Michael Jordan's super yacht, Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan yacht

There are a ton of perks when you're the richest athlete to ever step foot on Earth. Michael Jordan sold his basketball team for billions, a $29 million mansion that he doesn't mind hasn't been sold for almost a decade, one of the rarest cars in the world … The list goes on.

But one of the most expensive single purchases Jordan ever made with his money to date was on an $80 million yacht named ‘Joy'. What's more, that's not even the only yacht Jordan owns. He also has a $21 million yacht called ‘Mr. Terrible', which is pretty fitting when you compare the two yachts he has to his name.

First acquired by Jordan in 2016, the vessel spans 230 feet in length and outlines at almost 10 feet. Its maximum speed is 16 knots while its cruising speed is 12 knots. He was first spotted cruising with the yacht on his way to the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy with some of his closest friends. Lastly, the superstructure is built of Aluminum, the decks are made of Teak wood, and the entire ship is insulated with glass aluminum to accommodate the changing weather and was specially developed by Bannenberg & Rowell Designs.

Amenities inside Michael Jordan's yacht

Michael Jordan named this yacht Joy for a reason. Anything that can bring him or anyone joy can be found inside his yacht. For starters, it comes in five decks, eight cabins, an indoor jacuzzi, a movie theater, a spa, and a stunning dining room. One of the biggest perks of this yacht is the owner's pavilion. This is where you'll find the yacht's penthouse suite, personal office, and a terrace to check out the best views of the ocean.

If you plan to stay active while on the yacht, it has you covered too. It also comes with a gym and an indoor basketball court. After all, what more can you expect from the yacht of one of the greatest basketball players in the world?

When it comes to maintenance, Joy definitely doesn't come cheap. There's a crew of around 19 people onboard the ship 24/7 and costs $800,000 a week to maintain as per Marca . Luckily, this yacht isn't exclusive to Jordan or his friends and family. In fact, anyone can rent Joy for a week. All you'll need is $840,000!

Take a look below at some of the pictures of Michael Jordan's super yacht.

"Joy," Michael Jordan's $80 million yacht, is one of the GOAT's most prized possessions.

Michael Jordan's $80 Million Yacht Is a Luxury Boat Fit for the GOAT

Let's face it: The average joe, or even most above average joes for that matter, isn't going out and buying 200-foot super yachts. Only a select few of the most successful people in this world can afford such a luxury. Take the greatest player in NBA History, Michael Jordan , for example.

There's pretty much no denying it: Michael Jordan is the GOAT. Not only was he an NBA legend who won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, but the five-time MVP also turned his Jordan brand into a super-successful business, making billions of dollars for Nike and opening the door for other athletes to do the same, like LeBron James. As of today, the billionaire owner of the Charlotte Hornets' net worth puts him on the Forbes list year after year.

Now, Jordan is no stranger to boating. A while back, he bought a massive sport fishing Viking Yacht named Catch 23 . It rocked the Air Jordan 3 sneaker elephant print color scheme, and he commonly used it to compete in fishing tournaments. However, one of his more recent purchase puts his old fishing boat to shame. I mean, it is an $80 million luxury yacht after all.

Below, we'll check out what the North Carolina's native pride and Joy (that's the boat's name, by the way) has to offer.

Michael Jordan's Yacht a.k.a. Joy

Coming in at a massive 230 feet, Joy can be spotted miles and miles away. With eight different full-sized cabins onboard, the yacht can house family, friends, or anyone else worthy of staying in the Master Suite with no problem at all. Inside, you'll also find a full bar with a beautiful dining room area and a 270-degree ocean view. Of course, Jordan has also hired some of the world's finest chefs and bartenders as crew members, to serve himself and the guests while out on the water.

Along with an amazing view, the rear deck is fitted with a jacuzzi and a surrounding lounge area for hanging out or tanning. Jordan isn't the kind of person that likes to just sit around though, so it makes sense that there's also a full gym at his disposal to get the blood pumping. Those five-star meals need to get burned off somehow. Additionally, it wouldn't truly be a yacht owned by basketball player Michael Jordan without a full-sized basketball court. He may not play professionally anymore, but that doesn't mean he can't teach his guests a few lessons on the court from time to time.

When it comes down to it, Jordan is a businessman. Because of that, there's also a room that's mainly dedicated to meetings with important clients. The room is fitted with top of the line audio/visual equipment, and a satellite to give a presentation that is nearly impossible to decline. What better way to pitch your ideas than from this luxurious meeting room?

To put things in perspective, this yacht costs around $840,000 each week in order to man the ship and to keep the vessel in seaworthy condition. Not exactly a small price to pay on top of the $80 million price tag, but for the top-of-the-line amenities, it seems to be worth every penny to Jordan. He truly is living the life, pulling up to the beach club on a Caribbean island, ready to take play some 1-on-1 with anyone willing to take on the GOAT.

In this article, we’re going to delve into the details of the “Catch 23”, from its construction and specs to its famous owner and how he spends his time on board. Let’s dive in!

The Owner of the Catch 23

Michael Jordan , one of the greatest basketball players of all time, is the proud owner of the “Catch 23” . With an estimated net worth of around $2 billion USD, he is more than capable of maintaining this $8 million Sportfishing yacht , even with annual running costs of approximately $800,000 (Give or take).

The Catch 23: An Overview

epic photo of michael jordans catch 23 sportfishing boat

The Catch 23 is an 80-foot Viking Sportfishing Boat built in 2018. Known for their high-quality sportfishing and cruising yachts, Viking Yachts has its roots in New Jersey, USA, and was founded by brothers Bob and Bill Healey in 1964.

Today, the company is one of the world’s leading yacht builders.

The Catch 23 Yacht owned by michael jordan

Equipped with powerful MTU engines, the Catch 23 boasts a top speed of 40 knots and a range of over 500 nautical miles. Designed to accommodate up to 8 guests and a crew of 2, this Sportfishing Boat is perfect for sports fishing tournaments and leisurely trips alike.

michael jordans boat the catch 23

The Catch 23 calls Jupiter, Florida, its home dock, but Michael Jordan has been known to take it up and down the East Coast of the US and the Bahamas for various sports fishing tournaments.

Over the years, the Catch 23 has participated in some of the biggest Marlin tournaments in the world, such as the Ocean City, Maryland White Marlin Open and the Big Rock Tournament in Morehead City, North Carolina.

Michael Jordans Jet Wrap

Jordan’s yacht and private jet both feature the same wrap print based on his iconic Air Jordan 3 sneakers. He uses the Catch 23 for sports fishing tournaments and relaxation, often enjoying cigars and good company on board.

The captain of the”Catch 23″ is Stetson Turney, and he has performed well for Mr. Jordan. For example, during the 2022 Mid-Atlantic Tournament, the crew secured a first-place finish with a 73 lb White Marlin, although I don’t believe Jordan was on board.

michael jordans catch 23 yacht

Despite being a vessel designed for function more than luxury relaxation, Jordan has ensured that the Catch 23 is equipped with comfortable and stylish interiors.

The yacht features white leather and marble finishes, as well as hardwood surfaces, allowing guests to relax on couches, bar stools, and booth seating in the salon and galley on the main deck.

The enclosed flybridge is spacious, offering ample seating for guests who prefer to be near the helm rather than downstairs. If Jordan chooses to have a crew on deck, this space ensures that everyone can socialize and enjoy their time on board.

Everything You Want to Know about Michael Jordan’s Yacht

For a lot of people out there, Michael Jordan was the biggest sports star of the 1990s. This is because he led the Chicago Bulls to 3 championship wins from 1991 to 1993, retired from the NBA to play some minor league baseball, and then led the Chicago Bulls to another 3 championships from 1996 to 1998. Summed up, it is no wonder that a lot of people see him as the greatest basketball player of all time, which is something that comes with a huge amount of respect, as shown by nicknames such as Air Jordan.

With that said, it is interesting to note that Jordan seems to have a fair amount of business skill as well. Certainly, he came out of the NBA as a millionaire , seeing as how he made a total of $90 million over the course of his NBA career. However, that served as a springboard and nothing more than that, as shown by what Jordan has managed to make based on the reputation that he built up. For example, Jordan was famous enough that he wound up playing the lead character in the 1996 movie called Space Jam , which might have met with a mixed response from the critics but was nonetheless such a huge success that it became the single most successful basketball movie ever. Furthermore, it is important to note that Jordan still makes tens of millions on Nike royalties on an annual basis because his shoes are still selling to a huge number of fans out there. Finally, Jordan actually became a billionaire in relatively recent times because he purchased the Charlotte Bobcats for $175 million, which is relevant because said franchise has seen a huge upswing to value to something along the lines of $750 million.

As a result, it is safe to say that Jordan has a lot of money to spend in various lavish ways. For example, he has a private jet that has been painted Carolina blue. Furthermore, he has spent more than $12 million building a home in Florida, which was in addition to real estate properties elsewhere. Finally, Jordan owns a yacht called Mr. Terrible, which is well, the exact opposite of what its name sounds like.

What Is There to Know About Michael Jordan’s Yacht?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mr. Terrible is one of the most luxurious yachts that can be found out there on the sea. In total, it measures 154 feet in length, which is enough by most ways of reckoning to make it count as a mega yacht. For those who are curious, mega yachts are essentially private yachts measuring 24 meters or more, which is big enough that they actually need a professional crew on-board. Something that more or less restricts them to a very small group of potential clients, which in turn, means that each example is very much one of a kind with nothing else that is exactly like it.

Of course, mega-yachts being mega-yachts, this means that there is more to it than just its length. For example, one of the reasons for its construction is its use on fishing trips, as shown by the facilities that can be found on-board. Moreover, it is interesting to note that Mr. Terrible actually comes with a fairly powerful underwater camera, meaning that Jordan and his guests can use it to gaze down at what is happening in the waters beneath them.

With that said, Mr. Terrible boasts other ways to support rest and relaxation as well. For example, there is a bar where people can sip their favorite beverages. Furthermore, there is an area for outdoor dining as well as an indoor dining room with an actual chandelier. On top of this, Mr. Terrible boasts a design that has drawn inspiration from Art Deco as well as tropical themes, as shown by the fact that it has incorporated tropical wood into its walls as well as a staircase that has incorporated bubinga, which is a particular kind of hardwood with a rich color that projects an almost palpable presence.

Summed up, Jordan’s Mr. Terrible is a remarkable demonstration of the yacht-builder’s art because he can afford to pay for the best. Something that stands as a visible reminder of how Jordan has managed to turn his basketball reputation into a net worth that makes him the third wealthiest black person from the United States.

Check out Michael Jordan’s Massive Sportfish Catch 23

Earlier this year Michael Jordan’s yacht, a beautiful Viking sportfish, participated in the Ocean City, Maryland White Marlin Open .

Touted as the world’s largest billfish tournament, the White Marlin Open draws thousands of anglers and spectators every summer. More than $5 million in prize money was awarded in 2018. At the August 2019 event Jordan entered his Viking, named Catch 23, and he was entry number 123.

The custom 80 foot Viking is decked out in a wrap matching the famous elephant print from his Air Jordan 3 sneakers. His plane is decked out in the same print.

Jordan himself was spotted on the yacht enjoying cigars and some great weather and fishing! The Viking 80 set up to win, the 216 square-foot cockpit is equipped for tournament fishing with a transom door,  freezer, tackle, and general stowage space, live well capacity, fish wells, an ice chest and a chill box for drinks.

Update: June 9, 2020 MJ was in Morehead City, NC for the Big Rock Tournament and his Viking hauled in a 442.3 lb Blue Marlin! It won’t win the tournament, but it was great to see the billionaire owner of one of these boats actually there at the weigh in!

Powered with tier 3 MTU Series 2000 V16 M96L engines each developing 2,635 mhp with Blue Vision controls and display monitors, our testing calculations indicate a top speed in excess of 40 knots with an effortless high 30 knot cruise, depending upon load, sea conditions and ambient environmental factors. These engines are the same as used aboard the 92 Convertible. It is interesting to note that MTU looked to Viking to be the first manufacturer to use this new propulsion system and Viking’s success with its 92 series verified the engines comprise a winning combination for speed, efficiency, range, acceleration and quietness, which will replicate aboard the new 80 Convertible.

Entered through an electric sliding door on the cockpit mezzanine deck, the salon is a forest of satin walnut joinery and leather appointments, created by the artful direction from the team of the William Bales and Company. The 21 ft. 5 in. beam and the use of the vertical space is immediately apparent creating a free flowing movement with the ambiance of a great room. A day head is immediately to starboard. To port, a J lounge and coffee table is a virtual conference area, opposite walnut cabinetry housing a 60 in. flat screen television on an electric lift. Forward to starboard a raised built-in dinette serves a dual purpose with rod stowage for 80 pound outfits. The fore and aft style of the galley maximizes useful space with under counter refrigeration beneath a second dining area with bar stools, while the outboard counter accommodates a double sink and electric cooktop. Forward of the galley, a versatile walk-in pantry is as spacious as a stateroom and can be outfitted as such.

Built for the ultra rich

Inviting accommodations include five generously appointed staterooms, including a full beam master suite with a king size walk-around bed. The port and forward staterooms have walk-around queen beds. The two starboard staterooms have upper and lower berths, and are surprisingly spacious thanks to the use of sliding entrance doors which maximize interior space. Every stateroom has a large head and fiberglass shower stall. A washer and dryer are located in the companionway.

On the flying bridge, a center console command station gives the operator a great view underway and while fishing. Three pedestal helm seats are standard, and additional seating is available on port and starboard lounges, each with rod stowage below. A U-shape lounge and table forward of the console seats more guests, and is notably below the forward sightlines of the helmsman thanks to the raised standing platform behind the console. A freezer is forward between a refrigerated box and a sink with a freshwater outlet. While air conditioning is available on the open flying bridge, a climate controlled enclosed bridge with access from the salon and the mezzanine deck also is available. Additionally, the enclosed bridge convertible also can be ordered with an open Sky Bridge.

A lengthy list of standard equipment includes a hydraulic bow thruster, a centralize seawater system, dual freshwater pumps, Veem S-class propellers, two 29 kW Onan generators, two Glendinning Cablemasters, Charles PM 100 shore power cord combiner and isolation transformer, and an Octoplex touch screen electrical distribution panel with monitors in the salon and on the flying bridge with manual back-up.

Michael Jordan & Wife Yvette Prieto Go For A Romantic Stroll In Croatia Amid Yacht Vacation — Photos

Michael Jordan and his wife Yvette are currently vacationing on a super yacht that costs $1.2 million a week that includes a master suite, 2 VIP staterooms and various guest cabins.

Michael Jordan & Yvette Prieto

Michael Jordan , 58, and his wife Yvette Prieto , 42, are on the trip of a lifetime! The couple, who married back in 2013, were spotted on a rare public outing as they explored the historic city of Spit, Croatia on Friday, Aug. 27. Michael stayed low key in a casual teal t-shirt, shorts and black leather sneakers, keeping his eyes hidden behind a pair of sunglasses. The iconic NBA champ added a black Air Jordan baseball cap on his head, a nod to his massively successful shoe line with Nike that launched way back in 1985.

Michael Jordan & Yvette Prieto

The former Chicago Bull , who is worth over a billion dollars, was also sporting some serious bling with a totally iced out watch on his left wrist as well as a silver chain necklace around his neck. Michael looked like he was in total vacation mode as he held onto a brown cup of coffee. At one point, Yvette sweetly linked arms with her 6’6″ beau, showing off her own stylish ensemble. The American model stayed breezy in a black linen romper and white Nike sneakers, also adding some pricey accessories to her summer-ready look.

She kept her blonde highlighted hair back with a multi-colored Fendi headscarf, along with a $5,000 nude Chanel vanity case bag, and stacked Cartier LOVE bracelets. Yvette also appeared to be holding her iPhone housed in a Louis Vuitton branded case, finishing her look with a fresh pair of white Nike shoes.

The two are currently vacationing on a super yacht called the O’Pari , per the  Daily Mail . The luxe 95m vessel costs a whopping $1.2 million a week to run, and requires a crew of 29 people for up to 12 guests. Built in 2020, the yacht includes a massive master suite, along with two VIP staterooms and multiple guest cabins. Other amenities on board include an outdoor bar, deck pool, essential jacuzzi and gym for those looking to get a sweat session in while cruising the Mediterranean.

Michael Jordan’s Yacht Life. Inside the NBA Great’s Multimillion-Dollar Fleet of Yachts

Michael Jordan is enjoying smooth sailing since agreeing to sell his stake in the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets for a reported $3 billion. The former NBA champ has at least three multimillion-dollar yachts — an $80 million yacht called Joy, another yacht called Mr. Terrible worth $21 million, and one named Catch-23.

michael jordan's yacht photos

Inside ‘Joy’

Joy measures 230 feet (70 meters) in length. Bannenberg & Rowell Design created Joy, which has a top speed of roughly 16 knots and a cruising speed of about 12 knots.

michael jordan's yacht photos

The super yacht, launched in 2016 and purchased by Jordan in 2019, has a total of five decks, each built of teak wood. The owner’s pavilion, which gives a 270-degree view of the ocean and features a chic owner’s lounge for enjoying a luxuriant yet private moment, is one of this opulent ship’s key attractions. The master suite is exquisite, and the bedrooms have mosaic skylights that overlook the ocean. Additionally, there is a stunning owner’s office.

The yacht can accommodate a crew of 19 and roughly 12 passengers. The eight lavish cabins, which are almost as opulent as the master suites, are available for guests to stay in. All of the bathrooms include granite finishes and rainfall showers. To provide visitors with the most memorable experience possible, there are spa rooms equipped with an indoor jacuzzi and sauna. A VIP suite and twin rooms are lavishly provided for on the yacht.

michael jordan's yacht photos

And, of course, it has a gym and an indoor basketball court.

To adapt to shifting weather conditions, the ship is built with an aluminum superstructure and glass aluminum insulation.

Among the trips Jordon has taken on the yacht was with some of his closest friends to the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy.

Inside ‘Mr. Terrible’

Although it is four times smaller than Joy, Mr. Terrible is also one of the most luxurious ships now cruising the seas, and by most measures, its overall length of 154 feet is sufficient to deem it a super yacht.

michael jordan's yacht photos

Mega yachts are essentially private yachts that are 24 meters or larger in length and are so big that a professional crew is necessary to manage them.

Mr. Terrible has an indoor bar, and additionally, there is a space for dining outside as well as a dining area within with a real chandelier. On top of that, Mr. Terrible has a design that was influenced by both Art Deco and tropical themes, as evidenced by the use of tropical wood in its walls and on a staircase made of Bubinga, a tropical African hardwood.

It is unclear when Jordan purchased Mr. Terrible.

Inside Catch-23

Jordan also owns a fishing yacht called Catch-23; his Chicago Bulls playing number was 23. The yacht cost $8 million .

Viking Yachts produced the Catch 23 luxury motor boat in 2018.

michael jordan's yacht photos

The sport boat has a top speed of 40 knots and a range of more than 500 nautical miles. This magnificent yacht is outfitted with cutting-edge technology and facilities to provide a pleasant and entertaining experience for everybody aboard. The 80-foot yacht’s interior is built for luxury and comfort, with high-end finishes, comfy furniture, and cutting-edge entertainment systems. The boat can easily accommodate up to eight people and a crew of two. In 2020, Catch 23 was used to compete in the Big Rock Fishing Tournament, where Jordan traveled to Morehead City, North Carolina. Jordan competed in the nonprofit event to raise money for local charities.

Inside M’Brace

It is rumored that Jordan also owns a yacht called M’Brace, which is worth $115 million. According to Majorca Daily Bulletin, the yacht was sold in December 2022, allegedly to the basketball legend. The yacht can accommodate 12 guests and a crew of 24.

Michael Jordan finally set to sell $15m abandoned mansion after 12 years on market

M ichael Jordan has finally sold his $15million abandoned mansion 12 years after the property first went up on the market. The NBA icon's Highland Park estate in Illinois is currently listed as 'contingent'.

The property is a nine-bedroom, 19-bathroom mansion that has an abundance of personal amenities that Jordan installed, including the iconic No. 23 gate. It also features a cigar room, a library, an indoor gym, an infinity pool, a tennis court, and a full-sized basketball court.

However, the 56,000-square-foot house appears to have been abandoned with a recent TikTok video appearing to show the inside of the six-time NBA champion's property showing the place in disarray. However, representatives of Jordan have said it's not his house.

  • Tyler Reddick's Michael Jordan insight speaks volumes about NBA legend
  • Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin make feelings clear as $8.5m NASCAR deadline passes

Even still, the condition of the property may have been reflected in the price tag with the mansion initially coming on the market in 2012 with an asking price of $29m. Jordan purchased the lot in Highland Park in 1991 and planned to build the mansion, which was completed in 1995.

The buyer has not been identified, and according to TMZ , the property is listed as 'contingent', meaning that the world-be buyer and Jordan have a deal but the agreement could be subject to several changes or conditions being met.

Jordan has not been living in the Illinois property, instead residing primarily in his native North Carolina in retirement. Although the 61-year-old did spend the summer with his wife, Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto, aboard a yacht in the Mediterranean.

His property portfolio is said to also include a nine-bedroom, ten-bathroom, 43,000-square-foot property in Jupiter, Florida. The house was built in 2013 and is located next to the renowned Jupiter Island Golf Club.

Jordan gave up his 13-year reign as Charlotte Hornets owner in July last year, selling his majority stake in the franchise to a group led by Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin. The sale was said to be worth $3billion, proving an enormous profit from the $275m MJ purchased the team for back in 2010.

The Chicago Bulls legend is still a minority owner of the Hornets but his sale catapulted him into the Forbes' 400 list of the wealthiest Americans in the US. Jordan's net worth has surpassed $3.2bn according to Forbes.

Making him the wealthiest athlete in history combining his legendary career in the NBA with his various endorsements with the likes of Nike and the Jordan brand, his property portfolio, franchise ownership and 23XI Racing NASCAR co-ownership.

How it took 12 years for Michael Jordan, known to have the Midas touch, to find a buyer for his $15M Chicago mansion

michael jordan's yacht photos

After 12 years on the market, Michael Jordan’s Chicago mansion appears to have found a buyer. TMZ reports that the Highland Park estate is now listed as “contingent,” meaning a deal is in place with conditions to be met.

The mansion’s last listed price was $14.855 million, which marks a significant reduction from the initial $29 million asking price in 2012, according to Daily Mail. The unidentified buyer of Jordan’s Chicago mansion has secured a massive 56,000-square-foot home.

The estate features nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, a cigar room, a library, an indoor gym, a circular infinity pool, a basketball court, a tennis court, and an iconic front gate adorned with the number 23.

Zimbabwe: Arrest warrant issued for Bellarmine Chatunga, late President Mugabe’s son

The current condition of Jordan’s Chicago mansion is unclear after a months-old TikTok clip surfaced, showing the house in complete disarray. The footage appears to depict the abandoned property in a state of neglect.

The video, recorded by an “urban explorer” and posted on TikTok in January, shows what appears to be Jordan’s private indoor basketball court flooded and one of his kitchens appearing to be disassembled.

Despite representatives for Jordan denying it is his house, the video, recorded about nine months ago, is now gaining traction across social media .

“It’s clearly his home,” Bruce Bowers of the Bowers Realty Group told SportBible. “It’s a tough sell. There’s a lot of work that would have to be done to make it your own.”

In retirement , Jordan has primarily resided in his native North Carolina. He was recently spotted spending the summer with his wife, Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto, aboard a yacht in the Mediterranean.

Jordan ended his 13-year tenure as the Charlotte Hornets owner by selling his majority stake to a group led by Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin in August 2023.

The sale of Jordan’s majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets to Schnall and Plotkin was valued at $3 billion, representing a massive profit for Jordan, who bought the team for $275 million in 2010. Although he remains a minority owner, the sale has propelled Jordan into Forbes’ 400 list of the wealthiest Americans.

His net worth is now estimated to exceed $3 billion, making him the first athlete to join this exclusive club.

Jordan remains the wealthiest athlete in history, thanks to his legendary NBA career and lucrative commercial deals, particularly with Nike through the Jordan brand. His most recent annual royalty check from Nike reportedly totaled around $260 million.

Almost every item from Jordan is grabbed quickly, including his jerseys but the delay in the sale of his Chicago mansion shows that he doesn’t always have the Midas touch. Experts blamed the delay on the mansion’s interior (everything in there about Jordan), the price, and security concerns (the mansion attracts fans).
