Quick Enquiry

Positive Customer Review: "One of the most memorable parts for me was the launch. I went with my wife, and Benetti had a Roman Catholic priest bless the yacht. It was very beautiful with all the Italian music and then the British national anthem, and it was all very unexpected. I thought I was just going to be putting the boat in the water, but in fact it turned into a very emotional day!" - Owner of a Benetti called motor yacht 11:11

FULL YACHT CHARTER REVIEW

Inspected by us..

There are very few yachts that can boast about their pedigree, but HARMONY III yacht charter is one such yacht, being built by Benetti . Due to her Italian roots, HARMONY III provides a bespoke environment, that is as pleasing to the senses as it is comfortable and enjoyable to spend time in.

She was constructed in 2009, and because she underwent regular maintenance (the last one was in 2018), she is up-to-date with all the modern yachting trends. This will make sure that her guests have an unforgettable yacht vacation in Croatia. Her length is 43 meters, and with a beam of nearly 9 meters, the interior and exterior spaces aboard HARMONY III yacht charter seem to surpass any luxury accommodation you could come across on mainland Croatia.

The engineers at Benetti could have easily made room for an extra guest cabin onboard (so HARMONY III could accommodate 12 guests). Instead, they opted for a 10-guest capacity, re-purposing that extra room aboard into more room in the interior, as well as the exterior.

Because the guest number has not been blown out of proportion, the 9 crew members will have more time to dedicate to perfecting the details and the quality of their hospitality and service, which will in turn guarantee an upgraded charter experience.

There are 5 cabins aboard this yacht, more precisely, 3 double and 2 twin cabins, with 2 additional pullman berths, so there is more option for mixing and matching sleeping arrangements.

Due to HARMONY III yacht charter having at-anchor and underway stabilizers, even guests prone to sea sickness will not feel any rolling whatsoever. Sleeping, socializing, eating and partying will all feel like on solid ground, so you get only the positive sides of spending time on a yacht, without any drawbacks.

The crew aboard this yacht have been working together for quite a while, meaning their teamwork and teamplay add a valuable element to your holiday, delivering top-notch performance every time, as well as guaranteeing professionalism and discretion of the highest level.

Her large sundeck features an elevated jacuzzi, which will allow guests to enjoy the magnificent panorama of the shimmering Croatian Adriatic sea in every direction, all the while being served premium champagne alongside Croatian delicacies.

HARMONY III has 3 distinct modes of cruising; in her economic mode, she maintains a steady speed of 12 knots and low fuel consumption, but she can speed up to a maximum of 16 knots, which is quite remarkable for a yacht of this length.

A DAY ON THE YACHT

When planning your Croatian yachting holiday, you will have to choose the starting point of the journey. With so many different coastal settlements in Croatia, it is hard to pick just one.  If you want to experience as much of the Croatian Adriatic sea as possible,  you could settle for a city in the central Adriatic sea, also known as Dalmatia.

There are several important nautical centres in Dalmatia, like Split and Zadar , both of which offer plenty in terms of possibilities for a charter holiday. But, there are a number of reasons why you should choose Šibenik as a starting point for your Croatian adventure .

To start, Šibenik has great potential for inland day trips, being close to several of Croatia`s most breathtaking National Parks . Šibenik also transforms into an open-air stage during the summer months , with countless concerts, exhibitions, performances and music festivals set up all around Šibenik.

Our local know-how will help provision VIP passes for all major events , so you can enjoy world-renowned musicians, DJs and other entertainers. When your first arrive in Šibenik, this city will capture your imagination with a thousand-year history that can also offer every imaginable contemporary comfort and commodity, especially for charter guests on their yacht holiday in Croatia.

Very busy during the summer months, especially in the daytime, Šibenik enchants thousands of tourists with its stunning medieval architecture, rich cultural heritage, excellent local and international cuisine. You can enjoy a comprehensive tour of the Šibenik Old town in just under 30 minutes, with a competent local guide (this can be done prior to your boarding HARMONY III yacht charter).

The tour can start with the UNESCO-protected Šibenik cathedral , famous for not using any binding agents, only stone joint locks and smart engineering. There is also a possibility of dining in Pelegrini, Šibenik`s Michelin restaurant , but this would spoil the lunch your hard-working yacht chef has prepared for you aboard HARMONY III yacht charter.

When you get fed up with touring Šibenik and the crowds on the mainland in general, board HARMONY III and escape to Kakan, a nearby island in the Šibenik archipelago that offers everything a charter guest in search of peace and quiet could ever wish for.

Kakan is an uninhabited island, belonging to the larger group of islands located in the Šibenik archipelago and separated from the island of Kaprije with a narrow sea canal. There are lots of neighbouring islets near Kakan, each one representing a fresh opportunity to find solitude and privacy, far away from the hustle and bustle of coastal cities and far enough from the mainstream boating routes.

These reasons make Kakan a favourite destination for yacht enthusiasts, who want to enjoy peace, quiet and untouched nature, while also having the option of bathing in the crystal-clear waters of the island. Charter guests find that experiencing true peace for the first day or two of their holiday prepares them for the potential of a more social vacation in the second half of their holiday, with night outs, parties, concerts or other forms of land-based entertainment.

To get into the right mindset, Kakan island will abundantly provide its two most valuable attributes: silence and nature. The intact state of nature on the island allows for plenty of opportunities to enjoy secludedness, which is only sweetened by the fact that the island is not permanently inhabited.

Summer does bring interested parties to Kakan, but all of these visitors are boaters or yacht enthusiasts, who will keep to themselves and be mindful not to disturb the peace of other like-minded individuals.

Enjoy a short cruise from Šibenik to Kakan, during which you can sip cocktails on the sundeck and take in the wonderful vistas during the journey  or just relax in the air-conditioned main deck salon.

Upon your arrival, your competent yacht captain will choose a perfect bay, in which HARMONY III yacht charter will anchor, so you can taste the fabulous lunch dishes that your yacht chef has prepared.

Start with an Adriatic soup made from freshly-caught scampi and scallops, followed by grilled sea bass and quinoa with brussels sprouts and Dalmatian pancetta. For dessert, enjoy a carrot cake with fresh sweet cheese cram and honey-glazed and dried carrot chips.

After lunch, you can use every exterior surface of your superyacht to work on your tan or go down to the swimming platform and try out some of the water toys on offer. One member of the crew will always be on standby near the water, providing assistance and advice to guests who would like to learn a new skill on their holiday.

Alternatively, you can use the afternoon to explore Kakan island and marvel at the lush nature, intact beaches and crystal-clear sea around this patch of paradise. This island has an elevation of only 56 meters, so it will be easy to climb to the top of Kakan, and enjoy the panorama of the Šibenik archipelago.

Experience the allure of a Robinsonian adventure on Kakan island as you get in touch with nature and trek on dirt paths across rocky terrain, with the aquamarine Adriatic in the background.

Pass near countless stone walls, which mark the ownership of many olive grooves and gardens containing typical Mediterranean medicinal and aromatic plants. Scout through the island and find wild animals in their natural habitat; abiding by their example, relax and feel the warm embrace of the Adriatic everywhere around you.

Despite being uninhabited, Kakan island still offers a taste of civilization, in form of a restaurant found in Tratica bay, on the northwest side of the island. This restaurant can provide a sneak peek into the traditional cuisine of the Šibenik region, but it would be a shame to waste a wonderful yacht dinner being prepared on HARMONY III yacht charter by your expert chef.

Also, there is a lighthouse on the southwest side of the island, which represents a point of interest gladly visited by travellers. There is no way that you will manage to experience all of these things before the sun begins to set, which will be your signal to return to HARMONY III yacht charter and prepare for a fantastic alfresco dinner on the main deck aft.

Your chef has prepared a truly mouth-watering dish selection, starting with free-ranged chicken soaked with soya sauce and avocado cream, served with sweet corn and cherry tomatoes, followed by a pan-roasted salmon encrusted in salt, with cold celery-horseradish cream and a micro-sprout salad. For dessert, chocolate and hazelnut tartlets.

After dinner, you can relax and enjoy the tranquillity of undisturbed nature everywhere around you. The stillness and the pitch-black tone of the sea will carry sounds from the mainland, but the island of Kakak will remain quiet. For guests looking to de-stress from everyday life, this kind of environment is a Godsend, especially when combined with the hospitality potential of HARMONY III yacht charter.

Enjoy the bright sky above you, illuminated by the silvery shine of countless stars , as you soak in the warm and bubbly water of the sundeck jacuzzi. After such an exciting first day, you and your charter party will look forward to all the other treasures of the Adriatic sea, which will be revealed to you during the span of your holiday in Croatia.

YACHT CHARTER DINING

Food is one of the most crucial components of any yachting experience, due to expected high hospitality standards, and the expertise of your yacht chef, as well as the naked truth that a superyacht is a perfect stage to join together the sensual experience of sampling delicious cuisine with the style and luxury of Michelin-level food.

This, and more, will be delivered to guests who book HARMONY III yacht charter this season in Croatia.

Because the crew has worked together many seasons in this exact assembly, their teamwork capabilities are at an enviable rate, guaranteeing immaculate precision during service and an upstanding professional attitude.

All of these factors will create a bespoke dining environment, one which will ease guests into the magical world of yacht cuisine. This means tasting dishes like Adriatic tuna carpaccio, served with garlic chips, fresh cucumbers, local olive oil, and a red wine reduction. This can be followed by something like veal tenderloin with mashed potatoes, goat cheese and prosecco wine foam, with a chocolate mousse for dessert, served with a side of fresh forest fruits.

YACHT MAIN DECK

When observing HARMONY III, it is easy to notice her classic hull lines and contemporary superstructure. The marriage of two such thoroughly distinct elements creates a visual dynamic that manages to produce the impression of harmony. Guests will appreciate the practical design solutions on the exterior decks and the obvious influences that the Italian pedigree of this yacht managed to imprint into the interior.

For a comprehensive tour of HARMONY III yacht charter, it is best to start at the main deck aft, a place that is reserved for outdoor leisure, comfortable lounging and alfresco dining, thanks to an oval dining table, encircled by movable chairs on one side and a wide stern sofa bench on the other. This is also where you will be greeted by your charter crew with a glass of champagne, so the tour can begin.

Firstly, it is important to note that the main deck aboard HARMONY III is not entirely walk-around, meaning you will have several different ways of entering the interior salon or the upper deck, but not the main deck bow.

Once you finish your champagne and the crew introduction, step inside the main deck interior salon and let the stewardess highlight some of its features.

Yacht charter accommodation: main salon & dining area

Entering the main deck interior, the chic colonial style with lots of polished dark wooden surfaces will immediately seem familiar, but also luxurious. After you enter, a compact games table to port and a fully-equipped bar to starboard will provide an “intro area” to the salon, where guests can sit at the bar and enjoy hand-made drinks or let the crew serve them, while enjoying a game of chess.

In the centre of the salon is the main interior lounging area, consisting of several comfortable sofas and wide armchairs, all encircling a big coffee table. Here, the light beige leather upholstery on the furniture matches the crème-coloured woollen carpet, which stretches for the entire length of the salon.

Extensive windows stretch for the complete length of the main deck salon, bathing the entire interior with intense sunlight, and accentuating the sleek surfaces of the wooden cabinetry and furniture.

There are also several artworks, subtly placed in the salon interior, to highlight the natural features of the wood, as well as to influence the atmosphere, making it more approachable and inviting.

Continuing forward from the centrally-placed lounge area, guests can observe the large oval dining table, which will offer indoor dining options, which is a good thing to have, considering no one can control the weather.

From the dining area, it is only several feet before stepping into the starboard foyer, which connects all the decks on HARMONY III yacht charter, thanks to a staircase made from polished dark wood and reinforced with ornamentalised white marble.

Primary charter guests will find that the foyer is a perfect introduction to the main deck master suite.

Yacht charter accommodation: main deck master suite

The incredible full beam master suite aboard HARMONY III yacht charter is the epitome of yachting luxury, incorporating smart design, good use of space and tasteful décor.

To reach the main part of the suite, guests first pass through the starboard office area, which acts as a stand-alone foyer to the master, as well as providing a good background for guests who need to do some unexpected work during their holiday. The office can also be used to enjoy a private meal in your cabin, with a bespoke view of the starboard panorama. Continuing into a walk-in closet, the office expands into the main part of the master suite.

The circular arrangement of the master suite layout allows for unobstructed 180-degree views of the bow-facing panorama, featuring the beautiful Croatian Adriatic sea and its many lush green islands.

Encompassing the entire circular wall are hip-high cabinets and drawers, providing plenty of room to store your holiday clothing and accessories. Incorporated into the cabinet rows are a compact table on the starboard side, and a compact sofa on the port side, placed directly beneath one of the wide windows.

The definite highlight of the main deck master suite is that it has its own private deck, located in front of the circular suite windows. This utterly unique space will be your private paradise, shielded from the outside world and supplied by only the most delicious canapes and hand-made cocktails. Alternatively, you can enjoy a private breakfast right on the alfresco dining table or sunbathe on the elevated sunbed, located to port.

YACHT UPPER DECK

To reach the upper deck aft, guests have to climb the port side stairway, that connects the main deck with the upper deck. Guests will immediately be welcomed with different options for relaxing under the sun and enjoying the natural atmosphere of the Adriatic sea, thanks to a long L-shaped bench, that spans the length of the stern and intersects with the starboard wall, finishing with a practical beverage cooler.

Scattered all along the length of the bench are multiple coffee tables and comfortable armchairs, to provide even more options for sitting and lounging, which is immensely upgraded by the fact that the charter crew will always be on standby to serve drinks and other refreshments to guests relaxing on the upper deck of HARMONY III yacht charter.

Right beside the alfresco aft lounge area is the circular veranda, an incredible addition to an already avid list of engineering accomplishments aboard HARMONY III.

This veranda has a circular dining table, which acts as the second alfresco dining option aboard your yacht. But, since the veranda can open or close thanks to the circular glass doors, it is possible to enjoy both an enclosed or entirely open dining environment. Also, you can close off your dining experience at any time, if you desire more privacy. Passing through the veranda, guests arrive at the sky lounge.

Yacht charter accommodation: sky lounge

The sky lounge aboard HARMONY III yacht charter was designed around the idea of comfortable relaxation and socializing with your charter party over drinks, talks and jazzy music. For this purpose, there are two L-shaped sofas, each one placed in its corner on the starboard and portside walls. There are also several movable chairs and a couple of coffee tables, as well as

Polished wooden surfaces add a natural feel, complemented by lots of sunlight coming in through wide windows and the turquoise shimmering of the Croatian Adriatic sea, that can be seen outside.

The comfortable furniture and subtle artworks will definitely entice guests to spend lots of free time in the upper deck sky lounge, especially if the attentive charter crew sets up a gaming environment, or better yet, organizes a movie night for the entire charter party to enjoy.

Moving out from the sky lounge and sticking to the portside wall, guests arrive in the upper deck foyer, which connects this level of the yacht with the main deck salon. There is also a practical day head in the foyer, so that guests spending time in the sky lounge do not go all the way down to their cabins for basic hygiene. Towards the bow is the interior helm station with the captain`s quarters.

YACHT SUNDECK

Accept the invitation to bask under the sun on the sundeck of HARMONY III yacht charter and enjoy an incredible level of comfort provided by the smart layout and luxurious amenities aimed towards spending idle hours surrounded by the beauty of the Adriatic.

First off, the entire sundeck stern is constructed in an elevated position, so that the jacuzzi could be surrounded by an extra-wide sunbathing area. This creates a unique opportunity to lay next to guests soaking in the jacuzzi while resting on the inviting sun matrasses. Guests can also sit on the extension of the jacuzzi sunbathing area, which transforms into a compact bench, overlapping with small movable tables.

A hardtop covers the centre of the sundeck, under which there is another oval dining table, bringing the number of total dining options aboard HARMONY III yacht charter to three. Despite the main deck and the upper deck having their allure, dining on the sundeck has a special feeling that cannot be compared with anything else aboard this yacht .

There is even a wet bar near the dining table, which will be occupied by a member of your hard-working charter crew, serving drinks and making sure guests on the sundeck have everything they need.

Finally, the front-facing sun terrace offers a chance to enjoy the view while HARMONY III is underway. You could borrow the binoculars from your yacht captain and enjoy observing the charming Adriatic distance, determining where you want to go in the future.

YACHT LOWER DECK

HARMONY III`s lower deck houses a total of 4 cabins i.e. 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. Both the double and the twin have the exact same layout, only mirrored to reflect each other`s swapped positions.

Yacht charter accommodation: VIP cabin

In the VIP cabins, all the horizontal surfaces are covered with polished wood panels, giving these cabins a distinct shine, and a warm atmosphere. Besides the brown colour of the wood, other colours used in the VIP are white, on the woollen carpet, and eggshell white, on the ceiling.

The queen-size berth is elevated, with plenty of walk-around room, while a mirror above the berth headspace provides an illusion of depth for the guests, making the VIP cabins aboard HARMONY III seem much wider.

The three extra-large portholes can be opened to let in fresh Adriatic sea breezes, or blocked out entirely with the blinds, creating a pitch black atmosphere for a peaceful slumber.

A compact table provides opportunities to attend an unexpected Zoom meeting or any other work obligation that seems to fall out of the blue; the VIP cabins will provide an ideal improvised work environment, ensuring privacy, peace and quiet, if the need arises.

Yacht charter accommodation: twin cabin

The twin cabins are designed in a smart way, providing a ccess to the ensuite between the two berths, thus maximizing the space utilization of the twin.

The twin berths both have mirrors above their appropriate headspaces, creating an impression of a much bigger cabin, which goes great with the entrance to the ensuite extending in the same direction.

Each berth has its own nightstand and there is even a compact vanity table, smartly integrated into cabinetry and other storage solutions. Design-wise, the twin cabin is covered in brown polished wood, like the majority of interior spaces aboard HARMONY III yacht charter. The exception to this is the ceiling and the floor, both of which are coloured in different shades of white.

YACHT BEACH CLUB & SWIMMING PLATFORM

The beach club acts as a garage for the various water toys aboard HARMONY III yacht charter; once all the toys are launched, it frees up some space for the beach club to spread out, reaching the swimming platform and effectively transforming this entire space into one big beach club, with access to the sea.

Relax by the water on comfortable sun loungers and work on your tan, while the stewardess serves refreshing cocktails. Learning to ride different water toys will also be an easy feat, thanks to the accessibility of the swimming platform.

A swimming ladder will offer ease of access to the sea, although guests prefer jumping straight into the water. In the evening, you can even ask your crew to hire a professional massage therapist for deep-tissue massages on the swimming platform .

YACHT WATER TOYS & WATER SPORTS

HARMONY III yacht charter has a lot to offer to guests who are looking to make some unforgettable memories in the water. To help them achieve this, the crew aboard HARMONY III will make sure to provide useful tips and advice for first-timers.

This is especially necessary for guests who will try to ride the jet ski for the first time. Because HARMONY III is an RYA-approved water sports centre, it is possible to get licensed for all sorts of toys, learning and having fun at the same time .

For this purpose, the jet ski will be the first test. Feel the power behind the mighty engines of this awesome contraption, as you fly over waves with ease and enjoy unlimited freedom of movement on the beautiful Croatian Adriatic sea.

There are always different types of guests – some of them are up for an exhilarating time on the water, testing their agility and dexterity with fast and complex water toys, while others prefer following the slow and steady pace of Adriatic waves. To experience the stillness of the water, stand-up paddle boards and kayaks represent the ideal equipment.

Paddling with the movement of the water and feeling the crystal-clear sea everywhere around you is something you will want to repeat during the entire span of your holiday. Similar to this experience is the one provided by a Sea bob, a water toy that allows guests to glide through the water without moving, whilst being propelled by a silent electric motor.

Experience the rich underwater world of the Adriatic sea and familiarize yourself with the variety of life on the seabed, observing countless species of fish, plant life, crabs, shellfish and other similar life forms.

The 6-meter Castoldi Tender will be used by members of your crew to provide towing power for one of many different towable or inflatable toys aboard HARMONY III yacht charter.

These include toys such as wakeboards, kneeboards or waterskis, each representing a slightly different challenge for the rider. Learn how to hold your balance while handling different amounts of torque, all the while being pulled through the ski tow bar on the Castoldi tender, operated by a competent member of your charter party.

There are also 2 inflatable donuts and a big towable Mabel which can take on 4 guests at a time, guaranteeing a fun time in a group. Finally, there are two sea bicycles which will be a laugh to use, going between the beach and HARMONY III yacht charter, acting like the sea is your own personal highway. The easy and relaxed cruising on the water will make the bicycle a toy every guest will want to try at least once.

SKYFALL is currently for sale for an asking price of $29.5m

Superyacht SKYFALL is as iconic as the James Bond movie it shares its name with. Owned by an American real estate developer, the 190-foot motor yacht features a distinctive silhouette and a boatload of stand-out amenities including a panoramic sky lounge, a split-level owner’s cabin and a helipad that converts into a basketball court. As well as being highly appealing to owners, she’s a successful charter yacht that’s renowned for her ability to entertain.

SKYFALL was built by American luxury motor yacht builder Trinity Yachts in 2010 for the shipyard’s owner. “SKYFALL is the most exquisite superyacht ever delivered by Trinity Yachts and is a shining example of American craftsmanship and pride,” says Frank Grzeszczak Sr of FGI Yacht Group. “In a market where yachts of her size are rarely this versatile, SKYFALL stands out as a unique offering. With a Bahamas-friendly draft, aluminum construction, speeds exceeding 20 knots, a flexible seven-cabin layout—including a bi-level primary suite—and expansive lounges, SKYFALL sets herself apart from others in her class.”

The current owner bought her in 2018 from an American automobile tycoon and completed a full refit in 2020, including elegant, timeless interiors by designers Patrick Knowles and Even Marshall. Now, as the owner builds a new, larger, 270-foot yacht with an Italian shipyard, they’ve reluctantly put SKYFALL up for sale.

As SKYFALL enters the market with FGI , the owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, gives Forbes an exclusive look at life onboard the yacht and reveals his favorite experiences and spaces, as well as his top tips for superyacht ownership.

What initially captivated you about SKYFALL?

Owner: SKYFALL is an iconic yacht. She really has the best of all worlds. She has semi displacement which means she is fast and efficient. She also has a shallow draft that allows her to get into anchorages or ports that other similar sized boats can’t even try to get into. In the Bahamas, for example, it is typical for SKYFALL to be anchored close to shore while other 60-meter (190-foot) boats are a mile or more offshore.

What are your favourite memories onboard SKYFALL?

We have had a lot of fun with family and friends on SKYFALL. The list of great memories onboard is quite long. The bridge deck outdoor dining table is where we always try to have meals unless the weather is very bad. We have had a lot of great discussions with family and friends around that table that will last a lifetime. We also like that the sundeck that has two hot tubs with plenty of space, which is where we have pre-dinner canapes every night while we watch the sun set wherever we might be.

One thing that often grabs people’s attention is the basketball goal that also is a helideck on the sundeck. We have had a lot of competitive games of basketball on sundeck, sometimes with a number of spectators watching from afar.

The top deck of SKYFALL features a basketball court, helipad, pool, hot tub and dining area

What is your favourite space onboard?

The sky lounge is group favorite. It has twin 80-inch TVs, so there isn’t a bad place in the sky lounge to view a game.

Please talk us through the owner’s cabin and how you designed it to suit your lifestyle.

The owner’s cabin on SKYFALL is exactly what we wanted on a boat. The master bed faces the bow with large windows which means we get to wake up every morning to an amazing view. The sitting area is perfect for getting a break from guests when we just need some time to ourselves. The suite also has ‘His and Hers’ separate baths and closets, which is a requirement for us. My wife and I always say that the key to a long and happy marriage is separate bathrooms and closets.

The office in the master suite is a welcome retreat for me so I can get work done privately without being disturbed, and more importantly, without waking up my wife.

Where are your favourite places to visit around the world?

It has always been non-negotiable for our family that we spend New Year’s together in Saint Bart’s on the boat. In early spring, she spends a few weeks in the Bahamas, and then typically we send her over to the Med for the summer season. She then comes back for a quick yard period in the fall, does the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, and then makes her way back to the Caribbean.

What makes SKYFALL such a successful charter yacht?

The feedback from charter guests has been that this is a great multi-generational boat. We have all the fun toys for kids, and lots of relaxing spaces for adults. Three generations in a family can travel together and have a great trip for different reasons. With the multitude of large beds, it is also a great boat for several couples to travel together.

Interiors are elegant and timeless

What first inspired you to become a yacht owner?

Our family had been chartering yachts for about 12 years. More and more we found ourselves wanting to spend time on the water. We had been loosely talking about buying a yacht when we started attending the annual Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. I’m not an impulse buyer, but when we found a boat that we thought would work for our lifestyle, we knew (or rather, my wife knew) that was the boat for us.

What does yacht ownership give you that villa or a hotel ownership couldn’t?

We often talk about how owning a yacht allows you to basically have a home nearly anywhere in the world. We like new places, and we like to explore, but we like to have a familiar home base to come back to at the end of a long day. A yacht gives you the advantage of being in the Med in the summer and the Caribbean in the winter sleeping in the same bed every night.

Guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor dining areas

Why have you decided to put SKYFALL on the sales market – and why now?

We are building a new boat, and it is time to let this one go. We are sad to part with her, but we hope she will find a new family that will create many new memories on her as we have.

What would be your biggest piece of advice to the next owner of SKYFALL?

Have fun with her. That’s what she is for. This boat loves to be used so if you have a destination in mind, she’s ready to go.

The decks have plenty of space for entertainment and relaxation

Want to be the new owner of SKYFALL? Here’s how

SKYFALL is currently for sale for an asking price of $29,500,000. Interested parties should contact the broker, Frank Grzeszczak Sr, Founder & President at FGI Yacht Group , who says: “Simply put, SKYFALL is the finest American superyacht available today. The price has recently been adjusted to $29,500,000, reflecting the seller's commitment to securing a fair price for this extraordinary vessel.”

Questions for Investigators Trying to Unravel Mystery of Luxury Yacht’s Sinking

The investigators searching for answers about the shipwreck, leaving seven dead, face questions about extreme weather and possible human error or problems with the yacht itself.

Two small boats with outboard motors make their way across the water.

By Alan Yuhas

More than 180 feet long, with a mast towering about 240 feet and a keel that could be lowered for greater stability, the Bayesian luxury yacht did not, in the eyes of its maker, have the vulnerabilities of a ship that would easily sink.

“It drives me insane,” Giovanni Costantino, the chief executive of the Italian Sea Group, which in 2022 bought the company that made the ship, said after its wreck last week. “Following all the proper procedures, that boat is unsinkable.”

But the $40 million sailing yacht sank within minutes and with fatal results: seven dead, including the British technology billionaire Michael Lynch, his teenage daughter, four of Mr. Lynch’s friends and a member of the crew. Fifteen people, including the captain, escaped on a lifeboat.

Mr. Lynch had invited family, friends and part of his legal team on a cruise in the Mediterranean to celebrate his acquittal in June of fraud charges tied to the sale of his company to the tech giant Hewlett-Packard.

The Italian authorities have opened a manslaughter investigation, searching for answers from the survivors, the manufacturer and the wreck itself. They face a range of questions and possible factors.

An ‘earthquake’ in the sky?

When the Bayesian sank around 4 a.m. on Aug. 19, the waters in its area, about half a mile off the Sicilian port of Porticello, were transformed by an extremely sudden and violent storm, according to fishermen, a captain in the area and meteorologists.

But what kind of storm is still a mystery, compounded by the fact that a sailing schooner anchored nearby did not have its own disaster. Also unclear is whether the crew was aware that the Italian authorities had issued general warnings about bad weather the night before.

Karsten Börner, the captain of the nearby passenger ship, said he’d had to steady his ship during “really violent” winds . During the storm, he said, the Bayesian seemed to disappear behind his ship.

Severe lightning and strong gusts were registered by the Italian Air Force’s Center for Aerospace Meteorology and Climatology, according to Attilio Di Diodato, its director. “It was very intense and brief in duration,” he said.

The yacht, he said, had most likely been hit by a fierce downburst — a blast of powerful wind surging down during a thunderstorm. His agency put out rough-sea warnings the previous evening, alerting sailors about possible storms.

Locals have said the winds “felt like an earthquake.” A fisherman in Porticello said that he had seen a flare go off in the early-morning hours. His brother ventured to the site once the weather had calmed about 20 minutes later, he said, finding only floating cushions.

The Italian authorities have so far declined to say whether investigators had seen any structural damage to the hull or other parts of the ship.

Open hatches or doors?

The boat executive, Mr. Costantino, has argued that the Bayesian was an extremely safe vessel that could list even to 75 degrees without capsizing. His company, the Italian Sea Group, in 2022 bought the yacht’s manufacturer, Perini Navi, which launched the ship in 2008.

Mr. Costantino said that if some of the hatches on the side and in the stern, or some of the deck doors, had been open, the boat could have taken on water and sunk. Standard procedure in such storms, he said, would be to switch on the engine, lift the anchor and turn the boat into the wind, lowering the keel for extra stability, closing doors and gathering the guests in the main hall inside the deck.

At a news conference on Saturday, almost a week after the sinking, investigators said the yacht had sunk at an angle , with its stern — where the heavy engine was — having gone down first. The wreck was found lying on its right side at the bottom of a bay, about 165 feet deep.

12 guests occupied the yacht’s six cabins. There were also 10 crew members.

Open hatches, doors and cabin windows could have let in water during a storm, according to the manufacturer.

Water pouring into open hatches or doors could have contributed to the sinking, experts say, but that on its own may not account for the speed at which such a large boat vanished underwater.

Asked about the hatches at the news conference, the authorities declined to comment on whether they had been found open at the wreck.

The authorities have also not specified whether the boat had been anchored, whether it was under power at the time or whether its sails had been unfurled.

A retracted keel?

The Bayesian had a keel — the fin-like structure beneath a boat that can help stabilize it — that could be retracted or extended, according to its manufacturer. On some yachts, keels can be raised to let the large vessel dock in shallower water, and extended downward to help keep a boat level.

But like the hatches, the status of the keel alone may not explain why a large ship sank with such precipitous speed. Investigators have not disclosed what divers may have seen at the wreck, aside from saying divers had faced obstacles like furnishings and electrical wiring in tight quarters. Officials want to raise the wreck to better examine it, a process that may take weeks.

Human error?

Ambrogio Cartosio, the prosecutor in charge of the case, said at the news conference that it was “plausible” crimes had been committed, but that investigators had not zeroed in on any potential suspects.

“There could be responsibilities of the captain only,” he said. “There could be responsibilities of the whole crew. There could be responsibilities of the boat makers. Or there could be responsibilities of those who were in charge of surveilling the boat.”

It remains unclear what kind of emergency training or preparation took place before the disaster, or what kind of coordination there was during it. So far, none of the surviving crew members have made a public statement about what happened the night the ship sank.

Prosecutors said they want to ask more questions of the captain and crew, who have been in a Sicilian hotel with other survivors. They said that neither alcohol nor drug tests had been performed on crew members, and that they have been allowed to leave Italy.

Prosecutors also said they were also investigating why the captain, an experienced sailor, left the sinking boat while some passengers were still on board.

Besides possible manslaughter charges, the authorities are investigating the possibility of a negligently caused shipwreck.

The bodies of five passengers were found in one cabin, on the left side of the yacht, the authorities said. The five were most likely trying to flee to the higher side of the boat and were probably sleeping when the boat started to sink, they said.

History of Ulyanovsk

Ulyanovsk in the 17th-19th centuries.

In 1648, by decree of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, the fortress of Sinbirsk was founded on the right bank of the Volga River in order to protect the eastern borders of the Tsardom of Russia from the raids of nomadic tribes (Nogai Tatars), as well as to colonize the Volga region.

In the fall of 1670, Sinbirsk was unsuccessfully besieged by the army of Stepan Razin - the Don Cossack, who was the leader of the 1670-1671 uprising, the largest in the history of pre-Petrine Russia. In 1678, 1,579 people lived in Sinbirsk.

In 1729, the coat of arms of Sinbirsk was approved - a white pillar topped with a golden crown in the azure field. In 1780, Sinbirsk was renamed Simbirsk. In 1793, 13,317 people lived in this town.

In 1812, Ivan Goncharov, a famous Russian novelist and critic, was born in Simbirsk. In 1836, Emperor Nicholas I visited Simbirsk and made a lot of orders for the construction of new buildings in the town, especially in its central part. In 1840, the Simbirsk Theological Seminary was opened.

More Historical Facts…

In 1845, a monument to Nikolay Karamzin (1766-1826) was opened - the author of one of the first generalizing works on the history of Russia and a reformer of the Russian literary language, who was born near Simbirsk. Today, this monument erected in Karamzin Public Garden is one of the symbols of Ulyanovsk. In 1848, one of the first libraries in the Volga region was opened in this town - the Karamzin Public Library.

In the summer of 1864, a terrible fire occurred in Simbirsk, which lasted 9 days. Only one fourth of the town buildings survived. In 1867, the merchant Yurgens opened the first bookstore in Simbirsk. In 1870, the future “leader of the world revolution” Vladimir Ulyanov (Lenin) was born in Simbirsk. Alexander Kerensky, a prominent Russian politician and statesman, was born here in 1881. According to the 1897 census, 43.3 thousand people lived in Simbirsk.

Ulyanovsk in the first half of the 20th century

From 1908 to 1912, Igor Kurchatov, the future creator of the Soviet atomic bomb, lived in Simbirsk with his parents and studied at the local gymnasium. In 1916, the construction of the Imperial Bridge over the Volga River was completed in Simbirsk. With a length of 2,089 meters, it was the longest bridge in the Russian Empire at that time.

After the First World War and the Russian Civil War, the city’s industry was in ruin. During the war years, not a single building was constructed in Simbirsk, street lighting disappeared, boulevards and parks fell into disrepair, up to a hundred residential buildings were destroyed.

On May 9, 1924, in connection with the death of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (Lenin), Simbirsk was renamed into Ulyanovsk, and Simbirsk Governorate - into Ulyanovsk Governorate. Other proposed options for the new name of the city were such as “Lenin”, “Leninsk”, “Ilyich”.

By the end of the 1930s, almost all churches in Ulyanovsk were destroyed or used for other purposes. On the eve of the Second World War, Ulyanovsk was a provincial city with a population of about 110 thousand people. There were no large industrial enterprises, with the exception of the 3rd State Plant named after Volodarsky (Ulyanovsk Cartridge Plant) - one of the oldest defense enterprises in Russia, specializing in the production of cartridges for rifled weapons.

During the Second World War, Ulyanovsk became the place of evacuation of 17 industrial enterprises from the occupied regions and the front line. The Minsk Tank School, renamed the 2nd Ulyanovsk Tank School, was relocated from Minsk, the Mogilev Military Infantry School, which became the Ulyanovsk Military Infantry School, was relocated from Mogilev. In 1942, a medical institute evacuated from Voronezh began to work in Ulyanovsk.

From October 1941 to August 1943, the Moscow Patriarchate was in evacuation in Ulyanovsk, headed by Metropolitan Sergius. From 1942 to 1945, Andrei Sakharov, the future creator of the hydrogen bomb, academician and human rights activist worked at the Ulyanovsk Machine-Building Plant.

On January 19, 1943, Ulyanovsk became the center of the newly formed Ulyanovsk Oblast. From the second half of 1941 to the beginning of 1942, the population of Ulyanovsk, due to the evacuees, doubled and amounted to more than 200 thousand people. By 1945, as a result of re-evacuation, it decreased by 50 thousand and amounted to 152 thousand people.

Ulyanovsk after the Second World War

In the post-war period, Ulyanovsk became an industrial city. In 1953, during the construction of the Volga cascade of hydroelectric power plants, part of Ulyanovsk was included in the flooding zone of the Kuibyshev reservoir. In 1957, the Ulyanovsk airport was built. Since the 1960s, thanks to the high rates of housing and industrial construction, Ulyanovsk began to grow rapidly both in area and in population. On May 5, 1967, the 300,000th resident of the city was born.

In the 1969-1970s, in honor of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Lenin, the historical center of Ulyanovsk was built up with modern buildings: the hotel “Sovetskaya”, the House of Artists, the Memorial Center of Vladimir Lenin, the hotel “Venets”, the new railway station Ulyanovsk-Tsentralny, the new river station, the central airport Ulyanovsk-Tsentralny, the central department store, the central bus station, the Palace of Pioneers, the park “Friendship of Peoples”, etc.

With the construction of the Memorial Center of Vladimir Lenin, Ulyanovsk became one of the main tourist centers of the USSR, after Moscow and Leningrad. The city was not closed to foreigners, which distinguished it from many other industrial regional centers, but foreign tourists were not allowed to deviate from the route. On June 1, 1973, the 400,000th resident of Ulyanovsk was born. On April 16, 1982, the population of Ulyanovsk exceeded 500 thousand people.

On June 5, 1983, in Ulyanovsk, the river cruise ship “Alexander Suvorov” crashed into the railway bridge across the Volga (the Imperial Bridge). By mistake of the crew, the ship tried to pass under the non-navigable span of the bridge. As a result, more than 170 people died. The large number of casualties is explained by the fact that at the time of the collision, most of the passengers were in the movie theater and on the dance floor on the upper deck, which was completely destroyed by the collision with the bridge girder.

On July 17, 1987, the 600,000th resident of Ulyanovsk was born. The city’s tourist significance declined sharply after the collapse of the USSR. In 1998, Ulyanovsk celebrated its 350th anniversary.

In the 2000s, there was a discussion about the reverse renaming of the city to Simbirsk, but the residents of Ulyanovsk for the most part did not support this proposal. In 2009, the arches of the old railway bridge were replaced. On November 24, 2009, the Presidential Bridge across the Volga was opened, the second longest in Russia, with a length of about 6 kilometers.

Ulyanovsk - Features

From 1648 to 1780, the name of Ulyanovsk was Sinbirsk, and from 1780 to 1924 - Simbirsk. This name was given to the town by its founder, Bogdan Khitrovo, after the name of the settlement of Sinbir (named after the Bulgarian prince Sinbir), the remains of which were located nearby. In 1924, after the death of Vladimir Ulyanov (Lenin), Simbirsk was renamed into Ulyanovsk.

Ulyanovsk is located in a forest-steppe zone on the Volga Upland, on both banks of the Volga River (Kuybyshev Reservoir). The climate is moderately continental. The average temperature in February is minus 10.4 degrees Celsius, in July - plus 20.2 degrees Celsius. A characteristic feature of Ulyanovsk is the constant winds blowing from the Volga.

The banks of the Volga in Ulyanovsk are connected by two bridges. The old railway bridge was officially opened in 1916 and was named “Imperial of His Majesty Nicholas II”. In 1917, it was renamed Freedom Bridge. In 2009, it again began to be called “Imperial Bridge”. The new bridge (also called “Presidential Bridge”) was commissioned on November 26, 2009.

Public transport is represented by trams, trolleybuses, buses, and minibuses. In Ulyanovsk tram lines are located exclusively in the right-bank part of the city and trolleybus lines are in the left-bank part. In the last years of the USSR, it was planned to build a subway in Ulyanovsk.

It is a multi-ethnic city. The ethnic composition according to the 2010 All-Russian Population Census: Russians (77.65%), Tatars (12.64%), Chuvash (5.02%), Mordovians (1.4%).
