sizes, he diligently followed his desired career of choice. As the business prospered, he built a shop, first in Oshawa and later moved the business to his present quarters in Bowmanville where many of his accomplishments have been born. Today, his expertise extends to manage a very talented team of long term employees in all the specialized fields that make a boat building and repair business viable. His list of specialized building is impressive. Notwithstanding partial builds and very drastic upgrades and changes to some very fine yachts, the following is a list of some of the vessels that he built from the start to finish. Nonsuch 33 is a 33′ 5″ / 10.2 m monohull sailboat designed by Mark Ellis and built by Wiggers Custom Yachts Ltd. and Hinterhoeller Yachts Ltd. starting in 1988.
As of January, 2007, Wiggers Custom Yachts, a Canadian yacht builder located in Bowmanville, Ontario has acquired the molds for the Nonsuch line. Operating under licensing agreements with designer, Wiggers states they will build boats to order.
Nonsuch 40 is a 44′ 11″ / 13.7 m monohull sailboat designed by Mark Ellis and built by Wiggers Custom Yachts Ltd. starting in 1988.
Built in Taiwan and fitted out by Wiggers Custom Yachts (CAN). Sold as the JOURNEYMAN 40 in the UK and the SEQUIOA 40 in Canada. Sailboat Forum.

The Nonsuch 40 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a cat rig, an unstayed mast with a wishbone boom, a plumb stem, a vertical transom, an internally-mounted spade-type rudder controlled by a wheel and a fixed fin keel.

Wiggers Custom Yachts has built several custom sail boats including racing boats that have competed in and won the Canada's cup in 1981 and 1984. Wiggers has also built several more luxurious cruising style of yacht including a 65' design by Allen Andrews a 54' design by Mark Ellis.
