TRAILHEAD INFORMATION

The Richmond Marina provides access to the Richmond Shoreline and beyond, with sweeping views of the Bay Bridge, Brooks Island, San Francisco, and Angel Island in the distance. The Marina provides a protected launch and Marina Inner Harbor Basin provides an ideal location for paddling that is sheltered from the winds.

A concessionaire, 510 Waterline, offers SUP lessons and equipment rentals.

Boat Facilities

Boat launch facilities consist of an ADA low-freeboard dock with a kayak assist and two SUP handrails. The Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) constructed the ADA launch in 2018. This facility also includes a kayak staging area, ADA gangway, transition plates, and kayak roll-bars with a transfer system.

There is also a corrugated cement boat ramp and two high-freeboard docks for larger craft. The Marina offers public boat storage for $30/month for outside storage and $40/month for inside storage.

From I-580, take the Cutting Boulevard / Harbour Way South exit and turn onto Harbour Way South. Follow the round for approximately 1 mile then make a left onto Hall Avenue. The Marina is located at the end of Hall Avenue.

The 74 bus line stops at Regatta Boulevard and Marina Way, approximately 0.8 miles from the Marina.

Ample paid parking is available at the Marina. Currently parking is $10 for 24 hours or $20 for 48 hours, which can be paid at an electronic kiosk. There are also four free Public Shore parking spaces in the business park lot next to the marina.

ADA restrooms with running water are located near the top of the boat ramp.

Marina Bay provides a variety of nearby amenities including boat storage, a boat washdown area, restaurants, walking paths, benches, and restrooms.

Accessibility

The recently constructed kayak launch has been designed to meet ADA standards, with a wide gangway, transition plates, transfer seat, and paved path of  travel.

The shoreside facilities include a variety of accessible facilities, including a path of travel (not marked), sidewalks, restroom, and parking that all appear to be ADA accessible and well maintained.

Safety Tips

This launch is used primarily by motorized boats and can get crowded on weekends, so care needs to be taken to avoid user conflicts. Motorized boats and sailboats are regularly moving throughout the marina, particularly near the mouth of the marina. In addition, large ships utilize the Santa Fe Channel, located to the west of the Marina, so small non-motorized boats need to take caution to avoid these vessels.

There is a 300-foot security exclusion zone around the Chevron Long Wharf, located 3.5 miles northwest of the Marina.

The Harbormaster is onsite daily between 9AM and 5PM.

Wildlife Tips

Brooks Island is located approximately one mile offshore from the Marina. Brooks Island hosts 18 species of nesting birds, including herons, gulls, and terns. Brooks Island is also home to a secondary harbor seal haul-out site. Access to Brooks Island is only allowed seasonally on the western sandspit of the Island or as part of a scheduled East Bay Regional Park District naturalist tour. Trips to Brooks Island can be scheduled through EBRPD Reservations Department.

The Albany Mudflats Ecological Reserve / State Marine Park, an important feeding ground for a variety of shorebirds and waterfowl, is located approximately 2.5 miles to the southeast.  The Albany Mudflats are extremely shallow during high tides and large mudflats are  exposed at low tides. Due to the potential to get stranded and for sensitive habitat considerations, paddlers are not allowed to enter this area.

One of the features I like most about EBM is the ability to give guests a keypad code for the dock gate and the restrooms. So convenient! Lori Petersen  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant 2009-2017
Any casual observer of EBM can see the world class views of Mount Rainier, the Space Needle, the Downtown skyline, the Olympic Mountain range, the clean wide docks, and great options for eating but what someone may not know is the friendly ‘Nordstrom’ style of service from all of the staff whether it be dockhands to pump out staff … it is what sets EBM head and shoulders above. Larry Post  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 1992
We have been residents of EBM for three years now, and we’ll say this place is like a country club. The only thing missing is Golfers. We boated in Newport Beach, Ca. and Dana Point, and Catalina and those places can’t hold a candle to EBM. How many places can you get assistance mooring on a windy day? You can here. The staff goes out of their way to know your name and fill any of your needs. The restaurants are fabulous. The gas dock is friendly too. These people are first-class and the best in Seattle. Tony Loviscek and Steve Hough  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 2014
In the nearly twenty years that my wife and I have kept a boat at the EBM, we have seen our share of high wind conditions. On such occasions, we frequently have called the Harbormaster’s office to request assistance in landing to avoiding bumping other boats. Without fail, one or two staff members have covered the several hundred yards to reach our slip in time to provide such needed assistance. In our experience, the EBM’s commitment to customer safety and satisfaction has been consistently exemplary. Chris Davis  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 2000
During my 64 years of boating Elliott Bay Marina has been by far the best of the best, for many reasons. From the manager down to the personnel have been great and helpful in every way. The services they provide are extraordinaire. I have been at the marina for approx. 16 years and have no complaints. Al Butler  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 1999
We live five hours away from our boat and enjoy the confidence we have in the marina’s security and the watchfulness by staff. Eric and Fay Alm  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant from 2009-2017
Few things more enjoyable after a nice cruise on the sound, then being greeted by fellow sailors, and heading to the Palisade restaurant for dinner as the sunsets over the Olympic Mountains. Elliott Bay Marina provides this special opportunity on a daily basis. Bill Hedges  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 2011
After nine years at EBM, we can honestly say there is no other marina in Washington state that we would rather call home. The staff, facilities, grounds and view are the best Seattle has to offer! The little everyday things like our neighbors, the fact the staff walks and cleans the docks daily, the convenience of the fuel dock store and warmth we feel when visiting the marina office are so greatly appreciated. Samantha and Darren Loken  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 2009
We have been keeping our boat at Elliott Bay Marina for close to 14 years. Very Satisfied is the best way to sum up our experience! Lovely facilities and location. The best part is the staff. They seem to stay around and first name basis makes for better service. We use the docking help on occasion and it’s a great benefit. We wouldn’t consider moving. Bruce and Bobbi Campbell  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 2007
We have kept our boats in top marinas in Miami, California, The Great Lakes and Texas over the years and EBM is the absolute friendliest, safest and best-managed of any we have ever found. Which is why we have been here for nearly 20 years now. David Roddy  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 2005
We have had four different vessels moored at Elliott Bay Marina over the past 18 years. Having cruised the west coast from Mexico to Alaska over the past 35 years, we believe EBM to be the finest marina we’ve experienced. Great facility and great staff, and the fuel dock is much more than just a fuel dock! Bob and Sue Findley  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 2001
The marina is my sanctuary. A place of quiet and beauty. It’s always pristine. Everyone is cheerful by the water — and why not? It is so calming. If I am having a stressful day, the marina takes it all away. Glenn Bonci  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 2004
I took my six grandkids to the fuel dock in the Zodiac. They call it the “Everything Pirate Store.” We pulled up and Anne helped us dock. The kids were ecstatic when they saw Anne’s tattoo. It really was a Pirate Store and inside was all the “snusk” that they desired–ice cream, cookies, Gummy Worms and more! They raided the place and we left with enough energy food to make me either the best grandpa ever or the worst (depending on who is talking). Thanks for making Elliott Bay much more than a place to moor the boat. Stefan Ulstein  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 2014
We are not seasoned cruisers, but this marina was an outstanding experience for us. The staff is super accommodating and friendly and the onsite restaurants are a huge plus. The slip we were in was plenty long enough and although we didn’t need it, there was assistance available to aide us with landing. The restrooms and showers were the best we have seen so far and also the cleanest. Highly recommend a stay here! Darryl Walker  |  Guest Boater
Away from the city chaos with one of a kind sweeping views of Seattle, Puget Sound and islands. Fine dining and a bar and grill with large outdoor patio. Great little shop at the fuel dock where you can pick up local wines and brews…and ice cream treats. Heather Byers  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 1996
We love Elliott Bay Marina! It’s our first time mooring and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly! No question is dumb! Thank you to Jordan, Brandon and the rest of the crew for always answering all of our questions. Scott and Alison Helfen  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant since 2017
Always a great experience at Elliott Bay Marina, the staff and the beauty and the cleanliness keep us coming back … Love the breakfast at the local restaurant also .. 🙂 Cheers Guys ! Jeff Stewart  |  Guest Boater
Really outstanding people, I had people rush to open a door since I just bought a sailboat there and I was loading stuff all day, I was impressed! Steve Perea  |  Guest Boater
Quiet, hidden gem. Great restaurants, slips, accessibility and extraordinary views of the city and Mt. Rainier. Michael Kennedy  |  Guest Boater
The staff is top knotch! It’s clean & well maintained. Best marina around. Thank You Elliott Bay Marina! Dan Eastgate  |  Elliott Bay Marina Tenant from 2017-2018
Great marina. Totally awesome bathrooms. That is super important, just sayin! Michelle Li  |  Guest Boater
Three Little Birds serenaded us and a nice wooden bench allowed me to get him ready before going into the shower stall. Once in the shower, Porter belted out the, “Don’t worry, about a thing. ‘Cause every little thing, gonna be alright” chorus and I couldn’t help but laugh, as there were other people using the bathroom as well. Besides the nice addition of music, the showers here are always well maintained and the water pressure is good. Showers at Elliott Bay, “No worries!” Three Sheets NW Magazine

The 11 Most Exciting Superyacht Debuts at the Monaco Yacht Show

This year's newbies range from a 400-footer that charters for $3.25 million per week to multiple hybrid yachts, including one that runs on methanol., julia zaltzman, julia zaltzman's most recent stories.

Monaco Yacht Show

The Monaco Yacht Show always promises a stellar lineup— last year had an unusually large number of wild launches—and this time around will be no exception. More than 120 superyachts, including 20-plus that measure 200 feet and above, will be on the docks at Port Hercule, with beautiful Monte Carlo in the hills above.

Among the fleet of anticipated launches is the 400-foot Kismet . Built by Lürssen and launched earlier this year, this stunner will be shown before the winter charter season, at a weekly rate of $3.25 million. The vessel is sure to stand out, thanks to the large silver jaguar sculpture fitted under its bowsprit.

Besides bling, showgoers will notice the concerted push toward sustainability this year. Rossinavi has introduced the Seawolf X , its first hybrid-electric catamaran, and Nautor Swan’s sailing maxi yacht, DreamCatcher , is also its first hybrid. Sanlorenzo is launching Almax , its first 50-meter (165-foot) vessel with hydrogen fuel cells. It was developed with Siemens Energy.

Siemens is also sponsoring the show’s Sustainability Hub, which has become a breeding ground for eco-friendly concepts and new ideas to promote a greener superyacht sector. This year’s conference will cover alternative propulsion, outlining how it will be adopted over the next five years. The show’s Yacht Design & Innovation Hub takes a less technical approach to sustainability. It’s the place where leading designers and mainstream innovators converge, presenting vessels that will shape the future of superyacht design.

Here are 11 must-see boats at this year’s show.

Lürssen ‘Kismet’

marina yacht bay

The 400-foot Kismet is the most anticipated boat on display at Monaco this year. True to form, Shahid Khan’s third Lürssen, which charters for $3.25 million per week, will be an exceptional landmark in a marina of superyachts. Alongside its Nemo lounge for viewing marine life, a Balinese-inspired spa with the first chromotherapy bathtub on a yacht, and upper-deck dining options for 24 people, the vessel has a duplex owner’s apartment with two separate marbled bathrooms, a fireplace, and gilded wall coverings. When guests have had their fill of the DJ station and Bogányi piano, the ’80s retro matrix dance floor should keep the party going.

Royal Huisman ‘Special One’

marina yacht bay

Set to make a splash is Royal Huisman’s 171-foot Special One , the largest sportfisherman in the world. Commissioned by an experienced yachtsman and passionate fisherman, the monster sportfish is kitted out with a fighting chair, 22 fishing rods, insulated cooler boxes, and a dedicated bait-and-tackle room. The teak foredeck can transition into a sheltered private lounge area and also converts to an outdoor cinema. Designed by Vripack, the vessel offers up proportions and seakeeping capabilities that are matched by its impressive 30-knot top speed.

Rossinavi ‘Seawolf X’

marina yacht bay

Looming large above the water, the 140-foot Seawolf X is Rossinavi’s most ambitious build to date. The hybrid-electric catamaran is the Italian shipyard’s first multihull, which can stay in electric mode during transatlantic trips for 80 percent of the time. Even more impressive is the onboard artificial intelligence system—Rossinavi AI—which analyses the operation of the vessel, predicts the needs of guests and optimizes crew service and logistics. The interior is designed by New York-based Meyer Davis, with an exterior penned by Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design. Its wow features include a cockpit centered around a pool, a second hidden pool on the bow area, and an outdoor cinema.

Bilgin ‘Eternal Spark’

marina yacht bay

Eternal Spark is the first hull in Bilgin’s 163 series. In addition to six outdoor and three indoor lounge areas, the yacht can host over 100 people while at anchor from its five dedicated bar areas. Hot Lab’s use of wood inlays and embossed natural leather create a refined interior aesthetic, while the combination of a huge beach club, sauna, pool, and two cinemas—outdoor and indoor—should keep guests happy. Built with over 200 different materials, it shows how advanced the Turkish yard has become with its last few launches.

Sanlorenzo ‘Almax’

marina yacht bay

Sanlorenzo’s first fuel-cell-powered 50Steel model joins a growing list of yacht launches exploring alternative power sources. The fuel-cell technology converts biomethanol (green methanol) into enough electricity to cover the hotel load so the yacht can anchor all night without generators. Almax also has Sanlorenzo’s newly patented Hidden Engine Room (HER), located on the lower deck. This novel configuration creates enough interior volume to include a 1,615-square-foot beach club with a pool and unfolding sea terraces, while keeping the yacht below 500GT. The shipyard has confirmed the sale of four units to date.

Custom Line50

marina yacht bay

Making its global debut a Monaco, the four-decked Custom Line50 is the Italian shipyard’s new flagship model. The dedicated owner’s apartment on the upper deck includes full-height windows, a full-beam suite, and a large private terrace. The sun deck’s lounge seating, cocktail bar, uninterrupted views, and glass-edged infinity pool amplify the sense of being on a floating island. It’s an effective design that is replicated on the main aft deck. This area offers stepped access to the sea, a scenario that is reinforced by an aquamarine-and-cream interior color scheme.

Damen ‘Five Oceans’

marina yacht bay

The newest model from Damen’s Yacht Support 53 range, Five Oceans was built for Tommy Allen, an entrepreneur committed to ocean exploration and marine conservation. The vessel will be easy to spot in Monaco’s Port Hercules, thanks to its powder-blue, orange, and white hull. The custom build is Allen’s second yacht-support vessel from Damen. It has a sprawling aft deck to carry toys and tenders as well as a 15-ton deck crane for the launch and recovery of the electric boats and Triton 3300 Pro submersible. Five Oceans also carries an Icon A5 amphibious aircraft.

Tankoa ‘Diamond Binta’

marina yacht bay

Conceived as a world explorer, Tankoa’s 190-foot Diamond Binta blends a hybrid propulsion package with high-gloss finishes over a wooden interior. Penned by Francesco Paszkowski, Tankoa’s long-time design collaborator, the full custom build has an owner’s suite with a fold-out balcony, a forward helideck for shore-based excursions, a large beach club with a spa, and massage room as well as a sundeck with a gym and pool. A corridor on the lower deck connects the yacht’s five guest cabins to the beach area, passing through a viewable engine room.

Nautor Swan ‘DreamCatcher’

marina yacht bay

As Nautor Swan’s first hybrid yacht, the 88-foot DreamCatcher is described by the shipyard as a “no-compromise cruiser with a racer’s soul.” Designed for guest comfort with a maximum heeling angle of 20 degrees, its exterior is penned by veteran Swan designer Germán Frers, while the light-wood interior with gray accents is done by Misa Poggi. The aft cockpit has a new coachroof design with an integrated sprayhood, bimini, and modular benches that can be used for both lounging and dining. The stern area incorporates a large beach club area and tender garage. On the foredeck is the “sunset lounge.”

Oceanco ‘H3’

marina yacht bay

Built in 2000 as 312-foot Al Mirqab for a member of the Qatari royal family, the renovated H3 emerged from Oceanco’s facilities in 2023 looking brand new, with an extra 476 gross tons of internal volume. The vessel’s 33-foot extension—to accommodate the owner’s request for an infinity pool with a convertible dance floor and waterfall—and a fully replaced superstructure were enough for Lloyd’s Register to classify the yacht as a new build. A spa on the lower deck has a hammam, a sensory shower, a hair salon, and treatment rooms. The beach club with its rippled mirror ceiling offers stepped access to the sea.

Conrad ‘Extra Time’

marina yacht bay

Extra Time , the second hull in Conrad’s C144 series, has an exterior by Reymond Langton Design and naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design. The interior is by M2 Atelier. Much like its sistership Ace , Extra Time has a beach club, four guest lounge areas, a cinema, two bars and an infinity pool. Standout personal touches include an attention-grabbing King Kong  sculpture in the main salon and the main-deck owner’s suite that’s accessed via a private study with an electric piano.

Large yacht starts to sink after catching fire in Marina del Rey

Former yacht club commodore died after falling into water at Poolbeg marina, inquest hears

Former yacht club commodore died after falling into water at Poolbeg marina, inquest hears

Seán McCárthaigh

A former commodore of a yacht club in Dublin drowned after falling into the water at a marina on the River Liffey while trying to get onto a boat after a social event last year.

An inquest at Dublin District Coroner’s Court heard the body of John Wedick (78) – a well-known figure in sailing circles and a senior member of the Poolbeg Yacht & Boat Club – was found floating in the water at the club’s marina on Pigeon House Road, Ringsend on the morning of November 19, 2023.

The widower and father of five from Camolin, Co Wexford, who had been commodore of the club on several occasions, had attended a social function to mark its 50th anniversary on the previous evening.

The deceased’s son, John Wedick Junior, who gave evidence of formally identifying his father’s body to gardaí, told the coroner, Clare Keane, that his father was in good health and spirits when he last saw him, which was the day before his death.

He described how his father was looking forward to attending the event at the yacht club as the anniversary celebrations had been delayed for a number of years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Wedick said the deceased would have known the area around the marina and the yacht club well, and he had also grown up in the area.

In reply to a question from the coroner, he said the area around the marina was “relatively well lit.”

The inquest heard that Mr Wedick was due to stay the night on board his son’s boat which was moored at the club’s marina.

The deceased’s son said he understood that his father slipped while getting into the boat and fell in the water.

He confirmed to Dr Keane that his father was able to swim.

In a written statement, a bar manager at the yacht club said Mr Wedick had attended a private members’ function in the clubhouse and was “in great form” and did not appear in any way upset or distressed when leaving the event sometime after 1am.

Garda Paul Fay of Donnybrook Garda station, gave evidence of being alerted to the discovery of a body in the River Liffey at the Poolbeg Yacht & Boat Club’s marina at around 9am on November 19th, 2023.

Garda Fay said he saw a body laying face down in the water between a pontoon and rocks when he arrived at the scene.

He also recalled noticing a large cut on the victim’s forehead.

The inquest heard the victim’s body was recovered from the water by Dublin Fire Brigade personnel and brought ashore at the Jeanie Johnston marina where Mr Wedick was formally pronounced dead at 9:27am.

Garda Fay said CCTV footage from the yacht club had caught the deceased’s last moments and showed him going through a gate that led to a pontoon in the marina before going to his son’s boat.

He described how the footage did not show Mr Wedick falling into the river but that his body was visible in the water afterwards.

Garda Fay said the victim looked fine as he was walking to the boat and did not look unsteady on his feet.

He also confirmed that the weather was dry at the time.

The deceased’s son pointed out that his father would generally wear sailing shoes when he was in the marina but was wearing dress shoes on the night because he was attending a black tie event.

“I’m not sure what grip they had,” he observed.

Although two other people had gone into the marina around the same time, Garda Fay said they had gone in a different direction on the pontoon and he was satisfied there was no third party involvement in Mr Wedick’s death.

“It just looks like a tragic accident,” the garda remarked.

Dr Keane said postmortem results showed he had sustained some abrasions on his scalp but it had not been possible to determine how they had been caused.

The coroner said there was some evidence of chronic heart disease but she did not regard it as a contributory factor in his death.

Dr Keane said Mr Wedick had mild alcohol intoxication, but the levels were “certainly not at the high end.”

Returning a verdict of accidental death, she said the deceased had died as a result of drowning.

She offered her condolences to members of Mr Wedick’s family who attended the inquest and acknowledged how traumatising such an “out of the blue and unexpected death” was for them.

Mr Wedick, who was known as “Johnny”, was also a founding member of the Dublin Bay Old Gaffers Club and was involved in the restoration of a 50-foot fishing vessel, The Bracan Lass, which had been docked in a dilapidated state in Grand Canal Dock for many years.

His love affair with sailing was formed in his youth where he grew up in his grandmother’s house in Ringsend and he joined the local sea scouts at the age of 10.

A former chef who set up his own wholesale meat distribution business, Mr Wedick moved from his home in Artane to Wexford in his retirement but remained actively involved in the Ringsend club until his death.
