Portals Nous

A vibrant town with a large port and yachting community.

Portal Nous is a small town that is situated only 10 km from Palma and is where the British often buy their second homes. The town is well placed above the marina and there are a number of convenience shops and cafes.

Things to do

It is very small town and there is not much to do but it does have a lovely beach with one of the best bars on the island and it could be quite easy to spend a week there enjoying the soft sand and the calm turquoise sea.

A popular attraction for families with young children is the Marineland that is situated in the resort of Portal Nous. The park is situated on the Costa d’en Blanes beach and has a good reputation for delivering the shows in an exciting manner. At the Marina, you can see shows with performing sea lions, parrots and dolphins. At the club, there is an underwater tunnel which allows you to get up close to the dolphins and one of the reasons why the children and adults alike enjoy visiting the Marineland.

There are a few golf courses but the main attraction is the mini golf course which offers an informal and relaxed game of golf. The golf courses are set in the tropical forest where one can come across the wildlife of the area in amongst the waterfalls, caves and lakes.

There are activities that you can do from Portal Nous as most the towns are close by such as Palma, Magaluf and you can also visit markets in the towns nearby.

Hotels in Portals Nous

Most of the hotels are situated in the surrounding areas of Portal Nous but there is one Boutique Hotel that is situated above the marina of Puerto Portals. Along with its luxury accommodation, it also has a spa, swimming pool and its own club.

If you travel a little further east there is the beautiful Hotel Bendinat which is situated on the coast so there are breathtaking views from the Hotel and the gardens surrounding it. It as access to 7 golf courses that are in the area and have negotiated reduced green fees for their residents. To the east of Portal Nous, there are two boutique hotels which are situated on the headland of Punta Negra.

Further up the hill, you can find rental villas that are available year round.

Nightlife and Restaurants.

There is not much of a nightlife in Portal Nous itself because the town is quite happy with having a quiet leisurely existence but it does host a few restaurants. There are also restaurants in the towns that are close by such as Bendinat and Costa D’en Blanes.

Portal Nous is only 10km from Palma and it is also close to the Magaluf where you can find plenty of bars and night clubs. It is important to note though that even though Portal Nous is close to Palma it does not have any public transport running regularly between the two.

Things to See

There is not much to see as far as historical ruins or building are concerned but there are some attractive buildings with good architecture and you can visit the Parish Church situated above the bay.

Portal Nous is almost equidistant from Palma and Magaluf so there is enough to do in the area but if it is a leisurely holiday that you are looking for then there is no need to go further that Portal Nous with it lovely quiet beach and there are enough restaurants and shops for you to enjoy your stay while you are there.

Portals Nous Beach or Playa Oratori, as it is known to the locals, is a relatively large, handsome beach featuring Mallorca's picture-perfect turquoise waters, fine golden sand and an excellent choice of facilities.

The location of the beach is second to none, thanks to the world-class restaurants and bars in Puerto Portals on its doorstep, and the more modest amenities of Portals Nous, just a few minutes walk away. Die große Beliebtheit von Portals Nous stammt nicht von ungefähr. Bereits in den 30er Jahren, lange vor dem allgemeinen Tourismusboom auf Mallorca, suchte die Oberschicht Palmas nach einem ruhigeren Ort für ihre Zweit- und Landwohnsitze. Die landschaftlich sehr ansprechende Ortschaft ca. 30 Kilometer außerhalb Palmas setzte sich schnell durch.

Top 5 Reisetipps Portals Nous

Eine der Hauptattraktionen von Portals Nous ist der riesige und besonders gepflegte Yachthafen Puerto Portals mit 700 Anlegeplätzen. An diesem Hafen legt sowohl die Königsfamilie Spaniens als auch der internationale Geldadel an. Beim Flanieren entlang der Hafenpromenade hat man zwischen Yachten und Luxusboutiquen die besten Chancen einen Prominenten zu erspähen. Selbst wenn man kein Glück oder Interesse daran hat, bietet der Hafen ein sehr schönes Panorama. Auch Liebhaber schicker und schneller Autos werden den Hafen lieben, denn hier stehen die Premiumfahrzeuge dichter als auf mancher Fachmesse.

Portals Nous glänzt mit gleich zwei besonders schönen Stränden. Zum einen der Platja de s’Oratori, der sich gerade für Familien mit Kindern besonders eignet, da er durch die Hafenmauer zur Linken und eine vorgelagerte Insel besonders ruhiges, türkisblaues Wasser aufweist. Um zum Strand zu gelangen, muss man eine Steintreppe hinunter steigen, daher empfiehlt es sich, Liegestühle und Sonnenschirme direkt am Starnd anzumieten. Oberhalb des Strandes befindet sich eine Plattform mit herrlichem Ausblick. Der zweite Strand ist der Platja d‘en Blanes, der etwas kleiner ist, dafür aber über einen Pier verfügt.

Playa de S´oratori

Der feinsandige Playa S´Oratori (auch Playa Oratori genannt) schließt sich direkt an den großen Yachthafen von Portal Nous an, der zwischen den Touristenorten Palmanova und Illetes liegt.

In direkter Nachbarschaft zum Platja d’en Blanes befindet sich das Marineland. Dort gibt es ein Aquarium, ein Delphinarium und ein Tropenhaus. Die Delphine, Seelöwen und Papageien kann man in Tiershows bewundern und zum Mitmachen laden ein Perlentauchbecken und ein Abenteuerspielplatz ein. Verbunden werden die verschiedenen Teile des Parks durch eine Eisenbahn. Der Park stellt sicher eine Attraktion für die ganze Familie dar und kann auch einen Regentag überbrücken, falls das einmal nötig sein sollte.

Wer Interesse an einer besonderen Sportart hat und in Portals Nous nicht fündig wird, noch nicht ausreichend shoppen war, die Oper besuchen möchte oder auch noch nach 2 Uhr morgens feiern möchte, der gelangt in 30 Minuten nach Palma. Auch ohne besonderen Grund lohnt es sich, Palma de Mallorca einen Besuch abzustatten. Nach dem Touristenrummel dort lernt man die Ruhe von Portals Nous zu schätzen und kann sich wie die Oberschicht vor knapp 100 Jahren am Landleben erfreuen.

Auch das nahe gelegene Städtchen Clavia hat einiges zu bieten. Es ist touristisch wenig erschlossen und hat einen schönen historischen Stadtkern. Besonders bemerkenswert ist die Kirche im Stadtzentrum, deren Grundsteine im 13. Jahrhundert gelegt wurde. Seitdem ist sie mehrfach renoviert und erweitert worden.

Sport und Freizeit Portals Nous

An beiden Stränden werden Wassersportarten wie Surfen, Jetski-, Tretboot- oder Kajakfahren angeboten. Wer also nicht nur planschen möchte, kann sich nach Herzenslust austoben.

Restaurants

In erster Meereslinie liegt das Spitzenrestaurant direkt an der Uferpromenade und gibt den Blick frei auf das bunte Treiben am Hafen Puerto Portals.

Der Platja d’en Blanes ist umgeben von Tennisplätzen. Wer in den kühleren Jahres- oder Tagestageszeiten ein paar Bälle schlagen möchte, dem sollte es weder an Gelegenheiten noch an Gegnern mangeln.

Auch für Gäste, die kleinere Bälle bevorzugen, ist gesorgt, denn im Umkreis von Portals Nous befinden sich gleich sechs Golfplätze. Vier davon befinden sich im Norden (Son Vida, Golf Son Ouint, Son Muntaner Golf, Real Club Bendinat) und zwei im Süden (Golf Santa Ponca und Golf de Poniente). Am nächsten gelegen ist der bekannte und exklusive Golf Club Bendinat mit seinem Ehrenpräsidenten König Juan Carlos.

Restaurants Portals Nous

Wie der Name bereits verrät ist die Beach Alm am Hafen eine ganz außergewöhnliche Kombination. Sie kombiniert Sonne, Strand und Meerblick mit Hütteneinrichtung und alpenländlicher Gemütlichkeit. Für letzteres war derselbe Schreiner verantwortlich, der bereits beim Stanglwirt in Kitzbühel am Werk war. Die Kombination kommt hervorragend an und ist sicherlich ein Erlebnis, von dem man anschließend noch lange erzählen kann. Das hat natürlich seinen Preis. Im Verhältnis sind die Getränke günstiger als die Speisen, wer also neugierig ist kann einfach die Bar nutzen. Allgemein sollte man bei den Restaurants entlang der Hafenprommenande auf gehobene Kleidung und eine gefüllte Brieftasche achten.

Eine günstigere Alternative ist das Diablito, eine spanischen Kette, in der es Pizzen für bis zu 4 Personen sowie Salate und am Abend auch Cocktails gibt. Das Restaurant ist der ideale Ort, um die Leute auf der Hafenpromenade zu beobachten oder den Ausblick zugenießen.

Real Golf de Bendinat

Abwechslungsreiche Bahnen und malerische Fernblicke zeichnen den schönen Golfplatz Real Golf de Bendinat aus. Sein Charme begründet sich aus der Mischung einer herrlichen Anlage, umgeben von Oliven- und Mandelbäumen, und dem typisch britischen Flair des Clubhauses.

Das Restaurant Tristan, dessen deutscher Koch früher mit zwei Michelin Sternen ausgezeichnet war, teilt sich heute in zwei Teile. Zum Einen das Bistro Tristan und zum Anderen das Tristan del Mar, welches sich auf Meeresfrüchte spezialisiert hat. Die Qualität der Speisen, der Service und die Preise sind von gehobenem Niveau, insgesamt ist das Ambiente aber zwangloser geworden. Geblieben sind natürlich der bezaubernde Blick auf den Hafen und die Flanierenden.
