Mahogany beam ceiling and mahogany teak panelling throughout
In 2006/07 CONNDA VENNESSA was totally refitted, work to the structure included:
Hull completely stripped to bare wood, rotten planks (approximately 3 sqm) replaced, the hull planks were refastened and the whole hull was completely recaulked.
The non-operational stabilizer fins were removed and 2 x 2 new bilge keels were added. The hull was faired and painted. The yacht is single plank wood construction and therefore some movement is expected, hence a semicommercial paint finish was chosen.
Areas of the superstructure, where rot was found or suspected, were replaced with marine plywood and protected with fibreglass and epoxy where required; further work to this was carried out 2010
All windows are replaced, all window frames replaced and varnished. All portholes were chrome plated and fitted with new windows.
A completely new deck was been laid both on main and bridge decks, an area of approximately 120 sq metres.
The mizzen was removed in order to create an outdoor living area underneath sun awning. The deck above the bridge was converted into a sun bathing area with a 10 sq metre 3-piece cushion.
In the course of normal maintenance the hull was stripped back to bare wood 2010/11 and has been totally repainted.
During the 2013/14 maintenance period the hull has been completely repainted, among other improvements.

The boat was built to the rugged “Det Norske Veritas” construction standards, certifying her to operate year round in the extreme conditions of the North Sea. Construction is of carvel planking over massive timbers and frames with a laminated keel. The hull is fastened with locust wood trunnels, which swell in the timbers to form a tenacious, corrosion-free connection. Galvanized steel and bronze fasteners are used in a supplementary way in other places in the vessel. Norwegian Pitch Pine forms the primary hull structure material with a welded aluminum cabin and pilothouse for strength, lighter weight aloft, and durability. The hull and aluminum superstructure were fabricated in Norway and the boat was delivered under her own power to Ireland for completion at the Southern Marine shipyard in Malahide. This boat has been professionally maintained as a United States documented charter vessel with a 2018 survey proving the condition of the vessel as “very good and serviceable” for “operation in the waters of the Pacific Northwest, Southeast Alaska, and along the west coast of the continental US and into Mexico waters.”
Water tanks: SS (250 gallons), plastic (250 gallons); Holding tank: plastic (88 gallons) (new with all new lines and macerator pump in 2017).

VIRTUAL TOUR - VIDEO - 80 TO 100 PHOTOS - FULL SPECS CAN BE VIEWED OF THIS Malahide Trawler Yacht! Malahide Trawlers were created as long-distance ocean-capable voyaging yachts. These boats conformed to the proven design and construction found in North Sea fishing vessels which sailed in all weather conditions. Malahides were designed by Myles Stapleton and constructed primarily in Norway, Ireland, and Portugal depending on the model. All of the boats had in common: hull construction using heavy timbers, framing, and planking; single engine propulsion with very large engines; extensive tankage for long distance travel; independent power generation capability; and extensive safety systems for offshore voyaging.
Our 65’ Malahide Trawler Yacht Pilothouse model is a fine example of the type. The boat has been professionally maintained and actively chartered with a Jones Act Waiver that goes with the ship. All systems and structure are inspected and maintained or upgraded each season. The boat is well-equipped with an approval for up to 12 passengers for hire. As a private yacht, the boat has grace and character with ample accommodations and comfort features.
Accommodation features include:
-Three comfortable private staterooms plus crew quarters and off-watch pilothouse berthing; -Full galley with extensive freezer and refrigeration compartments and food storage; -Private Master Suite marine head compartment with shower; -Guest marine head compartment with shower; -Berthing for three crew members and a private marine head compartment in the crew quarters; -Gracious living space in the main salon, a forward lounge, and outside deck spaces;
Mechanical and ship systems include:
-Caterpillar 375 HP main engine with complete top end rebuild in 2017; -Robust running gear with major rebuilding in 2016; -Two diesel generators plus a massive house battery bank; -Hydraulic windlass and heavy duty ground tackle for safety; -Extensive and current ship navigation and safety systems; -This vessel is fully equipped for charter service including shore boats, kayaks, and more.
Our 65’ Malahide Trawler Yacht is proven as a capable and gracious yacht for long distance cruising and living aboard, as well as having demonstrated multiple years of success in charter service. The condition of the boat today is excellent due to professional maintenance and proactive stewardship. The ability to operate in charter provides financial leverage and an exciting potential to explore distant places with clients.
