Tangy pickled shrimp are a great pairing with creamy fresh corn polenta

Fresh Corn Polenta with Pickled Shrimp brings together the sweetness of summer corn and the tangy notes of pickled shrimp.  This recipe offers a brighter twist on traditional comfort food. This take on polenta acts as an idyllic canvas for the zesty shrimp which are pickled and marinated in a myriad of ingredients which include, but are not limited to: rice wine vinegar, citrus, crushed red pepper flakes and garlic. It’s a perfect dish for highlighting popular ingredients that are used a lot in summer cooking. Creating the fresh corn polenta could not be more simple and only requires a few ingredients that you probably already have on hand. I first made this polenta a couple of weeks ago after I picked up some corn from a farmer’s market in the area. I was told that the corn had just been harvested the day prior from a farm here in Florida. The method for making the fresh corn polenta was something that I had been wanting to experiment with. It all starts by peeling the corn and then grating it with the large holes on a boxed grater. From there, the grated corn mixture is then simmered with a couple of pats of butter and some salt until the polenta thickens a bit. This process only takes about ten minutes. The polenta is then finished with a squeeze of fresh lime. Initially, I had planned to top the fresh corn polenta with poached lobster and some chive butter (which I will be trying soon), but then I found some inspiration for pickled shrimp from a recent episode of a food-related show on television (The Lost Kitchen, for those interested). The shrimp are first poached in some water, lemon and salt. Then, they are placed in a pickling mixture in the refrigerator for a few hours (and up to 24 hours). The pickling mixture makes for tangy and flavorful shrimp that not only work well on this polenta, but also with many other things. These shrimp would work well on some toasty sourdough, tossed in a salad, nestled in some rice or simply on their own as an easy appetizer. For the shrimp, I always strive to use wild caught, but use whatever you can find. Rollin’ Oats has great quality frozen shrimp by Baywinds and Wixter Seafood. Simply thaw the shrimp and devein them with the shells on if they aren’t already deveined (this is easier to do than you think – use a wooden skewer or toothpick, poke it through the side of the shrimp in the middle towards the top and slowly thread and pull the vein out – give it a google for a tutorial). You can also use shrimp that are already peeled and deveined too, but cooking the shrimp with their shell on adds to the flavor and prevents overcooking of the shrimp. Fresh Corn Polenta with Pickled Shrimp Recipe Put summer's fresh corn to good use with this fresh corn polenta recipe. The pickled shrimp add a zesty zing when served atop the creamy polenta. glass bowl or glass Tupperware Poaching the Shrimp12 shrimp (medium to large in size – shell on, but deveined (optional, you can use peeled shrimp if you prefer))6 cups water6 cups ice1 lemon (cut in half)2 1/2 tbsp saltPickling the Shrimp3/4 cup rice wine vinegar2 tbsp sugar2 garlic cloves (peeled and smashed)1/2 tsp crushed red pepper1 dried bay leaf1/2 cup olive oilt tsp worcestershire 1 tsp salt1/2 tsp hot sauce (use your preference – I usually opt for Diamond Crystal)1/2 lemon (sliced into small wedges)1/4 cup red onion (sliced thin)Fresh Corn Polenta4 ears corn (husk and silk removed)2 tbsp butter1/2 tsp salt (plus more to taste)1/2 limeDish Assemblymicro-greens (for garnish – fresh dill would work well too (optional)) Pickling the ShrimpAdd vinegar, sugar, garlic, crushed red pepper and bay leaf to a microwave-safe bowl or glass measuring cup. Grilled steak and avocado tacos

Picture this: a warm summer evening with a sizzling grill and the aroma of a perfectly cooked steak wafting through the air. These grilled steak and avocado tacos combine the smoky and rich character of grilled steak with the contrast of the lightly seared, yet smooth and creamy nature of the avocado. Though, the true star of the show is the gochujang-tahini sauce. It adds a unique and spicy kick to each bite. If you’ve never experience grilled avocado, welcome! It’s a summer dream. We eat at least one avocado per day in our household, mostly in smooth or salad from, so this expression of the fruit is a delight. If you’re really into spice, feel free to add more gochujang; though, you may need to thin the sauce out with more water. Street-style tacos (the smaller almost bite-size tortillas) are our preference, but you can use whatever tortillas you like. Rollin’ Oats has a supreme selection of both corn and flour tortillas that range in size. Additionally, you can also find grain-free tortillas that are made with almond flour, etc. from brands like Siete (a favorite of ours). When it comes to steak, everyone has their own preference. For this steak taco recipe, you can use whatever you like and prefer to cook. My preference is a New York Strip or a Ribeye, but if you prefer the latter, fret not – the cook time is the same. One non negotiable for me when it comes to steak, no matter the cut, is if it’s organic/grass-fed – that’s a requirement. Luckily, that is something that Rollin’ Oats also takes into consideration. They offer quality grass-fed and organic meats from brands like Thousand Hills and Dakota. Grilled Steak and Avocado Tacos with Gochujang-Tahini Recipe This is a less traditional take on a taco, but the combination of ingredients fully deliver with flavor. If you're really into spice, add as much Gochujang to the tahini sauce as desired. Gochujang-Tahini Sauce1/4 cup tahini1 1/2 tbsp gochujang2 tbsp water (plus 1 tsp, if needed)1 1/2 tsp salt (plus more, to taste)1 tsp rice wine vinegar1 lime (juice only)Steak & Taco Assembly1 avocado (ripe but still semi firm – cut into half moon slices)1 steak (New York strip or Ribeye)8 tortillas (for 2 tacos per person (use more if desired))1/4 cup white onion (diced)1/4 cup cilantro (roughly chopped (optional – scallions would also be great))2 tbsp olive oilsaltlime wedges (to serve, optional) Gochujang-Tahini SauceWhisk all ingredients together until smooth but drippy. Season with more salt as needed. Set Aside until ready to assemble tacos.Steak & Taco AssemblyOne hour (at least) before you plan to cook your steak, salt it heavily all over and place it on a plate. Refrigerate for one hour. Take it out to sit at room temperature 20 minutes before grilling.Heat grill to high for 15 minutes. Brush steaks all over with 1 tbsp olive oil and salt both sides. Grill steaks for 5 minutes, flip and grill for another 3-5 minutes for medium rare. Remove steaks from the grill, tent with foil and allow them to rest for 5-7 minutes. While the steaks rest, brush avocado slices with remaining 1 tbsp of olive oil and season with salt on both sides. Grill avocado slices for 5 minutes, flipping halfway through. After steak has rested, slice it against the grain. To assemble the tacos, top with 1-2 pieces of steak, avocado and onion. Drizzle the gochujang-tahini sauce on top and garnish with cilantro or scallions. Dinner, Main CourseAmerican, MexicanGrilled Steak & Avocado Tacos with Gochujang Tahini

Crispy chicken cutlets with charred peppers, hot honey and lots of chives

Elevate your next dinner situation with crispy chicken cutlets topped with charred sweet peppers, homemade hot honey and a shower of minced chives. It’s a crunchy, hot, sweet, tangy dish that is chock-full of flavor and certain to leave you full of happiness and content after consumption. This recipe takes classic chicken cutlets to a new level, offering a crispy and golden exterior that encases juicy and tender meat. The charred sweet peppers perfectly complement the sweet heat from the hot honey and make for the perfect cutlet accessories. Minced chives assist in making these crispy cutlets next level with their fresh and vibrant characteristics. If you can’t be bothered with making your own hot honey, Rollin’ Oats carries Mike’s hot honey which is superb. I promise you though, making your own hot honey is a breeze. I suggest making it with honey that is raw and/or organic. Each stovetop is different, so the cook time for the chicken will vary. Keep a close eye on the chicken while in the oil as they do brown and cook quickly. Our cutlets took approximately 1 1/2 minutes to cook on each side on our stove. If you’re looking for an additional side to pair with the cutlets, I recommend a light and fresh side like an arugula salad dressed in lemon and olive oil. Crispy Chicken Cutlets with Hot Honey Recipe Savor this delightful combination of crispy chicken cutlets, hot honey with a punch and charred mini sweet peppers for your next easy yet crowd-pleasing dinner. Hot Honey1/2 cup honey (preferably raw and organic )1 jalapeno (sliced into thin rounds)1 1/2 tbsp crushed red pepper1 tsp red wine vinegar1/4 tsp saltCharred Sweet Peppers1 cup mini sweet peppers (sliced into thin rounds)1 tbsp olive oil1/4 salt (I always use pink Himalayan )Chicken Cutlets2 chicken breasts (each one split to make 4 total chicken breast cutlets)1/2 cup olive oil (or other oil of choice)1 cup all purpose flour1 cup panko breadcrumbs1/3 cup parmesan cheese (finely grated)2 eggs1 tsp salt (plus more for seasoning)pepper1/4 cup chives (minced) Hot HoneyCombine honey, jalapeno and crushed red pepper in a small pot. Place the pot over medium heat. As soon as the pot comes to a gentle simmer, remove the pot from the heat and allow the chilis to infuse the honey for 15 minutes. Strain the honey mixture through a fine mesh sieve. Set aside until chicken is complete. Leftover honey can be stored in a container in the refrigerator for one week. Charred PeppersHeat oil in a large pot or dutch oven over medium high heat (this will be the same pot that you will fry the chicken in). Add the peppers and salt and saute for about 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pepper rings are charred. Remove peppers from heat and place in a bowl until ready to serve.Chicken Cutlets & PlatingOne at a time, place each cutlet between two pieces of plastic wrap. Place on a clean plate.Heat oil in the pot or dutch oven and heat over medium high heat. One at a time, fry each chicken cutlet for four minutes (1 1/2 to 2 minutes per side – keep a close eye on them), until cutlets are golden, crispy and cooked throgh.Place them on a wire rack that is stacked on a parchment-lined baking sheet. To serve, place a cutlet on a plate, top with some peppers, drizzle with hot honey and garnish with lots of chopped chives. Within walking distance of the Dali Museum and the Chihuly Exhibit, Stillwaters sits in the middle of the best of the St. Pete’s attractions ! Here you’ll find a modern American eatery with some of the most creative food, married perfectly with old-world flavors.

Stillwaters collaborates with local artisans and farmers to serve the best seasonal and locally sourced dishes with a twist. Start with the Apple-Bourbon Smoked St. Louis Ribs. The twist can be found in the fresh red cabbage, green apple, and carraway slaw on the side!

For entrees, try American favorites like Gulf Shrimp & Grits, the Cheesesteak French Dip, and the freshest Mahi Sandwich! Make sure to try the Tavern Sausages, all made in house with knockwurst, kielbasa, and lamb merguez!

At the heart of any tavern is its beer selection! Among the collection here you’ll find 20 beers, many of which are regionally crafted. You can also choose from an extensive wine and cocktail list. Two house wines and specialty cocktails are even on tap!

You’ll find Stillwaters Tavern at 224 Beach Drive NE. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 11:30 AM – 10 PM, Friday from 11:30 AM – 11 PM, Saturday from 11 AM – 11 PM, and Sunday from 11 AM – 9 PM. Happy Hour is 11 AM – 7 PM!

Bacchus Wine Bistro

A haven for foodies, enjoy the best wine, cheese, raclette, and charcuterie St. Pete has to offer! Named after bacchus, the god of wine, we think he would be proud of the wine and food in Saint Pete.

In a city growing and developing in modernity, Bacchus Wine Bistro remains a staple. Step into an oasis of old-world charm nestled in a bustling cityscape! The French farmhouse decor transports diners to a simpler time, where you can focus on what matters: good friends and good wine.

If this all sounds overwhelming, the knowledgable staff will guide you through a tastefully appointed menu. Choose from farm-fresh salads, sandwiches, and flatbreads. Our favorites are the Beet Carpaccio and the Pates, whether they be made from tuna, pork, or liver!

You can’t go to a wine bistro without building your own planche! Go down the savory route and choose from charcuteries like foie gras, cured sausages, salt-cured meats, and of course, well aged cheeses.

For a dessert planche, choose from a variety of truffles: sea salt caramel, raspberry, buttercreme, and more! Pair with specialties like the Belgian chocolate-covered Oreos and Chocolate Caramel Pretzels.

No charcuterie experience is complete without wine, so Baccus absolutely delivers! Their Wine Library, guarded by the Vitale Brothers’ Baccus mural, offers 100 selections from France, Italy, Spain, and the United States. Don’t be afraid to ask for help choosing.

Find Bacchus Wine Bistro at 124 2nd Ave NE. Hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 AM – 10 PM, Friday and Saturday from 11 AM – 11 PM. Happy Hour is 4 PM – 7 PM, every day!

Bella Brava

Since Bella Brava opened their doors in 2005, their main focus has been to bring the hills of Tuscany to the heart of St. Pete. This New World Trattoria serves some of the best food in Saint Pete!

Blending Italian cuisine with the New World urban vibe of Saint Pete, Bella Brava is less formal than a ristorante, but much more upscale than your average Italian joint. Wood stone ovens bring out the Tuscan twist on their menu, fusing classics with New World flair.

Choose between the freshest insalate, house-made pastas, and authentic, wood-fired pizzas. Our favorite dish is the Stuffed Gnocchi in Vodka sauce with roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, and Pecorino romano cheese!

Enjoy your meal in the open dining room or on the European-style patio. With a gigantic horseshoe-shaped bar, kick back and enjoy the longest Happy Hour on Beach Drive. You don’t even have to feel guilty about leaving your furry friend at home: dogs are welcome!

With an expansive wine menu, choose from selections all over the world, with a focus on Italian regional favorites. At the end of your meal, you’ll be saying Bella “Bravo!”

Find Bella Brava on 204 Beach Drive NE. Hours are Monday through Friday from 11:30 AM – 10 PM, Saturday from 11:30 AM – 11 PM, and Sunday from 11:30 AM – 9:30 PM.

Ichicoro Ane

Every foodie has that one restaurant they swear by. That one place they can’t wait to return to even though they just dined there last night. Serving up Japanese culinary magic and an innovative cocktail menu to make spirit geeks weep is one of the best downtown Saint Petersburg restaurants, Ichicoro Ane.

When you first walk in, you’ll see a glimpse of the ramen shop beyond the hostess stand. The dining room, cordoned off by minimalist blonde wood slats transports you to a different world. Just like its counterpart in Tampa, Ichicoro Ane’s simplicity knows exactly what its doing!

Start with the Chashyu Bao, light, airy steamed buns filled with either pork belly, chicken, or smoked beef. Then choose from four kinds of skewers: beef, chicken meatball, or shiitake mushroom or grilled corn for vegetarians.

The main star of the menu, and our favorite, is the Tuna poke. Salivate over large chunks of sushi-grade fish served with gochujang glaze (fermented red chili paste). Scoop it up with shrimp chips as the cucumber, sesame, and green scallions round out the flavors masterfully.

Stewards of the most elegant Japanese libations, the Drinking Den only serves eight cocktails, but each one packs a punch. Try the Black Mage which features activated charcoal amaro with IPA. The Genji Glove masterfully blends white rum with matcha!

Find Ichicoro Ane on 261 1st Ave S from Tuesday through Thursday from 3 – 10 PM, Friday from 3 -11 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM – 11 PM. The Drinking Den’s late night hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 10 PM – 12 AM and Friday and Saturday from 11 PM – 1 AM.

Datz is an American gastropub that elevates your average comfort food. Described as “if Willy Wonka owned a restaurant,” Datz is no doubt one of the best restaurants in Saint Petersburg.

Even Food Network has profiled Datz as one of the best restaurants in Tamps responsible for championing the gastronomic revival. Datz also offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Datz  features a highly eclectic menu that puts original spins on your favorite American classics. You’ll first receive a complimentary popcorn basket! Afterward, try the Chicken-skin Tacos, or Bacon and Jalapeno Mac and Cheese with Sriracha aioli. Our favorite is the Short Rib Sloppy Joes.

Afterward, grab an unforgettable Bacon Bloody Mary. Then, head next door to Dough. The sister-bakery offers the craziest sweets like Creme Brulee and Froot Loop Donuts, homemade gelato, and delicate French Macarons.

Datz can be found on 180 Central Ave. Hours are Monday through Thursday 7 AM – 10 PM, Fridays 7 AM -11 PM, Saturday 8:30 AM -11 PM, and Sunday 8:30 – 9 PM.

Spinner’s Rooftop Revolving Bistro

For the most romantic date night , take your significant other to Spinner’s Rooftop Revolving Bistro! On the 12th floor of the Grand Plaza Resort Hotel and Spa , you’ll find the only revolving restaurant in Florida!

In the most romantic ambiance, enjoy the best of St. Pete fine dining. At Spinner’s you’ll truly “elevate” your experience, creating memories you’ll be talking about long after dessert is served.

Spinner’s actually revolves a full 360 degrees. Don’t worry, it doesn’t move too fast! As you slowly rotate, you’ll appreciate an unparalleled bird’s eye view of St. Pete lit up at night, the Bay, and the beautiful beaches of St. Pete .

Start with the Shrimp Ceviche made with fresh mangoes and chiles or Blackened Scallops with caramel ginger-preserved prickly pear glaze. Move on to an entree menu with the best of Florida seafood and premium-aged steaks. Our favorites are the Spaghetti Squash Primavera and the Soy Lacquered Chilean Seabass.

Finish the evening with a tropical cocktail menu, with a sophisticated representation of Florida. Choose between drinks like the Coconut Mango Mojito, Carribean Rum Punch, or the Signature Spinners 75, the Florida take on the French 75. There’s also a wide variety of wines and champagnes, available both by the glass and the bottle.

Spinner’s Rooftop Revolving Bistro can be found on the 12th floor of the Grand Plaza Resort Hotel at 5250 Gulf Blvd. Dine on Wednesdays through Sundays from 5 – 10 PM.

One of the newest additions to the downtown Saint Petersburg restaurant scene is The Mill. A must-try restaurant, The Mill specializes in New American food with a Southern spin.

Since opening in 2015, The Mill has already raked in multiple prestigious awards like Best New Restaurant in Florida by Florida Trend Magazine. Chef Ted Dorsey also took home the coveted Best Chef Award in Creative Loafing’s Best of the Bay and the SPDNA Sunshine Award in 2016 for Best Fine Dining.

Start with classic Southern staples like Fried Green Tomatoes, Apple Fritters, and Biscuits & Gravy. Share a plate off the slider menu with options like Grilled Cheese, Pickled Peach BBQ Grilled Chicken Club, or the Mill Sliders with bacon, pimento cheese, and caramelized onion aioli.

Make sure you’ve saved room for the main event. The Sausage and Waffle Benny is topped with fried green tomatoes and a gumbo file hollandaise! The iconic Croque Madame has gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, and mustard aioli on challah.

A festive and whimsical cocktail list includes the Post H20 Malone, el Duderino, and the Carrot & Schtick. Our favorite is their take on the Old Fashioned with uses orange and chocolate bitters.

Dine at the Mill on 200 Central Avenue on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 AM – 9 PM, Fridays from 11 AM – 10 PM, Saturday from 10 AM – 10 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM – 9 PM. Try weekend brunch on the weekends from 10 AM – 4 PM!

Boardwalk Grill

In the early 2000s, Stuart Saltzman brought his twenty years of experience in bar management to Clearwater Beach. Seeking to elevate the sports bar game in St. Pete, he did just that at the Boardwalk Grill at John’s Pass Boardwalk!

A recreation of the Jersey Shore right here in Clearwater Beach, Boardwalk Grill is glitzy, yet laid-back. Everybody enjoys the feel of a boardwalk, from the fun to the games, and especially the food. Like a museum , the inside borrows elements from all over the country, not just the Jersey Shore.

Saltzman brought two secret recipes down with him from the Garden State: the hot wings and the Grouper Sandwich. They’re the real deal, each scoring “best of” awards in New Jersey. Don’t forget the unbeatable Lobster Rolls, Fish Tacos, and juiciest burgers on the beach!

After you’ve eaten, hang out on the patio for the cheapest beer on the boardwalk with stunning Gulf views. The full bar features 16 draft and 25 bottled beers with more than a dozen wines. Pull up a chair, you might even get a chance to meet Stu!

Check out the Boardwalk Grill on 204 John’s Pass Boardwalk every day from 10 AM – 9 PM.

Hurricane Seafood Restaurant

Don’t be fooled by the ominous name, the Hurricane isn’t so much a catostrophic weather event. It is a force of nature delivering some of the best nightlife and food in Saint Pete Beach! Just like the storm, the Hurricane is hard to miss: look for the bright green building on the corner.

42 years after its opening, the Hurricane has remained a popular destination for both locals and tourists from all over the world! Still operated by the founders, the Falkenstein Family serves the freshest Gulf seafood in a casual island setting.

The Hurricane offers three floors of dining space, each with its own menu. The ground level features the original Hurricane menu, including “Mom’s 1945 Crabcake Melt.” On the beachfront Level 2, enjoy pork potstickers, peel and eat shrimp, and a mahi fish spread, all while taking in million-dollar views.

On the Rooftop South Deck Bar, share the Wing Ding Basket or Landshark Beer-Battered Shrimp Basket. If you still have room in your stomach, have all-day breakfast with a massive two-egg sandwich with your choice of meat, bread, and cheese.

Brave the Hurricane at 809 Gulf Way on Sundays through Thursdays from 11 AM – 9:30 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 AM – 10 PM.

Jubilee’s BBQ

Formerly known as Rib City, this locally-beloved franchise rebranded itself in 2019 for a more festive name! Now, Jubilee’s BBQ is still the original location for the eponymous Florida chain. One of the best restaurants in Saint Petersburg, you won’t find juicier and smokier ribs anywhere else in the Bay area!

At Jubilee’s the meat falls right off the bone, its so tender! In a homey, warm atmosphere, don’t be afraid to get down and dirty with this barbecue! Don’t worry, Jubilee’s BBQ provides wipes when you’re finished.

Jubilee’s full menu features barbecued meats paired with specialized sauces. Choose from side dishes including made-from-scratch baked beans and coleslaw, as well as collard greens, corn pudding, and macaroni and cheese.

Jubilee’s BBQ also serves locally crafted Saint Pete favorite 3 Daughters Brewery Beer. Make sure you’ve saved room for a frosty pint to wash down your meal!

Sea Porch Cafe

Locals know the historic pink building in St. Pete Beach to be the Don Cesar, one of the best resort spas in Florida . Just inside, you’ll find the Sea Porch Cafe, one of the best restaurants in Saint Petersburg.

The Don Cesar is known for its extravagance, and their restaurants are no exception. At the Sea Porch Cafe, you’ll find fresh Gulf seafood and local comfort foods in this seaside dining haven. Perfect for a relaxed breakfast, lunch, or dinner, choose between comfortable indoor seating, or outdoor dining with the smell of the coastal breeze.

To really feel swanky, gather at the Pink Palace for a Sunday Funday at the Sunday Champagne Brunch. Then meet friends at the Rowe bar for a classic mint julep or hand-crafted spiked lemonade!

Pamper yourself at the Sea Porch Cafe at the Don Cesar at 3400 Gulf Blvd, open every day from 7 AM – 10 PM.

Locals know that the St. Petersburg Pier was under construction for what felt like forever. Today a sleek, modern design reflects the city’s bustling development, including one of the best new restaurants in Saint Petersburg, Teak.

With a nautical-themed menu crafted by the top chefs in the Bay Area, you can immerse yourself in the most serene setting atop the Pier. Bask in the tranquil ambiance complete with 360 degree views of the entire bay.

Start your elevated culinary journey with Conch Beignets, Boiled-Peanut Hummus, and Shucked Oysters, all inspired by Florida classics you can find at seafood shacks and stands on the side of the road.

For heavier entrees, you’ll find only the best of Florida surf and turf. Choose from Florida Yard Bird, roasted in jezebel sauce, or the 12 oz NY Strip! For a bit of everything, get the Summer Rental Platter with popcorn coconut shrimp, mahi bites, fried oysters, and more!

Experience Teak on the 4th floor of the new St. Pete Pier at 800 2nd Ave NE from Sunday through Thursday from 11 AM – 10 PM, and Friday and Saturday from 11 AM – 11 PM.

The St. Pete Pier, where Teak sits on the fourth floor.

Brick and Mortar

A newer edition to the St. Pete dining scene, Brick and Mortar got its name from its journey to existence! It’s rare for caterers to take the plunge into opening a full restaurant, but in April of 2015, that’s just what happened.

Brick and Mortar fills an unusual niche in St. Pete. It’s upscale, but not expensive, inventive, but not gimmicky. The menu features Indonesian and Spanish touches in an interesting twist on New American, making it some of the best food in Saint Pete.

Our favorite appetizer is the Ahi Tartare with avocado, ponzu, and sesame with shrimp crackers for scooping. If that seems intimidating, don’t worry. You’ll also find homey and even kid-friendly meals.

Try the Slow-braised Oxtail or the Crispy-skinned Airline Chicken Breast with carrots and crispy fingerling potatoes!

The ambitious beer and wine list mixes both local and nationally known craft beers on draft and in bottles. Be delighted by the choices of old and new world wines available by the glass and bottle!

Check out Brick and Mortar on 539 Central Avenue on Tuesdays from 5 – 9 PM, Wednesday and Thursday from 5 – 10 PM, Friday from 4:30 – 11 PM, and Saturday from 4:30 – 11 PM.

Sure, you’ve grabbed a quick meal before or after a flight in a crowded airport. Can you say that you’ve gone to an airport just for a meal? Inside the Albert Whitted Airport, you’ll find this hidden gem , one of the best restaurants in Saint Petersburg.

The Hangar describes itself as not only a restaurant but a flight lounge. In downtown St. Pete, the Hangar hides in an airport, but its location affords diners an unbeatable view. Not only do you have a bird’s eye view of the bay, you’ll be delighted seeing plane and helicopter activity on the tarmac!

You won’t find the usual airport fare here. A true fine-dining experience, you’ll be wowed with exceptional pasta dishes, gigantic sandwiches, and small plates you won’t want to share!

Stop by on Friday Nights to hear the smooth stylings of the Dwayne White Trio. Kick back and enjoy the smooth jazz that cements the elegant ambiance.

Because the Hangar is in an airport, of course they serve breakfast! The award-winning menu serves eggs cooked in endless ways: benedict, florentine, southern benedict, in omelettes, and even the Wheels Up Bowl. Don’t forget jumbo waffles and pancakes!

Land at the Hangar inside the Alfred Whitted Airport at 540 1st Street S from 8 AM – 11 PM daily!

The airplanes and tarmac are visible from the dining room of the Hangar!

Inside the Ponce de Leon Hotel, you’ll find a Spanish chain outpost that serves up the best tapas in the Bay area. The closest thing to visiting Spain, Ceviche serves the best authentic Spanish food in Saint Pete.

If you’ve ever been to Barcelona, you’ll be familiar with the locals’ laid-back and delicious approach to life. As you gather over tapas, or small plates, you’ll taste the magic of the Iberian Coast without having to hop across the pond.

Ceviche’s authentic tapas menu is expansive and caters to all tastes. Start with the house ceviche, a perfect marriage of shrimp, scallops, and squid. You can’t miss the Pollo al Jerez either, chicken in pesto and sherry cream.

Vegetarians will also appreciate the Baba Ganoush, starring meaty eggplant, or the Hummus Dip made with garbanzo beans and tahini. Don’t forget the Patatas Bravas, potatoes in a spicy aioli!

The 10 Best Restaurants In St. Pete, FL

600 5th Street South | 727-369-9969

With something for everyone at any time of day, The Library brings breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch to the campus of Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. Classy and upscale while comfortable and cozy, the library-inspired restaurant touts itself as a “reprieve from daily chaos.”

In addition to kale, arugula, noodle, and spinach salads, The Library offers custom salads for which you can choose a base, mix-ins, a protein, and dressing. Topping field greens, bacon, apple, and goat cheese with a light balsamic glaze will give you a salad big enough to share.

St. Petersburg restaurants

The Shaved Sirloin sandwich on a fresh, chewy ciabatta roll is full of steak and topped with roasted peppers, cheese, and The Library’s secret Peabody Sauce. The crispy onion straws add a nice crunch.

It seems as though cauliflower is on menus everywhere these days, and the Benne Cauliflower (roasted cauliflower with crispy garlic, spices, and chili sauce) appetizer at The Library will make you wonder how the vegetable can taste so good.

roasted cauliflower

The Crispy Avocado Wedges, something I’ve never tried, is crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. They’re so tasty that they don’t even need the sambal ginger aioli that accompanies them.

Sunday brunch St Pete

Our next visit will be for their famous weekend brunch to try the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes topped with fresh berries, warm maple syrup, and sweet cream or the Avocado Toast. There’s something about creamy whipped avocado that sounds so inviting.

St Petersburg Florida restaurants

The Library is open daily with seating inside or out, and their walk-up counter offers coffee, pastries, and tea.  Make sure that you “book” on over to one of the best St. Petersburg restaurants.  Give The Library a visit- you can’t go wrong!

10 Beach Dr. NE | (727) 209-2299

I love a good tapas restaurant, and St. Petersburg restaurants do have a winner.

Located near the water, Ceviche offers so many dishes; over fifty hot and cold plates, so you might have a hard time choosing. Do yourself a favor and order a sangria—voted St. Pete’s best—while you study the menu.

Ceviche St Petersburg

Since I don’t eat fish, I can’t suggest trying their ceviche or paella, but the tapas are another story.

table full of food with paella in the center

Start with the Caesar salad; it’s mixed greens, cucumbers, olives, peppers, red onions, tomatoes, and feta tossed in a lemon-honey vinaigrette and is a light way to begin your visit.

If you like spicy, try the Queso de Cabra, a baked goat cheese covered with tomato sauce. Keep your sangria handy as you’ll need it to balance the heat in this dish.

The Patatas Bravas, delicious and perfectly crisp potato chunks covered with spicy aioli, while not as hot as the queso, are just this side of being very spicy.

Ceviche St Petersburg

The Spanish Pork Ribs, dusted with smoked paprika, are simply delicious, and the Chuletas de Cordero (lamb chops) are not gamey at all. As tapas , these small plates are perfect for sharing.

Ceviche is open daily. If the weather is nice, sit on the patio so you can enjoy the water views and the food in one of the best St. Petersburg restaurants.

437 Central Ave. | (727) 898-4300

Located on Central Avenue in the Downtown area, Tropez calls itself “…an entertaining neighborhood spot with an extensive menu made for sharing.” A relative newcomer to the St. Petersburg food scene, the restaurant is a nominee for the Best New Restaurant in the St. Petersburg Foodies Restaurant Awards.

Their menu, much of which is geared toward sharing, is full of plates from all around the world but with their own Tropez twist.

If you head in with a group, be sure to try the Mediterranean Sampler, a mix of hummus, tabbouleh, baba ganoush, and cucumber raita, and my two favorites—Jamon con Dates and Patatas Bravas. Where most places stuff the dates with almonds and wrap them in bacon, Tropez stuffs with smoked almonds and bleu cheese and wraps them with Serrano ham before cooking. In addition to being less greasy than the bacon-wrapped variety, these dates offer a perfect mix of sweet and salty with a slight crunch from the almond.

Croque Monsieur sandwich

The Patatas Bravas seemed to be roasted, not fried, and the spicy tomato aioli sauce is not overly spicy.

tater tots covered in melted cheese

When we went for brunch, we shared both the Eggs Benedict and the Organic Field Greens salad. Candied walnuts, goat cheese, and dried cranberries accompany the field greens, all tossed with a delicious pumpkin seed walnut vinaigrette.

The guests at the neighboring table enjoyed Nutella and Bacon Stuffed French Toast (with caramelized bananas) and Baklava Pancakes—buttermilk-walnut pancakes topped with pistachio streusel, whipped honey ricotta, and mint-infused maple syrup. I’d order either in a heartbeat.

St Petersburg restaurants

Tropez has outdoor seating, and they offer numerous specials throughout the week. If you are looking for a global twist in your food, Tropez is one of the top restaurants to try in St. Petersburg.  They are closed on Mondays.

After experiencing Tropez’s global flavors, delve into more culinary treasures with our ‘ Best Restaurants in Downtown St Pete ‘ article, showcasing a variety of must-visit dining spots in the city center!

662 Central Avenue | 727-290-6211

Also located on Central Avenue in Downtown St. Pete, Maple Street Biscuit Company offers breakfast and lunch comfort foods in an unpretentious setting. Their namesake biscuits, made daily from all-natural ingredients, are light, flaky, and delicious.

Try their signature Squawking Goat, a biscuit sandwich topped with fried chicken, a fried goat cheese medallion, and homemade pepper jelly. I suggest having the jelly on the side, so your sandwich isn’t swimming in it.

brunch St Petersburg

The Chicken Club—fried chicken, bacon, lettuce, and tomato—and the Five-and-Dime—the club but with cheese and a fried egg topping it—both come with your choice of dressing.

The biscuits and gravy come with a choice of either their homemade sausage gravy or shiitake mushroom gravy, both of which have a bit of a kick. With any of their biscuits or bowls, you can add them aside. Try the Three Layer Cake, a hash-brown cake with Gouda cheese and topped with gravy and a fried egg.

brunch St Petersburg

None of this is diet food, but if you are trying to be calorie conscious, order one of their salads. My favorite is the Grazer, a combination of spinach, goat cheese, and strawberries with your choice of dressing. You can add protein to any salad for an extra charge.

You’ll order at the counter, and instead of giving you a number, they’ll ask a question of the day (Who is your favorite fictional character?). They’ll call out your answer (Minnie Mouse) when your food is ready.

fried chicken breakfast biscuit

Maple Street Biscuit Company is open only for breakfast and lunch, and hours vary by location.  If you are looking for a downtown St. Petersburg eatery, head to the Maple Street Biscuit for some amazing comfort food. Your taste buds will thank you!

2909 22nd Avenue N | 727-321-2400

Drive up to Mazzaro’s Italian Market, and you might think you’re in Sicily.

St Petersburg food

As a go-to spot for everything Italian, Mazzaro’s offers fresh-baked bread and pastries, fresh meat and produce, cheese, handmade pasta, beer, wine, gourmet coffee, and more. But, stuck in the middle of the large market are their deli and coffee bar.

St Pete Italian market

In addition to daily entrees, the deli offers twenty-seven different sandwiches, both hot and cold. Try the Hot (both in temperature and taste) Italian that features ham, pepperoni, salami, provolone, banana peppers, and lettuce on their own bread.

The other sandwiches that caught my attention were the Meatballs With Sauce and Provolone, the Eggplant Parmesan, and the Italian Roasted Pork.

On their ever-changing menu, Mazzaro’s also has a hot sandwich of the week, a panini of the day, and plenty of cold salads all at a reasonable price. Once you choose something to eat, head to their outdoor tables to enjoy your food.

St Pete Italian restaurant

But save room for dessert!  Stop at the bakery to pick up a cannoli, eclair, biscotti. or mini-pie as a sweet ending for your meal.

Mazzaro’s is open Monday through Saturday. Locals and tourists alike flock here, and it does get crowded. As it is one of the most popular restaurants, I recommend planning your visit accordingly.  For a taste of Italy, this is one of the best restaurants in St. Petersburg.

199 Central Avenue | 727-565-4064

When it comes to pizza, I’m a bit of a snob. I like the crust to be thin but not see-through, chewy but not gummy, and flavorful, not bland. The sauce should taste more of tomato than garlic, and there should be enough of it and the toppings to enhance the crust. Oak & Stone ticks all the boxes.

Oak & Stone offers fifteen custom-craft pizzas that include everything from the Classic topped with sauce, cheese, and basil to the All The Way topped with sauce, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, black olives, mozzarella, and Parmesan. They take a classic pepperoni pizza up a notch by topping it with both crispy and diced pepperoni.

pizza with fried egg on top

If you want something a little different, try the Popeye, a classic pizza topped with spinach, roasted red peppers, ricotta, and prosciutto.

For something very different, order the Mac ’n Cheese, beer-cheese-covered crust topped with cavatappi pasta, bacon, caramelized onions, and a cheddar cheese blend.

best pizza St Petersburg Florida

Oak & Stone encourages guests to build their own pies, too. Start with the basic crust and mozzarella; you can choose your sauce (red, garlic, herbed oil) and add any number of toppings that include everything from a variety of cheeses, vegetables, and proteins.

For beer lovers, Oak & Stone features a self-serve brew wall where you can choose from more than twenty-five brews you pour by ounce, including craft beer. Get your RFID bracelet from your server (restrictions apply), cruise the 40+ selections on the brew wall, and pour.

bacon burger with fried egg on top and a side of fries

Open daily, Oak & Stone has a $9 pizza, salad, and soft drink special. The restaurant also features daily happy hour from 2-6 pm ($2 off pizzas and 25% off the beer wall), and Ladies’ Night. Both indoor and outdoor dining is available!

If your tastes run to pizza and beer, then Oak & Stone is the perfect spot to visit in St. Pete!

101 1st St SE  | 727-321-8855

When weekends arrive, we head down to the Saturday Morning Market at the Al Lang Stadium parking lot downtown.

In addition to the produce, food, craft, and artisan booths,  area restaurants, including Habana Cafe, and food trucks serve a variety of fresh, ready-to-eat meals.

While the market location can’t offer everything on the restaurant’s menu, what they do offer is some of the best Cuban food I’ve ever had.

The Pork Sandwich, full of slow-roasted pork covered with grilled onions and mojo sauce on Cuban bread melts in your mouth.

Try the Cuban Sandwich—sweet ham, roast pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard pressed on Cuban bread—or a side of black beans, spiced just right. The mojo sauce adds a lot of heat, so if you use it, use it sparingly.

Cuban sandwich Holland MI restaurants

I can’t wait to go to their brick-and-mortar location (5402 Gulfport Blvd. S) to try the Arroz con Pollo a la Chorrera (chicken cooked with Valencia rice in beer and wine) and their award-winning cheesecake flan.  For a Latin flair, this is one of the best restaurants in St. Pete!

190 37th Ave N | 727.898.8226

My son and daughter-in-law eat fresh and love to go out for brunch, so it follows that they took me to Ciccio for my birthday.  Almost hidden on the corner of a large, shopping plaza, the restaurant offers bowls, tacos, wraps, munchies, and pizzas that will appeal to almost all tastes at any hour of the day.

table full of pizza, salad and egg rolls

The Power Avocado—scrambled eggs, sautéed spinach, smashed avocado, and melted cheddar cheese on grilled sourdough—was light yet filling. I do think, however, that it needed a touch of protein to add a bit more flavor; perhaps crumbled bacon or grilled ham would infuse enough flavor.

If you want a kick of heat, try the Tex-Mex Bowl. Black beans, tomato, cheese, guacamole, chipotle sour cream, and crispy jalapeño slices top scrambled eggs.  If you aren’t in the mood for the bowl, try the Border Wrap, which has the same basic ingredients and chorizo in a wrap.

vegetable noodle bowl

The Cali Bowl is a cooler option; with scrambled eggs, grilled chicken, crumbled bacon, and Swiss cheese, the Cali has a crown of homemade guacamole.  The California Club, accompanied by honey mustard dressing, is the wrap version of the Cali Bowl.

table full of tacos

The next time I visit Ciccio Cali, I’m not going to eat for two days so I can try the San Fran Pretzel French Toast. As light as it may be, sweet cream cheese stuffed pretzel that is battered with egg, fried, and topped with whipped cream and strawberries has to have more calories than I need.

Ciccio Cali is open daily and has both indoor and outdoor seating. There are other locations in the Tampa Bay area, but make sure to visit this St. Petersburg restaurant.

183 2nd Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, United States // +17278737964

Dive deep into the heart of St. Petersburg, and you’ll discover a gem – Sea Salt. The establishment’s impressive 22-foot wine tower is a testament to its expansive collection, promising a pairing for every discerning palate.

Not to be overshadowed, the grandeur of its 80-foot raw bar is an unmistakable hint of the seafood spectacle that lies in wait.

Our culinary journey began with a tender octopus starter, graced with a punchy, tangy dressing that danced on our tongues. However, the true essence of the ocean was encapsulated in the Oysters.

Their drinks menu? Think of it as an art exhibit where every cocktail is a masterpiece. Beyond mere mixing, the beverages tell tales, with every pour and stir reflecting the bartender’s finesse. They’re narratives you’ll want to savor. But besides their signature cocktails, we can’t forget to mention their extensive wine list.

The décor mirrors a maritime fantasy realm. Think of interiors with a refined touch, offset by the casual charm of open-air seating. Together, they create an atmosphere where sophistication meets relaxation.

The brilliance of Sea Salt lies not only in its mouthwatering menu but also in its commitment to excellence. Each dish is a tribute to fresh produce and culinary creativity. And when the final fork is set down, there’s a collective sense of gastronomic delight.

In the grand tapestry of St. Petersburg’s dining scene, Sea Salt is the perfect place for seafood lovers, with amazing seafood options that stand out from the rest!

eh, ALL of them.

Once I got to the Oak and Stone I knew you had to have gotten paid by these places to make these recommendations. If you truly believe these are some of the best restaurants in St Pete I don’t believe I’d like to go to dinner with you. You must also be getting a cut from some of the area’s cardiac surgeons and hospitals. Very few of your recommendations served healthy food. Thanks, but no thanks.

I've never been paid by a restaurant to have them placed on a list and to falsely say so is both slanderous and libel. If you don't find the choices to be health focused you might notice the title isn't "8 Best Healthy Restaurants in St. Petersburg"...

The 13 Best Restaurants in St Petersburg

By Chris Boyle

You can dispel any unfavorable ideas you may have of Russian cooking; St Petersburg is packed full of interesting and diverse restaurants.

The dining scene is a mixture of traditional restaurants recreating the atmosphere of Imperial Russia and modern, trendy establishments appealing to the new generation of affluent Russians.

Francesco

Cuisine: Italian

Francesco was the first real Italian family restaurant in St Petersburg. The restaurant’s menu is designed in a peculiar way.

It consists of exclusively original home recipes which distinguishes it from other restaurants. It is not only the rare spices but also the spirit of sunny Italia that add to the flavor of each dish.

The heart of the restaurant is its warm atmosphere. The restaurant resembles a cozy dining room perfect for gathering together relatives and family friends. Francesco is first and foremost a large hospitable house with its own well-loved and time-honored traditions. The interior of Francesco was created by the Instudio design studio in Moscow, with furniture brought specially from Italy. Everything represents the concept of the establishment with its unique homelike coziness – large soft couches, beautiful chairs, mirrors in heavy hand-made wooden frames, golden candlesticks and wrought iron lamps.

Francesco is a place where you can find delicious meals, celebrate glorious events and feel part of a big friendly family.

This elegant and sophisticated establishment provides exemplary classical French cuisine to the city’s wealthy patrons, who turn up for the intimate atmosphere and classy décor which perfectly complements the fine food on offer. As you would expect from a top-class eatery, the wine list is excellent and the service impeccable. The restaurant also offers a fantastic breakfast menu for those who like to start their day with some delicious French cuisine. A place for romantics, this restaurant is as popular with critics as it is with the well-to-do Russian society.

L’EUROPE RESTAURANT

Cuisine: Haute

Style / Ambiance: One of the leading restaurants in St Petersburg, L’Europe melds elegant turn-of-the-century décor with impeccable haute cuisine.

Located in the lavish Grand Hotel Europe, the restaurant has established a reputation for dining excellence. The sumptuous dishes on offer blend European and Russian cuisine, and combined with the fantastic Art Nouveau interior, create a dining experience fit for a Tsar. Live music, including the trademark Tchaikovsky night which takes place every Friday, makes for a memorable dining experience. Don’t miss the spectacular Sunday caviar and champagne brunch, an event which attracts the city’s elite.

MIX

Style / Ambiance: The announcement that world-famous chef Alain Ducasse would be opening a miX restaurant at the W St Petersburg hotel was met with widespread enthusiasm from the city’s food critics.

The arrival of a top-class chef meant that the city could be now considered as a center of culinary excellence, which will in turn encourage restaurateurs to establish themselves in St Petersburg. MiX restaurant blends art and contemporary design to create a stylish atmosphere that appeals to a young, trendy crowd, while the large chandelier and open kitchen add to the sense of modern luxury. The food is French Cuisine, and unsurprisingly of a high quality.

Cuisine: Japanese / Italian

Style / Ambiance: As a popular destination for the city’s social elite, Ginza is one of the trendiest restaurants in St Petersburg.

The restaurant offers an eclectic mix of Japanese and Italian food, with a primary emphasis on Japanese culinary influences, although traditional recipes have been tweaked to perfectly suit European tastes. Since it opened in 2003, the restaurant has been the choice of the St Petersburg jet set with a taste for high-quality food. The atmosphere of the restaurant is laid-back, with a simple interior design and friendly staff. It’s not just fine dining on offer at Ginza, however; the restaurant has been known to throw some of the hottest parties in St Petersburg.

TALEON RESTAURANT

Taleon Restaurant

Cuisine: Modern European

Style / Ambiance: With the reputation of a threetime winner of the most luxurious restaurant in St Petersburg, you could be forgiven for expecting something a little special from the Taleon.

After all, in a city well known for its opulence, luxury in St Petersburg has a different meaning to that of other cities. Thankfully, the Taleon club does not disappoint; the rooms are inspired by the reign of Louis XVI and the Russian Empire, and with renaissance paintings hung on the ornate walls, the grandeur of the room would have suited Catherine the Great herself. Chef Alexander Dregolsky provides innovative European fare, presented beautifully by the immaculately attentive staff. The wine list is one of the finest in the city, and includes several fine cognacs and cigars. It is worth visiting the restaurant during the day; the Sunday morning caviar, lobster and champagne brunch is famous throughout the city.

RUSSKAYA RYBALKA

Cuisine: Fish

Style / Ambiance: Russkaya Rybalka or the ‘Russian Fishing’ restaurant is one of the most charming eateries in St Petersburg.

Set in a picturesque wooden hut overlooking a lake teeming with fish, guests catch their own dinner. Trout, sturgeon, carp, crayfish and starlet are among the options, and once caught the chef will prepare it for you in a number for different ways, such as smoked or baked on charcoal. Bait, tackle, rods and expert advice are all provided by the friendly staff, and the restaurant also offers the option of renting small heated wooden huts as well as eating in the main building. Fishing is even possible in the winter due to heated pools, and there are plenty of fish in the restaurant for those unlucky enough not to catch something. The restaurant’s atmosphere is fun and family-oriented, and the food is delicious, homecooked fare of such a standard that Vladimir Putin and Jacques Chirac have both been guests.

Uzhnaya Doroga 11, Krestovsky Ostrov

www.russian-fishing.ru

Cuisine: Traditional Russian

Style / Ambiance: Naming a lavish, luxurious restaurant in St Petersburg Tsar may be akin to naming a similarly-styled eatery in London Queen Victoria’s, but fortunately this restaurant is not another attempt to recreate the splendor of the Tsarist times.

While the décor of the restaurant will bring to mind late 19th and early 20th century Russia, the enthusiasm of the waiting staff and the innovative menu help to transform the restaurant into a welcoming and classy dining facility. Elegant, sophisticated food is on offer with a modern twist, and clientele inside are usually cigar-smoking businessmen completing multi-million dollar deals and stylish women dressed in the latest fashions. The wine list has been expertly concocted by the sommelier, and there’s even the option to try vodka the way Alexander III preferred. The success of the restaurant lies in that it does not make you feel like a Tsar, more like the modern equivalent.

Sadovaya Street, 12

Cuisine: Fusion

Style / Ambiance: Situated in one of the trendier districts of St Petersburg and with a roof top view to rival Bellevue, the Terrassa is one of the city’s most stylish restaurants.

A place to see and be seen, the restaurant is supremely elegant, providing guests the chance to dress to impress, and many other guests will be clad in the latest fashions of Russia’s cultural capital. The food is an exciting blend of fusion cuisine and traditional European, and with the open plan kitchen, it is possible to watch the dishes being prepared. The wine list and service are equally excellent. Popular with locals and visitors alike, it is always best to book ahead at Terrassa; the top seats near the windows provide stunning views over the Kazansky Cathedral, and while sitting on the terrace that the restaurant is named for may not always be possible in the colder months, it provides a delightful option in the summer.

DAVIDOV RESTAURANT

Cuisine: European / Russian

Style / Ambiance: As with many of the top restaurants in St Petersburg, Davidov provides contemporary European fare alongside traditional Russian dishes.

What sets the Davidov apart is the culinary attention to detail; traditional European and Russian dishes are transformed into exquisite delicacies worthy of the elite of Russian society. Trendy yet sophisticated, the elegant décor is based around simple, pale colors and comfortable furnishings. With an excellent wine list and wonderful views over the majestic St Isaac’s Square, the Davidov is popular with the St Petersburg elite.

Bolshaya Morskaya, 39, 190000

www.thehotelastoria.com

Cuisine: Mediterranean / Russian

Style / Ambiance: The Bellevue may just be the most aptly named restaurant in the whole of Russia.

Situated at the top of the Hotel Moika 22 Kempinksi, the restaurant boasts an unparalleled view over some of the finest buildings in the city; the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, the Hermitage Museum, the golden-dome of St Isaac’s Cathedral and the Church on Spilled Blood are all visible from the breathtaking 360-degree window. The food is just as spectacular as the view; Chef Philippe Boussert mixes classic European fare with Asian influences in addition to more traditional Russian dishes. The wine list is impressive and the décor modern.

Cuisine: Traditional Russia

Style / Ambiance: One of the oldest restaurants in St Petersburg is also easily one of the city’s finest.

The modern day Palkin is built on the site of the original, legendary restaurant, a place that became a haven for aristocrats and intellectuals such as Tchaikovsky, Chekhov, and Dostoyevsky, who are all known to have visited the restaurant. Nowadays, the restaurant is still the place to be for the city’s elite. Palkin features sumptuous interior designs that recall the bygone era of Russian decadence under the Tsars and food of the highest quality, with chefs able to re-create opulent dishes from the past. This highly popular establishment is always likely to be busy so it is best to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
