Where in the world: Top superyacht locations this week
The global superyacht fleet is always on the move. Using BOAT Pro’s pioneering AIS fleet tracker , we keep an eye on the furthest flung superyachts of the week .
Nord in the Seychelles
The 142 metre Nord is undoubtedly one of the most notable launches of the past few years. She became Lürssen's biggest build to date when she hit the water in 2021 and has continued to turn heads with her sheer size, squared-off bow and striking duo-tone hull and superstructure. After a summer well spent cruising in the Mediterranean, Nord made her way to the Maldives in time for Christmas and is now sitting pretty in the Seychelles, anchored off from its capital Victoria.
Lusine in London
At 60 metres in length, the Heesen motor yacht Lusine is the largest steel superyacht to be built by Heesen and was spotted cruising into the mouth of the River Thames on February 14. She is one of a string of new European builds that have arrived in London in the past few months to be delivered. Lusine was built under the name Project Falcon and recently completed intensive sea trials in the North Sea, reaching a top speed of 17.7 knots.
La Datcha in Peru
The 77 metre polar expedition yacht La Datcha has made her way back up the South American coastline after spending the winter season doing what she does best - exploring the frozen fields of Antarctica. Equipped with an ice classed hull and helicopter, La Datcha has been to-ing and fro-ing between Ushuaia and Antarctica over the past few months but is now enjoying the warmer waters of Peru.
Arbema in Cuba
Arbema , previously known as Azteca , came under new ownership in 2021 in one of the biggest sales of the year. The 72 metre CRN superyacht was snapped up after just three months on the market and her new owner has naturally been spending the winter season cruising the Caribbean. She was most recently spotted pulling into Havana, Cuba.
Azamanta in Bermuda
The unmistakable bronze hull of the 55 metre Heesen Azamanta has been spotted pulling into port in Bermuda. She was delivered in 2015 as the first in the Dutch shipyard's 55 Steel series and has been under private ownership ever since. Azamanta 's cruising calendar is often dictated by the seasons - summers in the Mediterranean and winters in the Caribbean - but an ice-reinforced steel hull means she can travel wherever she pleases.

For families of Key Bridge collapse victims, a search for justice begins
The families of the six construction workers killed in the collapse of Maryland's Francis Scott Key Bridge plan to file legal claims against the owner and manager of the container ship that lost power and struck the bridge
BALTIMORE -- Years after immigrating to the U.S. and settling in the Baltimore area, Maria del Carmen Castellón was working toward a new chapter of her family’s American dream, hoping to expand her successful food truck business into a Salvadoran restaurant.
Her husband, Miguel Luna, was right there beside her. Years of welding and construction jobs had begun taking a toll on his health, but he kept working hard because he couldn’t afford to retire yet. He was filling potholes on an overnight shift when disaster struck. A massive container ship lost power and slammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge , sending Luna and five other men plunging to their deaths as the steel span collapsed into the water below.
Several months later, Luna’s family is still struggling to construct a future without him .
“That day, a wound was opened in my heart that will never heal, something I would not wish on anyone,” Castellón said in Spanish, speaking through a translator at a news conference Tuesday.
She appeared alongside other victims’ relatives and attorneys to announce their plans to take legal action against the owner and manager of the Dali, arguing the companies acted with negligence and ignored problems on the ship before the March 26 collapse .
A last-minute mayday call from the ship’s pilot allowed police officers to stop traffic to the bridge, but they didn’t have time to alert the road work crew. Most of the men were sitting in their construction vehicles during a break and had no warning. One survived falling from the bridge by manually opening the window of his truck and climbing out into the frigid waters of the Patapsco River.
Following the disaster, salvage divers worked around the clock to recover the victims’ bodies. The underwater wreckage blocked the main channel into the Port of Baltimore for months, disrupting East Coast shipping routes and putting many longshoremen temporarily out of work.
All six of the victims were Latino immigrants who came to the U.S. seeking better-paying jobs and opportunities for their families. Most had lived in the country for many years, including Luna, who grew up in El Salvador. He left behind five children.
Luna would often go straight from a construction shift to helping at the food truck, where his wife served up pupusas and other Salvadoran dishes. The business attracted a diverse clientele and had a loyal following in their close-knit Latino community south of Baltimore.
Castellón said the business symbolized their shared vision for the future. Just days before his death, Luna surprised her with a visit to the storefront they hoped to rent.
“Every mile driven in that food truck, every vegetable chopped took us a step closer to our dreams,” she said.
She recalled how he stopped by the food truck before heading to work the last time. She gave him dinner and he gave her a kiss.
In seeking justice for her family, Castellón said, she hopes to prevent future tragedies by advocating for safer working conditions. She wants more robust protections for immigrant workers who too often find themselves taking dangerous jobs no one else is willing to do. She displayed a pair of her husband’s old welding uniforms, noting holes in the fabric caused by flying sparks.
Gustavo Torres, executive director of the Maryland-based advocacy group CASA, said it should come as no surprise that the victims of the collapse were immigrant workers. He said their suffering must not be brushed under the rug by corporate interests.
“No financial loss can compare to the loss of human life,” Torres said at the news conference, calling the victims “six irreplaceable souls” whose loved ones are trying to pick up the pieces after their worlds were destroyed in an instant.
The Dali is owned by Grace Ocean Private Ltd. and managed by Synergy Marine Group, both of Singapore. The companies filed a court petition days after the collapse seeking to limit their legal liability, a routine procedure for cases litigated under U.S. maritime law. The joint filing seeks to cap their liability at roughly $43.6 million in what could become the most expensive marine casualty case in history.
Darrell Wilson, a spokesperson for the ship’s owner, said the victims’ upcoming challenge was anticipated and noted there is a Sept. 24 deadline for such filings in the case. He declined to comment further on the pending litigation.
Several other interested parties , including city officials and local businesses, have already filed opposing claims accusing the companies of negligence. Filings on behalf of the victims and their families are expected in coming days.
Preliminary findings from a National Transportation Safety Board investigation show that the Dali experienced a series of electrical issues before and after leaving the Port of Baltimore. The ship was destined for Sri Lanka when it experienced a power blackout and lost steering at the worst possible moment. The FBI launched an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the crash.
A plan is underway to rebuild the bridge, but it could take years.
Meanwhile, Castellón said she plans to continue pursuing her dream of opening a restaurant — now in her husband’s honor.
“I know he is up there watching down on me, celebrating all of the victories with me,” she said. “I will continue to make him proud.”

Breaking news, families of migrants killed in baltimore francis scott key bridge collapse want shipping company to pay up.
The families of migrant workers killed in the collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge are due to go to court this week to demand the owners of the ship that downed the span be held responsible.
Kin of three of the six workers killed in the March mishap will file a legal request in federal court to hold Singapore-based Grace Ocean Private Limited financially liable for the deadly collapse, their attorney told CBS News.
“They all have suffered an unimaginable tragedy, losing their loved ones, whether it was one of our clients who lost her husband and partner,” their attorney, Matthew Wessler, told the outlet.
“Another lost their son,” Wessler said. “And we think that accountability, or they think that justice here, means holding those responsible accountable.”
He said he planned to file a motion requesting compensation before Sept. 24, the deadline for a federal court case filed by the shipping line after the crash to limit its liability.
Wessler said the firm was “negligent” and should pay the price for the fatal crash where its massive container ship, Dali, took down the bridge.
“We believe that, at least at this point, what we know so far is that the ship should not have left the port when it did after having lost power multiple times within a day or two before it left,” he said.
The 980-foot Dali, which was carrying nearly 130,000 tons of cargo, lost power around 1:30 am on March 26 shortly after leaving port in Baltimore, destined to sail to Sri Lanka.
Footage prior to the collision shows the ship’s lights flickering off momentarily, then helplessly gliding into one of the 47-year-old bridge’s support columns, bringing down the span in an instant.
The sunken bridge shut down the busy port for 11 days, and it wasn’t until June that the Dali was able to clear the harbor and make sail to Virginia for repairs.
According to federal investigators, the ship had also experienced electrical blackouts about 10 hours before leaving the Port of Baltimore and striking the bridge.

Eight construction workers were on the bridge at the time and pummeled into the water.
Only two survived while the others perished in the darkened waters — including Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez, Jose Maynor Lopez Sandoval and Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, the three victims now represented by Wessler and his firm. .
“That Monday, my husband calls me and says, ‘Mami, can you make me a tortilla?’ Maria del Carmen Castellon, Luna Gonzalez’s widow, told CBS News.
Both are immigrants from El Salvador.
“He said goodbye with a kiss,” she added. “And when he said goodbye, all I remember is that he took his phone and he put it in the car and I saw his wallpaper was a photo of us. It was the last time I saw him.”
Grace Ocean Private Limited did not respond to a request for comment from the outlet.

Some insist that the true measure of a motor yacht's worth is the dimensions of her flybridge, sundeck, and covered aft-deck. There must be space for owners and their guests to revel in sun, sea, and sky. But there are others equally convinced that a motor yacht must be judged by her interior spaces: How roomy, how magnificently furnished, how well appointed with standard equipment and amenities. Happily, the 39 Motor Yacht satisfies all those requirements. The open bridge seats eight, who can also enter conveniently from the foredeck by the Side Walk.
The 39 Motor Yacht's foredeck and sheltered aft-deck are the perfect adjunct to an interior designed for on-water living and entertaining. Wide of beam, the 39 Motor Yacht's salon, dinette area, and uncommonly roomy galley are remarkable for their space and luxury. The convertible L-lounge is sprawling; the dinette table, solid cherry; the galley, a seacook's delight.
At the end of a satisfying day on the 39 Motor Yacht, two generously proportioned and elegantly outfitted staterooms await the travelers, each with a queen-sized bed.
Experience luxury and relaxation on the spacious aft deck of our 2007 Silverton 39 Motor Yacht Aft Cabin, which seamlessly blends comfort and entertainment, making it the perfect retreat for enjoying the open water.
