Douglas Hensman

To those who say that the world’s richest are not very charitable or considerate of environmental issues, yacht designer Steve Kozloff has this to say: here’s the G-Quest megayacht. The rich might not be all these things right now, but they could be, if they commissioned the build of this megayacht.

yacht with a g

Superyacht concepts might seem like a pointless exercise of imagination, but they do serve a point: that of pushing the envelope in naval design and driving innovation. Whether they propose larger volumes or more luxurious features, more gear and enhanced capabilities, or greener fuels and propulsion, these concepts can test the proverbial waters of the industry and introduce new ideas to revolutionize it.

California-based yacht designer Steve Kozloff has been putting in overtime on this account, delivering several concepts that go all out there in certain respects. The Goliath series is perhaps the project to draw the most attention, as it includes vessels that live up to that name. The G-Quest megayacht explorer is a good example in this sense.

Introduced earlier this month, the G-Quest is a gargantuan superyacht explorer (a megayacht, based on size alone) with incredible capabilities, with the most important being that of doubling as a research vessel. This megayacht is not only about meeting the sky-high demands of a very rich owner, but also about being a testbed for research and experimentation, a floating laboratory, and a marine research vessel. G-Quest is like all good things wrapped in one single package with a giant red bow on it, with the only downside that it doesn’t exist. It could at some point in the future, but it would take a lot of money for it to happen.

yacht with a g

“The mission of G-Quest, a 215-meter [705-foot] yacht, allows its owner to oversee their philanthropic efforts while living in luxury at sea,”  the designer tells  autoevolution , adding that the vessel is  “designed for both humanitarian and research objectives.”

The division between work and play onboard G-Quest would be physical, with the owner and the guests occupying the top three decks, while the others are dedicated to gear, hospital functions, and research. Kozloff estimates the proportions would be of 20% to 80%, but there would be zero compromises in terms of luxury and comfort to the owner’s comparatively small chunk of the megayacht.

Renders show three pools and one massive helideck, a gorgeous solarium, shaded and open-air lounge areas, and a beach club – and all of them are blown up to size, to match the size of such an impressive vessel. The interior is not detailed, but the designer notes that the list of features also includes a full bar on the beach club, a crow’s nest for uninterrupted views and command and control, a spa area organized around the pool on the flybridge, formal dining and lounge area at the stern, with floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows, and a basketball half-court on the flydeck. Nothing compares with an outdoor workout session, and you know it.

The owner’s suite is 3,000 square feet (279 square meters) and sits on a private deck with a private pool. Given the size of the vessel, we can assume superyacht-standard features like a gym, cinema, and other fancy lounge areas would be included.

As impressive as all these sound – and the do sound very impressive – it’s the vessel’s remaining 80% that helps it stand out from the crowd of other megayacht concepts. G-Quest would be a  “philanthropic yacht”  that would serve a variety of purposes. In addition to the 26 guests on the top three decks, it would also carry as many as 150 people, including permanent crew, doctors and nurses, researchers, and a wide range of specialists.

yacht with a g

G-Quest would carry a complete oceanographic laboratory, a medical laboratory with MRI and X-ray imaging, ophthalmology department, and dentist suite, and as many as 20 hospital beds with 5G-connected robotic surgery facilities. It would also have a marine laboratory and enough gear to allow exploration of the most remote areas, whether underwater or on land.

The cavernous garages of this megayacht would carry one U-Worx Research submarine, six Candela hydrofoil boats, one electric ship-to-shore landing craft for vehicles and bulk freight, three electric Taiga-Orca jet skis, and two SUVs, one of which would be the Nimbl overland vehicle that Kozloff also designed. A 5,600 square-foot (520 square-meter) hangar would house two Sikorsky S-92 VIP helicopters, one eVTOL air limo designed by Kozloff, and several smaller aircraft. Then, the hangars midships would fit two Cessna Caravan Seaplanes or, if need be, could be repurposed for experimental propulsion systems that would be tested out at sea. A complete dive center with gear would also be available.

Equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and state-of-the-art everything, G-Quest would also be protected against possible attacks. Kozloff mentions anti-terrorism and pirate systems with a permanent crew of security officers and armored windows all around. You can never be too cautious about these things, especially when you have a vessel that stands out like that.

A thundering full custom motor yacht

Ultra G is a full custom 60-metre motor yacht with impressive power: 22,000hp for a top speed of 37 knots. Heesen is renowned for its expertise in designing, engineering, and building lightweight, ultra-fast yachts with unparalleled precision. Drawing inspiration from two iconic Heesen sportfishing yachts from the 90s, Obsession and Red Sapphire, Ultra G is the culmination of over 40 years of shipbuilding experience, crafted to the highest standards of Dutch quality.

First Impressions

Frank Laupman of Omega Architects created a bold profile for our most powerful yacht to date. The yacht’s muscular shapes are crafted to produce strong architectural shadows, while Laupman has underscored the sport fishing image with an aggressive, high-contrast paint scheme. Deeply tinted windows, a black superstructure band and hardtop, and red-orange accent stripes are all expressing Ultra G's immense power and speed. When it came to selecting the hull colour, Ultra G's owner wanted something out of the ordinary, but not too drastic. He chose ‘Desert Tan’, described by Awlgrip as “calming and low key, this is a subtle and luxurious shade. Yellowy in its base tone, it suggests a vast desert landscape where adventure beckons.” Ultra G will look stunning out in the deep blue ocean, where the giants roam!

Large sliding doors connect the indoor seating area and the large bar amidships with the outdoors. Forward, there is a formal dining setup with an elegant oval table that can seat up to twelve guests. The media room is located forward, featuring a cinema and a games table. The wellness area, with sauna, steam room and snow room, is adjacent to the fisherman lounge.

The unabashedly imaginative G-Quest is designed to tackle humanitarian and research objectives in total luxury.

Owning a multimillion-dollar superyacht may seem like the ultimate financial flex, at least until one considers picking up a private aircraft carrier.

yacht with a g

Technically, that’s what California-based vehicle designer Steve Kozloff has conceived. As the head designer at Nimbl Vehicles, he crafts bespoke overland camper packages for pickup trucks.

yacht with a g

But as the founder of The Goliath Series, a firm specializing in “polar class expedition yachts,” Kozloff also independently drafted one of the most over-the-top watercraft ever rendered, even compared to this 3D-printed “invisible” superyacht made of mirrors .

The 215-meter/705-foot-long G-Quest is designed to tackle humanitarian and research objectives in total luxury. The majority of the yacht’s space is devoted to accommodating “oceanographic and medical research, green propulsion experimentation, and medical intervention” a statement reads.

yacht with a g

Among its most ambitious features is a 6,500-foot aircraft hangar designed to house two Sikorsky S-92 VIP helicopters, various other smaller helicopters, and an electric VTOL craft of Kozloff’s own design for transporting personnel. A separate hangar at midship stores two Cessna Caravan Seaplanes, selected for their ability to transport resupply across long distances.

The G-Quest’s tenders aren’t limited to aircraft. Kozloff has also dedicated garage space for six fully electric Candela hydrofoil “flying boats,” an electric ship-to-shore landing craft for transporting vehicles and freight, a U-Worx Research submarine, two SUVs (one of which is a Nimbl exploration vehicle), and three Taiga Orcas —that model made headlines as the “world’s first electric jet ski” in 2022.

yacht with a g

Aside from a full-fledged fleet of vehicles capable of traversing land, air and sea, the G-Quest boasts some unabashedly imaginative accommodations, including its own oceanographic laboratory, medical laboratory, dive center with compression chamber, MRI and X-ray imaging center, ophthalmology department, dentist’s suite, robotic surgery operating rooms, and 20 hospital beds.

On the luxe side, there’s a 3,000-square-foot owner’s suite with panoramic views at the bow, a large spa and pool on the flybridge, basketball court above the flybridge, another pool with a shaded lounge area above the aft hangar, a dining room at the stern, and a solarium with a second dining area at the bow, plus a beach club with a full bar somewhere—detailed images of the interior are unavailable.

yacht with a g

A total of 26 owner’s guests will reside on the three upper decks, while an operating crew of 150 including doctors, scientists, pilots, nurses, research engineers will reside in unspecified quarters.

Even the propulsion system is ambitious. Kozloff imagined rotating azimuth thrusters, powered by batteries that are charged by “green fuels of the future”—hydrogen, methanol, and biodiesel are all on the table.

yacht with a g

The G-Quest is likely to forever remain a concept, as it would cost an estimated $1-$1.2 BILLION to bring to fruition. Head to The Goliath Series’ website to learn more.

Divers find body of Mike Lynch's daughter Hannah, 18, missing after superyacht sank

Portrait of Cybele Mayes-Osterman

Italian divers have retrieved the body of Mike Lynch 's 18-year-old daughter, Hannah Lynch, the last person who went missing after the Bayesian , the British tech tycoon's family yacht, sank off the coast of Sicily earlier this week.

The 184-feet-long, U.K.-registered vessel capsized and rapidly sank off the port of Porticello, near Sicily's capital of Palermo, as an unexpected storm swept the area before sunrise on Monday.

Specialist divers discovered Hannah Lynch's body on Friday after five days of scouring the sunken boat, an unnamed senior official with knowledge of the rescue operation told Reuters.

The disaster set off an exhaustive search for six of its 22 passengers, who were unaccounted for after the ship sank. Mike Lynch's body was discovered on Thursday, while the bodies of Jonathan Bloomer, a non-executive chair of Morgan Stanley International, his wife, Judy Bloomer, Clifford Chance attorney Chris Morvillo, who was a U.S. citizen, and his wife, Neda Morvillo, were discovered on Wednesday. The five bodies were all located inside the sunken ship.

Recaldo Thomas, the ship's cook and a citizen of Antigua, was pronounced dead on Monday after his body was found near the ship. Thomas also went by Ricardo, according to media reports .

The bodies will be officially identified and autopsies will be performed in Palermo.

The fire brigade said on Friday the rescue operation was "long and delicate" – the ship sits more than 160 feet underwater, and its inner passageways are narrow, posing a challenge to divers. More than 400 rescuers were involved, including 28 specialist divers, officials said.

Lynch's family said in a statement on Friday the family "is devastated, in shock and is being comforted and supported by family and friends."

"Their thoughts are with everyone affected by the tragedy. They would like to sincerely thank the Italian coastguard, emergency services and all those who helped in the rescue," they wrote.

"Their one request now is that their privacy be respected at this time of unspeakable grief."

A judicial investigation has been opened into the sinking, which has baffled naval marine experts, who say a boat like the Bayesian , built by Italian high-end yacht manufacturer Perini, should have withstood the storm.

Prosecutors in the nearby town of Termini Imerese have opened an investigation into whether human errors were a factor. Coast Guard officials already have questioned the captain, James Cutfield, and surviving crew members and passengers as part of the investigation.

A maritime legal expert told USA TODAY the disaster could lead to lawsuits and possible criminal charges against Cutfield.

"As far as the charges, it appears that the captain will be investigated for not having due diligence in command of his vessel," said Mitchell Stoller, a maritime expert witness and captain. "He cannot discharge his duties."

Stoller said a captain's general duties include watching local weather reports and preparing for incoming storms. He said ships usually don't remain anchored during a storm so that they can maneuver in turbulent waters − Italian authorities have said the Bayesian was likely anchored before the disaster.

"The general standard of care in this situation is to monitor the weather, exercise caution, have a night watch, have the engine going, ready to maneuver," he said.

Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group, which owns Perini, told Reuters the crew made a string of "indescribable, unreasonable errors" in the leadup to the disaster. Design or construction errors did not play a role, he said.

No charges have so far been announced. Prosecutors will hold a news conference on Saturday.

Cutfield did not immediately return a request for comment from USA TODAY sent on Friday to a Facebook profile that appeared to belong to him. It is unclear if Cutfield has retained an attorney.

Complex Salvage Operation

Further inspections of the ship, which officials say is intact and lying on its right side, could give investigators more clues. Authorities may pull it out of the water, but the operation would be expensive and complicated.

Nick Sloane, a South African engineer who led the operation to recover the Costa Concordia, a cruise liner that sank 12 years ago, estimated such an operation could cost up to $16.7 million, in interviews with Italian media on Friday.

Pulling the yacht to the surface could take several days, and would need to be done "very, very slowly," he told daily La Repubblica. The entire operation could take up to eight weeks and would need to be completed by mid-October, he said.

Final Body Is Recovered From Yacht That Sank Off Sicily

Hannah Lynch, the 18-year-old daughter of the British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, was on board a yacht that was hit by a storm and went down in the early hours on Monday.

  • Share full article

Rescue workers in orange wet suits on the deck of a boat with a green body bag.

By Emma Bubola and Elisabetta Povoledo

Emma Bubola reported from Porticello, Italy, and Elisabetta Povoledo from Pallanza, Italy.

For nearly a week after a violent storm sent a luxury yacht to the bottom of the sea off the coast of Sicily, Italian scuba divers plunged deep underwater, moving through ropes and fallen objects inside the yacht in a desperate search for the six people missing.

On Friday, the recovery of the body of Hannah Lynch, 18, put an end to the wrenching search and to the slim hopes that any of the missing people might have survived.

Ms. Lynch, the daughter of the British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, who also died in the yacht’s sinking, was the last person to be formally unaccounted for since Monday after tragedy struck a group that had been celebrating her father’s acquittal in a high-profile fraud case.

There were 10 crew members and 12 passengers on board the 180-foot vessel, the Bayesian, when it was hit by a storm and went down about 4.30 a.m. on Monday, the boat’s management company said on Friday.

Fifteen survived.

The body of the ship’s cook, Recaldo Thomas, was found on Monday, a few hours after a downpour hit the northwestern coast of Sicily, near the port of Porticello, where the yacht had been anchored.

But it took several days to recover the bodies of the six passengers who were apparently trapped inside the yacht: Mr. Lynch and Ms. Lynch; Jonathan Bloomer, the chairman of Morgan Stanley International; his wife, Judy Bloomer; Christopher J. Morvillo, a lawyer at Clifford Chance; and his wife, Neda Morvillo.

On Friday, a round of applause could be heard from the firefighter’s tent set up on the dock in Porticello after the last body was pulled out in what the corps described as a “complex” search operation at a depth of about 165 feet. The firefighters said they had made 123 immersions into the sea to try to retrieve the bodies..

The body bag was then loaded onto an ambulance. A local man had left a small wooden cross on the rocks in front of the dock where the bodies were brought ashore.

Mr. Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, was among those who managed to reach the safety of a raft. They were rescued by a sailing schooner that had been bobbing about 150 yards from the yacht.

In a statement, the family thanked the search teams and said that it was enduring a “time of unspeakable grief.”

“The Lynch family is devastated, in shock and is being comforted and supported by family and friends,” the statement added.

As prosecutors from the nearby city of Termini Imerese began conducting interviews with the survivors and possible witnesses, the crew and passengers of the Bayesian have been confined to a local hotel, where the news media have been denied access.

Salvatore Cocina, the head of Sicily’s civil protection agency, said on Thursday that the survivors had turned down the psychological assistance his department had offered to them.

In Porticello, the sprawling presence of rescue services made a haunting backdrop for an otherwise tranquil port town. People sunbathed and ate ricotta-filled pastries, and stores selling sandals and dried fruit opened as normal, while coast guard and firefighting vessels came and went from the shore, taking scuba divers out to the shipwreck.

Other reminders of the tragedy could be seen along the coast, among palm trees and ice cream shops, with groups of onlookers staring out at the sea, now tranquil and flat.

Local and national news organizations have complained that prosecutors have not issued a statement or held a news conference. Prosecutors may shed more light on the yacht’s sinking when they hold a news conference on Saturday.

The marine accident investigation branch of the British transportation ministry was also looking into the shipwreck of the vessel, which was registered in Britain.

One of the major questions is what caused the boat to sink: Was it the fault of the boat maker, of the crew or of a powerful act of nature — or some combination of the three? None of those who were onboard the Bayesian have spoken publicly.

The luxury yacht, built by the Italian manufacturer Perini Navi and launched in 2008, had the second-tallest aluminum mast in the world, according to its makers.

Giovanni Costantino, the chief executive of the Italian Sea Group, which in 2022 bought Perini Navi, has been assertive in defending the design and construction of the yacht, saying that the Bayesian would be “unsinkable” if the proper procedures were followed.

But yacht design experts have cautioned that the lesson of the Titanic, the ocean liner that sank on its 1912 maiden voyage, showed that no vessel, no matter how robust, was worthy of that label.

Nautilus International, a maritime-focused labor union, criticized any implication that the crew had been at fault, especially at this stage. In a statement , the union’s general secretary, Mark Dickinson, said, “Experience tells us that maritime tragedies are always the result of multiple, interconnected factors,” and he urged people to refrain from drawing any conclusions until a thorough investigation had been carried out.

The investigation into the causes will take months, prosecutors said.

Everyone from the sunken yacht off Sicily has now been accounted for

Italian authorities say the bodies of all seven people who died after a sailing yacht sank on Monday have now been recovered. The final discovery was announced on Friday; the other six bodies had been found after the calamity.

Tech mogul Mike Lynch is among the people whose bodies were recovered from the sailing yacht, called Bayesian. The massive yacht sank in a violent storm along the shore of Sicily early on Monday.

Italian divers on Friday recovered the body of Lynch’s daughter Hannah, 18, who was the last person unaccounted for.

Lynch’s body was identified on Thursday, according to The Associated Press and other news outlets, citing the Italian coast guard. The agency did not immediately respond to messages from NPR.

The sea rescue operation included 123 dives, according to the Italian fire brigade . Robotic craft have also been used in the search.

Local newspaper Giornale di Sicilia reports that Lynch’s daughter, Hannah, 18, is believed to be the only remaining missing person from the calamity.

15 people survived the catastrophe

Bayesian, with a length of more than 180 feet, had 22 passengers and crew aboard when it sank in the pre-dawn hours of Monday morning. Eyewitness accounts cited a waterspout — a highly localized spiraling storm that’s essentially a marine tornado. One body was found, and 15 survivors made it to safety. That left six people unaccounted for.

Since then, the Italian Coast Guard has been working to find survivors -- and as time passed, what started as a rescue effort became a recovery operation to retrieve bodies from inside the sunken ship.

The Palermo Coast Guard told NPR that the operation has been complicated by the depth and position of the hull, which lies on the seabed at a depth of around 50 meters, about a half-mile from the port in Porticello, Sicily.

Who were the missing people?

The six passengers who had been unaccounted for include Lynch and his daughter, along with Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife. Judy. A lawyer for Lynch named Chris Morvillo, and his wife, Neda, were also missing in the days after the yacht sank.

One member of the crew -- Recaldo Thomas, the yacht’s chef -- also went missing. Local news reports have suggested it was Thomas’ body that was found soon after the ship sank.

Who survived the sinking?

Survivors include Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, along with Charlotte Golunski, who works at Invoke Capital, Lynch’s venture capital firm. Golunski was on the ship with her daughter, Sofia, who had just celebrated her first birthday.

In an interview with La Repubblica , Golunski said that as the ship sank, she used all her strength to hold her arms above water and prevent Sofia from drowning. Sophia’s father was also onboard and survived.

Ayla Ronald, a lawyer who worked on Lynch’s fraud case, and her partner also escaped the wreck. Other survivors include several crew members, including two women in their early 20s who were part of the ship’s staff.

Who was Mike Lynch?

Lynch, 59, was the founder of Autonomy, a search engine and software company. Hewlett-Packard bought Autonomy for $11 billion in 2011, but Lynch then faced accusations — and then federal fraud charges — that he had misrepresented his company’s financial health and prospects. Lynch denied the claims, saying HP was blaming him for its own problems.

This past June, a lengthy trial in San Francisco ended with Lynch’s acquittal of all charges against him , after he testified on his own behalf. The sailing voyage along the coast of Sicily has been portrayed as a celebration of the end of the court case.

A superyacht captain shares 3 things people who want to charter a luxury vessel should know

  • Vacationing on a superyacht may sound like it's all Champagne and sunbathing.
  • But before boarding a luxury vessel, superyacht captain Kelly Gordon advises keeping certain things in mind.
  • Yachting is a summer pastime with risks and nuances for clients and crew.

Insider Today

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez soaking up the sun. Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian's wedding . Beyoncé's carefree jump into the ocean.

One of these images is likely what comes to mind when you hear the word "superyacht," a phrase generally used to describe a yacht over 80 feet in length.

While ultra-luxurious vessels are associated with all things carefree, tragic events such as the sinking of the Bayesian superyacht off the coast of Sicily on Monday is a reminder that yachting is a pastime with unique risks and nuances. It's unclear what the protocols were on the Bayesian.

For those keen on the idea of chartering a superyacht, captain Kelly Gordon, 42, told Business Insider there are a number of important factors to consider before hopping on board.

Gordon fell in love with yachting after she stepped aboard a yacht for the first time in her mid-20s.

Hellbent on reaching captain level, Gordon quickly worked her way up the chain of command. She's spent most of her time sailing the Bahamas and the Caribbean and is now based in Florida, where she works as a captain on a 108-foot-long privately owned vessel.

Gordon, who has over 12,600 followers on Instagram , shares three factors to keep in mind before boarding a chartered superyacht.

Think of the process of chartering a superyacht as buying a house

One of the most important things to do when chartering a superyacht is to work with a charter broker, Gordon says.

"The charter manager's job is to No. 1: find you a safe boat," Gordon said, adding that in her experience, "Not all programs put safety as high up on the list as it should be."

She also likes to equate charter brokers to Realtors in that they take on the role of finding you the best option for your taste.

Related stories

"You find one that you gel with really well and has a good reputation, and then you discuss with them what your budget is, where you want to go, what your activity levels are, what your personalities are like," Gordon said.

Pairing clients with a crew that aligns with their characteristics is a huge part of a charter broker's job, Gordon said.

"If you think about it, you're living with that crew for 24/7, around the clock," she said. "You're not going put someone that just wants to sit and read books all day with a crew that's extremely active."

Find a crew that is competent and prioritizes safety

Charter brokers also help match clients with a competent crew that prioritizes safety.

"I don't know that many people realize just how much their life is in our hands when we cast those lines and we go to sea," Gordon said.

Part of that is having a safety briefing, which Gordon carries out every time she welcomes clients onto a chartered vessel before leaving a dock.

A thorough safety briefing includes informing clients about the location of safety equipment and lifejackets and the procedures for events such as a fire, a person falling overboard, or the boat sinking.

"You should have a safety briefing, and if you don't get one, you should ask for one," Gordon said.

The process, she added, can be different on privately owned yachts, where passengers may be familiar with the vessel.

The Bayesian is a private yacht owned by tech tycoon Mike Lynch; it's not yet known what kind of safety protocols staff and guests were trained on.

Make sure there's a member of the crew on watch 24/7

"A lot of charter guests think when they go to sleep, the crew goes to sleep," Gordon said.

But that shouldn't be the case, she added. "You want to be on a boat knowing that someone's up, because if the weather changes or the anchor starts to drag, you need somebody that's up and ready to go and get everybody else to handle it."

Among the biggest weather risks are tornados, which can be extremely difficult to predict and prepare for whether you're on land or at sea.

"I'm from the Midwest, where tornados pop up," Gordon said. "It's hard to see a tornado coming, and if you do see it coming, the tornado goes where it wants to go."

Most often, that leaves people near the weather event with just minutes to ready themselves, which is even trickier "in the middle of the night."

While rapid changes in weather are tough to contend with, Gordon recommends researching the areas you are sailing in beforehand, like you would when visiting a new country.

"It's no different than if you're going on vacation on land," she said. "You want to know where you're going. Don't put that just all on the crew."

While the research doesn't have to be as extensive as the crew should be doing, it's important to still be "responsible for your own self as well as your family and your guests."

Powerful Attorney With CT Roots, Wife Missing After Luxury Yacht Capsizes In Italy: Reports

A New York attorney with Connecticut roots and his wife are among seven people missing after the yacht they were on capsized early this week in Italy, according to multiple reports.

Christopher Morvillo

Christopher Morvillo, age 59, who attended the Canterbury School in Litchfield County, Connecticut, and later Fordham University, along with his wife, Neda Morvillo, age 57, are among six people who are unaccounted after the 184-foot luxury yacht overturned off the coast of Sicily on Monday morning, Aug. 19, according to ABC 7.

Twenty-two people were on board the ship at the time of the incident near Palermo, according to the report.

The couple's bodies may still be on the boat, which rescuers have had a difficult time reaching, ABC 7 reports.

According to the Financial Times , the yacht is owned by a client of Morvillo's, British tycoon Mike Lynch.

Morvillo served as an assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1999 to 2005, having helped in the criminal investigation stemming from the 9/11 attacks, according to his bio on his firm's website.

Two months ago, Morvillo wrote a post on LinkedIn following an exoneration in a client. After congratulating multiple colleagues and team members, Morvillo thanks his family.

"And, finally, a huge thank you to my patient and incredible wife, Neda Morvillo, and my two strong, brilliant, and beautiful daughters, Sabrina Morvillo and Sophia Morvillo. None of this would have been possible without your love and support. I am so glad to be home," said Morvillo, closing on an eerie note.

"And they all lived happily ever after…."
