The Mattia Esse was, without a doubt, the most excentric of all sporting cats. Its rounded from gave it a strange, incomparable look. But these unusual lines weren't without giving certain construction problems. For the sake of simplification, the Mattia 18 was bord. With a less original look, it is not less efficient and is just as impressive in light weather as its ancestor. Its conception and quality of its finish bring it a robustness that will stand up to any test.

Le Mattia Esse était sans aucun doute le plus excentrique de tous les catas de sport. Ses formes arrondies lui donnaient un air étrange, incomparable. D'un aspect moins original, il n'en est pas moins efficace, tout aussi impressionnant dans le petit temps que son aïleul. Mattia Esse Un catamarano veloce e versatile, per due persone di equipaggio, di facile montaggio e trasporto
Nel 1978 l' ingegnere Enrico Contreas, alla guida della “Mattia & Cecco”, che già produceva catamarani nei primi Anni 70, disegna il Mattia Esse, monotipo riconosciuto poi dalla Federazione Italiana Vela come classe internazionale. Si tratta di un multiscafo di facile montaggio e trasporto, grazie anche all’albero divisibile in due pezzi. Veloce e versatile, dispone di randa (12,4 mq), fiocco e spinnaker asimmetrico (15,5 mq), armato su bompresso fissato in centro alla traversa anteriore. La distribuzione dei volumi di prua riduce la tendenza all’ingavonamento e gli scafi passano bene sull’onda corta, senza perdere velocità. Il Mattia Esse oggi viene costruito con alcuni rinforzi alla struttura del trampolino e ai relativi ancoraggi sullo scafo.

Mattia Binotto reveals leading Sauber 2025 candidates
The Italian GP was another disappointing race for Sauber, whose status as a backmarker team was cemented. Sauber’s on-track performance has been poor, with the team’s biggest developments coming away from the track. In one of his first appearances since becoming CTO, Mattia Binotto has outlined some of the drivers being considered for a 2025 seat.
Pourchaire joins Bortoleto and Bottas on Sauber shortlist
Mattia binotto considers several options.
Until now, two names have been heavily linked with a Sauber contract. The main contenders are Valtteri Bottas and Gabriel Bortoleto , who have been in negotiations for some time.
Bortoleto’s recent F2 victory in Monza has strengthened his position as a contender for 2025. Mattia Binotto sees the Brazilian as someone with immense potential.
Naturally, Bottas is also being considered. The Finn is fighting to keep his seat at the Hinwil squad, even if his pursuit of a multi-year deal could complicate his chances.
Speaking to the media , Mattia Binotto has revealed that Theo Pourchaire – Sauber’s reserve driver – is also on his shortlist:
“Theo [Pourchaire] is our present reserve driver and is already part of the family, and no doubt that he is on our list.
“Gabriel [Bortoleto] is doing very well in F2. He has shown to be a great talent.
“Certainly, we are looking to what he is doing – as we are looking to many others. I don’t see that as the only name in which we are focusing our attention.
“So there are many names on the list, great potential, great expertise, great experience.
“Again… you need to judge what’s most important for us in the short, medium and long term.
“A clear, clear plan, which today I do not have really an answer for.”
No clarity on Sauber’s next move
In recent months, Sauber has undergone a series of key leadership changes. In addition to Mattia Binotto , former Red Bull sporting director Jonathan Wheatley was appointed team principal in August.
Considering the team is in a transitional phase before entering as Audi F1 Team in 2026, deciding on Hulkenberg’s teammate could take time.
As Binotto himself mentioned, several variables are being considered. The team must choose if they want to invest in youth or experience, for example.
Valtteri Bottas offers continuity and has a proven record of delivering results. When Sauber were competitive at the start of 2022, the Finn consistently delivered points.
Then again, Binotto could be tempted into signing a young driver.
Bortoleto has obvious potential, and the team’s lack of performance could make 2025 a relatively low-risk year to gauge a rookie driver’s abilities.
The same can be said for Theo Pourchaire, who many would argue is unlucky not to be in F1 already. Several factors are currently at play, and Sauber are far away from making a final decision.
Sauber are nowhere near fighting for points, making it difficult for Bottas to secure a strong result and boost his chances.
Pourchaire is also on the sidelines after losing his IndyCar seat, meaning that Bortoleto’s F2 results could be the biggest change in the equation as Binotto weighs up the options.

Mattia Binotto Slams Sauber's Poor Performance - 'Cannot Afford It'

Sauber's new CEO and CTO, Mattia Binotto , has called out the team's underperformance at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, highlighting the zero points accumulated in the 2024 season thus far. He addressed the need to urgently ramp up systems, tools, staff, and infrastructure to elevate the team's position in Formula 1 before Audi's takeover of the team in 2026.
Binotto was recently hired by Audi as a part of its efforts to restructure the team. The former Ferrari team principal's hiring also paved the way for Red Bull sporting director Jonathan Wheatley, who will take over his role as Sauber team principal in 2025.
With less than two years to go, Binotto highlighted the priority of improving the performance before Audi takes over the outfit. He bluntly emphasized that the present scenario, where the team sits at the bottom of the Constructors' Championship, is not affordable. Speaking to the media , he explained:
“We cannot afford it.
“I think this is the team that has to become, in the future, a winning team. And the only way to do that is starting to move up, progressing. We need to train our muscles for the future.
“So, yes, I think we need certainly to improve. That's important for ourselves, that's important for the team. It's important for the brand. It's important for our partners. And we cannot somehow accept the current position.”
Binotto highlighted the "painful" situation of the team at present, suggesting the need to balance multiple priorities at the same time for consistent progress. He added:
“We cannot hide behind the fact that we have been last and second last in the Zandvoort race, and qualifying [here], the same positions some distance to the cars ahead. So, we need to put effort in improving.
“We need to balance all the priorities and our efforts from the short to the medium and the long term. But I don't think certainly that our position today is a comfortable one for us at all. It's very painful.
“As I said, we need to train our muscles, and we need to improve because the solid foundations do not come in one day. It's a team that needs to do continuous progress every single day, step by step. So, starting from as soon as possible I would say.”
Since he took over the dual role on 1st August, the 54-year-old team boss revealed that the team has some great people. However, he also highlighted several areas that need improvement to compete effectively with other Formula 1 teams. He said:
“In a couple of weeks, you cannot see everything [Since his joining on 1st August].
“Certainly, you've got only a first impression of what you may find or see, both in Hinwil for the chassis, or in Neuburg for the powertrain.
“But I think there are great people. We've got a clear intentions and objectives, ahead of us to become a winning team. But certainly, there is much to do, that is the first feedback.
“We are competing against teams that have been for many years in F1. They are big organisations, up and down. And that is not our case.
“We need to ramp up in terms of people, in terms of organisation, in terms of tools, process, methodologies, facilities. We need to merge, certainly, with what we're doing in Hinwil together with the one we are doing in Neuburg on the powertrain.
“And it's about as well, culture and mindset, because to become a winning team, it's about changing our mindset towards what is required.”
Since joining Audi last year, CEO Gernot Döllner has adjusted the team's timeline to create a more realistic strategy for improving their performance in Formula 1, reflecting the German manufacturer's long-term commitment to the sport. He added:
“We see our F1 project as really a long-term project.
“After I joined Audi, in September of last year, we did an evaluation of our project, and it ended up with the set-up we found, and also we maybe recalibrated our time path to a more realistic one.
“We can't tell details as we are still discussing several aspects of how to sort it out, but I think we are quite realistic when it comes to time.”

Oranienbaum (Lomonosov)
Still commonly known by its post-war name of Lomonosov, the estate at Oranienbaum is the oldest of the Imperial Palaces around St. Petersburg, and also the only one not to be captured by Nazi forces during the Great Patriotic War. Founded by Prince Menshikov, Peter the Great's closest adviser, the Grand Palace is one of the most opulent examples of Petrine architecture to have survived to the present, although until very recently the palace itself has been greatly neglected. After Menshikov's death, Oranienbaum passed to the state, and was used as a hospice until, in 1743, it was presented by Empress Elizabeth to her nephew, the future Peter III. Peter made Oranienbaum his official summer residence and transformed one corner of the park, ordering the construction of a "Joke" Castle and a small citadel manned by his Holstein guards. This peculiar ensemble, called Petershtadt, was mostly demolished during Pavel's reign. Antonio Rinaldi, the Italian-born architect who also designed the Grand Palace at Gatchina and the Marble Palace in St. Petersburg, was commissioned by Peter in 1758 to build a modest stone palace next to the fortress, and this has survived.
After Peter was deposed, Rinaldi was commissioned by Catherine the Great to build the Chinese Palace, in the Upper Park, as her official country residence. However, Catherine spent little time at Oranienbaum, which she had grown to hate during her marriage to Peter, and by the end of the 18 th century the estate had been turned into a Naval Cadet College. The palace became an Imperial residence again in the reign of Alexander I, and retained that status until the Revolution, when it was immediately opened as a museum. Although never captured by the Germans, Oranienbaum was bombarded during the war and, while the Grand Menshikov Palace survived intact, its restoration was given much lower priority than the more famous estates at Peterhof and Tsarskoe Selo. Today, the small but elegant park has been almost completely restored, while the full restoration of the palaces has finally gained momentum over the last decade.

F 18 formula
Since 1998 we have been producing sails for F18 formula:
our mainsail has 8 batens, rounded head for better profile and less drag, more adjustable shape compared to conventional mainsails in the market.
we provide a standard set of battens including (on request) top four stiffer battens for heavy conditions.
you can choose between classic or deck sweeper.
our jib can vary of shape, (profile), so you can adapt it to every shape you want; we have a light /med and a med/ strong model of it.
Our gennaker has a new shape it has been tested and you can really feel the difference..
in the moment of order please tell us the model and year of boat ans mast, because every boat has is own pattern.
