Founded Year

The Brandy Hole Club has been in existence since the early 1930’s, before the sea wall was built up. It consisted of a hut on the saltings, which was prone to flooding.Its present day status was formed in 1951, although the building was still a hut. In 1961 the proprietor of the day built a new club house. It remains a private club to this day, its main aim being to promote sailing, racing and cruising. Brandy Hole is a family club and prides itself on its friendly atmosphere.

Helicopter visit to brandy hole yacht club.

Hi I have just come across the blog regarding the helicopter that landed at the yacht club @ brandy hole. I can confirm that was my father leo who was the pilot, accompanied by my mother & sister. They flew over from Mersea Island to visit myself, who now owns the yacht club. the flight itself took less than 8 mins, the helicopter is a bell jet ranger. Regards Debbie

Does anyone know, please, if this club actually exists? It's shown on some charts, just upriver of Brandy Hole on the Crouch, but I can't find anything about it online except for an address and a phone number (which rings unanswered). I certainly didn't notice it last time I sailed that way although the address suggests it's not actually on the river at all.  

Err. I sailed from there with a colleague in 1984. Does that help ?  

I think it's a mistake (or a former name). The only club up river is the Up River YC. Yellow pages give the same postcode for "Hullbridge YC" as the Up River YC show on their website.

I believe it is now a restaurant rather than yacht club?  

Actually , the up river yachr club is there on south side opposite southwoodham ferrers yacht club, which also shares with the water ski club based there . next going down river is hullbridge yacht club which has its own clubhouse and I think moorings moving further on downriver is brandy hole yacht club which is the one with fancy club/restaurant , im not sureof how much is left of the y/c side of things tho , brandy hole moorings is separate entity from the y/c hope this helps

URYC , HYC & BHYC all off Pooles lane Hullbridge .  

So, is there actually an active club called Hullbridge YC? Anyone on here belong to it? Brandy Hole YC is indeed now just a restaurant despite calling itself a club, and it doesn't own the pontoon in front of it (the gate between the two is locked) because that belongs to Brandy Hole Moorings Ltd. Been up there this year and found out all about it, I landed and asked in the cause of ongoing work keeping a certain pilot book up to date. It's Hullbridge YC that is the mystery to me. I didn't see it and I don't feel at all certain that it is real.

There is a club house which now serves as a tea/coffee stop for river bank walkers. There is a solid pontoon with a club work boat moored along side. In winter there are some cruisers in the yard, as to if it operates as a club no idea

Wasn't one of these up for sale a year or two back? Was that HYC or Brandy Hole YC?
