bluegame’s first multihull motor yacht emerges as catamaran with garage for tender boat

Bluegame’s unprecedented bgm75 two-hulled motor yacht.

Bluegame, a San Lorenzo brand, makes its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023 with its first-ever motor yacht BGM75 which features two hulls and a garage for its tender boat. The horizontal surfaces between the two hulls are connected using a single volume, creating the illusion of a monohull. Bluegame states that this layout is not feasible on traditional catamarans, making the BGM75 a pioneer for a two-hulled motor yacht of its kind.

Unlike regular catamarans, which often have a boxy shape with widely spaced hulls, the BGM75 is designed to be sleeker. It can be compared to a normal yacht with an additional second hull. This design creates a single, larger space between the two hulls, similar to what can be found on a single-hulled yacht. Thanks to this approach, the BGM75 can offer spacious areas, including an owner’s cabin that spans the entire width of the boat.

An owner’s cabin may not be feasible on regular catamarans because their hulls are too far apart. The space between the two hulls that Bluegame went for, which is often empty on traditional catamarans, is utilized on the BGM75 to conceal an automated garage where the user can store a smaller boat that can be lowered into the water whenever needed. Since it is not as wide as most catamarans for its length, the BGM75 can be docked in spaces meant for regular single-hulled boats rather than requiring the larger berths reserved for super-sized yachts.

It took Bluegame approximately three years of testing and design processes before bringing the BGM75 to life, as the design and realization of the motor yacht required significantly more time and resources than a traditional model. During the production process of the catamaran, Bluegame reduced its length-to-width ratio to enable the BGM75 to be moored between monohull boats rather than between much larger superyachts. The efficient hull is designed by Philippe Briand, a world-renowned expert in the design of high-performance hulls.

Piero Lissoni of Lissoni & Partners and Bernardo Zuccon of Zuccon International Project joined forces to design the exterior and interior of Bluegame’s BGM75. The pronounced, almost singular, and distinctive lines and palettes of the exterior allude to the spacious interior of the motor yacht, concealing areas and materials that have been selectively chosen and refined to suit the catamaran’s maximized space.

At the entrance, slabs of wood dot the platform, and tinted windows and doors conceal the interiors while creating a synchronously designed effect. Stairs lead up to the open-air upper deck where passengers can take in the landscape, and cabins inside the motor yacht are furnished with neutral elements alongside the strong presence of wood, rattan, and marble. Fogged-up glass partitions appear to divide the space without diminishing the sense of area size.

During the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023, Bluegame also unveiled BGH, a hydrogen-fueled vessel that floats beside BGM75. In collaboration with the New York Yacht Club American Magic, the chase boat follows the design restrictions of the America’s Cup protocol.

It calls for a boat of only 10 meters with only hydrogen propulsion and with foils that must achieve a speed of 50 knots and a range of 180 miles. All these elements emerge in the hydrogen vessel by Bluegame, which can be seen together with BGM75 at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023.

Bluegame unveils solar-powered multihull BGM75 in Cannes

Bluegame, a brand of Sanlorenzo , has unveiled a new multihull 22.7 metre model called the BGM75 at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

Designed to retain the appearance of a monohull with the benefits of a catamaran, the BGM75 offers increased stability, large volumes and reduced fuel consumption.

The yacht is the first of a new series of multihull yachts from Bluegame, which is called the BGM line.

The yacht’s design comes from Bernardo Zuccon and Piero Lisson, working on a hull form that was developed as the hydrogen-powered chase boat for the America’s Cup by Philippe Briand .

The hull form means the BGM75 requires 50 per cent less power than a monohull of the same volume and is built in carbon, with other lightweight materials used for all non-structural materials.

The yacht can also generate 5kW of green energy thanks to 56 solar panels that can be installed on the deckhouse.

The ethos of the yacht is a “motor yacht that by chance has not one hull, but two”, according to the yard. Additionally, the yacht aims to retain a "futuristic" look on the exterior while maximising the model's 8.5 metre beam.

Head of Product Strategy Luca Santell said the only limitation of the new model was being “true to [Bluegame’s] DNA”. 

He elaborated, saying the model has a “great hull design for a safe and comfortable ride, robust construction, well-protected sides, large beach areas open to the sea, generous front lounge areas, connected cockpits, optimised position of the helm station, great visibility, extremely easy manoeuvrability, superior quality, great attention to detail and understated elegance”.

The model is the first multihull design from both Sanlorenzo and Bluegame.

The Ameglia-based shipyard also took the opportunity of the Cannes Yachting to unveil a prototype model of the hydrogen-powered chase boat that would serve in the upcoming America's Cup.

Bluegame to build AC37 hydrogen powered chase boat

American magic partners with sanlorenzo and bluegame to design and build its zero emissions chase boat for barcelona 2024….

Bluegame, a  Sanlorenzo Group brand, and New York Yacht Club American Magic, challenger for the 37th America’s Cup to be held in Barcelona in 2024, sign an agreement for the design and construction of the team hydrogen-powered chase boat. 

For the first time, the 37th America’s Cup protocol requires each challenging team to build and operate two hydrogen- powered foiling chase boats that must be a minimum of 10 meters in length, reach a maximum speed of 50 knots, and possess a range of 180 miles. 

Less than a year ago, Bluegame parent company, Sanlorenzo, signed a strategic agreement with Siemens Energy to build the first 50-meter Superyacht with electricity generation using hydrogen and Fuel Cells, which will be launched in 2024.

Luca Santella, head of product strategy of Bluegame, comments: "I can hardly contain the emotion that arises from the recognition of Bluegame's design value, from the confirmation of the unconventional DNA of the brand, and the fascination exercised by this legendary competition on a former professional sailor like I was." 

Tyson Lamond, chief operations officer of American Magic, adds: "Bluegame is the perfect partner on this project, and we’re very excited to be at the forefront of innovation. We are optimistic that hydrogen-powered boats and the production of cleaner, more environmentally friendly technology will become a sustainable solution for the wider marine industry"

Barcelona will prove an ideal testing ground for the full range of designs from across the challengers. With all eyes on alternative fuels, for the superyacht sector, the racing will not be confined to the course.

New in 2020. a small sanlorenzo it’s the bluegame bgx70.

It’s new model from Bluegame: BGX70 wants to be an ideal extension of the Sanlorenzo range, mother company of the yard.

It wasn’t expected, or at least it had not been announced until the last minute, and yet here it is: the new Bluegame BGX70 . On the one hand, a new model (the largest) for the Bluegame shipyard. On the other, a bridge to the SX range of Sanlorenzo , of which Bluegame is part.

The design is the result of four-handed work between Luca Santella , design and strategy manager with Bluegame, and Zuccon International Project . The hull , as in the previous models of the Shipyard, is the work of Lou Codega .

And, like the smaller BG42 and 62, the Bluegame BGX70 targets demanding , and above all experienced , owners. So much so, that it does not hide the ambition of being de facto the smallest model in the SX range of Sanlorenzo , a Company to which Bluegame belongs since 2018.

In addition to the original lines and quality construction normally expected an such a yacht, the BGX70 offers owners a level of customization that, according to the Shipyard, is found normally on much larger units.

Another typical feature of the brand, and a focus of the Bluegame BGX70 project, is the amount of multi-purpose outdoor areas , granted by the layout. In this case, however, they match very well with equally welcoming indoor areas . Without creating a formal division, thanks to the large glazing of the superstructure which offers a 360-degree view, and the direct access from the beach area to the saloon and to the owner’s cabin.

While waiting to test it, we can anticipate that two units of BGX70 have already been sold before the presentation at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
