Banshee sailboat rudder & tiller rigging. This is my new (to me) Banshee sailing dinghy. She is 13 feet overall, and cat rigged, which means she only has a single sail behind the main mast, with no head sail. This rudder and tiller doesn't look exactly like that shown in photos online of other Banshee boats, so it may be a later retrofit.

The Rebirth of the Banshee
The Origin. Banshee designer, Richard (Dick) L. Reid, was born in 1935 in Santa Cruz, California and passed away in January of 2013. From all accounts, he was an avid racer and won many trophies (see Santa Cuz Sentinel ). In 1969 he was building Flying Juniors and saw the possible need for a boat more comfortable than the popular Sunfish.

Banshee is more of a pond yacht style than scale, but it's easy to build a little low cabin at this size. There have been some nice conversions of my boats to a semi-scale look in the past. The internal structure is very simple and light as it's non-structural to the hull. The radio tray carries the sail servo and switch, if you use one.
